Romance on the Go

Feeling like her life needs changing, Gina Marsden decides to hire a handyman to knock down the wall between her two sons’ bedrooms so she can have her dream in-home exercise room.

Sean McQuire’s been down on his luck, first being dumped by his fiancée and then losing his job. When Gina phones him, asking him stop by to look at the job he has no idea that she’s going to be a forty-something, attractive widow that turns him on like no one ever before.

Can they keep things all business or could it be that maybe this time they’ve found what they’ve been looking for in both life and love?

Excerpt:

Gina’s heartbeat picked up when she spotted Sean’s work truck pulling into her driveway two days later.

The previous night, around midnight, in her deep desire to grab an ice cream from the freezer, she’d gotten into a panic and seriously thought about calling to tell him that she’d changed her mind about tearing down the wall.

Not that she didn’t want her own exercise room, but the thought of having someone so young and sexy in her house for what would probably be the best part of a week, unnerved her.

She found him attractive, which wasn’t a big deal. After all, she was a widow and single, but he had to be thirteen or fourteen years her junior. Did that technically make him young enough to be her son? Yeah, it might be stretching it, but nevertheless how awkward would it be for her to lust after him as he worked in her home?

The doorbell rang.

She’d remain calm. He’d come into her home each day and do his work. She’d stay out of his way, get on with designing jewelry in her studio, and soon it would all be over and she’d never have to set eyes upon him again.

Gina fluffed up her hair before answering the door. She swallowed and almost wanted to fan her face with her hand when she saw him. Today he wore a white t-shirt, the material pulling across his chest and abdomen making her defenses slump to near zero. And then after looking at his abs, all she could do was focus on the bulge in his jeans.  Her pussy hadn’t been put on this high an alert in years.

“Morning, Gina.”

“Hi.”

She stepped aside and let him in to the hallway.

“I’ll just put my tools here for a minute while I go get the dust cloths. When I start knocking the wall down, you might want to shut all the doors so the dust doesn’t travel through the house.”

She nodded, not really taking in anything he was saying, but rather watching those gorgeous lips of his move with each word.

Go and get yourself a diet soda and don’t look at him.

“I’ll be in my studio if you need me. It’s just off the kitchen. And help yourself to ice cold drinks in the fridge.”

“Thanks, I might do that. Weatherman said we’re in for a scorching hot week.”

“Yeah, that’s what I heard on the radio this morning.”

Gina turned, rushed to the kitchen and willed herself not to look at him again. That was until she passed him in the hallway and saw the muscles in his biceps bulging as he carried a pile of dust cloths up the stairs.

A walk. I need to go for a walk. To get some air, and it will be my exercise for the day. However, before she did that, she’d have to tell him she was leaving just in case he needed something and came looking for her. She walked up the stairs and noticed him bending over to place the cloths on the floor.

Bad idea, and bad timing. His ass was pure delight.

She coughed. He turned around, almost knocking over the radio he’d placed by the door.

“Sorry, I should have warned you I was standing here. I just wanted to tell you that I’m going out for a walk. Should you need anything I’ll be back in about thirty minutes.”

“Okay, but be careful out there because it’s going to get really hot. Take some water with you.”

“I will. See you later.”

He nodded and she left.

  1. The Romance Studio 4 Star Review

Posted by on 15th May 2013

Gina meets Sean when he goes to her house to do a job for her. They are attracted to each other from their very first meeting. The attraction seems to grow each time they see each other. Will they be able to have a relationship? Or will they let insignificant obstacles stand in their way?
I enjoyed this contemporary romance story. I liked Gina. She is a smart and hard working woman. She somehow tends to see her imperfections only. She thinks she's old and overweight, but Sean doesn't see her that way. He likes her just the way she is. Her so-called imperfections become beauty in his eyes. I liked Sean. He is a man who had known heartache in his life, but didn't let that defeat him. He is super sweet to her and knows how to treat her like a lady. I loved how he defended her from a person who even though had his best interest at heart still said some very hurtful words that were aimed at her. The love scenes between them are sizzling hot. This story contains very explicit love scenes and language.
