Falling for Trouble by Jenika Snow

Product Description

Sophia Kidd has been in love with her best friend Abe Rochester since they were children. With both of their pasts scarred, the only people they can rely on are each other. Unfortunately, Abe has never shown interest in her as more than a friend.

Known as Trouble in their town, Abe enjoys women, bar brawls, and liquor—and not in that particular order. When one night of drinking results in Sophia and Abe in bed together, she finally has hopes that the man she loves returns her feelings. But when dawn arrives and Abe has no recollection of their passion, humiliation has Sophia fleeing.

She can't run forever though, especially when she finds out she is pregnant. Sophia has no idea how to tell Abe that he is the father when he doesn't even remember sleeping with her.

“Straddle me, baby.” His tone brooked no argument. He moved so his back rested against the headboard. Swallowing the very thick lump in her throat, she found her eyes traveling down his chest and stopping on the very large bulge pressed against his jeans. Even in the darkened room, she could see how it strained against his fly, demanding to be free. The junction between her thighs became wet and she felt her nipples bead.

“Come on, baby, I want to feel you on top of me.” Before she could stop this from going any further, Abe’s hands were on her waist, and he was hauling her on top of him. His mouth slanted on hers and he took her with a searing force. The groan that spilled from him was loud and she greedily swallowed it. With her legs spread wide over his, her pussy was in direct contact with his raging hard-on. A gush of fluid left her, and she felt her panties moisten further. Sophia shifted and gasped as the movement caused Abe’s erection to rub against her clit. His zipper caused a flash of discomfort to meld with the pleasure.

“Fuck, baby.” He dragged his lips across her jaw and licked and nipped at her. Her head fell back and her breath left her. She gripped his wide shoulders, and curved her nails into him. A hiss escaped his mouth, but his erection grew impossibly harder beneath her.

“This is a very bad idea, Abe.” Even she could hear that she didn’t mean what she said.

“No, baby, I think this is the best idea we’ve had in a long time.” He continued kissing her jaw and made his way down to her neck. The light feel of him sucking at her pulse point had her shifting atop him again. He groaned and his hands landed on her ass to squeeze the mounds before spreading them slightly. He started moving her back and forth on his jean-clad erection, creating a delicious rocking motion that sent hard jolts of pleasure straight to the center of her body.

“That is it, sweets.” He panted against her neck, and the fact he was having just as hard a time as she was turned her on even more. “That is sooo it.” His hips started lifting slightly, causing his erection to press impossibly harder against her cunt. “I can feel you, can feel how hot and wet you are.” His mouth was back on hers, his kisses so hard and demanding that she couldn’t keep up, but that was okay. That was really, really okay.

“Do you know how long I’ve wanted you, Sophia?” The only sound that left her was a muffled moan against his mouth. “I’ve wanted you for so long. So fucking long.” He rocked her atop him harder and faster, creating a friction that had her trying to catch her breath. Her clit swelled from his ministrations and she knew her orgasm was only a few moments away. “I’ve dreamed about what your sweet little pussy would feel like on my cock, what your tits would feel like in my mouth.”

Yes, oh God, yes.

“For years, Soph, fucking years I’ve wanted you.” His tongue speared in her mouth and he touched every part of her. “Take your shirt off.” She didn’t hesitate when he stopped momentarily so she could remove the offending material. Tossing the shirt aside, she saw Abe’s gaze rake over her chest. “The bra, Sophia, take off the fucking bra.” There was no anger in his voice, just a deep-seated need.

Reaching behind her, she unsnapped her bra, and before she slipped the straps down her shoulders, Abe removed one of his hands from her ass and placed it in the center of her chest. She looked into his eyes and saw him staring at her face. They didn’t speak for several long seconds and she wondered if he was having second thoughts. If she were smart, she would put a stop to this, tell him that this would ruin their relationship. The logical part of her brain snapped to attention and she opened her mouth to say just that, but Abe’s finger on her lips stopped her.

“Don’t say the words, please.” He all but pleaded with his words and eyes. “I want this, baby, and I know you want this too.” The last part was almost phrased it as a question. After a second he removed his finger and slid first one then the other strap of her bra off. He held her stare even though her breasts were bared, but then he slowly let his eyes fall to her chest. Her nipples beaded under his sight and chills popped up along her flesh.

“You’re beautiful, Sophia. So fucking beautiful.” Before she could comprehend his words, his mouth latched onto her right nipple and he sucked furiously. She speared her hands into his hair, grabbing chunks of the soft locks and holding his head to her chest. “I knew you’d be like this, knew you’d taste like this.” His words were muffled against her breast. The suckling of his mouth, sweep of his tongue, and stinging nip of his teeth were almost her undoing.

Was she so desperate for his touch that she would continue with this, let the pleasure cloud her judgment and possibly ruin everything between them?

His hips jacked up at the same time his teeth pulled at her nipple. The pleasure/pain combination was her undoing and she climaxed, hard. She heard a low, mewling noise and realized it came from her.

Abe grunted and he sucked harder on her, alternating between her breasts and prolonging her orgasm. Before the pleasure dissipated, Abe gripped her waist and flipped her on her back.

“I’m not nearly done, baby.” His words were deep and low and poised right over her still-pulsating clit. She held her breath, waiting for that first touch of his mouth to her pussy.

Falling for Trouble is an enjoyable, quick read by the always delightful Jenika Snow. Falling for Trouble had it all – two interesting characters that you are rooting for, a believable storyline, and a lot of heart.

Sophia and Abe have been friends since they were children. They bonded over their difficult childhoods and still took care of each other no matter what. Abe drinks more than he should and sleeps with just about any woman. Sophia is secretly in love with Abe but is afraid to tell him for fear she will lose even Abe’s friendship.

One night Abe has too much to drink and when Sophia drives him home, the two sleep together. The next day Abe has no memory of their passionate night. Sophia realizes that she must move on from Abe and she begins to date another man. But soon Sophia realizes she’s pregnant and wonders hoe Abe will react when she finally tells him the truth.

I was fascinated by Sophia and Abe’s relationship. There were closer than many couples I know, but they continued to pretend that they were just close friends. Each morning Sophia would show up at Abe’s house to make him breakfast. She would just come late enough to ensure that she would not run into the girl du jour. Abe seemed to take Sophie for granted and she let him.

Abe is definitely the bad boy. He let his painful past haunt him to the point of throwing away Sophia, the only good thing in his life. Because Abe did not love himself, he could not believe that Sophia could love him. So Abe makes the decision to turn his life around. He works on making himself the kind of man that Sophia deserves. But is he too late? Even knowing that romance books have happily ever after, I was transfixed on the pages wondering what was going to happen next.

Ms. Snow was able to tell a lot of story in Falling for Trouble despite the limited pages. I felt Sophia’s struggle dealing with Abe’s lack of memory. I cheered when Abe turned his life around. Ms. Snow pulled me into the story from the first page and I read Falling for Trouble straight through until I got to the happy ending. They say good things come in small packages – Falling for Trouble is definitely a good thing.

This was a really good friends to lovers story. Abe and Sophia had been dancing around their attraction for each other until one night. Abe finally got his head cleared and realized that Sophia wasn't lying to him. Abe apologized and confessed his feeling to Sophia. These two were great together!

Becoming best friends when they were younger and helping each other through their horrible childhoods, Sophia Kidd fell in love with Abe Rochester but has never been able to find the courage to tell him. However, after another night of making sure Abe gets home after drinking himself into stupor and getting into a fight, they kiss and she finds herself unable to resist allowing it to go any further.

Abe Rochester has done plenty of stupid things in his life, but hurting his best friend is the last thing he wants to do. However, he can’t seem to help it. After drinking and getting into a fight one night, Abe wakes up the next morning to have no recollection of the night before including having sex with his best friend.

This book was a great story of friends becoming lovers and then the hero not even knowing that the relationship status quo had changed. It made me feel very sorry for the heroine, especially when she realized the consequences of their one night stand. The dialogue was well-written and it revealed how strong their friendship was when Sophia helped Abe after he’d drunk himself into a stupor and then gotten into a fight. Not all friends are that dedicated. The sex scenes were hot and illustrated how great these two are for each other. They’d been through so much, so taking their friendship to the next level was bound to happen, even if Sophia thought that Abe only saw her as a little sister. What I liked so much about both the hero and heroine was how dedicated to their friendship each they were, at least until they hit a snag when they became lovers but Abe couldn’t remember a thing about their night together.

Overall, Ms. Snow has impressed me with the fabulous novel and I can’t wait to read more of her work in the future.

Falling for Trouble is an amazing story of best friends falling for each other. Sophia has been on her own since she was taken away from her drug addicted mother as a child. Abe has also been alone ever since a tragic car accident took the lives of his parents when he was just a child. Having no one but each other, Abe and Sophia have been best friends ever since. Now 22, Sophia can't deny how drastically her feelings have changed toward Abe. Abe, finding it too hard to deal with the lifelong pain of losing his parents, uses alcohol and women to cope. Rather than admit her true feelings, Sophia remains the ever
loyal best friend and watches from the side lines as Abe goes from woman to woman in a drunken spiral. That is until one night when Abe and Sophia end up spending the night together. The only problem... Abe is too drunk to remember any thing that happened in the morning!

This is my absolute favorite kind of story. I love the angst and drama that a best friends turned lovers
story line offers up. And there is no shortage of angst and drama in this book. The build keeps building and just when you think you've reached the climax of the story, there's more curve balls ahead.

I adored the characters in this story. Sophia is instantly likeable as the devoted friend. The author does
such a superb job of taking you through Sophia's heartbreaking journey of unrequited love. Abe is just as likeable. Of course I wanted to shake him over and over for his reckless behavior and how utterly oblivious he is to the feelings of his best friend. You can't help but fall for these characters,
the beautiful dynamic between them. The dialogue between them is sweet and funny and so perfect for lifelong best friends. I adored every bit of it.

My typical gauge for how much I love a story is how many times I can feel my heart tug painfully while I'm reading. This entire book is one perfect chest squeeze and I'm so addicted to that lovely pain. I adored this story, I adored the characters. I can't wait to read more from Jenika Snow!

Sophia Kidd had known Abe Rochester since they were children. They are best friends and Sophia is in love with Abe. But she thinks he only thinks of her as a sister. So she does not pursue those feelings until one night when they have sex. She thinks everything will change until the next morning. Abe has no memory of whom he had sex with and does not understand why Sophia is pulling away from him.
Sophia is a smart and strong woman. She loved Abe but is not willing to be one of the masses of women that pursue him. She wants Abe to recognize her as something other than a friend. I cannot imagine having sex with someone that you love and the next day they don’t even remember it. How that broke her heart.
Abe drinks too much, and sleeps with almost anyone. Sophia is always there the next day to help him with his hangover and make him breakfast. When she begins to pull away, he realizes how much he loves her. Once he finds out Sophia’s bombshell, if she is right, he has to straighten up quick.
The chemistry between Sophia and Abe is explosive. They were great friends before anything sexual happened between them. I think Abe has not looked for anything permanent because he had Sophia until she began to pull away. The sex scenes between Sophia and Abe was hot and steamy.
I am not a fan of short stories, but I loved this story! Overall, this was a wonderful story. I hope to see more from these characters and this author in the future.

  6. Just One More Romance Book Blog 5 Star Review

How do you tell your childhood friend that you’re in love with them? Sophia has been in love with Abe for what seems like forever but Abe has never shown any interest in Sophia other than as a close friend and sister. Abe is known as “trouble” in the town and has quite a reputation with the ladies and drunken bar brawls. But no matter how much trouble Abe gets into or what demons haunt his nights he is still always there for Sophia, and for her that is enough if it is the only kind of love she can get from him.
Sophia is constantly there to bail Abe out of trouble, clean up his mess and make sure he gets home safe. On the anniversary of his mothers birthday Abe drinks himself stupid and tries to cause a fight. Sophia is there once again to defuse the situation and take Abe home to sober up. However her curious touches to an inebriated Abe turn into a night of passion with some very substantial consequences. The next morning when Abe is not surprised to see Sophia in his kitchen looking quit disheveled with no recollection of the night events Sophia flees in humiliation and hurt.

With Sophia distancing herself from Abe he finally takes notice of her and decides to make himself worthy of her love, but is not quick enough to act. Sophia has decided to move on with her life and maybe find happiness with another. Fate (it’s a beautiful thing) steps in and Sophia now has to confide to Abe about their passionate night together and the child she now carries. Now comes the hard part convincing him that it all happened.

I loved this story. It pulled me in from the first page and kept me turning till the end. Author Jenika Snow has a natural talent for writing characters that make the reader feel what that characters are feeling. Her characters are real; their problems are relatable and could easily be your own. To be able to relate a character to your readers like she does is the true talent of a writer. I can’t wait to read more by Jenika Snow.
