No Wolves Road, 2

Lisa was never going to forgive him. After falling in love with an Alpha, giving herself to him, and seeing a future with him, Lisa had her heart crushed. He was only using her. She was not a wolf, so she wasn't good enough to be his mate. Breaking up with him, was the only thing to do.

Shadow wasn’t ready to end things with her. From the moment he first saw the human, he knew he wanted her. What he didn’t expect was to fall hard and fast. But she’s no wolf. She can never be his mate. Then why can't be bear the thought of losing her?

His mate was supposed to be another wolf. But Lisa did something to him, and now he cannot stop thinking about her. He has to do something to win her back, to gain back her trust. When he finds out she is pregnant with his child, he knows this is the only chance he is going to get to make things right.

Lisa never intends to forgive Shadow. Being around him, day after day, it gets harder to keep him at arm’s length. And the truth is, does she really want to? What harm is there in forgiving?

Excerpt:

He didn’t want to do that. For the past month, he’d been trying to figure out ways of getting Lisa to forgive him. The flowers were a good idea, but according to Pam, the chocolates had ended up at the coffee shop for other people to enjoy. She’d not even charged anyone for the pleasure. All the other material gifts—the jewelry, books, furniture—had been returned.

Shadow didn’t know what to do. He’d even been tempted to pay Beau Alpha a visit to ask him what he did, but he knew the outcome of that union. Beau was now mated to the human, the very first in No Wolves Road.

“Maybe you could be happy for her,” Pam said.

“Happy for her?”

“Yeah, she might meet the man of her dreams tonight. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Shadow growled. He couldn’t handle the thought of her being near any other man. The very thought of it was inconceivable to him. There was no way that could happen. No fucking way at all.

“No!”

Pam stared at him. “Are you serious? Do you expect an amazing woman like Lisa Bennett to not find a man of her own? What about when you find a mate or settle down? Will it be acceptable to you then?”

Shadow glared at her.

“Wow, you know what, I didn’t peg you as a selfish bastard, but you are really getting there right now.”

“I am not a selfish bastard,” he said.

“Yeah, you are. What is worse, you don’t even see it. You don’t want to take Lisa for forever, but you don’t want her to be with anyone else. You’re a selfish bastard, and maybe one day you will even begin to see the error of what you’re doing right now.” Pam shook her head. “I’m going to get Lisa, and I’m going to make sure she has a good time.”

There was nothing for Shadow to do or say. He could only watch as Pam left. Putting his hands on his waist, he tapped his foot. It wasn’t any of his business, he knew that. He should just let Lisa go. That would be the right thing to do, but even his wolf wasn’t happy. Neither of them wanted to think of Lisa with another man. Just the very thought of it had him growling low and deep within his throat. His hands clenched, and he felt the skin begin to split as the transition threatened to take control.

He was a grown man. He’d not been at the mercy of his wolf or his emotions in a very long time. At the start of his training to be Alpha, his father had made sure he was in constant control.

Taking some deep breaths, he tried to bring himself back under control, and that felt nearly impossible. But he did so. He was not going to lose control.

Pam was going to take Lisa and her friend out to enjoy a fun night dancing. There was nothing he could do about it. There was also nothing Pam could do to stop him from being there, so he took off, heading toward No Wolves Road Bar.

At the edge of the parking lot, he stopped and looked over toward the bar. The scent of humans and wolves was strong. It was a Friday night, so a lot of people were looking for a partner to spend the weekend with.

Lisa was in there.

Men were in there.

He couldn’t allow anyone to touch his Lisa.

Shadow paused after taking one step toward the bar. What he was doing was selfish, but this was for Lisa’s sake. If she wanted to find a man to cherish her, it wasn’t going to be inside a bar. Nothing good ever came from dating someone in a bar. She deserved to find a man who had similar tastes to herself. Lisa was not a partying woman.

He took one step in front of the other and made his way inside the bar. It didn’t matter how many people were there, he still picked up Lisa’s scent, and he looked in her general direction.

Pam, Lisa, and Adele were at the bar, all three of them in revealing dresses. He didn’t give a shit what Pam and Adele were wearing.

Lisa wore a black dress that plunged at the front, revealing the top part of her breasts. She had worn that dress once before, for him and him alone. He’d been the one to remove it from her body, using his teeth. She’d been begging and moaning, and the scent of her pussy had been heavy in the air. The memory was one of his favorites.

Lisa hadn’t been shy when it came to sex. Although she’d been a virgin, she had trusted him. That first time had been painful for her. The first thrust, that is. The moment he felt her virginity give way to his cock, the temptation to just take her hard and fast had been so strong. Even now, Shadow didn’t know how he’d been able to stop himself.

He’d held himself balls-deep inside her and waited until she was ready. Only then had he made love to her. He hadn’t even fucked her but took all night to make up for the brief pain he caused her. He had forgotten until this very moment that he’d hated hurting her and had never wanted to do it again. That night, holding her while she slept in his arms, he had vowed he would never hurt her again.

I fucked that one up.

With Lisa, he messed everything up and had no idea how to make it better.

Second Chances
Written by JeniT on 14th Jan 2025

Lisa and Shadow are both amazing characters but can’t seem to communicate well. He said some things that are really messed up and she doesn’t want to be with anymore. Despite his words Shadow is still trying to be with her and once they find out she’s pregnant it becomes a forced proximity situation. Finally get some warmth and we get a super sweet HEA

In Denial About His Mate
Written by Luv2Read17 on 14th Jan 2025

Shadow Storm (Alpha of a local pack) was seeing Lisa, a human for six months. One night, she overheard him saying that he'd never mate with a human. Due to being devastated, she's been trying to avoid talking to him. Shadow is fighting his feelings. He doesn't want to be mated to a human, but knows that Lisa isn't just any human. I really enjoyed this quick shifter read.

Engaging with angst and steam
Written by LBing on 11th Jan 2025

This was a fun read full of angst and regret when an alpha, Storm, bad mouths his girlfriend out of emotional fear. Human gal, Lisa, after hearing all the smack talk, rightly, walked out of his life. Soon enough, though, he realized he couldn't stay away and deeply regretted what he'd said to keep his pack mates off his back... This was an engaging read and I really enjoyed the side characters weighing in on their journey to a hot HEA ;D

love it!
Written by Diana A on 11th Jan 2025

I love this book, I would like a little more groveling, but it was good. An easy reading, not a lot of tension and really enjoyable. This is the second book of the series which is in a city where is in between packs so they involve with humans, and looks like faith mate alphas and humans.

Storm’s Mistake
Written by Stacii on 11th Jan 2025

Lisa and Shadow’s story has them coming together but when she’s finds out he’s using her. He thinks humans are useless and tells his pack, as he’s the alpha, ahole. She breaks it off and leaves but she took a little gift with her. He can’t seem to stop thinking about her and when he finds out she’s pregnant by Pam, a pack member, he will do some half butt apology. Good story with action, drama, suspense and heat to make for a good read.

Second chances
Written by A Schofield on 11th Jan 2025

I thought that this was a fun story about Lisa making Shadow grovel after he made a stupid and hurtful mistake. I liked the fact that Lisa didn’t cave like every other female does once they are put in a similar position. She was feisty but fair. This was a very good and compelling read.

Nice quick shifter read! There were so many times I wanted to smack Shadow but ultimately the HEA was really cute. And I loved how Lisa stayed strong and made him grovel!

Storm and Lisa ??
Written by madhatter831 on 11th Jan 2025

I really enjoyed reading this short wolf shifter story. Storm had to earn Lisa's forgiveness and prove himself worthy of her love. I would've liked more scenes with Storm's wolf, but still recommend this nonetheless.

Awesome story
Written by RhondaVB on 11th Jan 2025

Shadow is the Alpha of his pack and while he thinks humans are weak, it doesn't stop him from "hooking up" with Lisa, who is a human. When she hears him tell his buddies that he will never mate with a human and he's just basically staying with Lisa because she's a good hook up. It shatters her heart and she leaves him. When one of his pack members points out that he should either fix things with Lisa or move on, he can't do that. For me, Shadow was a jerk throughout the story but at a pivotal moment, he suddenly decides he has screwed up so bad and will do whatever it takes to win her back. All Lisa has ever wanted was to find a man who loved her, have kids and have a home. Can Shadow convince Lisa that he finally understands that she is his mate and he really wants a life with her? I loved that she took her time and didn't take him back right away but made him work for it! Great story!

Storm's Mistake by Sam Crescent
Written by LyndsayL on 11th Jan 2025

I have been a big fan of Sam Crescent for a while and I have to say her writing gets better and better. This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Lisa walking in and hearing Shadow saying things about her that were not so nice and walking away from him, and the grovelling he had to do when he realizes he just can't live without her in his life. I so can't wait to read more books about the other characters that we were introduced to in this book. This story was very well-developed the interactions between the main characters were both thrilling and kept me thoroughly enthralled with the book. I highly recommend this book!!!!

Storms coming
Written by Reensburger on 11th Jan 2025

I love it when an alpha shifter ahole needs to grovel and grovel is what Storm does. When Alpha Storm is overhead by his human lover Lisa that he's only messing around with her and she'll never be his mate, it breaks Lisa's heart. But she's no doormat, she ends it there and then, moving on with her life. Once Storm realises that he in fact has nit only broken Lisa's heart, but his as well he sets out to win her back, and he finds the ultimate opening - her pregnancy. The grovel is good and I loved how Lisa stayed true to herself and didn't give in at the first sign of flowers.

Grovel time!
Written by Ander3sl on 11th Jan 2025

The story begins with an “ending”…when Shadow screws up and loses Lisa. The meat and potatoes of the plot is his effort to win her back. I love that she does not immediately accept his apology as it shows that she has respect for herself. Nobody treats Lisa like a doormat and no matter her love for him he has to show that in return. Overall this novella length story has quite a bit packed in its pages and I look forward to the next story to see which Alpha will fall for a human!

A great wolf shifter falling for a human story. Shadow is the Alpha of the Storm pack who finds himself very attracted to Lisa who is a human working in a coffee shop. Storm
Written by Michele77 on 11th Jan 2025

This is a wonderful story. Shadow Storm is a wolf shifter and alpha of his pack, Lisa is human and works at a local coffee shop. The story begins with them already in the “ex” stage of their relationship. What follows is the most fitting groveling on the part of Shadow. Great characters, great storyline.

Written by Andrea R on 11th Jan 2025

This book was great--the storyline was great as well. I really think that the story moved at just the right pace and although Storm could have groveled for forgiveness a bit more it was so great. Can't wait to see where the next book in the series takes us.

Making things right
Written by Bookbunny on 11th Jan 2025

Lisa was burned by Shadow Storm. There were so many different wolf shifters. But most seemed to think of the human’s as a good time. They weren’t mate material. Eloise and Beau changed that. Lisa thought perhaps she had found her forever with Shadow. When she over heard him talking to other wolves about her, she knew she was wrong. Now Shadow is trying to winner her back. He knows he made a mistake but he didn’t think Lisa would give him the cold shoulder this long. I liked Pam. She seemed to understand all about what the humans were feeling. The wolves needed to wake up and realize that them treating the humans like a throw away. Eventually someone was going to get hurt. Lisa didn’t deserve the way Shadow treated her. I was really disappointed in him. It took Pam to make him understand. And the reason for Adele staying single is so sad. I hope she finds her someone.

Want more!
Written by Readstoforget on 11th Jan 2025

I loved Shadow and Lisa’s story. He assumed his mate would be another wolf instead it’s a human and Shadow has no idea what to do with that. Initially he doesn’t handle it well but don’t worry, he grovels plenty. Do recommend.

SHADOW AND LISA
Written by Gkp2460 on 11th Jan 2025

Storms Mistake is book 2 in the No Wolves Road series and it's a fast-paced, steamy, quick read. Shadow and Lisa are the best together and their story is great. Shadow Shadow begs better than any guy I've ever seen. Him getting back into Lisa's good graces was completely perfect! I love that Lisa didn't totally let him off the hook so easily. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey. "I want to be your everything, just as you are my everything."

A bit of grovel never hurt!
Written by Laura S. on 11th Jan 2025

Storm has his work cut out for him! After pursuing (human) Lisa and finally getting into her bed, she overhears him putting her down to other packmates. What a crushing blow to Lisa! As she is determined to keep him away from her, he is more determined to win her back after realizing that maybe she means a bit more to him than he expected! A bit of grovel, a good friend who wants the best for both of them, and realizing what you thought was right might just be wrong makes for an entertaining story with a few surprises along the way!

Lisa is a human living among humans and wolves. Storm is a wolf shifter attracted to a human for the first time. Lisa hears him saying not so nice things about her and that nearly destroys her. She's in love with a man who really doesn't love her or so she thinks. When Storm realizes that Lisa overheard his idiotic spiel he comes to term with the fact that his strong feelings for a human have done a number on his head. Now he has to get her to forgive him and not because she's expecting. Will Lisa get over the hurt and pain? I truly enjoyed this read ?!
