Heath’s life is turned upside down the night he meets his mate in a local bar. The gorgeous youth is drunk, so attractive he makes Heath’s fangs ache, and he is male.
The last thing he’d expected as the Alpha of his pack was for fate to give him a mate that cannot give him pups, but Heath trusts in the ancient stories and knows that Revel is his.
When Revel wakes up from his all night bender in the bed of a huge, angry man, his first instinct is to run. Unlucky for him that Heath is one step ahead and the doors are locked. Only one thing to do, and that is to wait for the man who saved him to come home.
Their need for each other is obvious, their instant connection perfect. But they come from two different worlds and when Revel’s past meets with Heath’s animal side, there will be blood.
Be Warned: m/m sex, rimming
Revel slammed his glass down on the wooden bench top, whiskey splashing up from the soaked mats and pain slicing through his already tortuous headache.
“Hey, settle down, mate.”
Revel lifted his heavy eyes to the bartender, who indicated to the bottle in front of him. He blinked as though in slow motion, his eyelids going up and down with the clunk of a heavy lock and key, his muzzy thoughts nothing but a black cloud of depression swirling beneath a white fog of alcohol. He saw glass … clear, empty glass. “Hell no.” He couldn't have finished the bottle. “Fuck.”
He groaned, rocked back on his stool and stumbled sideways off his perch. He just got his feet beneath him, but on an angle, and he began to stumble sideways. He slammed into a large male body that was so solid that if it hadn’t been warm to the touch, he would have thought it was a wall. "Sorry." He slurred as he swayed away, his feet dancing on the concrete like they were skating on ice.
Shit, I’m fucked…
“Not so fast.” A man’s silky voice slid over him like warm water on cold skin, and he shivered, goosebumps rising on his arms.
“What?” Revel forced his heavy head up to look at the large guy who was now gripping his arms, hard.
He saw double of everything, two heads and too many eyes all swirling around in a maze of silver. He shook himself, his eyes sliding shut of their own volition as his stomach rolled. “Oh, argh.”
“What's your name, beautiful?”
Revel spat out a laugh, the man’s comment ironic and untrue. It had to be the one day that he’d been told how unworthy he was, that a hot guy would call him beautiful. His gut clenched, and hot tears burned his eyes. “Me? I'm no one and nothing.”
He tried to move further away from the man mountain, but the guy obviously had other ideas. One moment Revel was trying to turn away, and the next, the man bent towards him, put a large, pointed shoulder in his belly and lifted him.
His world spun, flashing white lights and darkness making him moan as the man who held him began running. His body jostled as the guy moved faster, and his stomach churned as his eyes slid shut and his body went limp.
Where’s he taking me? Not that I care…
Revel let the abyss take him. There was no reason to be conscious any longer.
Heath panted as he ran, his lungs burning in his chest. His legs pumped hard, and his heart thundered in his chest as all of his wolf instincts went on high alert.
Every cell in his body vibrated with excitement. His mouth was dry, and all of his senses were heightened.
Heath slowed down to a fast walk, his body buzzing with too much adrenaline to stop altogether. He shook himself as the sweet feeling of bliss descended, a lightness in his heart making his chest ache. He’d found his mate.
“And a fucking male, too!”
Werewolves weren’t choosy on the sex of their bed partners, but he’d never thought he’d be mated to anyone other than a woman.
Heath blew out a heated breath, shaking his head. He couldn't fucking believe it. He was destined to become the Alpha of his pack, his father’s one and only son.
He grunted as he clenched his jaw and slowed to a proper walk, his skin trembling with awareness, his cock aching in his jeans.
It wasn't that he hadn't had the occasional male lover—their pack encouraged frequent affection and lots of sex, as it helped the bonding of their community and kept the raging sex hormones satisfied.
But he'd never thought fate would give him a male mate. Why would she? He needed children, a future Alpha.
He sniffed the cold air and kept walking along the highway. He was still a while out of their town.
He stopped, and touched his mate’s arm. It was cold to the touch. It was freezing out for a human.
He had to get him home, and fast. The alcohol would keep him warm, but not for long. He only wore a pair of too-tight jeans and a ripped t-shirt. Ridiculous.
Heath shifted his feet and turned, heading up the hill and into the bush. There was a shortcut back to his home, and he had to take it. He shifted his mate’s weight to his shoulder to be more comfortable and ducked beneath the branches on the trees.
Their pack lived in the hills, ten minutes drive from the pub where he'd found his drunk mate.

This story is pure fantasy. As I read it, I realized, the wolf Heath represented our inner “cave man” with the way he acted and behaved so I understood why Revel adored him in a way. Here was Revel with submissive tendencies and wanted to belong to someone who thought the world of him, rather than being seen as a body to be discarded by a man later. From that angle, I really liked the story because despite some spelling errors, and a rather ‘too fast’ pace, it was engaging and romantic. Well….you need to read Revel and Heath’s story to understand the dynamics between these two characters to appreciate where I am coming from. I giggled at the scene where Heath simply picked up his mate and plonked him over his shoulder to leave the bar. That scene was written so well, I could actually picture it in my head.
As you noticed, I adored Heath and his Knight with not-so-shining armor ways. I am glad that Revel was his mate because this human really needed a partner who could provide a firm but very loving boundaries.
The plot is interesting and the characters were lovable, but the story is very short which means, a lot of the parts that complemented the plot were not explained adequately, which left me a little frustrated. The congruency of Revel’s emotions did not really match the significant and frightening events that he experienced. He seemed to be quickly accepting of Health’s “nature”, and what had happened when Revel saw his ex-partner. There were parts that hinted of a deeper suspense, but somehow disappeared, like Heath’s cousin in the story.
This story is fast paced so it would be fun to read in places like in the train on the way to work, or during lunch breaks, or cosy in the bed at night. It is an easy read, light hearted in a way but definitely fast paced.

A totally enjoyable story, even if full of Hollywood style antics (a lighter dropped on a pile of clothes makes a whooshing sound and sends up a whole house - were the clothes sitting around in gasoline maybe?); a human mate who doesn't even blink an eye at the whole wolf thing. Sure you've practically kidnapped me, locked me in your house and told me you wanted to be with me forever cause you're a wolf and I'm your mate, but damn you're hot; is there any bacon left? But seriously, we've all been there, done the 'you're a wolf, I can't believe it' thing so why not just get to the good stuff? Work with me, here. Recommended if you're looking for a hot, angst free, feel good read that doesn't require a lot of logic or thought. Might have given it a different rating on another day, but it left me feeling happy and I liked the couple.
