I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of yet another fabulous story by Jen. I have come to expect stories filled with emotional depth and scorching eroticism and I wasn't disappointed. Being touched brings only physical pain for Mia and a belief she will never enjoy the touch of a man. But on the recommendation of a mysterious woman she's willing to see if renowned Dom, Alexei, can turn her pain into pleasure. After all, that's his business. But is a woman who needs it gentle someone he can even relate to? Find out, and bring your fan (or our favourite toy!).
Naughty Fairy Tales
Mia doesn’t believe in happily-ever-after. She’s spent her whole life fighting the pain of overly-sensitive skin and has never known the joy of being touched in a way that brings pleasure instead of pain. When a mysterious woman suggests her son might be the key to breaking Mia’s curse, it sounds far too crazy to be real—especially when she finds out he’s a renowned Dom in an exclusive, members-only club. But Mia is desperate enough to try anything…
Alexei knows there’s no such thing as happily-ever-after. He’s a child of the streets, rescued by a brothel queen, and the last thing he needs is another suburban princess getting in his way. Bondage is his lifestyle choice. Pain is his business. He wouldn’t know what to do with a woman who likes it subtle. What is his adoptive mother thinking, to bring an innocent like Mia into the dark heart of their infamous Club Plaisir?
Be Warned: BDSM, voyeurism, sex toys
What is it with these suburban princesses, constantly making their way into the city at night looking for danger and excitement? On their terms, of course. Always high maintenance, usually low self-esteem, and not the faintest inkling of what a man like me might find attractive. They’re here just long enough to appease their curiosity, and then they’re home again, tucked up safe in their cozy beds where the big bad wolves of this world can’t get them. Wolves like me. Princes of Pleasure. Kings of Pain.
The latest two hovering near the door don’t look old enough to be out this late, but I know they must be over twenty-one. Club Plaisir is members-only, and definitely adults-only, and applications are thoroughly scrutinized. The nature of what goes on here means we have to be discreet, and all of my staff have a knack for spotting fake IDs and unsuitable applicants. No one underage. Ever. No exceptions. That’s my number one rule.
Despite the fact that both newcomers have clearly been caught unawares by this evening’s heavy spring downpour outside, the dark-haired one on the left has a confident set to her shoulders as she stares around the room at the half-naked clientele. She shakes out her wet hair and sprays rain droplets over everyone in the vicinity, though no one seems to notice in the sweat and heat of the club. She’s definitely been here before, or somewhere similar. She has the demeanor of someone who can look out for herself.
By comparison, the slightly-built blonde by her side looks like a startled deer in the headlights. A wet, bedraggled deer who seems as if she’d be more at home in a sun-drenched field of flowers than a dark, inner-city sex club pulsing with music and undulating bodies. She’s definitely never been here before. I’d remember. There’s something about her—an air of fragility, perhaps—that piques my interest, and even though she’s the exact opposite of what I look for in a woman, my cock twitches in a visceral response to her innocence.
I need my women hard and experienced. I need them to like it rough. I’m an expert at providing my partners with equal parts pleasure and pain.
I wouldn’t even know where to start with a woman who likes it subtle.
TOUCH ME NOT is the first instalment in Jen Katemi’s (aka Jennifer Lynne) contemporary, adult NAUGHTY FAIRY TALES erotic, romance series retelling some of our favorite childhood stories. This is Mia and Alexei’s story line. Told from dual first person perspectives (Mia and Alexei) TOUCH ME NOT follows the quick building relationship between twenty-five year old Mia, and thirty-five year old Dom Alexei. Mia has an aversion to touch; not quite an aversion but touch of any sort causes her excruciating pain, and our heroine is determined to find someone, anyone who has the ability to take her beyond the physical limits of painful touch into the pleasure of sexual arousal. Enter Dom Alexei, the co-owner of the adults only, sex club Club Plaisir. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Alexei and Mia as Alexei’s touch is the magic needed to pull Mia down from her pain filled existence. TOUCH ME NOT is an energetic read; an erotic story line focusing on the pleasure of touch- a reverse BDSM scenario (of sorts) in that our hero Alexei does not want to inflict pain but hopes to illicit the comfort and contentment of the pleasures of touch for the young woman that quickly calls to his heart. The author offers up a little bit of background about our story line hero, a man whose earlier life on the streets came to an end when he met Masha, the woman who would raise Alexei as her own. Masha is a bit of a ‘fairy godmother’ in that Masha ‘rescues’ Mia from a life of unimaginable loneliness and pain, offering up a membership and potential happiness through Alexei and Club Plaisir. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the characters are charismatic; the romance spicy and hot-on that note, I do struggle with the use of a certain four-letter word in all romance storylines but TOUCH ME NOT is a story of erotica wherein the word is commonly used throughout the story.
Review by Christine Stokes You can't go wrong with Jen Ketami story which is always filled with passion, hot steamy sex that you couldn't put it down. Her stories are short but oh so sweet. Mia has extremely sensitive skin when touched will emit pain. A stranger she met told her that her son, Alexei can help her. She shows up at a private sex club and found out that Alexei is a Dom who loves bondage. Alexei was also saved by the same stranger. When Ms Ketami puts these two souls together you are in for the hottest ride of your life. I received a free copy of this book from the author and chose to voluntarily leave a review.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This is a wonderful quick read, a fast paced story set over one night. Two wounded souls find each other by a chance meeting. At first sight Mia sets Alexei's soul alight. But he thinks she doesn't belong in his dark world but her lightness brings more than just light into his heart. Well-written story with really wonderful likable characters. Definitely recommend this book.
What a great story. This tale embodies the true importance of communication while being sexy and romantic. It makes you want to fall in love all over again. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Touch Me Not is Jen Katemi’s brand new contemporary romance and it definitely packs a punch. The story is sexy, steamy, but above all it’s a true romance. Both lead characters have a painful past, and psychological barriers to scale before they achieve their final goal. Alexei is the confident, affluent and imposing Dom, who long ago decided that physical intimacy held no appeal in his life. Commanding another’s release by initiating both pleasure and pain, he doesn’t succumb to the lust that enthrals the masses; this is simply a job. Mia is an innocent, compelling and desirable waif, who with one mere look tilts his ordered world on its head. But the prospect of helping this woman with the soulful eyes learn to tolerate his touch has Alexei questioning his resolve, and may be his ultimate undoing. Ms Katemi has a knack for writing a riveting story in a short novella, and while insta-love isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, Touch Me Not is a heartfelt, sensual and deeply emotional tale. So if you’re looking for a story you can devour before you pick the kids up from school, or when you just need an afternoon break, this is the one. I hope you love it as much as I did.
