Disaster of the Otherworld, 1

Brandon is the werewolf alpha of the Northern Forest Pack. He’s looking for a mate with the same strength as him to lead his pack through the dark times they are about to face. Never did he anticipate to mate with an innocent human female.

Elle Smith moved to Grace Hill after a vampire attack almost killed her family. After she turns twenty-one her life is changed forever. Brandon bites her as she’s working at the diner, declaring her his mate. She can’t believe it's happening and refuses him.

However, the pull of the mating can’t be denied. Elle seeks him out even though she can’t bear to look him in the eye. Brandon will do anything to keep his woman safe. As Grace Hill becomes the home to many dangerous paranormal beings, Brandon pretends another is his mate.

Hurt, Elle shuts him out. Has Brandon lost his only chance of a mate? And what threat from her past could send Brandon to possible war?

Their world has never been more fragile as a cult known as Disaster of the Otherworld intends to plunge them into chaos.

Excerpt:

Elle looked really cute when she was angry. Brandon couldn’t help but be charmed by her. Her arms were folded underneath her impressive rack. He wanted to turn her around so he could watch her lose her temper.

“Then why don’t you tell me what the problems are?” he asked.

She turned to him. Her hazel eyes glanced into his gaze but then stared past his shoulder. He frowned. Why didn’t Elle ever look him in the eye?

“You’re old,” she said.

“What?” he asked, struggling to contain the roar inside him.

“I’m only twenty-one, but you’re what? Fifty or something. You’re old.”

He glared at her, angry at her words. Her hands shook as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Yes, he was nearing over fifty in age, but he looked no older than thirty. Werewolves and most of the sectors in the paranormal community aged slowly when they grew into their powers or ability. Witches were known for being thousands of years old but not looking a day over twenty-five.

Running a hand down his face, he waited for her to continue.

“I don’t know you.”

“I’m Brandon, your alpha of the Northern Forest pack.”

“I’m not part of the pack. I’m also human. I’m not a wolf, and I’ll never be a wolf.” She glanced down at her bandaged wrist. He followed her gaze. “Unless, the movies are right and I can be turned from your bite.”

He smirked. “The movies are wrong. You’re not going to turn into a wolf.”

“Good. I don’t think I could handle that.” One of her hands went to her neck. He watched the movement wondering what the problem was.

“What else?” he asked.

“Besides age, human, and our general lack of knowledge about each other?”

He nodded.

“I guess you can add the fact you have no respect for human women to the mix.”

Brandon turned his gaze back to her at her last comment. “What?”

“I’ve seen the way you treat human women, and the same goes for the men of your pack. You don’t give a shit about us. You use us and then throw us away like trash. You only treat your pack females with respect.”

Feeling his anger tighten, Brandon took a step away. Her scent followed him regardless.

“The excuses you give are pointless,” he said.

“Pointless?”

“Yes, pointless. You’re my mate, Elle. You’ve got to accept that.”

“I don’t have to accept anything from you. I’m not your mate. I don’t feel anything for you.”

He’d seen her hard nipples and scented her creamy pussy. Her mind might not like being mated to him, but her body loved it. Closing the distance between them, Brandon pressed her against the wall.

“You don’t feel anything for me?” he asked.

She shook her head. Her eyes were wide as she looked at him.

“I’ve heard some things about you, Elle. I know you’ve not been with another male, and you don’t have a reputation for putting out either.” He lifted his hand against her face. Brandon relished the feel of her soft skin against his palm. She moaned as he stroked her cheek then moved down to her neck. Her pussy beat rapidly against his hand. Moving his hand down to her breast, Brandon stroked the tight bud.

Elle gasped. Before he did anything else, he moved his hand down to the edge of her skirt. The dress uniform stopped above her knee. Brandon lifted the dress up and then placed his palm against her hot pussy. The panties she wore were soaking wet.

She cried out, and her hands gripped his arms as he moved the fabric of her panties aside for him to explore her tender flesh. Her slit was soaked with her cream. Her clit was swollen. He pressed a thumb against her bud.

“Look at me,” he said.

Her gaze turned to him for a split second before going over his shoulder. Snarling at her insolence, Brandon pressed his face against her neck. He inhaled her strawberry and vanilla scent as he stroked her pussy. Her legs shook, and he wrapped an arm around her waist that kept her upright.

His cock was thick in the jeans he wore. All he desired to do was push his jeans down and thrust his dick deep inside her tight little cunt. Using two fingers he stroked her swollen nub. Her arousal filled the room. The musky scent of her cream soaked his fingers.

Brandon brought her to orgasm as he sucked on the flesh of her neck.

Her screams echoed off the walls and filled him with pride, knowing he’d been the one to bring her to orgasm.

Elle collapsed against him, her heavy breathing the only sound he could hear.

“I’ve got you,” he said.

Romancing the Book
Written by Crystal on 15th Jul 2014

Well that is a whole new thing when you talk about Elle. She has tried her best to stay out of the alpha’s way and do her job. She thinks about moving to the city and get away from everything if only her friend would come with her. She even skipped the 21 birthday party that the pack has for everyone. She was just at work one day when she is jerked out of the kitchen to go and see the Alpha. Imagine her surprise when he moves so fast, says that she is his and bites her. Brandon doesn’t think he will ever see his mate and have the love that other couples in the pack has. He has a woman that wants to marry him but he only wants her for one thing and she doesn’t make his life easy. Brandon can’t believe that when he is just in the same restaurant that he suddenly scents his mate and it turns out to be Elle. Seems he had felt something when she was 16, when she first came to town. I love and enjoy every book that this author writes. I will have to say that she is one of my favorite authors. When she writes there is just some magic that she puts in her writing that makes me want to read everything by her and then start all over. This story just seemed so real to me and I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. If you love books about Alpha males that thinks they know how to handle everything and then find out that they are wrong and admit it then this is the book for you. The love between these two was slow but it needed to be. Neither really knew their true feelings or what the other thought. I will say that there are some vampires and witches in this story.

Night Owl Reviews

Brandon the alpha of the Gracehill pack is an ass. He doesn't like humans, doesn't respect humans and thinks fate is punishing him because he finally finds his mate and she turns out to be a human. Elle wants nothing to do with the alpha, she is sweet and innocent and really doesn't want to be mated to him, but once he enters her life it changes completely. With Brandon thinking so little of humans but finding himself falling for Elle we see a different side of him. He's selfish but thinks he's doing it for her safety. When he finally realizes what they have, is it too late? The Alpha Takes a Mate has an interesting cast of characters. This story flowed well and made me hope there is going to be a second. I want to read Lewis' story.

Long and Short of it Reviews
Written by undefined on 11th Aug 2013

The Alpha Takes a Mate is the first book in a very promising new paranormal series from Sam Crescent. The author did an outstanding job on this book. She did an excellent job in setting up this intriguing series, by giving readers this superbly entertaining story to start things off right. For its short length, this book is exceptionally well written. Right away, it grabbed my attention with an evocative premise, multi-dimensional characters and loads of romantic conflict. This book held me captivated, so much that I could not put it down, ending up reading it in just one sitting. Brandon is the Alpha werewolf of the Northern Forest Pack, and the big kahuna in the town of Grace Hill. He controls everything there, letting few humans into his town. Those that are allowed to live amongst the wolves are sworn to secrecy about the paranormal creatures existence. The story opens with Brandon unexpectedly finding his mate. *Gasp !* The mate he has longed to find is Elle, a human girl, not one off his own kind like he had hoped for. It was obvious that Brandon didn’t have much respect for humans. Not that it kept him from immediately following his instinct and claiming his mate. He bites her right there in the middle of the local diner. Elle and her family were granted sanctuary in Grace Hill after a vicious vampire attack that almost killed her mom and damaged Elle in some way. She doesn’t like the way the male wolves treat the human women like toys, so she has kept her distance from them. So she is completely shocked at being dragged before the Alpha, and having him stake his claim by biting her. He arrogantly declares that they are mated, but Elle’s not so sure she wants any part of him. It’s no wonder she resisted, what with all the mixed signals the guy kept sending her. Now, Brandon ruffled my feathers with his attitude about Elle. Don’t get me wrong, he wanted her. He seduced her. He was possessive and wanted to protect his mate. The kind of alpha male that we all love, right ? Yet the entire time, he kept thinking she wasn’t good enough for him. I couldn’t believe some of the big jerk’s inner monologue. What had he done to deserve a fate like this ? A human mate had to be retribution for something. Gah !!! He needed to get over himself. The story grows even more intriguing as revelations are made, prophecies are foretold and war looms on the horizon. Brandon must win back his mate, or risk losing everything. Yet, even as he is groveling, trying to make amends, the big jerk is still spouting his same old song. Right to her face he tells her – “Wolves are so much more than humans”. Then there was my favorite one yet- “I don’t blame you for your lack”. At this point I really had to wonder if the author wanted me to hate him. Don’t we all love to the hate alpha jerks ? I gotta say, it never fails to make the story more entertaining to this reader. So now on to the juicy part – the love scenes. The sex was steamy. Brandon and Elle had great chemistry, and no doubt, Sam Crescent knows her way around an erotic scene. Yet the author didn’t push any boundaries with this one. The lovers explored with some light bondage, loads of oral, interesting positions and a bit of anal play. Not as kinky as I’ve known this author to get, but it’ll get your motor running, if that’s what you’re looking for. I really enjoyed this book. That’s right, I loved the drama, and how my hero was a bad boy that had to be redeemed. I was giddy with excitement as Brandon faced his reckoning. I was easily caught up in this compelling world, wanting to know more about all the fascinating characters that I met. The plot was interesting, taking some twists and turns here and there. The series only promises to grow more intriguing, as a common thread is revealed that I’m sure will span the arc of the entire series. The story was fast paced, with never a dull moment where you find yourself wanting to skim the pages. There were too many things happening that I definitely didn’t want to miss. The supporting characters were all interesting, I wanted to know more about them all. Lewis and Layla ….got something going on there. Alaric the Alpha Bear and Alexander the enigmatic Vampire leader. Crazy Lizzy the seer witch was a hoot. See, I’m already hooked …. I want to read all of their stories …. and you know I will. The Alpha Takes a Mate was a great read and a fantastic addition to the paranormal genre. I loved it, enjoyed every page, every scene, every word, every emotion. I suggest that most paranormal readers will enjoy it as well. So I’m calling this one a recommended paranormal read.

Interesting!
Written by Angie on 29th Jul 2013

I found this interesting and different than other shifter stories. I enjoyed how all of the paranormals were banding together to stop an attack. Brandon was a little standoffish, but Elle really came through and proved to him that she was tougher than he thought. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!!
