They sat in silence for a moment. Her hands shook, so she held them in her lap. Why he unsettled her was a mystery. She was twenty-six years old. Sitting in a cafe with a hunky man shouldn’t be an ordeal. Then she realized it was not any man but Trent who unsettled her. Maybe his good looks intimidated her. Annoying.
“Nicki?”
She looked up at his face. “Yes?”
He moved his hand across the table, palm up. “Give me your hand.”
“Why?”
“Because I asked you to.”
Her brow rose. “Why’d you ask me to?”
He chuckled. “You’re so cute. Please trust me enough to give me your hand. I won’t do anything. I want to connect with you for a moment.”
She hesitated, then pulled her hand from her lap and placed it in his large palm. A sizzle shot up her arm, and she tried to pull away. He closed his fingers around her hand. She whimpered.
He rotated his hand, bent forward, pulled her knuckles to his lips, and kissed the top.
Her heart thundered beneath her ribcage. “Trent?”
She tugged, and he allowed her hand to slip free. “Why did you do that?”
“I want to get to know you better. We’re neighbors and work in the same field. And we’re both single heterosexuals. I’m attracted to you.”
She couldn’t believe he said all that out loud. “Why?”
“Enough with the questions. Why? Because you’re beautiful, you’re bright, you’re sweet. And if I could risk adding, you’re sexy as hell. That’s why.” He leaned back in his chair and finished his sandwich.
“Wow.” She didn’t know what to say.
“Will you go out to dinner with me?”
This is an emotional story with some suspense, passion and a touch more. The story is about Nicki and Trent. It is an age gap romance between a women with some baggage and a man who sees more in her. When he is determined to break down her walls. This is a good story that sucks you in from the very beginning. I love the characters and their connection.
This was a really expected book. I loved the previous books in this series and wanted to read Nicki story. It was great! I hope now we can have a Holly story because it feels like we left her behind, maybe a marriage crisis or something.
What a ride! This is the first novel I have read by this author and I am so glad I found it! It did not disappoint. From the first chapter this novel pulled me in and held my attention until the end. My heart hurt for Nikki and all she had been thru in her past. I loved that Trent knew what he had found in Nikki and was willing to work to win her over. So good! I look forward to seeing what this author has coming next.
Nicki is the sweetest and littlest of her friends. She’s had her faith shaken in men and tends to be reserved around them. Trent has been interested in Nicki but couldn’t read her well enough to see if the feelings were mutual. It’s a sweet heated tale of finding love and shaking the crazy off before they can get their HEA. This is the last book in the series and I want more from this universe. It’s sweet and steamy
This is the third book I've read written by Joyce Palmer; I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is the third book in the Seduced by Mr. Right Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Nicki & Trent.
This is a good book. Trent was the right man for Nicki. But for me a side character Rachel, the villain stole the book. Rachel wasn't even the other woman, she's the over-the-top unstable person after Trent.
This book is drama packed and it is just a really great read. It does get you in your feelings for sure and I really love the book. In fact hard to put it down for sure.
Trent and Nicki are neighbours, and he overhears a conversation with her friends… and let’s just say that conversation was heading into NSFW territory… This evolved to a very steamy read at times, with suspense and drama. And, although it was fairly easy to predict, the journey was good. A relatively quick read, it was enjoyable.
Nicki was still holding pain and distrust from a teenage incident that left her emotionally scarred. Trent is an older man who sees so much underneath all of her walls and he wants to help her learn to trust in him. As her guard starts to drop her past is coming back to haunt her and Trent becomes a target in his own problems. They have to decide to fight for their future or succumb to the drama and pressure. This is a really good read.
