The DaCostas of Pérola, 2

To please his grandfather, Leandro Monteiro agrees to an arranged marriage—only to lose his fiancée to his own half-brother. When Tahlia DaCosta, his ex-fiancée’s sister, steps in as the replacement bride, disaster strikes again. A devastating accident leaves Leandro paralyzed, and Tahlia’s family immediately calls off the wedding.

But Leandro refuses to give up.

Desperate to convince his ailing grandfather to seek cancer treatment, he’s determined to marry no matter the cost. With time running out, he corners Tahlia into a marriage of convenience—a fake union with an expiration date.

What begins as a cold arrangement between a bitter groom and a reluctant bride soon ignites into something far more dangerous. Forced proximity awakens hidden desires, old wounds, and undeniable chemistry neither of them can ignore.

But with misunderstandings, betrayal, and family pressure threatening to tear them apart, can Tahlia and Leandro find real love in a relationship that was never meant to last?

Excerpt:

“What are you doing here?” He watched her as she walked into his room, his hooded eyes not missing the lacy camisole and tiny shorts she sported.

Tahlia glanced around the room, taking in the bottle that lay shattered against one wall, the dark liquid spilling noiselessly onto the lovely maroon carpet.

“Have you been drinking?”

He grunted. “Celebrating my wedding night.”

“Alone?”

His eyelids lifted, showing off eyes that blazed at her question. “Are you here to give me company then?”

“I will, if you ask me nicely,” she replied nonchalantly, despite the mad pounding of her heart.

He raised his head, perused her from head to toe, dark eyes raking over every inch of her before coming to rest on her breasts. He stared long enough for them to pebble and Tahlia colored as she casually lifted her arms and crossed them over her breasts.

“Come to bed then, wife.” His voice dripped over her like thick honey, pricking goose bumps over her flesh. Patting the space beside him, he invited her to join him but Tahlia resisted the urge to take him up on his offer.

Even drunk, Leandro was handsome, with hooded eyes that invited her to lose herself in them. With hair sticking up in places and a rough stubble covering his lower jaw, he looked decadently rakish. His jacket was missing—so was the tie, and the buttons of his snowy white shirt were almost completely undone, showing off a sculpted torso with generous smattering of hair arrowing down to…

Tearing her eyes off his body, she stood up straight. “Can’t sleep?” she inquired. She suspected he’d been drinking to cope with pain but was certain if she asked him, he would deny it outright.

He snorted.

“Don’t you have medication for pain?”

“They taste awful.”

His childish response made her smile. “You know, I give a mean massage. Maybe it will relieve some of the pain?”

He eyed her warily. “I can think of other ways to relieve the pain.”

She chuckled, despite the heat that bloomed in her cheeks. “I’m sure your body has had enough excitement for one day.”

Leandro opened his mouth but she quickly leaned forward and kissed him. Heat swirled inside her as Tahlia succumbed to the warmth of his lips. The kiss was intended to silence him but she hadn’t expected him to return the kiss. Or devour her. Strong arms boldly wound around her, making her shudder, but she knew she couldn’t lose control. Not again. One night of hedonistic pleasure in this man’s arms had taught her that she was incapable of resisting him.

Tearing her lips off his, she tried not to acknowledge the fact that the kiss had liquified her bones and turned her insides into mush. “Be a good boy now and let me help you.” Not waiting for him to respond, she reached for his shirt.

The Replacement Bride is a captivating romance filled with emotion, family drama, and unexpected love. What begins as a complicated arrangement quickly develops into a heartfelt story of trust, healing, and finding happiness where it’s least expected. The hero is protective and determined, while the heroine brings strength, grace, and resilience to every challenge she faces. Their chemistry builds beautifully, blending tender moments with plenty of romantic tension. With engaging characters and an emotionally satisfying journey, this is a compelling read that keeps you invested until the very last page.

Leandro & Tahlia
Written by Nathalie D. on 23rd Jun 2026

This book was a great read! A morally gray MC - Leandro needs to get married to secure his place in the family so a marriage is arranged (though the bride is not who was promised), but he suffers an accident that leaves him paralyzed, and the wedding is called off. However Leandro is not about to give up his position, so he contacts Tahlia, and uses a bit of manipulation to her human nature (she is caring) to get her to marry him. But while everyone thinks this is just a business arrangement, Leandro and Tahlia learn that close proximity, connection, and attraction can break walls and lead into a passionate affair that can seal fates. A short steamy read!

This is the second book I've read written by Anna Paul; I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is the DaCostas of Perola Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Tahlia & Leandro.

Arranged marriage--This was a great story and great continuation to the set--I love the writing style and how the characters story played out. From arranged marriage to true love. It navigated betrayal and suspicions to deliver and great story.

The Replacement Bride - 4.5 stars
Written by Avidreader23 on 23rd Jun 2026

Great plot with lots of guilt blackmail, family drama, redeemable morally grey MMC (although makes me want to kill him in the beginning he treats Tahlia so bad), angst, romance, hea - recommended Leandro is the one of the heirs of the famous Monteiro family and needs to get married. He finally secures a bride - via forced arranged marriage - when he has an accident that leaves him in a wheelchair and the wedding is off. Tahlia is forced to marry Leandro. However, when the accident happens, the wedding is called off by her mother. I hate, hate her mother. She is evil. Tahlia makes a decision based on her good heart and amazing human values - no spoilers. I love how Tahlia stands up for herself and does not compromise who she is and her values, despite being programmed to be a puppet.

The Replacement Bride!
Written by Mary on 23rd Jun 2026

This is an emotional roller coaster ride about Leandro, Tahlia and a little blackmail. It is the second story in the DaCostas of Pérola" but can be enjoyed as a stand alone read. This first story in the series is really good as well. Tahlia's mother has arranged a marriage between her and Leandro. When a car crash changes his life, her mother call the arrangement off. Leandro takes matters into his own hands and somewhat blackmails Tahlia to marry him. They are stuck in an unwanted and loveless marriage. Or are they? Their story develops nicely. I was completely engrossed in this story until the very end. This one was addicting and I could not put it down. I love the ending to this story. WOW!

Tahlia and Leandro
Written by Chmhowel on 23rd Jun 2026

This is book 2 in this series. I love how the book started with the accident. The author did a great job writing Leandro and Tahlia's characters. They both brought their own insecurities in the relationship. There was a lot of friction because of outside influences. I love their story. Great book!

Book 2 of The DaCostas of Pérola 'But with misunderstandings, betrayal, and family pressure threatening to tear them apart, can Tahlia and Leandro find real love in a relationship that was never meant to last?' The characters were very likeable. Plot was intriguing. World building was solidly drawn. All in all a very good read. Recommend. Grab a copy!

Wow

This one was such a sad story. Leandro has had a rough time after an accident leaves him paralyzed and his fiancees family calls off his wedding as a result. He enters into an arrangement with Tahlia to go forward with the marriage but he's not the same man she fell in love with. Watching these two find their way back to each other made for a heart wrenching story but it was so good!
