Product Description

Fired from the job she so desperately needs, Andy Jones is shocked to find a wallet stuffed full of cash. It belongs to none other than Alexander Ioannou, millionaire extraordinaire, and the man responsible for her firing.

Alexander comes looking for the woman he suspects of misappropriating not only his funds, but his grandmother's ring. He's shocked to find it’s the woman who has been haunting his dreams.

Rather than turn her in, Alexander thinks of more interesting ways for Andy to pay back her debt…

Alex gritted his teeth as Andy took him in her hand. She looked so shy, so hesitant, yet underneath all of that Alex could see a determination in her eyes, an excitement which said quite clearly that she wanted to do this. Wanted it and was planning to have it.
The thought excited him like nothing else. She surprised him at all turns. Refusing his offer to become his mistress, allowing him to fuck her, and now, to do this? It was all Alex could do not to come there and then, before she had even so much as sucked him.
Slowly, her hand curled around his girth, fingers not even meeting. She pumped his cock up and down, just like he had in front of her, before reaching out and running her tongue over his tip.
“You taste all salty,” she said.
    “You don’t like it?”
She shook her head. “No, I like it a lot. I want to feel all of it, Alex. I want you to cum down my throat.”
If possible, Alex hardened even more at her words. His little kitten had a dirty streak, one he suspected she was just discovering. He felt so fucking lucky.
“Take me into your mouth,” he told her.
She did leaning forward before wrapping her pouty little lips around him. The feel of that mouth was amazing, and Alex clenched his fists, desperately trying for control.
She bobbed her head up and down, not able to take more than an inch of him in. It was enough. He could feel her little tongue sweeping across his slit, whilst her mouth caressed his tip. He rocked his hips back and forth, pushing a little bit more in each time. She groaned around him and reached out to cup his heavy sacks.
He found himself moaning and rocking a little faster. God, he wanted to fill her entire mouth with his cock, but it was impossible. She wasn’t big enough, and her lip was still sore.
Pulling out, he tilted her chin and almost came undone at the desire he could see in her eyes. “Turn around, bend over the couch, your pants around your knees.”
Excitement fizzled between them, and she rushed to obey him. Bending over the couch, she turned to look at him, suddenly a little shy. Alex smiled and lifted her skirt, before pulling her pants down—as he’d asked.
She sucked in a shocked breath and pushed her little ass out. Alex didn’t even think before burying himself in her—to the hilt.
    “Oh God….” she breathed.
He gripped her hips and pounded into her, balls slapping against her. He couldn’t pound enough. Her wet tightness gripped him; her juices flooded down his cock before drenching her balls. He was going to come, he knew it, but it was too soon. Where the hell had his much vaunted stamina gone?
    “Rub your clit,” he growled.
    “No… Alex… I can’t,” she whispered.
    “Rub it!”
She whimpered and slipped a hand down her front.
“Rub it fast, Andy, come around me.”
She moaned, and he felt the rhythm of her hand. It was too much, and he gritted his teeth, desperate to keep a little bit of control. She had to come soon. He could not hold out. Keeping one hand on her hip, he took the other and rubbed a finger against her puckered hole.
“Alex,” she shrieked. “Oh, God, no, don’t do that.”
Ignoring her plea he circled the rim, all the while pounding into her wet pussy. Careful, mindful of her inexperience, he didn’t slip his finger in, just teased the outer edges.
    “Oh. My. God!”
Her scream pierced the air. Her pussy clenched him with unbelievable force, and it was all Alex needed. He let out a hoarse cry and pumped himself into her, letting loose the most incredible orgasm he’d ever felt, filling her up with his seed.
She whimpered underneath him. Her head fell prone on the tip of the couch, her hand dropping. Minutes passed, and they both just paused, both panting with satisfaction and sated desire.
Eventually it was Andy who broke the silence. “Alex, what did you do?” she whispered. “It was just….”
    “Incredible?” Alex finished.
She laughed, a slightly shy, little laugh but one all the same.
    “You…” she began.
But Alex didn’t really hear her next words because though sated beyond belief, reality was coming back, and it occurred to him then what he should have realized the moment it had or rather had not happened.
He forgot to use a condom.

Left with a mountain of debts—after her cheating fiancé ran her business into the ground while she lay in a hospital bed recovering from a car accident—Andrea Jones works around the clock to make things right with her bill collectors. When she is caught sleeping on the job by one of her employers, she knows she must find more work, fast. But when a mistake leaves her with his wallet, she almost looks forward to seeing the heartthrob jerk, even if just for the time it takes to return it. Will fate allow her even more time in his enigmatic presence?

Alexander Iannou was told by his grandmother he would find the love of his life in her hometown. Keeping the ring she gave him for his future bride in his wallet as a reminder of what she advised him, he still isn’t sure her version of love will ever be attainable. Finding Andy—curled exhausted in a pile of cardboard and looking fragile—he fires her and knows he had to. But his continued guilt over what should have been a simple and logical business decision haunts him.

When a mugging leaves her broken and he finds out, he knows he has a second chance to take care of the obviously struggling Andy. With her fiery independence and his domineering protectiveness, sparks quickly fly. Will their passion lead to something worth keeping? Or will they part ways after she has finished Paying Her Debt?

The tenderness between the main characters in this contemporary erotic was evident and well-founded within the story. Although Alexander was somewhat pushy—even going so far as to practically kidnap Andy at one point—the author did a good job of creating a believable love story within the tale. While this reader found Alex’s highhanded nature disturbing, and Andy’s willingness to cave to it due to the passion he elicited, somewhat unbelievable due to her nature, other readers might simply fall under the spell of the obvious love they show each other. The sex was phenomenal and the world building well done, however, this reader was put off by the dominant-to-the-point-of-commanding male and strong but easily led female.

Andy Jones worked at Finest Foods an upscale food chain; even though in her recent position she couldn't even afford the food there she made sure her shelves were perfect even as sick as she felt. Seriously injured in an accident a year before had caused her to lose everything and owe debts beyond her means which had her working 18 hour days with only a few hours of sleep. Feeling as the weight of the world on her shoulders she made a mistake at Finest when the owner Alexander Iannou caught her napping on the job that caused her to be fired.

Knowing that the end of the world seemed around the corner she had the never give up attitude. Andy needed no one and made sure that she was independent from men depending on no one but herself.

Alexander Iannou couldn't put his finger on it but he didn't make it to be this rich by being stupid but that is how he felt when Andy walked out after the embarrassment of being fired and spilling the context of her purse in front of him.

Andy felt responsible when the wallet that belonged to Alexander Iannou was stolen during a mugging she took Alex up on his proposition to pay of the debt. Becoming a live in mistress was way out of Andy's league but Alex wanted to show her a real lady is treated with tenderness and love and sex that went beyond her imagination.

The sexual tension in this book has you wanting more. Emma did a wonderful job of bringing Alex and Andy to real life and having their life and love entwined together in such a way that dreams do come true.

I wished it was longer but it was still a wonderful story.

Alex has the whole looks of a Greek god thing going for him. And it doesn’t hurt that he is a multimillionaire, unfortunately he is also self-centered and ruthless. He is infuriatingly insulting to Andy when he demands she become his mistress. In an odd arrangement, Andy does agree to be Alex’s lover, but she refuses payment. Throughout the story Andy’s strong personality shines as she teaches Alex that money and power are less important than true love and compassion.

Andy Jones has met with some misfortune and was working two jobs, until she gets fired from one by her boss, Alexander Ioannou.

At first this story seemed to have lots of clichés: down on her luck poor girl meets billionaire, for instance. However, the author gave it some twists that I liked. She did a top notch job introducing us to Andy. We’re plunged into the story of where she’s working…in a gourmet food store. The description was great and I really felt like I was there with Andy. You learn that she is working two jobs and can sympathize with her when she’s tired and accidently falls asleep on the job. She’s caught red handed by the hero, Alex, who comes across as sexy and yes, you like him despite the fact that he fires poor Andy.

Trouble seemed to follow her everywhere. For example, his wallet, which contained his grandmother’s ring, falls into her purse and then Andy getting mugged. Alex is her knight in shining armor and I liked the idea of the ring and that his grandmother left it to him for the sole purpose of giving it to the woman of his dreams. I knew that person was Andy, but the ring being lost put me on edge and made me want to read more.

The two characters came across as real people who had at last found one another. Andy is a modern girl and very likeable so you’re glad she wins over this prince charming. The dialogue between these two was great. This is 131 pages but pacing is brisk so you can finish it in an hour or two. I also liked the secondary characters in this story and thought Alex’s friend definitely deserves a story all his own.

If you’re looking for a Cinderella type story with lots of sexy scenes, this will be a perfect read for you.

How far do you go when truly desperate without crossing the line? Andy has been working herself into exhaustion trying to meet her obligations. But that is no excuse when the big boss shows up to find her sleeping on the job. Getting fired forces to find creative solution to Paying Her Debt.

Down on her luck doesn’t even begin to describe Andy Jones’ situation. A little over a year ago she was a successful business owner with a fiancé and a house. Now she was working two crappy jobs while living in an one room efficiency in the worse part of town. All this after a bad accident due to a drunk drive and her fiancé taking off with all her money and her assistant from her bakery shop while she tried to recover from the accident. So she was left holding all the debt from her business after a month of no sales and a pile of medical bills. Working as a hotel maid and a stocking clerk at the fancy Finest Foods were the best jobs she could get even with her education with the economy as it is. But she is working herself into the ground to pay these debts, and it ends up coming back to bite her… Her manager sends her to the back when the owner comes for a surprise inspection of Finest Foods, yet she gets caught having fallen asleep! And of course is immediacy fired by the arrogant, unreasonable man!

Alexander Ioannou is a rich, powerful business man. His growing corporation is based on his Finest Foods stores- one of the fastest growing companies in the world. He believes he is happy with his growing businesses, several homes and ‘perfect’ life. But his grandmother didn’t think so and made him promise on her deathbed that he would take her wedding ring back to her hometown and look for a girl to take for a wife. He promised to go look, never to actually take a wife! Luckily he opened one of his Finest Foods store there last year and will have something to do while keeping his promise. So he is having her girlhood home renovate but has to keep busy until he can move in. A surprise inspection of his store should have been no big deal. Finding a sleeping employee is a first even for Alex! But he is unable to get the girl out of his head…and then he finds his wallet missing, the one with his grandmother’s ring!

It’s a good thing he remembers that the wallet kept slipping out all day or there would be hell to pay. But now Alex has to track down a fired employee. One that won’t leave his thoughts, or dreams it seems. Then he finds out she is in trouble…and has too much pride to make things easy, either. Now, Alex finds that he wants more than just the missing wallet, and will have to use all the skills that have made him so successful to get what he wants.

Arg, what is it with the misleading blurbs now-a-days? Right from the start in Paying Her Debt Alex knew that Andy didn’t take his wallet. And his grandmother’s ring was in the wallet, not something she stole additionally, as the blurb makes it sound like. Now, I fully understand that the situation in the book is much more complicated, so an easy idea that grabs our interests is more important here, but do they have to make it sound like she’s a thief? Just tired of so many blurbs where I wonder if those writing them have even read the stories. At least this one is similar to what actually happens.

Oh, the irony of Alex! Emma Shortt has written brilliant characters in Paying Her Debt yet I’m not really being nice when I saw that about Alex (nice to Emma, not to Alex, lol). When we first meet him, Alex is complaining about how his staff couldn’t deal with things and figure out details themselves, how the whole point of having them was to ease some of the stress from him (learn delegation). Then he talks about perfection being worth the cost, his way being right, Finest Foods being top store because people willing to pay for his offerings, etc…Proving HIS way is the only way he will accept. Makes it impossible for the staff to please him if he was only his was and it have to be perfect… he has no clue he makes it too hard for his staff to please him. Funny but sad for him. The contradiction of Alex would be funny if he wasn’t such an arrogant butthead about some things. He really doesn’t see that he is rude, uncaring, or slights people-really doesn’t see people as people but just tools for getting things done. If his grandmother hadn’t stepped in, he probably would have ended up a rich old man alone with his money but little else at the rate he was going. Good thing she pushed him into finding his roots by going back to her hometown.

And Andy is no pushover in Paying Her Debt either! It’s a good thing Andy has enough pride to not be a gold digger just using Alex for his money. Because after all her hard work, his money would be tempting to anyone, but especially someone with those huge debts! This is almost a case of the rich guy being drawn to something he can’t buy- if it weren’t for the fact that Andy mesmerized him before he propositioned her. Andy standing up to Alex and telling him the unvarnished truth probably for the first time in his life is the wake up call he needs. It also is more appealing than he ever would have expected. These two ended up showing the other that there is more in and to life than just hard work, Alex making money and Andy trying to pay off her debts, break even. They are both hard workers, but don’t really enjoy life. Andy did have a joy of life at one time, but one gathers that Alex never really did. They bring out the better side in the other as love is supposed to do. And watching the arrogant, bossy man match wills with the feisty, independent woman use to taking care of herself is funny at times.

Emma Shortt did a fantastic job with Paying Her Debt. Andy’s situation is tragic, yet she is strong and looking for pity or handouts. Alex is arrogant, “never wrong,” and blind to his faults (with enough money to get away with this attitude). Luck for us, we get to watch these two collide and help each other. Emma has a special talent for telling super sexy stories, and Alex is more than willing to fulfill all of Andy’s fantasies that her no-good ex-fiancé made her feel bad for having in the first place. Paying Her Debt is one book going in my re-read stack that I will be enjoying again!

This was my first book by Emma Shortt.  The cover caught my attention and then the preview for the book. I can honestly say I'm interested in reading more books by the author.

Andrea aka Andy,  works two jobs that she really needs just to pay off her debts. While at the job Fine Foods own by Alexander, Andy was caught sleeping on the job and was fired. While home, Andy realizes that she has Alexander's wallet by accident and it contains a priceless item securely wrapped in the wallet. While in possession of the wallet something happens to Andy that allows her to not have the wallet anymore. Alexander is a millionaire with a store chain across the country. Even though Alex fires Andy, he feels an attraction to her. He uses the missing wallet/debt as an opportunity to get Andy in his bed.

I really enjoyed this read, but I have to admit, for me personally the beginning tiny bit dragged out for me. I understood the build up of the story and what the author did. Other than that bit it took off for me. Andy was a very hard worker and sweet that you have no choice but to fall for her. Alex is the sexy Greek guy, that once he knows what he wants he goes out and take it.  I enjoyed the relationship between Alex and Andy once they came together and feelings came into play. This concept of a story never gets old to me and I enjoy reading them. I will also say George, Alex's friend and right hand man seems sexy as well. The way Andy described him makes me think that he should get his own little quick story.

    Storyline:FAIR
    Intimacy: GOOD
    Enjoyment: FAIR
