Campus Crush, 4

Moving into the dorms has never been this awkward … or this sexy!

Finn Jacobs has finally met the perfect guy: studly, slightly older, wise in the ways of love and just the kind of funny, sweet, sexy, potentially gentle but not too gentle dude he’s been waiting for to finally punch his V-card, once and for all. The only problem? He’s his new roommate’s older brother and, as such, VERY off limits. Or … is he?

Jett Carlson has finally met the perfect guy: sexy, sweet, innocent and up for anything! The only trouble? He’s his brother’s new roommate at Cheshire College and, as such, VERY off limits. Or … is he?

With Jett’s brother Casey more interested in setting up his new gaming system back in the dorm room and Finn’s parents nowhere to be found, Jett and Finn share Welcome Weekend together instead. In between pep rallies and meet and greets, Ice Cream Socials and forced fun, the two find it impossible to resist their growing desire for one another. When an innocent gesture turns into a full-on romance, the two discover what it means to finally fall in love. The only question is, can their love survive the taboo desires that drew them together in the first place?

Be Warned: m/m sex

Excerpt:

Finn resisted the urge to nudge hips again. He was already being way too flirty, way too fast. He’d told himself, after last night’s gooey, gushy display on the steps of his dorm, that today he’d slow his roll. Play it cool, even hard to get. But one look at Jett that morning, broad chest kitted out in his clingy giveaway “I’m a Cheshire College Parent” t-shirt, gave lie to the true feelings that had been simmering since they’d met. “If it means more time with you, Jett, then sure.”

Jett nodded almost pensively, square jaw set as they meandered through downtown Cheshire, Georgia, even more quaint and homey by day than it had been the night before. Or, Finn wondered, was he just looking at the tiny college town through rose-colored glasses?

“I’m not sure how many lectures I have in me,” Jett mumbled as they approached a cozy storefront coffee shop called Crullers. “I’ve never been good at the older brother gig, as you can see from your new roomie.”

Finn joined him as they paused outside the café. “I dunno, given what I’ve seen of Casey, he’d probably be a lot worse off without you in the background steering him toward a more, uh … social life?”

Jett chuckled, reaching for the door. “I hear a compliment in there somewhere,” he murmured, rich green eyes giving him pause. “You want your coffee hot or cold?”

“Cold?” Finn offered, not caring if it came in a frozen block so long as it meant another stolen moment with his roommate’s brother.

“Great minds,” Jett murmured. He left Finn on the street, shifting anxiously from foot to foot as he turned to admire the street in the warm light of midmorning. Where the night before the cozy streetlights and exposed bulbs had created an almost magical effect on Sapling Street, today it was even more charming: cobblestone beneath his feet, carefully curated storefronts as far as the eye could see, from used record and book stores to gastropubs, sports bars, and cafes. Toward the end of the street, a banner flapped in the warm fall breeze, promising a Farmers’ Market all weekend long.

Finn’s belly stirred, already sore from fluttering all night long, his mind alive with a million lurid fantasies even as his ears perked up at the sound of the bell over the door ringing with Jett’s sudden departure. “That was fast,” he murmured, taking the tallboy can of iced mocha Jett offered.

“It’s so nice out this morning,” Jett gushed, almost romantically, waving a leafy- green flyer in his free hand as he clutched a matching coffee can in his other. “I didn’t want to waste another moment indoors. Did you see they had a—”

“Farmers’ Market this weekend?” Finn finished for him, nodding coyly at the banner.

Jett’s smile was warm and sudden and heart-stoppingly charming, sending Finn’s already overactive libido into overdrive. “I’ve never been to one,” he admitted.

“No?” Finn mused, following side by side as they drifted closer to the end of Sapling Street, cordoned off to allow for the seemingly miles and miles of booths and kiosks that glittered at the end like the same bulbs they’d walked home beneath the night before. “They had them back home all the time, but nothing quite this fancy.”

“You wanna give it a try?” Jett asked, voice rich and deep and knowing, as if Finn might possibly refuse.

“I mean, it’s no ice cream social with a bunch of over-the-top, squealing sorority girls, but I suppose we could give it a shot.”

Jett nodded, cracking open his can of coffee. Finn watched the spray of carbonated caffeine that covered his long, lean fingertip almost jealously. “You know, Finn, you can bail at anytime. You don’t have to wander around with some old fuddy-duddy just because I asked you to.”

“I know that,” Finn insisted. He was cracking open his own can and feeling the same cold mist of spray that had coated Jett’s long, masculine fingers slather his own. “In case you hadn’t noticed, Jett, I want to be here. Be here with … you.”

Jett chuckled, glancing quietly away. Much as his dorm building had approached far too quickly the night before, the Farmers’ Market loomed, quietly bustling with frenetic energy and the quaint, homey feel of a small-town weekend in the fall.

“What’s so funny?” Finn murmured, taking a rich, deep sip of the heady brew. They’d had Styrofoam cups of cheap coffee during the Welcome Waffles breakfast that morning, but between forced small talk with overly peppy strangers and the constant fear of being called on to stand up and talk about himself, Finn had barely taken two full sips. Suddenly, the much-needed caffeine rushed dangerously to every nerve ending in his needy little body.

“Nothing’s funny, funny,” Jett insisted with a quiet little nod. “I just, I’m trying really hard to be the grownup here, and you’re making that really, really, very much harder.”

Finn pretended to be offended, all the while being flattered. “Me? What’d I do?”

“You haven’t done anything, really,” Jett observed quietly. They milled, almost instinctively, across the street from the Farmers’ Market as if to enter the mildly murmuring crowd might pop whatever bubble they’d been drifting in since leaving campus. “And yet, you’ve done everything all at once.”

A short, sweet and steamy, MM romance
Written by EPM on 4th May 2025

Jett has an instant connection with Finn, who is Jett's younger brother Casey's new college roommate. After helping Casey move in, Jett is at a loose end as Casey just wants to stay in and play video games, so Jett and Finn end up hanging out over the weekend and things move there. Jett and Finn had great chemistry and yet they also developed a super sweet friendship together. But how will things go with their situations, Jett living elsewhere and Finn being at College and rooming with Jett's brother....... While part of the Campus Crush series, it is a standalone.

My roommate's brother
Written by Nicole V on 4th May 2025

Jett is in the process I've seen his little brother Casey off to college. Finn is Casey's roommate. There was a media attraction. And with Casey being slightly socially awkward they decided to go out to dinner together after Casey declined to go. This was a super sweet, short, cheesy and sometimes awkward book. Not awkward in a bad way but awkward in the way of somebody first exploring their sexuality and not knowing what to expect. And although this is about their relationship building I'd be remiss to not mention how touching it was the moment between Casey and Jett when the welcome weekend was over and he was getting ready to leave. The conversation they had was so heartwarming and made me miss my brother.

My Roommates Brother
Written by Love2read1961 on 4th May 2025

Dropping off and setting up his brother's dorm was part of the weekend Jett had planned for his brother, Casey. But Casey just wants to get his gaming system up and running and wants nothing to do with the Welcome Week for new students and parents that is going on. Casey's new roommate is Finn. Finn is alone, ready to find himself at college and in life. Meeting Jett, and learning a bit about how reclusive his new roommate is, Finn sets out to enjoy seeing the campus with Jett. As they get closer and share their pasts, both realize there is a lot in common.... both are gay, young and wanting to explore being with another guy, mainly each other. Sweet story with some definite heat!

I Enjoyed It
Written by Nina D on 4th May 2025

'They’d had such an amazing day together, he simply didn’t want it to end.' I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet quick romance. I liked both Finn and Jett. They were adorable together. Jett is (thank God!) completely different than his brother, Casey, who was a jerk. I'd hate to have him for my dormmate! Jett and Finn were really cute together and I liked that they took the time to get to know each other, share of little of their past history. Very sweet and they had great chemistry. 4 stars.

Finn and Jett
Written by Jen9731 on 4th May 2025

My Roommate's Brother is Book 4 of the Campus Crush series. It's a short and steamy, instalust, instalove, freshman virgin gets his roommate's older brother romance. Finn is a 20 year old gay freshman. Jett is the hunky, 22 year old brother of Casey, Finn's new roommate. After Jett gets Casey all moved into the dorm, he only wants to play his video games rather than hanging out with his big bro for the welcome weekend. When Finn and Jett meet, they are instantly attracted to one another, but Finn came from a small town and was never able to come out and explore his sexuality. Finn and Jett end up spending the weekend together, and things get hot and steamy. Jett was so sweet to put Finn's needs first and to give him time to explore in a safe space. But what happens when the weekend is over? I adored how Casey was wiser and more in tune with his brother than he thought. His love and respect for Jett, along with his blessing to be himself, was everything. This couple had hot chemistry, and their budding friendship was so sweet. I loved it.

Great addition to the series!
Written by Carrie K on 4th May 2025

I enjoyed My Roommate's Brother by Alex Winters. It's the fourth book in the Campus Crush series. I liked Finn and Jett's story. There was no drama from Jett's brother regarding Jett hooking up with his roommate. The story was short, but it had plenty of steamy scenes. However, some of the descriptive words used by the author made me cringe, like dancing balls, and were somewhat repetitive. She used dancing balls three times in the one scene. Overall, I enjoyed reading it, but I probably wouldn't reread it.

Unexpected attraction
Written by Mchap on 4th May 2025

Enjoyed this coming of age romance where an unexpected attraction catches both of them off guard. Liked how they felt the freedom to be themselves and to learn what it feels like to be cared for. Sweet ending as this romance progresses into the territory of HEA.

Sweet Story
Written by Luv2Read17 on 4th May 2025

There were a few steamy scenes, but overall this story was sweet. Jett is the older brother of Casey and helping to move him into his dorm. Finn is Casey's roommate. Fortunately for Jett and Finn, Casey is totally wrapped up in gaming and not into socializing. This is the story of Finn and Jett- both still trying to figure things out and knowing they want the other by their side. I'm glad I read this short story.

Finn and Jett
Written by LisaM on 4th May 2025

My Roommate's Brother is a male/male romance with a collage setting. Jett is helping his brother Casey move into his college dorm when Casey's roommate Finn walks into the room. From the moment Jett and Finns eyes met something stirred in them both. Not your typical Sex filled short romance.

Brilliant
Written by dubdub on 4th May 2025

Another winner from Alex! Absolutely loved the storyline which had moments of angst but overall shows that taking a risk is worth it to get the love you want. I was completely hooked following Jett and Finn's emotional journey and I was so glad they got the ending they deserved. A great well written storyline with brilliant steamy relationship development.

great little read
Written by Probablysmut on 4th May 2025

Honestly, I didn't expect to enjoy this short read as much as I did! I thought it would be another typical college romance, but the chemistry between Jett and Finn was so gripping. I found myself grinning like an idiot during their awkward moments – Finn's sweetness mixed with sarcasm, and Jett’s attempt to be responsible while clearly crushing on him, was hilarious. I kept thinking, “Dude, just kiss him already!” The playful tension builds quickly, and before I knew it, I was completely invested. Navigating Welcome Weekend (ugh, forced fun, anyone?) brought back so many memories. It’s not a deep read, but it's the perfect cute, feel-good story that had me rooting for the characters the entire time. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for something fun and light!

Excellent Series!
Written by PT reader on 4th May 2025

As usual, this is a wonderful series. I like the campus based setting with all of the books. This one wasn’t my favorite, I just prefer MF or MFM not MM. But as a story, it’s a good one.

Good read
Written by SMK9 on 4th May 2025

Jett and Finn's story is sweet, awkward and fun to read. This is a quick story that brings two young men together and allows them to grow their "hidden" truths together. Neither has a lot of experience with the physical or emotional sides of relationships but together they begin to explore them and find a sweet new love they never thought they would have. Grab the book and watch them grow within themselves and their new relationship.

Emotional journey with heart and heat
Written by LBing on 4th May 2025

This is another great addition to the series and this one really showcased the angst, risk and hope that comes with trying to find someone to love that will love you back. Jett and Finn had an emotional journey, fab communication, and a carefully paced romance as they determined whether lust or love was running the show. I enjoyed seeing them get their happy ending, with plenty of steam, and how the changes Jett made helped make everything perfect for them. Good fun!
