Project Morpheus, 4

He wanted a second-chance for a date, she wanted to survive their kidnapping...

World’s Most Handsome (and humble) Man, Rodeo Jones, never met a woman his no-fail charm couldn’t seduce. That is, until the virally-enhanced soldier mixes work and pleasure with the woman he is tasked to protect, Tachi Moreno, with deadly consequences. They become pawns in corrupt CFO Beau Lequire’s need for revenge. Trapped in a sadistic prison, Rodeo must shield Tachi, neutralize Lequire’s unnatural army, and resist false hope that a future exists for a smart, beautiful woman and a damaged soldier.

Plus-sized model Tachi does not have time for another cocky guy angling for a fling. Her career is taking off on the catwalk, and swaggering Rodeo with his secret military team doesn’t fit into her plans. But when Rodeo sacrifices himself to save her, Tachi questions his intentions … and her own heart. Before she can evaluate her growing feelings, they must escape by fleeing deep into the Okefenokee Swamp, where the biggest threat might not be Lequire.

Excerpt:

The kiss started as a light brush of his mouth over hers, sweeping back and forth but never losing contact with her lips. Tachi grabbed a fistful of his shimmery couture shirt, somehow noting an abnormally hard texture beneath the cloth. She rubbed the material with her fingertips.

He murmured against her lips, “Kevlar.”

Exactly what a girl wanted to hear from a guy she was kissing.

“I wish I could feel your hands there,” he growled into her mouth.

Logic brain briefly perked up. Tachi needed to step back and assess the situation, but couldn’t. He’d pressed her backside more firmly against the concrete pillar. Her shoulder rested against the wall. Tachi had nowhere to go.

Nowhere she wanted to go.

Oh, this situation was so bad. Her stomach quivered.

He exhaled a groan, and on instinct, Tachi opened her mouth. Rodeo slipped his tongue between her lips, stroking and teasing. Then he eased back and nipped at her lower lip, drawing it between his teeth and running his rough tongue over the skin.

Tachi’s knees nearly buckled. Delicious swirling sensations built into a needy throb between her legs. She pressed her hips forward, trying to ease the ache, but it only created more desire to get closer to him. She was on a cliff’s edge of passion, teetering on the brink.

Then she gave up any pretense of holding back. With twin moans and deep breaths, they kissed full-on, lips and tongues and tangling, sensations building until all of Tachi’s plans for a future centered on what this man was doing tonight. Nothing made sense. She didn’t care.

He slipped a hand under her shirt, drawing a shudder from her as he skimmed the sensitive skin of her stomach and then slipped up to stroke the underside of a breast.

More. She arched toward him. Offering.

With his thumb, he grazed her nipple through the lace and swallowed her moan with his ongoing kiss.

“Shit, you’re sexy,” he murmured against her mouth. Then he slid his hand under the bra, trapping her pebbled tip between the firm pinch of his callused finger and thumb.

Liquid heat throbbed in time with his caress. “Rodeo.” She shuddered again. This guy was going to take her apart right here in public, and Tachi didn’t care. She pressed against him, enjoying his equally frustrated groan.

“You will be the death of me, Tachi. You have too many clothes on. What I want to do to you right now…”

After another hot kiss, she pulled back. “Got some good ideas for making out in public?”

He groaned and moved his hand down her belly to her waistband. “I am a master of creativity.”

“Tell me more.”

“Rather show you.” He skimmed his hand lower and lower beneath her capris until he encountered her heat. He kicked his shoe against hers, pushing her leg out and making room for…

Oh God. His fingertip brushed her nub, and a jolt of pleasure shot through her. She tottered on her too-unstable high heels.

He shifted his other hand from behind her head to snake around her waist. “I’ve got you, baby.” His voice rumbled against her lips before angling for another kiss while sweeping his fingers over her again.

Did that whimper come from her mouth? Who cared. She wanted him. He wanted her.

Holy crap, they were in public.

Tachi did not care. She ran her hand along the hard ridge straining the seams of his slim-cut pants. “When can we get out of here?”

“Soon, but—”

A loud blast echoed, shaking the concrete floor under her feet.

A delightful book that takes us into the lives of Rodeo and Tachi. Their journey starts excitingly when they are kidnapped together, and even though Rodeo has special abilities, they still have to find a way to escape because they are not out of danger yet. I enjoyed the sharp remarks back and forth and their bickering. Fantastic story and definitely recommended!

Lethal Comrade starts off with Rodeo and Tachi strutting the runway, flirting with style, before slamming into chaos as an explosion rips it all apart. It's an engaging, adrenaline-fueled mission that quickly goes off script. Rodeo has to depend on his wit and strength to outsmart the enemy while using his charm to keep Tachi grounded, protected, and fighting beside him. Despite the sticky situation they find themselves in, the nonstop banter and sizzling chemistry bring plenty of laughs, even in the direst moments. The emotional struggle is a constant low hum throughout their fight for survival. The team adds warmth, camaraderie, and dark humour while we hold our breath, hoping love does its job. An exciting, pulse-pounding entertainer.
