The Alpha Shifter Collection, 6

Tori is weak, small, and vulnerable, the runt of the litter, so the pack does everything in its power to protect her. Jack has always cared about her, but when he screws up and some innocent fun almost kills Tori, she is sent to live with her uncle to keep her safe.

Now three years later, Tori is back, and the moment Jack sees her, he knows she’s his mate. What he’s not prepared for is the revelation that she might not make it through her transition into a wolf in two years’ time.

Tori knows the danger she’s in. With the help of her uncle she’s trying to get stronger, to prepare for the time when she must become a wolf. She wants all the help she can get, and is happy to get help from Jack, the guy who has always been nice to her.

Time is running out, and Jack doesn’t see an answer. If his mate dies, he doesn’t want to live without her. There is only a slim chance of her surviving, but it means he has to break one of the pack’s most sacred laws. He’s willing to risk anything for his mate, but what will happen when the pack discovers what he has done? Will Tori forgive him? Will she accept him as her mate? Or will it all be for nothing?

Excerpt:

“Again, I know, but it doesn’t mean we can’t try something.” He took a sip of the coffee, tossing a soda toward her. “Drink and we’ll get started.”

“You’re so bossy. When did you get so bossy?”

“Just do it.” He was smiling, which was a good sign.

Tori gulped as he removed his shirt. He was ripped in all the right places. She’d never seen so many muscles on one man. Licking her lips, she took a sip of the cold soda. He’d brought a small cooler with him to keep the drinks cool even though he was drinking coffee.

“Earth to Tori.”

He was waving a hand in front of her face.

“I’m so sorry. I zoned out there for a moment.”

“Do you want to tell me why?”

“No, I don’t. I was just thinking about the forest. The green trees, the messy ground, frogs, spiders, yay.” She was rambling now, trying to cover up the fact she was eyeballing him.

“Do you like what you see?”

“No.” She snorted, lying very badly.

“You do?”

“No. I don’t. You’re gross, eww.”

He raised a brow.

“Okay, fine, you’re hot to look at but whatever.”

“If you got any redder you’d be on fire.”

She threw some of her soda at him. “Stop it. You’re hot, and you know it. You’re just trying to embarrass me.”

“You think I’m hot.”

“Will you stop? You’re supposed to be helping me, not doing this.” She waved her hand between them. “You’re trying to torment me on purpose.”

“You’re really easy to torment.”

“Well, stop. I don’t want you to torment me. It’s not fair.” She took a sip of her soda, trying to look elsewhere.

“We’ll come back to that little discussion another day. Right now we’ve got to focus. Your parents don’t like me taking all of your time.”

“You are around a lot. I’m surprised you’ve not been sent away, far away.” She crossed her legs, handing him her soda. Their fingers touched, and her wolf lifted her head.

Mate.

Her heart started to race, and she didn’t know what to do.

The Romance Reviews
Written by TRR on 5th Aug 2015

Tori is the runt of the pack and there is doubt that she will make it through her transition to wolf, and Jack will risk everything to see that she does in this riveting paranormal romance. Two years is all Jack will have with Tori if doesn't survive and the reader can't help but get caught up in the gut wrenching reality as Jack spends those two years making Tori stronger. These strong captivating characters demand that you don't give up on them while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of anticipation with suspense and romance. Although Tori is under-aged and forbidden, Jack's loyalty and devotion to his mate adds lots of sweet zing to the story. Tension and expectation builds throughout the story as time runs out. Jack pulls out all the stops and risks everything to help her through while his wolf is adding his own pressure to the mix. This adds to the dynamic intensity that the reader feels flowing from every page. The well written scenes with vivid details capture the imagination and the suspense draws readers in, compelling them to read every last word. This romance is gripping and sweet and although the story jumps through time quite a bit, it fits the story and is easy to follow. This is the first story that I have read by this author and once I finished it, I was delighted to discover that she has plenty more for me to read, so I can't wait to get started. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/viewbooksreview.php?bookid=17740#sthash.lmRNU6Z0.dpuf

The TBR Pile

I did love the characters. Tori was humorous despite being the runt. Jack was a gentleman and very sexy. This book was so close to perfection! I think Tori should have been older. At sixteen, it was almost creepy with the mate stuff. If she’d been older, she could have kissed her mate throughout the book and I think it really would have made the romance stronger. My other complaint is that Tori is the runt. She’s too thin, short but when she transitions suddenly she’s...overweight. Why? That made zero sense. It feels as if the author wanted this to be in the rubenesque category so she just added that quickly.

Jack and Tori's story is awesome!
Written by Angie on 5th May 2015

This book starts out with Jack and Tori jumping in a lake. Things take a turn and Tori's parents send her away so she won't get hurt or hurt herself accidentally anymore. Tori's uncle trains Tori to help her be strong to make it through the transition. Tori comes home for a visit and Jack realizes that she is his mate. Tori is clueless, but knows that Jack has always been nice to her. Jack ends up going back with Tori to help with her training cause he doesn't want to lose his mate. Jack knows that Tori is underage and he won't do anything until after she comes of age and goes through the transition. This is a really good story about love and how Jack will do anything to save his mate including getting banished from his pack. I'm glad that Jack and Tori got to tell their story.

No Sex Required
Written by Amazon Customer on 4th May 2015

Right off the bat you know it's going to be the end of the book before you get any sex. She's 16 and he's 18/19. In addition to that, for her safety he knows he can't act on the attraction he feels for her. To summarize - Tori is the runt of the litter. That she made it this long is a miracle. An unfortunate accident out her life in danger and her parents sent her from the pack. Three years later she is back and 16, two years away from the shift that could end her life. Seconds in her presence he realizes she is his mate. In order to help her get stronger so she can survive the shift he begins to train her. She thinks he is doing it because he's a beta-in-training. He can't let her know the truth or it will distract her.! So while there is no sex to speak of until the end of the book it is still a fantastic book. That is due to the characters and the emotion the draw out in you. There is an author out there who writes in a series that is in the BDSM genre. Her books are pricey, very long, and don't come out but once a year. Maybe twice finished writes a novella. She has made comments suggesting that authors who write shorter books are not real writers. Recently she publicly blasted a fan who gave her latest book a 1 Star rating (which I did too) for (among other things) writing a BDSM book with little to no BDSM in it. Or sex, for that matter. She said in essence that the fan obviously only liked short books with lots of sex, alluding to not only a poor character but small brain. Shame on her - first of all. This book shows you can write a short book (compared to her 11200 location count book) with very little sex and still get a 5 Star rating.

Again another great story. This one a little more tough than the first. Jack was more than up to the task. Tori fought just as hard if not harder. Looking forward to the next story!!!!

Love Jack and Tori!
Written by Rhonda on 1st May 2015

I"ve been waiting for Jack's story and it was worth the wait. I love the fact that it was over the course of several years and that they actually waited until they were married before having sex. What a refreshing change, just like Marshall and Scarlett.
