Romance on the Go ®

At a mysterious masquerade ball, two lovers with an unknown agenda wonder what will happen when the masks come off at dawn?

Dorissa has always refused Rafe’s offer of marriage, but this ball might just be the right time to change the ton's strictly-enforced rules. Provided they both survive until the morning...

Be Warned: BDSM, anal sex, spanking

This is a previously published work. It has been revised and edited for Evernight Publishing.

Excerpt:

Time to move to the next act of this play she knew by heart. “May I, my lord?” She looked up at him, and the action made his hold on her hair tighten even more. It was, she decided, a tug just short of unbearable pain. Luckily it was still a sweet pain and part of their play that Dorissa relished. Rafe was a master at bringing her to the brink and refusing to let her tumble over into the abyss. She loved it. Every sweet sting, harsh pain, and eventual climax was all she wanted. This evening it seemed she was to suffer the agonies of not achieving release while her lover did. Nothing new, but already tonight it seemed sharper and more intense. And she had to endure, revel and wait.

For now. Dorissa kept perfectly still until Rafe announced his decision, even though the outcome would be a forgone conclusion.

“Of course.” His words washed over her like a wave of need. They were all the agreement Dorissa required. In the darkness she saw only the outline of his body, and she worked by touch to open the placket of his breeches and release his cock. The nip to her neck made her stop and angle her head towards his.

“No hands.” It seemed that on this occasion, Rafe decreed differently. “You know how to do it. Put them behind your back. Let me bind them.” It wasn’t needed but was part of their interaction they both enjoyed. The sense of domination and submission.

So it was to be mouth on cock, then?

“Yes.” Dorissa put her arms behind her back and waited as the hands on her hair moved, and Rafe stretched over and tied her wrists together with the cord that otherwise held one of the curtains back from the window.

 “No words.”

She nodded and his lips parted enough for her to see his teeth as he smiled at her response, and once more took up his tight, scalp-pulling hold on her hair.

Rafe chuckled. “Oh so polite, my love. So acquiescent. It bodes well.”

I’m glad you think so. Just wait, my love. Just you wait.

Dorissa shuffled nearer his seat and ignored the sting-turned-to-pain in her scalp. Not for the first time, she mentally thanked Rafe for insisting Aubusson carpet be put down in his coach. If the coachmen knew what happened between the silk-covered sides of the carriage and on that expensive, carpeted floor, they were sensible enough not to mention it. If walls could talk, the ton would be rocked to the core. And not just by her and Rafe.

Assignations could and did take place in the most unexpected locations. Even so, she appreciated the luxurious floor covering. Dorissa was happy to ache inside, feel battered and bruised and taut with sexual tension, but scuffed knees were never on her agenda.

Rafe laughed softly as he kept one hand tight in her hair while she bent her head and maneuvered her mouth around the thick, mushroom-shaped head of his staff. He tasted of man, hot roused male. Hers.

The very first thing I have to say is thank goodness the warmer weather is here. Why? Because this book is so hot I needed the air conditioning on. "The Vampire's Breakfast" is the second release by Kera Faire and I gotta say, keep them coming. Her first release, The Dispatcher:Death Isle was a smash hit. I will venture to say that her readers will love this one just as much. This is part of Evernight's, Romance To Go series, so it is a quick read, but it is long on the heat factor.Rafe is taking Dorissa to a Vampire's Breakfast. It is a masked ball where at the end of the festivities, at dawn, everyone unmasks to see who the vampires are and who the mortals are. This novella is set in Victorian times, and even though I typically avoid Victorian novels, I'll read anything this author writes. She's that good! There is plenty of kinky sex packed into this book, and the ending is quite the surprise. This is one of those books I'll be reading over and over again. Great job Kera!

Dorissa and Rafe have a deep connection to each other and enjoy spending time together doing all sorts of fun
Written by Nicole J Plummer on 17th Jun 2016

Note: This is my review of the book when it was originally in an anthology. This edition of the book has been updated. It’s the night of a masked ball. In the morning, at dawn, at breakfast, a twist. The masks come off and everyone will learn who the vampires are. Dorissa and Rafe have a deep connection to each other and enjoy spending time together doing all sorts of fun, extra-curricular activities, also known as hot, steamy sex. But each of them knows what they want from the other. It’s just a matter of figuring out if the other can agree. When the mask falls down at dawn and the vampire is revealed things will change. But will it be a good change or will everything fall apart? I’m always a fan of short stories that pack a punch, especially when the author doesn’t rush the plot. This is one of those. You forget how short it is because it is so well written. It’s a steamy read, so be prepared.
