Hard-headed and straight-laced Dr. Stone Lassiter is a heart surgeon about to lose everything he’s worked his entire career for. He is locked in a battle of wills against the nurses of the surgical intensive care unit of Deerborne County General.
At first, the new doctor was definitely drool-worthy. Sexy or not, the nurses have had enough! Their secret weapon? Unsuspecting SICU nurse, Faith Daniels, a cool green-eyed blonde who turns Dr. Lassiter’s head every time she’s near.
Will the nurses’ plan to have Dr. Lassiter fall in love with one of their own work in softening him toward the nursing staff? Or will the little white lie Stone tells Faith destroy the fragile bond of love that has developed between them?
Faith moaned and woke to the constant chiming of her doorbell and pounding on the front door. The wonderful, erotic dream of Stone painting her with melted chocolate burst.
She lifted her head and glanced at her clock. 7:00a.m. Groaning, she pulled the covers over her head and rolled onto her stomach, trying to recapture her fantasy. Maybe whoever it was would go away if she ignored them.
Ding-dong… Ding-dong… Ding-dong…
“Oh, give it a rest already!” she yelled, climbing out of bed. The cool morning air hit her bare legs and arms, and she shivered.
She reached the front door and yanked it open.
Stone Lassiter stood on her step, hand in air, ready to pound the unrelenting wood again.
Staring, her fogged brain tried to wake up. Hadn’t he just been in her room?
No, that wasn’t real you nit-wit!
“You! What’s the big idea? Do you realize how early it is? It’s my day off!”
Not to mention, I was in the middle of the best dream of my life.

Dr. Stone Lassiter is a great heart surgeon who has come to Deerborne General. He wants to make his practice there. He has issues with being nice to staff such as the nurses. They all hate to work with him and complain about him when they do. He is very curt and to the point and makes everyone feel like they can't please him. He wants to expand and add a transplant unit at the hospital and the foundation chair tells him he needs to interact and be seen dating a nurse. He never comes to any of the hospital functions. Stone bribes Faith. He will help her study for MCATs if she be his date the charity ball.
Faith is a lovely woman who wants to be a Dr. She does have some baggage, a divorce and personal hurts. Can they both overcome their insecurities and become one package? Can Faith pass the MCAT and become a doctor?
This is a great story about trust, love and telling the truth. I look forward to many more books like this. I can really relate to the medical usage, being a nurse. Readers will enjoy getting swept into this tale as the characters are intriguing. You want them both to overcome their problems and find a future together.

This is the second story I’ve read by Ms. Grieve, and I wasn’t disappointed. Once more the descriptions of the medical settings and situations were done quite well. Faith and Stone, the heroine and hero of the story, were a nice complement to each other. Their quick wits and the banter between them was a joy to read. If you’re looking for a fun contemporary, comedic romance story, then this story is a great choice. Don’t pass it up!
