Cassie Love cannot stand Slade Coal. He has absolutely no respect for personal boundaries—he’s also her next-door neighbor and her colleague, the smoking hot, oh-so-popular deputy. All the women in town love him, but not her. Nope.

Slade has his eye on his sexy, curvy neighbor. She’s so prim and proper that he just wants to dirty her up a little. He’ll have to settle for teasing her, though, because Slade doesn’t do relationships, or love.

When Slade and Cassie have a do-over, their attitudes change, and they find they actually have a lot in common, so their friendship is born. Without realizing it, Slade helps to heal Cassie’s broken heart, and in doing so, awakens the woman she has kept buried deep.

But what happens when their friendship changes again and they include a little benefit into the mix? Slade loves to get dirty, and Cassie wants to experience something hot. But to go from friends-with-benefits to down the aisle—is that even possible?

Be Warned: anal sex, food as sex toys

Excerpt:

Slade had wanted to do a victory dance when her date had got up and left. He sat down in her sitting room, waiting for his iced cold beer that she’d promised him. His shoes were already kicked off, and he placed his feet on the coffee table in front of him.

They had sat in her sitting room many times eating a box of cheesy chips, and drinking a cold beer.

Cassie entered, carrying two bottles of beer, and a tub of chocolate ice cream.

“Hold on a second.”

He watched as she kicked her shoes off and sighed as she made her way toward him. She handed him a beer and a spoon, taking a seat beside him. Her bottle of beer was on the coffee table. Her feet were curled up underneath her. She rested the ice cream tub on a pillow, and then they were diving in.

“I don’t even know why I let myself be talked into it.”

“You wanted to date,” he said.

“That wasn’t it.”

Slade looked at her, and he saw her cheeks were already bright red. “You can’t just say something like that and not elaborate. I’m a guy. I don’t know what the whole blushing thing means.”

“It doesn’t matter. Forget I said anything.”

He sighed. “What is it? If it wasn’t for the date, then what was it for?”

She took a bite of chocolate ice cream, and her brown eyes stared at him. He saw the conflict in her gaze, and he held his hands up.

“You can say whatever you like, and I won’t judge. I won’t say anything. I’ll keep my opinions to myself.”

“You promise?”

“I promise. I don’t say shit I don’t mean.”

She bit her lip, and he watched as she squared her shoulders. “I’m twenty-five years old.”

“I know.”

“I’ve only been with one guy, and he completely smashed my heart.”

Slade stared at her. “You’re looking for someone to fuck?”

She nodded her head, surprising him. “I’m a woman. I have needs just like everyone else. I don’t want, nor do I need, forever. I just … I want to make memories, different ones than what I remember with Andrew. He wasn’t that great, and I was blinded by lies. I want to feel something. I heard you with those women out back. It sounded like it felt good, and I guess, I don’t know, I figured I’d find someone to do it with.”

Slade honestly didn’t know what to say. His cock was rock fucking hard. Hearing Cassie’s need, and knowing what she wanted, it turned him on.

Sitting at the bar tonight watching her with another man, it had made him assess his own feelings for her. He wasn’t in love with her, and he didn’t for a second see a marriage in their future. She was his friend, and he didn’t want that to change.

What he couldn’t do was deny that she aroused him. He was attracted to her, and had been for a long time, even before they were friends.

Putting his hand on her thigh, he stared into her eyes.

She was never going to take that next step, and it was down to him to make the move. He took the ice cream and the pillow from her, placing them on the floor.

Cassie didn’t stop him.

Night Owl Review
Written by PaulineMichael on 10th Oct 2017

Sam Crescent reeled me in yet again with this sexy read. I seriously know not to think I'm gonna get anything else done the minute I decide to open one of her stories because chaos could erupt around me and I'd refuse to step out of this story. Cassie Love is a wonderful woman who despite her hard upbringing is full of warmth and goodness and I love watching her prickly reactions to Slade. She is successful and happy and better yet she is loved by so many people. I just wanted her to get her happily ever after. Slade Coal could have been one of the biggest jerks to ever walk the earth but instead his actions all make perfect sense when you get to know him. I enjoyed watching these two circle around one another and it's been days since I've read this and I'm still laughing out loud at the surprise Cassie gets from her best friend. Once again I love this author's style, how she is able to keep her heroes Alpha without being asses, how her heroines are real without being whiny or walked over. How the magic of true love is like a spell she weaves and in doing so she also turns up the temperature for some delicious adult entertainment. If you love sexy contemporary romance, especially with a curvy heroine then this one is an absolute must read! The Story: After a pretty tumultuous childhood Cassie Love is happy to have a place to call home too bad her sexy coworker is also her neighbor. She thinks he needs to install a revolving door for all his ladies and he thinks she needs to, loosen up. Can these two go from adversaries, to friends, to lovers?

The TBR Pile

Cassie has a bad history with men but she’s content to focus on her job. But her next-door neighbor and co-worker, deputy Slade is driving her nuts. Must he have sex with women outside and it’s always a different girl! When the come to a tentative truce they both find out there’s more to each other than what’s on the surface. Cassie rocks! She’s had a tough past and is now very guarded but I love the way she deals with Slade. She doesn’t fall over him, she stands up to him. She’s not weak and worthless. She isn’t falling for his sexual pickup lines or his handsome face…at first. There’s a slow chipping away at her resolve that I really love reading. Jared doesn’t date just uses women for sex but that pattern is changing now that he’s gotten to know his neighbor and co-worker Cassie. Their romance is tantalizing and intoxicating. I couldn’t stop reading! There isn’t much action but that didn’t matter because their story really pulled me in. I wanted to see how they finally admitted to each other about their feelings. The ending is really rushed though and I wish the author would have taken her time telling us about Cassie and Slades happy ending. If you’re looking for a hot, quick read this book will be perfect fit.

GOOD
Written by Neringa on 13th Aug 2017

The books name is really catching your attention. The name fits the story. Slade was a f*****. Well, at least at the beginning. And slowly he showed his other side, that caught Cassies attention. It was entertaining to watch how Cassie and Slade gone from animosity to friendly neighbours to friends and then added benefits. I think there is something about the rumours, that this two houses brings couples together. But despite that they entertained me, I also... Well, I can't name it. It wasn't exactly irritation or annoyance. But I couldn't help but snort and roll my eyes every time at Slade and Cassie, when they played 'lie to yourself' game. They so often denied their growing feelings, it wasn't even funny. But what was funny, that they played 'it's just fun' game, while all their actions were something more, something special. Maybe me looking from outside, was why I could see it. And I guess, what they both went through their lifes affected their view on love, marriage and all about it. But also it's sad that they would give up reaching theirs dream just because of the first stone on their path. Well, I guess then they were lucky that they got magic houses, that somehow, someway made them to see magic in love.
