Survival, 3

Miles is the villain in everyone’s story. Raised by the most hated pack in the States and accused of abandoning his baby brother and leaving him to die, his reputation as a man to avoid has been firmly cemented. Miles could care less about his crafted bad boy persona. Social niceties aren’t his thing. His mate constantly rejecting him? Now that’s not just a sore spot, it’s a festering wound. He could try the good guy routine to win Akela over, but the clock ran out on that option. Since nice guys finish last, he fully expects to win.

Excerpt:

An intense emotion shook me. I could feel our mate bond, usually a sluggish passive thing, start to pulse in a rhythm that matched my pounding heart.

I completely and utterly froze, terrified that no matter what I did next, it would push her away. She pulled back to view my face, clearly puzzled. “What’s wrong?”

A shaky breath escaped my lips. Before I could stop myself and act more like an alpha, I did the most omega thing ever and talked about my insecurities. “I’m scared shitless I’m going to mess this up. There’s nothing in this damn world I want more than you, but nothing I’ve done so far has proven my worth to you as your mate.” The silence stretched between us and the word vomitorium wouldn’t stop. “I lost my shit seeing you on Alpha Austin’s porch, arms crossed over your chest and looking at me like I was dirt. Every one there celebrating the kidnapping of Raff’s mate. A total Grey wolf thing to do, by the way. I was like, shit, well, if it worked for him, why the fuck not? And then you’re here and my brain is telling me, wow, that shit worked. Yet my heart is telling me not to hope. So instead, I’m begging for scraps and wondering if that makes me a weak alpha, like my father. I just…”

My rambling was cut off by Akela jumping on me. Her mouth latched onto mine and she sucked on my bottom lip almost to the point of pain. Her hands tunneled under my shirt, nails marking my back. She grinded against me, making these devilish little moans that had my balls tightening.

The word mush circling my mind went blissfully silent. These signals I understood clearly. My mate wanted me. Yet, the last time we were together, I’d thrown down an ultimatum. I had to stick to it. I pinned her down on the bed by laying my body on top of hers. She took the movement as encouragement and sucked on my tongue with renewed vigor. It took all the strength I had to break away from her kiss and rest my weight on my forearms. She nibbled on her bottom lip while her eyes searched mine. The heat radiating from her core made my dick twitch in anticipation. Her hips rose off the bed while her greedy clit sought out the friction of my cock trapped in my jeans. It was close to my undoing.

“Say it,” I demanded.

I was grateful she didn’t act confused or tighten her lips stubbornly. A tilted smile graced her mouth and a guilty little chuckle accompanied it. It was like she’d hoped I wouldn’t have asked, but knew that expectation was futile.

“It’s real,” she whispered.

“Nope.” I shook my head, our faces so close that our noses rubbed. “The whole thing.”

“Why do you want it so badly? You know the truth.” Her stubborn side was showing.

“Because you’ve rejected me enough. This has meaning.”

“All right, Miles, I understand.” She took in a deep breath and looked at me solemnly. “You are my true mate. What we have between us is real.”

I couldn’t think of a single dirty thing ever spoken to me that was sexier than that. My hand slid inside her stretchy leggings, cupping her sex, and using the heel of my palm to grind her clit while my fingers explored how incredibly wet her little thong was.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is a great story. Loved the characters and the charisma between them. Survival is the main thing and they establish that immediately.

I was a little lost at forst at no fault of the authors but mine as this was the first book I read in this series by a new to me author and I should have read the other two first. Interesting love story told by the millions point of view. Enemies to lovers story with a feisty mate who does not want to accept her fate. Will definately be going back to read the other books in this series and would like to see the series as a set so i can read one after the other and not wait for the next book.

Miles Away From Home!
Written by Mary on 24th Feb 2024

This is the third story in the "Survival" series. It is a slow burn romance between fated mates. This is a beautiful story about Miles and Akela. This is an emotional story with some angst and passion. It does go back an fourth in time periods which gets a little challenging to follow. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end. There are ups, down and big bumps to their story but they finally find easier times.

Loved This “Bad Boy Isn’t What He Seems” Story!
Written by PT reader on 24th Feb 2024

I truly enjoyed this story. Book 3 in a series that you really want to read in order to understand what is going on. The setting is a bit unique for a shifter world, so you will want the background from the first two books. This story was written so you learn the many years of history between the two Alphas as the book goes on. Each chapter was clearly marked, I never wondered “when was this happening?” It made the plot flow so easily that I could just enjoy the telling of the tale. The ending brought everything together and I just feel so at peace. Don’t get me wrong, I want more from this world; however, I am happy to wait for the next installment!

Miscommunication and denial
Written by A Schofield on 24th Feb 2024

This story is about miscommunication and denial. It follows Miles and how he tries to do the right thing from a young age but, ends up loosing everything he holds dear so they can be saved. It is a great book as it doesn’t follow the normal route for the typical happily ever after scenario. I like it fir this as it kept my attention and interest until the final page.

Another great book in this series!! ❤️
Written by Red18 on 24th Feb 2024

We are introduced to a new pack in this story in a dramatic way. Akela is abducted by her fated mate and she comes to realize Miles is not as bad as he is portrayed. When the truth comes out about how Tate was cast out by his family, Akela voices her regrets about how she treated Miles for years. I liked getting more details about the hierarchy of pack life and pack bonds. I was surprised about the outcome of Dex’s actions and was cringing that he might retaliate. Maybe the next book? Will he see the error in his ways and be accepted back in the pack? Great series! I am thoroughly enjoying it ❤️

Sexy read that still pulls at the heart strings!
Written by Kelsey on 16th Feb 2024

This story ended up being my favorite of the series, despite it being focused on the villain. I loved exploring a new pack with new characters, and found myself so invested in the fate of Miles and Akela. Highly recommend starting with Books 1 and 2, then get ready for this amazing story that will break your heart more than once as the characters try to find their happy ending.
