The editor is always right... Katia Lane, a down on her luck writer, finds this out the hard way. When she submits an erotic tale to Daring Desires Publishing, one head strong woman meets another as an author/editor war ensues. There's no room for a diva in the publishing industry...and Sylvia L. Avers means to demonstrate this to the fledging writer. When you submit a manuscript to Daring Desires, you submit more than a book...you submit yourself.

As a BDSM conference nears, both women prepare to face off. Which one is going to be on top?

Excerpt:

Sylvia chuckled as she ran her fingers down the front of the other woman’s dress. The fabric whispered under her fingertips, reminding her of Katia’s skin. She slid her hand to the side, pausing over a breast, before tracing a finger in a circle over where she bet Kat’s nipple was. “Do you want to be spanked?” She allowed her tone to take on the husky sound that often went hand in hand with her state of horniness.

“I...” Katia licked her lips and shifted, obviously experiencing conflicting emotions. “I’m still not sure about spanking. It felt good but...”

“Shhh.” Sylvia placed a finger on the lush, pink lips that she wanted so badly to bruise with kisses. “I know what you need, Kitty Kat. I’ll make you purr.”

She took Katia’s hand and led her to the bed. The structure was large and sat high enough to give her exactly the angle she needed. With coaxing pressure, she bent Katia over the edge of the bed. Sylvia loved the way Kat’s dress flirted with the bottom of her round, firm ass. It brushed the tops of the back of her thighs like a black butterfly testing cream-colored roses.

Without warning, she laid her palm across Katia’s rear in a gentle smack. The woman emitted a soft gasp of surprise, but didn’t struggle. Pleased, Sylvia did it again and again, making each smack a little harder than the last. A part of her wished she’d brought her paddle, but another part enjoyed the silk against her palm. The way it slid higher and higher.

When she had Katia panting, Sylvia slid her hand between the sub’s thighs and inserted a finger into her pussy. “Oh my, Kitty Kat, you are a spigot down there. I’ve never met anyone who could turn the water works on like this.”

Katia’s body tensed, and Sylvia laughed as she used her free hand to slap one of the now exposed ass cheeks. The skin was a nice shade of pink that spoke of force without the risk of bruising. It made Sylvia’s own pussy wet to see how well she’d worked the BDSM virgin over. The mewls of pleasure that Katia gave with each thrust of Sylvia’s finger did nothing to stave off that desire.

“M-mistress!”

“Yes, my little bestseller?” Sylvia pushed her finger deep and held still, awaiting Katia’s next words.

“I think I understand now,” Katia said with a whimper. “I understand it isn’t about pain, but about the trust to take each other past certain boundaries.”

Sylvia shook her head. “Oh no,” she said as she inserted a second finger. “You don’t understand quite yet.”

With those words, she began pumping Katia harder. She allowed her other hand to wander to her waist, down her band, and under her panties. When she slid her finger inside of her, it was like an earthquake shook her entire body. As if sensing her orgasm, Katia screamed out as well, her pussy clenching Sylvia’s fingers.

As they stood there, panting, Sylvia removed her hand from Katia’s sopping pussy. She went to the bathroom, washed her hands off, then filled a cup with cold water. Katia sat on the edge of the bed when she walked back, looking shaken and uncertain. Sylvia handed her the water.

After Katia took a few sips, she closed her eyes. “Thank you,” she whispered.

“Now,” Sylvia said as she caressed Kat’s cheek, “you understand.”

The Long and Short of it Erotic Romance Review
Written by undefined on 26th Sep 2012

Give me an erotic romance with characters that leap off the page and have me snorting into my coffee and you have made me a reader that will not stop flicking the pages until the last scorch marks are cooled on my e-reader. A story about a struggling author trying to change her genre from pirate romances into erotica should sound boring, right? Sure, it could but not in this book. From the first sentence, I wanted to know why Katia was slinging her coffee cup in frustration and cursing like a sailor. Her daily grind of balancing her waitress job and passion for writing really hit home for me. As a writer, I understood her irritation when her romance editor told her the newest book she had slaved over was crap. Can you say furious and heartbroken? Oh yes. You feel everything that Kat feels as she experiences it and I love books like that. Her awkward foray into the world of BDSM authorship is a bumpy journey that was joy to read about. The second main character in the book is Sylvia, the editor at the erotica house that Katia submits her new BDSM story to. Little does Katia know, she will be submitting to more than just a copy edit. Sylvia is a force of nature with a dominant streak a mile wide. Right away, fiery emails banter back and forth between the two women. There were moments when I burst into abject laughter at the battle going on between author and editor as Katia’s education into the world of BDSM takes off in directions I just don’t see coming. The steam heats up as the tension between the two women mounts and flairs into an all-out fire storm. These two ladies are matched for a battle of the wills that will have you thinking about it for days after you finish reading the last page. The plot development in this story was spot on. It was not predictable and each chapter was separated by character, so no issues of head hopping arose. The sex scenes were scorching and left me wanting this book to last for way more than fifty seven pages. The thing I enjoyed the most was the acerbic wit and the all-out real reactions from the characters. This was a one sit read that actually had me going right back to the beginning to start reading it again, I loved it so much. Authors Hightower and Kreiger have done an outstanding job of creating a character dynamic with a flair that really stood out as one of the best books I have read lately. If you want an original story with a BDSM theme that will have you laughing out loud while simultaneously reaching for a pitcher of ice water, then The Submission is the book for you.

The TBR Pile Reviews

Immediately, I fell for the character. I loved, absolutely loved the beginning of this book. Katia was an instant hit, she sounded familiar, like a friend. The story tugged me in as Katia received bad news from her publisher. Pirates were out as a popular subject. Now, she needed a new book idea and after quick research came up with a brilliant solution – lesbian romance. Sylvia works for the publishing company and is sick of the same story coming her way. That is until these two women meet and fireworks ensue. It was somewhat rushed and the surrounding details lacked. Overall, it was a rather entertaining read and seriously smoking hot! Katia had such great one-liners and I really enjoyed the interaction between all the characters. The BDSM was a great touch and really had the pages go up in flames. The only reason it didn’t get five shiny stars is the lack of details. I would definitely recommend The Submission. It had such great elements. This was a hit and I can’t wait to read more from both authors!

Hearts on Fire Review
Written by undefined on 26th Jul 2012

Very interesting concept. I had one major quibble with it, which I will get to, but it was so unique (if you suspend belief that this will happen!). Poor Katia – she is a “best-selling author”, which really means she was published at a Halifax House, who no longer wants to carry her due to poor sales. She does some internet research and finds that erotica is a niche market, ripe for the picking. Okay, F/F BDSM, here she comes. Whoops, the problem is, Katia has never even kissed a girl (because that time in tech school doesn’t count). A coworker offers to teach her but Katia isn’t feeling it. The editor at Daring Desires, Sylvia Avers, is going to take a chance on Katia, but teach her who’s boss. I did smile that the authors worked Goodreads in there (Katia checking her reviews!). I laughed out loud at poor Katia’s masturbation scene ending (so could see it happening). There is a lot of humiliation talk during Sylvia’s speech at Living the Style conference (and you do need to remember it is a BDSM conference, NOT a writer’s conference, even though at times it seems to see saw). My quibble was at one point a safe word is used, and Sylvia says “denied”, then informs her that she can deny, she is the domme. Okay, she but then claims that it is about trust, which must take time. Being told your safe word isn’t really safe (i.e., can be ignored) isn’t the way to build trust, in my opinion. That was my biggest quibble with the story. Otherwise, it’s a quick, light read that sees Katia the waitress turn into Katia the author, and the parallels between editor and author and Domme and sub were so clever. There is a m/f spanking scene early on, but no sex. Cute, even though that seems an odd word for a BDSM tale!

Melissa Lockhart Review

A terrific read. So full of steamy moments. Out of the two leads, I absolutely find Sylvia more fascinating. The way t was written was unique. I'm slowly getting used to f/f story and I love this to pieces. a BDSM conference, two sexy woman, one overly cocky Katia. All in all, this was a read that had me literally hooked for all the right, and some wring, reasons. A well deserved, and very sexy,5/5.
