Product Description

A woman who lost everything she ever loved...

Poppy Matthews lost her husband and unborn baby in a car accident. Even years after his death she still moves through life without meaning, that is until her husband's older brother offers her a safe haven. Deciding to move to Blithe, Alaska, Poppy finds love again in the most unlikely place.

He loves her even though she is his brother's wife...

Blake Ellis has lived an isolated life since his brother Jon died two years prior. When Poppy, his younger brother's widow comes to live with him, Blake knows his feelings for her are far from innocent. Both of them have suffered a heartache that has yet to heal, but they find comfort and love again in each other's arms. But not everyone thinks the two should be together, and they will go to great lengths to make sure they know it.

His warm breath teased the skin of her belly, and she took in a stuttering breath. The first touch of his lips on her scar had her mouth parting and her pulse racing. Over and over he kissed and ran his tongue along the proof of everything she tried to forget. The tears she tried so hard to keep at bay spilled forth until great, wracking sobs left her. Poppy covered her face with her hands and cried as Blake continued to lave attention to the part of her body she had always felt discomfiture over.

“You’re beautiful, love.” Blake whispered. “You’re the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” His hands took over where his lips had just been. He caressed her in a gentle sweep of his fingers, so soft and smooth that goose-bumps formed along her skin. “Every part of you is beautiful.” His hands moved up, and up, until they stopped right below her bra. “Look at me.” Poppy let her hands fall away and looked at Blake, who was now mere inches from her face. “I want you to tell me you’re beautiful.” He leaned in the rest of the space and kissed her long and slow. When he broke the kiss he stayed only inches away again. “Tell me, love.”

Poppy licked her lips, the words getting lodged in her throat. His eyes urged her to continue, to find the strength deep inside of her. When was the last time she felt beautiful? When Jon told me right before he died. Now was not the time for this, not when Blake opened up her heart again. Not when she felt something. Finding the courage deep inside her soul, Poppy grabbed for it and didn’t let go.

“I’m beautiful.” The words were barely a whisper from her, but Blake heard her nonetheless and brushed his lips across hers in response.

“Yes, yes you are, love.” He took her mouth again, and she became lost in the sensations of lips, tongues, and hands. It felt like they kissed for hours, or maybe it was just minutes, but it felt glorious regardless. Mouth swollen from the blood that rushed below the surface, cheeks scrapped from the erotic scrape of his stubble along her skin, and pussy so wet the lining of her panties was unbearably soaked, Poppy drifted away in the hazy fog of aroused delight.

With quick movements and expert hands, Blake had her shirt off and her bra undone and tossed aside. She had only ever been naked in front of one person, had only ever given herself to one man, but the way Blake looked down at her, with not just desire but love and understanding, had the wall she had built around her heart after Jon died fading away. She lifted her arms and ran the pads of her fingers across his bare chest. His body lightly shook beneath her hands, and she knew he was just as affected by this encounter.

“I want you, Blake.” Poppy dropped her hands and gripped the edge of her pajama bottoms. She lifted her hips and dragged them down her legs and off when Blake moved aside. He looked almost stunned, or unsure of her actions, but he didn’t stop her. So she reached for the drawstring of his lounge pants. “Tell me this is right, that you want this, too.” Hands on the strings but not making a move to loosen it, Poppy stared into his eyes. Everything around her stilled as she waited to hear his answer. It was strange how the roles had been reversed. It now seemed Blake was unsure of what was transpiring. He closed his eyes, and his jaw clenched as he dealt with his internal battle. Poppy went to drop her hands, but Blake anticipated her move and placed his hands atop hers, stilling her movements.

“I want this, so much, Poppy.” He removed her hands and stood. For a moment she thought he meant to leave her in his too big room, alone and naked, but then he pushed his pants down and crawled back on the bed over her. His big body rested atop hers, pressing her into the mattress and sending a lovely, heavy sensation coursing through her. “I want you so much, Poppy.” Warm, hard male flesh molded into hers, making the sweet anticipation of release just a reach away.

Blake’s narrow hips fit perfectly in the cradle her hers, and the hard, impossibly thick length of him parted her labia. She was wet, unbelievably so, and his shaft moved against the slickness on its own accord. A guttural groan left him, and he dropped his head to her shoulder at the same time his hips jerked and his cock slid against her again.

“You feel so good, Poppy.” He curled his fingers around her upper arms and pressed his hips into hers again. Over and over he did this, his length sliding up and down as he rocked against her. The base of his erection bumped her clit on every upstroke, and Poppy had to bit her lip or she would have screamed for him to move harder, faster.  “I’ve wanted you for so long, ever since our relationship changed during those conversations all those years ago.” Another bump to her clit and she squeezed her eyes shut. So, so close to feeling that explosion she longed for.

“Yes, Blake. Please,” she whispered into his hair. He was so big, so muscular, and so very male that Poppy felt wholly feminine beneath him. She begged him for his words, for his touch, for his emotions. She wanted that from him, wanted him to break down his wall like she had.

  1. Romancing the Book Reviews 4 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Feb 2014

The Edge of Forever by Jenika Snow is a wonderful novel. Ms. Snow packed a lot of story into this short novel. I chose this book to review because it peaked my interest after reading the summery.

Poppy always knew whom she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with until one day when he was taken suddenly from her along with her unborn child. Poppy is coping with life after the accident and not really living it until she moves across the country to Alaska to start over. I found it a brave and adventurous thing to do.

Blake is grieving for the loss of his brother. He wants to help Poppy deal with her grief even though he had a crush on her for years. Blake is a hot and sexy man who has not made the best decisions regarding women and with limited number of women in town it’s even harder.

The chemistry between Blake and Poppy is blistering hot. The sex scenes were hot and spicy. I found enjoyable to watch them fight there attraction before falling in bed with each other rather than fight it after they sleep together.

Overall, this author did a wonderful job of telling this story even though I found it hard to believe that long term a relationship with the brother in law of her dead husband will work. I have enjoyed every story that I have read by Ms. Snow and I am on the lookout for the next book by her.

  2. The Romance Studio 4 Star Review

Poppy Matthews has been struggling to move forward with her life ever since losing her husband. But when an offer to move to the small town of Blithe, Alaska is made to her, Poppy sees that it might be her only chance to finally get over her loss.

Blake Ellis has always been ashamed by the fact he was in love with his brother’s wife, but now after two years of suffering the loss of his brother, he finally offers Poppy a solution to her problem of not being able to move forward with her life when he asks her to come and live with him for a while.

This is a heartfelt tale of love and loss with a plot that was very interesting from the start where it started with Poppy and how her relationship with her husband came about and then her moving to live with her brother-in-law. The dialogue was good and I enjoyed the growing relationship between Blake and Poppy since they both needed the other to help them move forward after suffering the loss of someone they both loved very much. The sex scenes were hot and definitely illustrated how much these two needed the other. What I liked so much about Poppy was her willingness to lean on Blake for help. While with Blake, I liked that he didn’t pressure Poppy into furthering their friendship until she was ready, even though he’d been in love with her for a while.

Overall, Ms. Snow has done a good job penning this novel and I can’t wait to read more of this author’s work in the future because I’ve always enjoyed tales of love and loss and how it’s possible for the hero and heroine to a get a second chance at love.

  3. Night Owl Reviews 4 Star Review

An idyllic childhood that led to marrying her "forever" sweetheart ends in disaster for Poppy. What appeared to be a charmed life ended tragically and we have a front row seat to her recovery. As she makes a life-altering decision to leave her hometown, she's also making a decision to move on from her grief. As it should be.
Blake helped Poppy via phone work through her pain, but she helped him too. When his feelings of brotherly love change he can't really say, and now he has Poppy living under his roof, working in his office, and in every aspect of his life. How does he let her know his feelings have changed, and can they both live with the fallout of surrendering to the growing emotions between them?
Back in the dark ages it was considered a sin to marry your brother's widow; there were even laws against it. Who knows, the law may still exist on some books somewhere even as we speak. I guess that is where the shame comes from in this story. Both Blake and Poppy are educated people, who know right from wrong. What they are worried about doesn't really exist, other than in their own minds. They also spend a lot of time worrying over what the family will think, but again, whose life is this? This was a story with passion and eroticism, a lot of guilt and second-guessing, and a mystery antagonist who wants to keep Blake and Poppy apart.

  4. Another Winner from Jenika Snow 5 Star Review

Jenika writes contemporary romances wonderfully. I loved Poppy's story. Blake paid a very important roll in the Poppy's life but so did Jon. So I felt the book was more her story then Blake's. This book had more anguish in it then Jenika's other books and I liked it, alot. :)
