Romance on the Go ®

Thirty year-old lawyer, Blake Aster gazes from his high-rise office window wondering if this summer he’ll find love, but deep inside he doubts anyone will ever want him again. He can’t forget the scar he has running the length of his face.

Hunky, daring, Alex Ryan is cleaning the building windows. Struck by the mythical beauty in Blake’s office, Alex sets out to get the other man's attention. Maybe a striptease outside Blake’s eighth floor window will do the trick.

Be Warned: m/m sex

Excerpt:

“I’m leaving early today, Kathy. You can forward any urgent calls to my cell phone.”

“Sure thing, Blake. Say, who was that gorgeous young man visited you today?”

Blake heard the smile in her voice.

“The window cleaner.”

Kathy gave a short laugh. “Blake, you only need say mind your own business to me…”

Blake ended the call. He slipped his laptop into his bag and stood. He grabbed up his jacket and slung it over his shoulder. As he passed Kathy’s desk he grinned at her.

“He really is the window cleaner.”

Blake called at the store on his way home and bought salad ingredients and steak. He hadn’t said come for dinner to Alex, but he’d have some ready in case the guy hadn’t eaten. A smile kept tweaking at the corners of his mouth as he drove home. Alex is good for me. It’s not just the sex, although that’s insane, it’s his happy-go-lucky manner. He’s fun.

At exactly eight o’clock Blake’s doorbell rang. Blake’s heart leapt and nervousness made him tremble a little as he went to answer.

Alex stood in the foyer with a smile on his face, but it wasn’t his handsome face that widened Blake’s eyes with desire. Alex wore a black suit, expensively cut, and it fit him so well, Blake’s breath caught. He gazed at Alex. “Wow, you look amazing.” He froze in admiration for a few moments and then returned the smile. “Come in, Alex.”

Alex walked past him as Blake opened the door wider.

Blake savored his broad shoulders and the way his hard ass was obvious under the vent at the back of his jacket. A delicate scent of designer cologne added to the sexy entrance Alex made. Blake closed the door.

Alex stood in the hall and waited for Blake. His eyes filled with affection as he gazed at Blake.

Blake soaked up the sight. He went to Alex and pushed his arms around Alex’s neck. He rested his forehead on Alex’s. “We fit together well this afternoon. Hell, you smell good.”

Alex gripped Blake’s hips and dragged him against his body. “You feel good. Kiss me.”

Blake couldn’t help the smile that spread on his face. He kissed Alex softly trying not to smile.

Alex laughed. “You’re happy to see me.”

Blake rained kisses on Alex’s lips. “Yes.” He whispered between them. He drew away. “Hey, have you eaten dinner?” He led the way into the living room.

Alex followed him. “I didn’t get the time, but I’m okay.”

Blake turned to him. “Eat with me. I made some dinner.”

“You made dinner? Wow, I’m being spoiled.”

Blake brought him to the table. “It’s only steak and salad. Take a seat.”

Alex shook his head grinning. “No way you’re serving me dinner. I’ll help.”

Blake was already around the archway into the kitchen and Alex caught him up.

“The plates are hot and so’s the steak. It’s rested a few seconds. I’ll bring the plates and you bring the salad bowl.”

Alex waited until Blake put the plates on the table. He placed the salad close by.

“Do you want some wine or anything?”

“I’d take a beer if you have one, thanks.”

“This time sit down, Alex, I’ll get us a beer.” When Blake returned with two frosty bottles, Alex sat quietly waiting. Blake handed him a beer and sat nearby. He’d set the table so that they sat at a corner and were closer than if they’d sat opposite each other. Blake smiled. “Hope it’s edible.”

Alex cut a piece off the steak and tasted it. “It’s delicious. You can cook … a steak anyway.”

Blake grinned. “I don’t cook much to be honest. I generally pick up something from a restaurant that does take out. A few good ones do.”

Alex ate quietly for a few moments.

Blake ate a few bites. “Where do you live, Alex?”

“West village.” Alex supplied the answer as if automatically, and then his expression changed. His eyes held anxiety.

Blake studiously ignored it and didn’t comment, but he wondered how a guy who cleaned windows for a living could afford an apartment or house there.

The idea of a lawyer flirting with the window cleaner outside the high-rise where he works is fun, and their story is as entertaining as it is short. Both Blake, a lawyer with self-confidence issues due to a facial scar, and Alex, a hunky man with more than one secret, are interested in each other, but there are a few (minor) obstacles to overcome before they can figure out if the white-hot attraction that lets them fall into an immediate physical relationship will lead to more. Both men are looking for love, so I was hoping for the best as I read about their various encounters. Blake has a scar from a vicious attack, and he can’t believe anyone, never mind Mr. Super Hunky, would ever be interested in him again. Alex has a few secrets and a “hobby” that isn’t exactly conducive to a relationship with a lawyer, but he also has a few options about dealing with the choices he has made so far. Lucky for both men, they quickly feel more than physical attraction. The whirlwind romance that follows their lust-laden first encounters has both of them changing their lives in the best way. If you like your romances fast and furious, if you believe deep affection can grow from purely physical attraction, and if you’re looking for a read that is short, fun, and has two lonely men finding happiness with each other, then you might like this short story.

Adored it.

4.5* As soon as he sees “his Beast” through a window, Alex is on a mission – he wants him for his own, but his Beast is a lawyer and Alex has some dubious non-legal secrets……. My original intention was just to read a few pages, get a feel for the book and go back to it later. The reality? I was hooked within the first two pages and practically read it though in one sitting. E.D. Parr got the perfect mix of hot sexy loving and the sweetness which I always associate with her storylines. It’s certain insta-lust if not insta-love when Alex spies Blake through the high rise office block window that he is cleaning. That scar marking Blake’s face is not only rakish but alluring as well, Alex wants to lick it and kiss it. Hanging above all those people below him rushing around, an enticing mini striptease seems to be a good idea and if Blake appreciates it? Game on. And the game was on because even with his own insecurities over his facial scarring, Alex calls to Blake on levels that he no longer knew existed anymore. They say that your past has a way of coming back to you and the case that Blake is working on, could very well be linked to Alex’s dubious “sideline”. When Blake mentions that the past-is-the-past and he’s not interested in hearing about ex-boyfriends etc., Alex takes “etc” to include his “sideline”. Maybe Blake will never need to know what Alex has been doing? But is his love for Blake stronger than his need for revenge? Read to find out……… This was just perfect for my Sunday afternoon reading, yes I wish it was that little bit longer to fill in a couple of little gaps in the storyline, but so enjoyable none the less. Highly recommended.

This smoking hot, sweet, and engaging story may be short in length, but it definitely packs quite a delicious punch.
