The Transfigured Ones, 1

When Lilly Ferguson narrowly avoids being mugged after work, she's shocked to find that she's gotten the attention of Talan McKenna. He's the sinfully handsome owner of the Foxwood Casino and Spa where she works. There's only one problem, though...

Talan is one of the Transfigured. Like half a million others across the globe, he possesses a very specific genetic mutation. It leaves him with the inability to age, an aversion to sunlight, and a thirst for human blood. When he learns of her tragic past, he worries that it's an obstacle he'll never be able to overcome.

Despite her heartbreaking history with the Transfigured, Lilly immediately senses that Talan is different. Where her fears once lay, there's only a sense of peace and comfort. Just as they begin to build a love made to last several lifetimes, a shadowy figure from her past emerges and threatens to destroy everything.

Within ten minutes, she was surrounded by two security officers and a doctor. He gently prodded at the knot on the back of her head, while she held ice against her throbbing cheek. As he started to shine a small flashlight into her eyes, she heard a deep voice in the hallway murmur, “Where’s the girl? Was she seriously hurt?”

When he stepped through the door, she realized it was the owner of the casino. She had seen glimpses of him on occasion, but she’d never actually spoken to him. His eyes swept the room and landed on her.

She blinked in surprise as he knelt down next to the doctor, so he was eye level. His eyes settled on the bag of ice she held against her face. He didn’t speak. The small tic in his cheek was the only reason she could visibly tell that he was upset. Otherwise, his facial expression gave away nothing.

His voice was devoid of any emotion when he spoke. “Miss...”  he paused, prompting her for her name.

Lilly. Lilly Ferguson.”

He nodded and continued, “Miss Ferguson. You’re okay?”

She nodded, and then winced. “I hit my head. He hit me in the face. Otherwise, I’m fine.”

His eyes swept over her, as if he was trying to verify for himself. His eyes took in her bag. The strap had a tear, but for the most part it was still intact.

Lilly followed his line of sight and took in the torn bag. “That was a casualty of war, too, I guess,” she said with a smirk.

A slight smile curved his lips as he said, “I’m sorry for your loss. I’m surprised you didn’t just give it to him, though.”

I’m not willing to part with what little I own, Mr. McKenna,” she answered honestly.

He nodded as if he understood.

Lilly stared blankly at him. She had serious difficulty thinking he’d be able to relate to her in any way. He was one of the Transfigured. Rich as Croesus, he owned the casino, and was a huge power player among his kind.

Her thoughts must have been written all over her face because he said, “I’ve had almost five hundred years to become who I am, Little One. I can still remember when I had nothing. When I was nothing. I admire your spirit.”

She swallowed, uncertain.

Will you be okay to drive home?” he asked.

The doctor cut in from the other side of the security office. She hadn’t even realized that he’d moved. He said, “I wouldn’t recommend it, Mr. McKenna. She needs to rest in a dark, quiet room at the very least for the next eight hours. She’s showing signs of a mild concussion.”

Very well,” he said, addressing the doctor. He turned to face her and said, “Someone from the hotel will ensure that you get home safely.”

But,” she asked. “What about my car?”

It can be delivered to you. When do you work next?”

She blinked, trying to fight the fuzziness in her mind, and said, “Tomorrow afternoon.”

He shook his head and said, “We’ll reassign your shifts for the next two days. Take the time off.”

Thank you,” Lilly said. She couldn’t imagine doing much of anything except laying under her blankets, if her head persisted in feeling like this.

Keys,” he prompted.

She picked them up, then she winced as there was dried blood caked on the car key. She gingerly removed it from the ring and said, “Sorry. It may need a rinse. I managed to gouge him a couple of times.”

His eyes widened incredulously for a moment before he reached out and took the key from her. He didn’t seem to have an aversion to the bloody key. It was, she supposed, his meal of choice. A slow smile, a genuine one, pulled across his face. He said, “Yes, Miss Ferguson, I do admire your spirit.”

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review. A whole new twist on vampires! I absolutely loved it. Never a boring moment. Once I started reading I had no desire to stop until I saw The End and even then I was sad it was over.

  2. fantastic vampire book. 5 Star Review

Lilly should hate the transfigured after her history with them, but when her boss, who's also a vampire, asks her out, she accepts. What follows is an amazing love story. I couldn't put it down.

I was kindly gifted a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.

When i got offered the chance to review this book i jumped at the opportunity, i just new i was going to be set for the evening and glued to my chair reading. Michelle Roth has weaved a sexy magical romance and has brought a unique new set of vampires.

When Lilly Ferguson very narrowly avoids being mugged after work, she is shocked to find that she has got the attention of Talan McKenna. He is the sinfully sexy handsome owner of the Foxwood Casino and Spa where she works and has been for a while now. There's but one problem, though...

Talan is one of them the Transfigured.

Just Like half a million others across the globe, he possesses a very specific genetic mutation. It leaves him with the inability to age, and an aversion to sunlight, as well as a thirst for human blood. When he learns that Lilly has a tragic past, he worries that this is an obstacle he will never be able to overcome.

Despite her devastating history with the Transfigured, Lilly has immediately sensed that Talan is different. Where her fears use to lay, there is only a sense of inner peace and true comfort. now Just as they are beginning to build a love that is made to last lifetimes, But a shadowy figure from her past emerges out of the shadows with a menacing laugh ,and threatens to destroy everything that they have and have built together.

Massive kudos to Michelle for thinking outside of the box i have to say how impressed i am this is not your normal bog standard vampire romance this book is unique its set in a time where we and the Transfigured live together side by side in some what of a harmony.

The story is set at a great pace one which is easy to follow and not get lost, i loved the beginning how we meet Lilly, she has so much sass and spunk i found her so rewarding not to be one them women who hide away and be meek and mild because of her past, she is out there earning a living and learning.

Talan swoon he is one sexy man he had me right from the beginning it was as if he was speaking to me and i was Lilly...... well a girl can dream huh, Talan was a fantastic lead character i love how from the moment he meets Lilly he senses there is something more something he wants from her and not just a night between the sheets, but something he never thought he would find.

I thoroughly enjoyed Talan and Lachlans banter there friendship made me smile you could tell they were the best of friends and had each others back, the first meeting between Lilly and Lachlan what a hoot look out for it, i had a huge grin on my face and chuckled like mad.

As a couple Talan and Lilly are brilliant they mesh so well together there chemistry was sublime i adore the build up with there romance.

My Favourite excerpt from the book just shows you the depth of emotion Michelle can bring to life between her characters.

" he waited until her eyes met his before he said, But I know you feel it too."

" Talan had been her rock. Her North star.

if you like sexy Vampires you have scored with this book not only will you be getting that but you will enter a whole new world of uniqueness.

Michelle please tell me Lachlan will get his own book because this reviewer is lusting after his gorgeous self.....

Lilly Ferguson and Talan McKenna begin to build a love made to last several last times but a shadowy figure from Lilly’s past emerges and threatens to destroy everything in this delightful vampire romance.

Lilly has a heartbreaking history with the Transfigured and Talan worries that it’s an obstacle he’ll never be able to overcome and the reader’s heart can’t help but be captured as these two conquer the past. The majority of this story is a delightful and passionate romance that has happily ever after vibes that flow from every page with red hot chemistry and steamy sex scenes. The characters are strong and certainly compel the readers to enjoy their story and I have to say that Lilly is one feisty firecracker which is just what Talan needs and the fast paced smooth flowing plot delights readers with lots of suspense and romance.

Overlooking her past and taking a chance with Talan took lots of courage but then that past comes back with a vengeance and threatens Lilly and Talan’s happiness which causes quite a bit of adrenaline pumping excitement and emotional distress. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and the sexy vampires have heart beats increasing and pulses pounding in this exciting new series. I was completely caught up in Lilly and Talan’s story although I do wish it had been longer and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I wanted to read this book because author Michelle Roth and me share an opinion. This being that real VAMPIRES don’t sparkle.

Lilly Ferguson has had tragedy plague her life since she was a young girl after her family is murdered by rouge transfigured. When an attempted mugging outside her place of work happens she makes sure she fights her way out. She won’t let this man take what she’s worked hard for.

When Talan McKenna finds out what happened outside of his casino, He is concerned like any other business owner would be. He never gets involved with his employees but when he meets Lilly he is intrigued. Lilly lives in a world where everyone knows about vampires. What she didn’t realize is the adventure she would go on when she met Talan McKenna.

Talan is sexy and definitely knows his way around woman but Lilly is very different from any woman he’s ever met. Lilly is just as intrigued with Talan and can’t help but fall for him after their first date. He makes her feel alive in more ways than one and has helped her come out of shell.

They are open with each other and have great communication for the short time they’ve been together.

I don’t want to give you spoilers that will ruin the story for you, because you should read it, but I will tell you what made me happy.

When Talan tries to help Lilly with a job she is upset and explains to him why she can’t take it. His response to her is what made me love this book. He understood her need to prove herself and be independent. In most alpha based books I’ve read the woman tends to forget about her life because she finally has her HEA. By Talan knowing what was important to her, Lilly was able to grow with him a partner not just a lover. Not to worry ladies there is plenty of sex to go around.

I give this book 5 diamond because I enjoyed the hell out of it; my only complaint is that I have to wait a long time till I read the Scotch Snobs book. Trust me when you read this books you will love him too.

  6. Yummy vamp 5 Star Review

I do love a sexy vamp, and they don't come much sexier than Talan, I tell you.

I loved this story. It has it all. Great world building, a drool worthy hero, a strong heroine, great supporting characters, and just the right amount of angst, suspense, and action thrown in. And let's not forget the hot, sexy scenes.

The characters are well developed with sparkling dialogue that made me grin a lot of the times and sniff along with them at the emotional parts.

Even better, it's the start of a series :-)

  7. Really enjoyable read. 5 Star Review

I loved this story‼️ Lilly is going to college during the day and working at the sports bar at night to support herself. Talon is th owner of the casino she works at. This is a wonderful story about learning to love and over come all odds. It is Vegas baby! I highly recommend this book to all lovers of paranormal stories.

  8. The Romance Reviews TRR 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Jul 2015

When Lilly gets mugged as she's leaving the casino where she works, Security take her back inside to visit the on-call doc, and the big boss of the casino comes to make sure she's okay. And so, this chance meeting is the start of something special between our hero and heroine. The story takes us through Lilly's past and how far she's had to come to get exactly where she is today, and Talan's experiences as the Transfigured, a race similar to Vampires, only they're basic genetic mutants. Okay, that doesn't sound sexy at all. Lol. Genetic mutants? But honestly, Talan rocks it! He's hot, he's sexy, and oh, my God, he's soooo sweet! Lilly, regardless of her tragic past experiences with The Transfigured, manages to make a go of it with her new lover, Talan, and through the relationship, becomes a stronger woman for it. The book had strengths and weaknesses, but through it all, Talan's generosity and his gentleness made for such an unusual hero. Accustomed to bad boys and down-and-dirty guys, Talan is a gentleman. A reminder of debonair charm and elegance. Lilly is one lucky lady! - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/viewbooksreview.php?bookid=18155#sthash.J4HK6WEO.dpuf

  9. Oooooh even as tired as I was when I started ... 5 Star Review

Oooooh even as tired as I was when I started reading this I couldn't put it down! I am really interested to see what comes next for the Transfigured ones.

  10. Beautiful! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jun 2015

This is the first I've read of Michelle Roth. I'm now scrambling to get caught up with everything else she's done.

What appealed to me the most about the relationship between Talan and Lilly was the amount of RESPECT they had for one another. Lilly took the time and effort to understand more about the Transfigured... even with a painful history. And Talan took the time and effort to try to see where SHE was coming from. This made a scorching hot love affair EVEN HOTTER.

These two are going to stick with me for a good long while, they are so beautifully written. I cannot WAIT to see where this series goes!
