Romance on the Go

One thing that annoyed Deputy Sheriff Mitchell Bartlett were outsiders coming into his small corner of Wyoming and upsetting his routine. He didn’t count on a party-loving rock star to complicate his life.

After borrowing a luxury cabin from a fellow celebrity, Drago Denison dragged his partygoers into the wilds of Southwestern Wyoming for a debauched weekend. When Mitchell shows up at his door due to a complaint about the noise, Drago is stunned by the enticing vision of rugged, handsome male standing before him.

The men are attracted to each other, and they agree to one weekend of passion before returning to their own lives. How can two men from different lifestyles find common ground and accept how they feel? Or will the deputy and the rock star deny true love?

Be Warned: m/m sex

Excerpt:

Drago turned to face Mitchell, who stood, legs apart, his hands formed into fists, clenching and unclenching in irritation. He looked angry, horny, and confused. An ass kicking could still be a real possibility here. Nothing straight guys hated worse than having a reaction to another man. Freaked them the fuck out. Drago always believed everyone was bi-sexual deep down, they just didn’t know it, or refused to accept it. He embraced his sexuality at an early age. Women, men, multiple partners. He liked women and men about the same, though at this moment, he was firmly on Team Mitchell.

“Is this the part where you stomp the shit out of me to prove you’re a man, and to prove your reaction to me was just an anomaly?”

The right corner of Mitchell’s sexy mouth quirked in amusement. It didn’t last, the tense look returned.

“Is that what happens next?”

Drago clasped his hands behind his back to keep them from shaking. Not sure if fear or lust had them trembling. Maybe both.

“Usually. I have a fine-tuned radar when it comes to vibes, and I got them from you, or I never would have suggested anything. Do you deny the sparks between us? Would that make you feel better? Here’s your opportunity to walk away. Chalk it up to the degenerate rock star who possesses the morals of an alley cat, and let it go. Go back to your staid life and forget this. I already have enough of a mess to clean up here, adding blood and teeth to the equation doesn’t appeal.”

Mitchell took a couple of steps toward the door then stopped. Head down, he seemed to be struggling with what to do next.

“Or you can spend the weekend here, with me,” Drago said, keeping his voice gentle and coaxing. “There is enough food here to feed twenty people, but as you see, they’re gone. I kicked them the hell out. Take some time, think about it. Come back for supper. I can cook.”

Mitchell didn’t speak nor move.

“Have you ever been with a man?” Drago asked, his voice quiet and respectful.

Silence.

“I’ll take that silence as a yes. I’m guessing it happened when you were young, experimenting, it happens, and more than you know. I can show you such pleasure. There’s nothing wrong in what you’re feeling. Take some time to think about it. You decide. Supper is at six. If you don’t show up, I’ll have my answer.”

Mitchell opened the door, walked out and slammed it behind him.

Drago snorted. So much for that.

a hot and sexy short story.

: The Deputy and the Rock Star by Karly Germain is not part of a series by the author but it is in a series called Romance on the Go by the publisher, Evernight. This series Romance on the Go is a series of short stories that are good to read where every you go. I chose this book because I have not read this author before. Mitchell Bartlett is a Deputy Sheriff is a small Wyoming town. He is called out to a loud noise complaint and meets Rock Star Drago Denison. The chemistry between both Mitchell and Drago at first sight is blistering. They are a good match. Mitchell makes Drago want to be a better person and settle down, while Drago makes Mitchell more comfortable in his own skin. The sex scenes were off the charts. This book was well written and it was hard to tell this book was only 41 pages long. It had well defined beginning, middle and end. The characters were interesting but not realistic at time. (Sorry I don’t believe that a gay man can live in a town and be sheriff and no one has a clue. People talk in small towns.) Overall this was a hot and sexy short story.

Mitchell Bartlett is a Deputy Sheriff in a small town located in Southwestern Wyoming. He didn’t expect to feel anything sexual for the rock star, when he knocked on his door, to tell him to turn the music down. Drago was attracted to the Deputy Sheriff the moment he saw the billboards around town with his picture on it. When he opened his door to see him, he’s surprised and can’t help but flirt with him a bit. Mitch can’t get Drago off his mind. He stops by the next day and Drago recommends they spend the weekend together. Mitch takes him up on it and the chemistry they have is great. The sex scenes are some of the best M/M sex scenes I’ve read. This was a short sweet read, that I would recommend friends.

Karly Germain’s debut story, “The Deputy and the Rock Star” is a quick little number featuring love between a straightlaced mostly straight deputy and a free loving, tattooed, bisexual rock star. Though this story is part of Evernight Publishing, Romance on the Go series, it packed an slightly above average punch. Therefore instalove should be expected. Somehow, this instalove was palatable. Believable? *gives the side-eye* For the context of the story, I’ll point to yes. I would read more from this author. For the length of the story, it wasn’t bad and gave a satisfying HEA ending. Mitchell has only had one gay experience in his teens and is now almost forty, so his internal struggles for the mutual attraction he and Drago share was plausible. And Drago was a rocker without trying too hard, which what I usually look for when reading romances featuring musicians as main characters. Mitchell and Drago, when heating up the sheets, left me wanting more. Those two were about 7-7.5 out of 10 in the hotness factor. There were brief bouts of MANTEARS. The ending, while a HEA, I was surprised with Mitchell’s reaction and I wished this ‘out-for-you’ story was longer. It had enough legs to make for a steamy little novella. Fun little sexy nugget with an opposite attracts feel. I’d check this author’s work out again in the future.
