Romance on the Go

Ellen Ragsdale is a scholarship student who just wants to get her college degree and start her life. Alexander Cord is an English professor who hides his loneliness behind an arrogant facade. School rules have kept them at arm's length all year long. But on the last night of Ellen's college career, the two of them risk everything to find out if their mutual attraction is more than a classroom crush.

Excerpt:

"Did you know that you always blush when you talk to me?" he said quietly. "It's charming. You look like a medieval maiden receiving her first suitor."

It felt like someone had painted fire across her skin. She ducked her head, staring dumbly at the hallway's scarred paint. He couldn't know. Nobody knew that about her. It wasn't that obvious.

Was it?

"Interesting." She could hear the smile in his voice. "I meant it as a compliment, but perhaps I struck closer to the truth than I'd intended." He moved closer, and she could feel the heat from his whole body now, warming her like an invisible caress. "Are you?"

She swallowed hard. He couldn't be asking what she thought he was asking. "A-am I"

"A maiden. A virgin. I believe a popular term is 'unicorn bait.'" His voice dropped, turning into a soft rumble. "I have to admit, I'm puzzled as to how someone as lovely and intelligent as you could still be virginal."

Her entire face now burned under his gaze. She'd gone on the occasional date, usually doubling with Keisha or Dianne, but once the guys found out what her schedule was like they didn't bother calling again. "Too busy, I guess. Working, studying."

To her surprise, cool fingers slid under her chin, gently turning her face up. "What a shame," Cord said, his voice low and soft. "But if it's of any consolation, men your age do tend to be rather slapdash and impatient when it comes to women. I assure you, you haven't missed out on much by skipping the undergraduate sexual circus." The façade of the academic disappeared. Underneath was a man she didn't know, warm and standing so close to her. "That being said, I wonder ... would you be willing to consider me?"

"What" Her throat clicked, it was so dry. She swallowed and tried again. "What are you saying?"

He tilted his head to the side. "I want to take you to bed, Miss Ragsdale. I want to kiss that pink mouth of yours, undress you ever so slowly, play with those gorgeous breasts and suck your nipples before I caress every inch of your body. I want to bury my tongue between your legs and lap at your clit, and when you're dripping wet I want to bury my cock in you. I want to see that sweet mouth of yours open and scream my name as I make you come over and over again." Now she could smell his cologne, something masculine, woody, and underneath that, the musk of clean male. "Come home with me tonight, Miss Ragsdale. Let me make love to you. I promise you, you won't regret it."

She was wet. Just from his words, she was wet.

  1. I LOVED this book! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Dec 2013

    From Cocktails and Books (http://www.cocktailsandbooks.com/review-grading-the-curve-by-nicola-cameron/):

I LOVED this book! At first, I thought it was going to be super cheesy, but was pleasantly surprised once the initial few pages had been read. Ellen is a young college student who’s about to graduate and is celebrating with her friends at a local restaurant. They’re chatting about their finals and everyone is talking about how horrible one of their professors is – Alexander Cord. He’s a bitter, arrogant man that most students dread being around. But not Ellen. Ellen is strangely attracted to him, and is sad to be leaving college and his classroom. All of her friends know she’s got a thing for him, so they tell her she has nothing to lose, to go ahead and tell him. That’s when they notice that he’s at the restaurant, just a few tables away. When Ellen gets up the nerve to finally walk over to him, he gets up and walks right past her – leaving her feeling ridiculous. She excuses herself to the restroom so her friends don’t see her get upset, and upon reaching the restroom, she bumps in to none other than Alexander.

From this point in the story, Alexander reveals that he’s got a thing for Ellen and has since he laid eyes on her. He lays the sexual advances on pretty thick, and begs her to come home with him. Being a virgin, Ellen is embarrassed, but decides she has to live in the moment and enjoy her youth. She says yes, and leaves the restaurant to flee with Alexander.

Once in his home, Ellen shares some of her most personal moments in life with him, and grows ever closer to the professor. They share an intense and beautiful night together that is so sweet it makes your heart melt. But their romantic evening isn’t perfect, as the professor has some secrets of his own and they both must decide just how much the other means to them.

These characters stayed with me. I finished the book a few days ago and I’m STILL wishing I was back in the story with them. They were so cute together, and their romance was so deep and….. well, perfectly flawed. I loved the intensity of their attraction and their tenderness towards one another. I especially loved the compassion of Ellen and the vulnerability of Alexander. It was so good – I still can’t believe it was only a short story. That’s definitely one talented author that I’ll seek out in the future!

  2. The Romance Studio 4 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Nov 2013

Ellen Ragsdale wanted more than a teacher-student relationship with Alexander Cord, but didn’t think he would want the same thing. When he makes the first move, will she accept his offer or decide not to risk her heart and play it safe by walking away? When she learns the truth about his past, will her feelings towards him change? Or will it only make her want him more?

I enjoyed this contemporary romance story. This is a fast-paced story that is filled with sexy banter and several very steamy sexual encounters between the two main characters. I liked Ellen. She’s smart and a bit shy but all shyness flies out the window when Alex walks into her life. I liked Alex too. He’s strong and very confident. He knows what he wants and that’s Ellen and he will do anything to make that happen. He seems to want to push her away so that she can find a better man, but Ellen is not willing to look for another man when she has found such a great man already. I also liked her friends they were a wild and funny bunch. The love scenes between Alex and Ellen are melting hot. This story contains very explicit love scenes and language.
