Excerpt:

A ruthless determination emanated from the man carrying her up the stairs, three at a time, as easily as though she weighed no more than a feather. His heartbeat thundered in her ear as erratically as her own and his arms tightened around her, when she wriggled closer into the warmth of his skin, not able to stop her instinctive need to lick his chest.

The scent and very essence of Ion exploded on her tongue. Need slamming into her, all thoughts of injuries fled her befuddled brain, when Ion pinned her against the wall, the minute they reached the safety of the bedroom.

He slid her down his naked body with infinite slowness and they groaned in unison when his rock-hard erection made brief contact with her groin on the way down. Marnie couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. She was locked in the prison of Ion’s arms, every cell in her body craving his touch. Her knees buckled when he sniffed her neck, inhaling deeply. One of his thighs, between her legs, stopped her descent and his wolf’s grumble vibrated through her, causing more moisture to seep through her soaked thong. He had to feel that! Heat rose in her cheeks, even as his cock seemed to grow bigger still, a hard shaft against her belly, setting her skin alight where it touched through the thin barrier of her summer dress.

Ion’s barely controlled growl in her ear was the most arousing sound she had ever heard. His delicious scent intensifying around her, she didn’t even try to stop the needy moan escaping on a shuddery breath of air.

“Ion, please.”

“What, little one?”

The rasp of his rough tongue along her sensitive neck stopped Marnie from being able to respond at all, as the friction his tongue created sent sparks of electricity dancing across her body. Every lick along her fevered skin pitched her arousal higher, until the whole world was centred on the next trail of friction along her jaw.  Her hips moved of their own accord, grinding her core into Ion’s roughened thigh, until the iron grip of his hands on her hips stopped her.

“Easy, little one. This will be so much better if we go slowly. I want to taste every inch of you, drink your cream and make you come again and again against my tongue and then, only then, my sweet will you feel my cock so deep inside you, you will never want to leave me.”

The hands on her hips softened, as Marnie froze. Shivers of excitement or fear or both, she couldn’t be quite sure which, danced along her spine at the images those growled words created. Her hands clung to his shoulders and she lost herself in his predatory smile, when she risked a glance up at his face. The eyes of his wolf were looking down on her and he crowded her further against the wall. Her breasts flattened against his chest and his thigh moved sinuously against her core.

“So wet, my little one. Tell me, is this bounty all for me?”

A renewed surge of moisture was his answer and his eyes darkened further. She could feel his claws slowly dragging along her sides as his hands wandered to her neck and he pulled back slightly, one hand cupping her breast through the fabric of her dress, whilst his head lowered and Marnie’s eyes fluttered closed in anticipation of his invasion.

The gentleness of the kiss that followed took her breath away. Not the harsh invasion she had been expecting, but a tender seduction of lips and teeth, coaxing her to open on a sigh. Ion slipped into that moan, his tongue exploring every part of her mouth with agonising slowness, whilst his hand on her nipple rubbed and teased, every roll sending shards of pure pleasure between her thighs. Desperate to take the kiss deeper, her tongue sought his, but every time she tried he withdrew with a muttered growl, shaking his head and the hand on her breast stopped its intimate massage.

“I told you, we’re taking this slow, little one. I have no wish to hurt you.”

“You won’t hurt me, Ion. Please, I need you.”

Something hot and dangerous flashed across his face at her whispered plea, the grip on her tightening for an instant. He smiled, the fangs of his wolf clearly visible, and Marnie held her breath at the struggle she sensed in him. The hand on her breast gripped the front of her dress and with one quick flick of his sharp claws the dress ripped, exposing her to his hungry gaze from the waist down. She sucked in her tummy on a shuddered moan as those menacing claws ran a trail over the soft skin of her abdomen, skimming the top of her thong with a feather touch, before he withdrew his claws and his fingers dipped under the elastic. His thigh spread her wider, as his fingers hovered over her clit and he resumed the kiss, his raspy tongue duelling with hers, until she thought she was going to dissolve into a sodden mess of drool and need.

His breathing was as heavy as hers when he finally pulled back, his eyes glowing in the darkness of the room.

“What makes you so sure I won’t hurt you. You’re such a little thing. You have no idea what my wolf could do to you.”

Marnie couldn’t breathe under the intensity of his fevered gaze. Of course she knew what he could do. Had she not seen his wolf in action mere minutes ago, about to rip Lucas to shreds? Terror slammed into her anew, not at Ion’s wolf, but at what could have happened to him, and she bit her lip so hard she could taste her own blood.

Ion released her with a muffled curse, all traces of his wolf gone. The flash of pain she saw in his eyes, before he turned his back on her, sliced straight through her heart.

“Good, I knew you’d come to your senses.”

Coffee Beans and Love Scenes Reviews

I so hope there is a second book. Doris O’Connor has me griped from this brilliantly written vampire/ werewolf book. Marnie has taken up pole dancing to help fund her law degree and one night a customer gets too rowdy and is thrown out of the club. When she’s attacked by the same guy walking home and wakes up bruised with no recollection things really start to heat up. Soon she is caught between the attention of a vampire and werewolf and the way she handles herself is pure class. I particularly was routing for Ion in this book. I loved the way he written. How he wanted to protect Marnie from himself and mating. This was a fantastic book that takes on a different theme between wolves and vampires and I would highly recommend it. I for one look forward to what Doris O’Connor writes next. Excellent work.

You Gotta Read Reviews

As a stripper, Marnie makes enough money to put herself through law school, but she has to question whether it’s worth it when one of her admirers takes things too far and gets himself murdered by yet another admirer. Then, to top it off, she finds out that vampires and werewolves are real! It’s almost more than a girl can handle in sexy stiletto heels. Lure of the Blood is fast paced, intense and sexy. The story is well written with only a few minor grammatical errors noted. The characters are memorable and sexy, the plot is somewhat familiar, but the twists and turns are enough to keep it interesting. Overall an excellent and enjoyable read.

Long And Short Of It Review
Written by undefined on 24th Apr 2012

Finding herself caught up in her own legal trouble was not how law student Marnie thought her day would end after working the pole at a local strip club. Fortunately, Marnie comes face to face with the man who will ultimately lead her to her destiny. But first she must accept that humans are not the only beings inhabiting this world and her boss is one of their leaders. I still found it an engaging read for the characters who claimed my attention from the start, although the story lacks fluidity and was a bit confusing with the lack of details and then again with short bursts of detail. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the growth of Marnie's inner feisty personality, the alpha wolf's personal struggle of the heart, and the arrogant vampire caving under the pressure of emotional connection. It wasn't clear what sort of relationship would be formed between Marnie and either of the male leads, but I definitely wanted to see which of these dominants came out on top. There were also a few secondary characters introduced in the later half who left me curious as to their full purpose and perhaps that will be an added enticement to reach for the next story in the series. Be prepared for lots of sexual tension with plenty of release and even a few surprising tender moments. There's much world-building potential in this story of paranormal beings hiding amongst humans and I am interested to see, which of the characters from this story will be carried forth into the next.

Sizzling Hot Book Reviews

Ion is club owner by night and alfa wolf-shifter by night. After Marnie is attacked, Ion takes her to his house where surrounded by his pack, they can keep an eye on her. Ion knows that Marnie is his soul-mate but he was cursed to fall in love with a human and end his blood line. Unless said human has ancent shifter blood, he is doomed to choose true love or giving his pack the next alfa. The more time he spends with Marnie the more he falls in love with her, and Ion knows what consequences his choice has. Lure of the Blood is a well told story. The writing is wonderfully detailed and flows well through the story line. Marie isn't shy with her sex-life in the book, and if you aren't shy reading about it then Lure of the Blood is definitely a great read for you. Reading about a very independent girl who isn't afraid to tell off a wolf or a vampire, makes for wonderful reading entertainment. If you like a good werewolf story, Lure of the Blood should be on your reading list.

I loved the characters! Marnie is a bundle of contradictions, she’s vulnerable and withdrawn but this ex-gang member knows how to hold her own. Oh and sexy alpha shifter, every time he mentioned his wolf rolling over and showing his belly to Marnie, well my heart melted a bit. The balance between humor, spice, spunk, and excitement was really well balanced. The writing style really puts me in mind of the Samba, it entrances while seducing all at the same time.

Marnie works as a dancer at Pleasures of the Night. She is used to lewd hot looks, but night after night a man sits in the shadows and watches her. She can never see him but knows he is there. One night leaving the club she is attacked by a drunken customer. She is saved by none other than her shadow man. Only a human couldn’t have made the sound she could have sworn he made. Her savior's name is Lucas! However when she wakes up the next morning, she has no memory of him. When she learns of the killing by her work, she goes to her boss Ion to see if she can help! Ion her boss is more than just a man, he is a wolf! And when he sees Marnie all battered and bruised it awakens his protective instincts. He had always wanted her, but has kept his hands off as she is his employee. But now things have changed. Marnie is about to be introduced to things that go bump in the night, and to a pleasure that no human can possibly handle. Will she choose pleasure or will she choose to walk away! Ms. O'Connor has done a great job of introducing a strong female lead, who is feisty and can hold her own. Imagine having two super-hot supernaturals after you, only wanting to please you! Ion is the wolf who is hot and sexy and made all the right way. But because she is human he shy's away from her. But passion cannot be denied and it makes for some great sex scenes. Great job creating the love triangle and the ending! Well done!!!!

Just Erotic Romance Reviews
Written by L.T. Blue on 20th Dec 2011

Marnie can feel the intense stare of the man sitting in the back. Working in a pole dancing club, Marnie is used to the looks of the men that watch her dance, but this man was different. Marnie knows that she can go to the boss, Ion, to have the male removed, but she looks forward to his visit. Marnie makes the decision to walk home which starts a series of event that would change the world as she knows it. Marnie will have to make decisions that may bring about her death. Ion will go to great lengths to make sure that Marnie is not harmed, even if he has to use his old friend Lucas to help out. Lure of the Blood is a paranormal novel with a few twists. The story captured my interest in the first chapter, yet I found myself confused as Marnie continued on her journey then towards the end of the story, my interest picked up once again. While I enjoyed both Lucas and Ion's characters, I found the double Alpha power was a bit too much and overwhelming. Marnie has all of the feistiness that I enjoy seeing when sparring with an Alpha and anyone else that gets in her way. There is so much sexual chemistry and heat throughout this story. The actual sex between Marnie and Ion is very hot and intense and constant. There is also a sexual encounter with Marnie and Lucas that will leave you hot and bothered expecting more. There are quite a few secondary characters that are needed to move the storyline. While I didn't enjoy the plot of Lure of the Blood as much as I wanted, it was still a very good story.

The characters in this are hot and vibrant. You cannot help but get hooked once you start reading, the next thing you know you have burned the dinner and the sun has set.... what more can I say! This was a real find. I was snooping for something new and took a chance on this and... WOW. The writing style is fluid, the pace is just right and im sad its finished ;-(. Now all I have to do is wait for the next one this author has coming up... cant wait!
