Two people, two cultures, two planets—and a love frowned upon by both sides.

Halinah is from a grand family, a rich one credited with many discoveries. Yajiv is attractive, down from the moon for his studies and poised to head home when the two meet at an event that neither care to be at. The attraction is instant. Halinah uses her family name to score a position in the family company at one of its centers on the moon to be closer to Yajiv. While there, their relationship blossoms as Yajiv teaches her about his world and his people, but when a rebellion ensues, Halinah is in danger and only Yajiv can keep her safe.

Excerpt:

He slowly brushed a few strands of hair from my face as our eyes locked. “You don’t have to say anything.” His hand lingered around my cheek. I placed my hand on his, holding his palm flat against my cheek. It was soft and shaking. We lay in silence, his hand pressed against my face, and stared deeply into each other’s eyes. At that moment we were utterly connected. It was like the world around us had stopped and we had become the center of the universe and all that is true and good. And then he kissed me. His lips were soft and gentle, but powerful. My arm pressed against his chest, and I could feel his heart pounding. The taste of his lips on mine sent my body into a frenzy of desire.

Yajiv pulled back ever so slowly, his lips gently departing mine, and he looked to my eyes. I ran my fingers through his hair as he leaned in and kissed me again, this time more passionately, and slid his tongue into my mouth. I reciprocated and held his head in my hand. One kiss grew to two, three, four, and more. Our bodies moved until we were flush against each other, and eventually Yajiv was on top of me. His hard cock pressed against my body, and I grew wet. My body wanted him just as much as my mind and heart did. Instinctively, we undressed, our nude bodies pressed together, grinding as we kissed and caressed.

Yajiv’s hands roamed over my body, stopping only to squeeze my breasts as he kissed his way down my neck to my chest. While one of his hands fondled one of my hard nipples, his tongue swirled around the other. I spread my legs slightly, and he worked his legs between them, spreading them even wider as he continued to suckle at my breast. I ran my hands through his hair and down his neck to his powerful shoulders. His physique screamed perfection. His body was fit and firm. The only flaw I found was a tiny but defined scar that ran down his side for an inch. I could only imagine what it was from because I couldn’t bring myself to ask.

Halinah is the granddaughter of the famous man that discovered a civilization on the moon. (Very cool!) But she hates how her people have exploited and subjugated the natives. To avoid marriage she takes a job on the moon. Her and the native Yajiv hit it off right away. They start a sweet relationship that’s soon invaded by her jilted fiancé who still insists their getting married and a struggle for equality on the moon. I really liked this book. Halinah was adorable and sweet. I really liked how she wasn’t snobby like the rest of her family. Yajiv was kind and quiet. He felt awkward and less of a man with most of her kind but together they found the balance between their species. The world the author created was unique. That story in the beginning about her grandfather was beautiful! I wish there had been more exploration and details. Which lead to my only real complaint, the story was rushed. I think a longer story would have really bumped this up to 5 stars. As is, the book is a solid, fantastic 4 stars. A few editing issues but nothing major (me instead of be, ate instead of at, ect). The World Above is a fantastic introduction to a new author I’ll be keeping an eye out for. I highly recommend you give The World Above a read!
