Forgotten Rebels MC, 1

When she was eighteen, Piper’s obsessed boyfriend murdered her family right in front of her. She went into police protection, but his family’s wealth made it easy for him to track her down. Desperate and alone, she turned to her step-brother for help. He just happened to be president of a motorcycle club.

Eight years later, the club is patched into a larger club, the White Death MC, and when Piper meets its president, Kix Rockwood, she knows he’s a force to be reckoned with. Kix wants her, but he has no idea about the danger that lurks for her if she leaves the club. Because no matter how long it’s been, someone blames Piper for what happened and wants revenge for the past.

Excerpt:

Wait,” came a deep voice.  “I thought I met all the club girls.”

Piper halted and glanced over to the opposite end of the table.  Her gaze met a pair of eyes so green it made her think of emeralds.  They were framed with the type of dark lashes that women would kill to have.  His black hair flopped a little over his forehead, and scruff outlined a strong jaw.   Next to his left eye was a small tattoo, a black diamond.  The man was big, muscular, and he stared at her like he wanted to devour her.  Butterflies swarmed through her belly and her mouth went dry.  Piper tried to wet her lips with her tongue, but didn’t have enough saliva to do the job.

She’s not club pussy, Kix,” Wick said evenly.

Kix flicked his gaze toward her brother.  “Is she your old lady?”

Wick shook his head.  “My sister.

Kix visibly relaxed.  “I see.”  He looked at her once more.  “What’s your name?”

Im Sissy,” Piper said.  “I take care of the house.”

Sissy,” he repeated, then frowned.  “That name doesn’t seem to suit you.”

She cleared her throat.  “It’s what I’m called.”

And we’re all called something, aren’t we, sweetheart?”

The men of The White Death chuckled and she pulled her gaze away from Kix to look at the newcomers.  Parky had been correct.  Each man was gorgeous, a far cry from the current Rebels stock.  The Brothers might be family, but some of them had a face only a mother could love.

“Whose old lady are you?” Kix asked.

She lifted her chin.  “I’m no one’s old lady.

He gave a wicked little grin.  “Good,” he murmured.

A fun and quick read
Written by Michele G on 1st Jan 2023

I like to read a wide variety of genres and MC romances are one of my guilty pleasures. I went into this one a little apprehensively when I saw how short it was. I shouldn't have worried because this author managed to write a solid story in less than one-hundred pages. So much so that I look forward to reading more in this series. Piper has lived through life altering trauma when a former boyfriend murdered her family in front of her. After hiding out with her step-brother and his motorcycle club for eight years, she may have finally met someone that she can open her heart to. The problem is that Piper still carries guilt over her the loss of her family and the responsibility she feels for it. Basically, she doesn't believe she deserves to live a full life. Kix is the president of a larger motorcycle club that Piper's stepbrother's club has just affiliated with. He's always been happy on his own with random women here and there but lately he's had no interest. Then he meets Piper and everything changes. He finds that he can't get her out of his mind. But she carries a sadness about her and he's determined to know who or what caused it. Then he's determined to make her his. This was a fun and quick read that satisfied my need for a little motorcycle club escapism. In addition, there's some good setup for the next book so I'll definitely be checking it out. Thanks to NetGalley for this complimentary reader's copy. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

Unbroken
Written by Angela F on 11th Oct 2022

I really enjoyed Unbroken by Beth D. Carter and thought it was a great start to a new series. Piper was a great character. She was resilient, strong, and even though she was in hiding at the MC she was independent, taking on the role of cook and having her own space while still being a part of the club. She didn't judge the members or the club girls. I found her really likeable and I liked that any flip flopping that went on with her decisions never lasted for long. Kix was also great. He mostly sticks to the typical alpha MC leader, but also shows respect for Piper and the fears she has. One of the other things I really liked was the way Piper's stepbrother Wick was handled. There was a lot of opportunity for him to be a big obstacle in Piper's relationship with Kix but Carter writes him as more 3-Dimensional than that. He has his concerns for Piper's choice to get involved with Kix and some over protectiveness, but ultimately he shows that he trusts her ability to choose her partner and let's her know that he's there for her whatever happens. This was my first time reading anything by Carter and I'm looking forward to checking out her other works.

I really enjoyed this book!
Written by Amanda K on 11th Oct 2022

I do wish that the book would have been longer and not so rushed so that I could have gotten more of Piper and Kix and of Piper and her stepbrother. I really liked Piper and I love how she tough she is despite everything that she went through. For a quick, short read, I loved it! Thank you to NetGalley and Evernight Publishing for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

An emotional story
Written by Michelle C on 13th Sep 2022

This was an emotional story. The heroine experiences so much loss at such a young age I really admired the woman she grew into. I loved the way the hero “saw” her and didn’t hesitate. My only wish is that we got more of their story together.

I was hooked
Written by Doris B on 19th Aug 2022

Family Protection This was a quick MC read that told the story of a young woman being stalked and then witnessing the brutal murder of those close to her. She ran into hiding with her step-brother Wick who was a member of the Forgotten Rebels MC and was determined to keep her safe behind the club’s walls. She lived a secluded life and stayed to herself but when the club was going to patch over with White Death MC things were about to change for her especially with their club Prez, Kix, taking notice of her. I was hooked on this book all the way through and have to say I’d look forward to reading more from this author.

ARC Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley for an honest opinion. Piper and Kix give us some great MC romance to keep us on our toes. An exciting mystery and love story. Piper is running from her family's killer, and Kix is determined to keep her safe at all costs.

A quick read
Written by Andy S on 1st Aug 2022

I really enjoyed this novella and ended up reading it all in one setting. This is a quick read. When Piper's life fractures, she has nowhere to turn except to her step-brother and his motorcycle club. She has to give up her past, and her future is forever changed. Piper has suffered survival guilt for so long, she doesn't feel she deserves a HEA. Good thing Kix is persistent and strong enough to shoulder some of her pain. Piper and Kix have good chemistry and a balanced relationship. I'm not a huge fan of insta-love situations, but it works OK here. My only complaint is that it’s too short. A few more pages to wrap everything up. I wanted to see Piper and Kix settled into their relationship. Thank you, NetGalley and Evernight Publishing, for providing me with a digital ARC for an honest review.

Piper’s childhood was crushed from the crazed actions of the spoiled rich Tyler. In an effort to find peace she escapes to her stepbrothers MC and her life gets flipped upside down and the “bad guy” you were told to avoid as a child actually turns out to be the hero? Kix is the president of his MC and used to getting what he wants. The attraction between Piper and him is red hot, instantaneous, and shockingly sweet. Never would I have expected a tough biker to be so sweet but they complemented each other so well, age difference none the less. This book was definitely not what I was expecting, but in a good way. It’s a quick, soft MC romance (so a good introduction if you’re new to MC books); with lots of heat, and a menagerie of bikers that leave me wanting to hear more about. And the fact that the “good guy” is not your typical hero is even better. This is my first book by this author but a good one, just hoping for a little more length in the next one. 4 stars . I voluntarily read and reviewed an arc copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Obsessed. This book was so good. My only complaint is that it’s too short. I want more Piper and Kix. I also need to hear more about Abbott and Wick. Also, Heart- I need to know more about him. These characters are amazing Pipers strength is incredible Kix protection instincts are so strong Wick also has those protective instincts and shows he cares I can’t wait to read more from this author

Not a long read m, this book nevertheless manages to give a nice storyline as well as a great set up for the next book (looking forward to Wick and Abbott!) Piper dates the wrong guy and it comes back to haunt her badly so she seeks refuge with her step brother. I love how her relationship with Wick wasn’t painted as this picture perfect one and a nod was made to how hard they found it in the early years of her hiding before coming to the place they are now. Piper really doesn’t know what to do about her feelings for Kix, and to be fair he doesn’t know what to do about her either beyond wanting her. Piper feels like she doesn’t deserve happiness and I like how Kix helped her realise she didn’t need punishing and should forgive herself

I'm giving this four stars, but to be clear it's because I knew going in it was a novella and my expectations were set accordingly. I wasn't sure what to expect with this once since it's an older release that popped up on NetGalley so I decided to ARC it since it's not available in Kindle Unlimited and it's priced way more than I would ever pay for a book under 100 pages, and the blurb very much intrigued me. I definitely enjoyed this one - you have to be a fan of insta-love and mc romances, but if you do like either than this is a nice, quick enjoyable read. There were some funny word choices here and a funny use of "one per center" instead of "one percenter" which are entirely different things with different meanings and left me with a good laugh. That being said, I loved the angst you feel when reading this and the chemistry between Piper and Kix. I'd definitely be up for trying another one of her books, but only if priced appropriately, but from what I can see most of her books are overprices for their length, which is a huge bummer.

Thank you NetGalley and Evernight Publishing for my copy for Unbroken. Really really enjoyed this and could not put it down. I loved Pipper and Kix's relationship and how it felt very natural. Also did not see that twist coming. Ready on my way to continue the series and see what's going on for the club.

The Romance Reviews
Written by Rachel's Willful Thoughs on 25th Jan 2016

Eight years ago, a frightened Piper sought refuge with her brother and his motorcycle club. It's not until she sets eyes on Kix, the leader of another club, that she begins to think about her future. With UNBROKEN, author Beth Carter launches the first installment in the Forgotten Rebels series. It's raw, steamy and full of some unexpected plot twists. With the growth of the MC genre, it is always enjoyable to see writers put a different spin on the storyline. Ms. Carter's perspective is fresh not only in the characters she has developed, but in the series concept. There's a definite incentive to continue with the series in order to find out more about Wick and Abbott. This series provides a look into the lawless world of the MC, but zeroes in on the fact that loyalty knows no boundaries. There's plenty of the typical partying and cutting up, all of which takes a backseat to the intense chemistry between Kix and Piper. Although he might not ever be considered a good guy by traditional standards, Kix's motorcycle is just as good as a white horse. I found this to be a fantastic beginning to a series focusing on people with a lot of baggage from the past. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/viewbooksreview.php?bookid=20359#sthash.KJADQXoz.dpuf

At eighteen, Piper’s world came crashing down when her crazy and obsessive boyfriend gunned down her family when they attempted to stop him from trying kidnap her. With police protection, Piper thought she was safe. But with his family’s wealth, he was able to find her. The only person she has left to seek help from is her brother and his brothers of the Forgotten Rebels MC. For the last eight years, Piper has hidden behind the walls of the MC. But when the club is patched into a larger club, the White Death MC, her days of hiding are over. From his very first glance at Piper, Kix Rockwood, the president of the White Death MC, knows one thing — that Piper will be his. He has no idea of the danger that surrounded her so long ago or what could happen if she leaves the club. Someone is still out there seeking their revenge on Piper and they aren’t about to let her get away alive. The very talented pen of author Beth D. Carter starts off a new series that really grabs the reader’s heart and soul right from the beginning. Danger, heartbreak and salvation meld perfectly with an emotionally powerful romance that is almost impossible to put down. The author allows the reader to experience Piper’s life before and after her family was murdered and her place within the Forgotten Rebels MC as well as the anguish and guilt she lives with, giving them a better understanding of her personality. She is a strong woman and it will take an equally strong man to love and honor her like she deserves. Right from their very first meeting, the sexual pull and temptation draws you irresistibly into Kix and Piper’s undeniable and immediate attraction. While Kix and Piper’s relationship feels like an instant kind of love and passion, where they move quickly from first glance to Piper leaving behind the club for Kix and his, might seem a little hasty, the author makes their bond seem natural and true. The searing sex is smoking hot as Kix claims Piper’s heart, body and soul with enough heat to practically singe the pages. The author throws a couple of unexpected and dangerous twists into the story that the reader doesn’t see coming. The story wraps up rather nicely and Ms. Carter cleverly baits the reader grabbing their interest at the next book to come ensuring they will be eagerly awaiting the next in this captivating series.

Night Owl Reviews
Written by Chris on 29th Dec 2015

I really enjoyed the relationship between Kix and Piper, but it went at warp speed to be sure. The book was front loaded with Piper’s absolutely horrific experiences that drove her into the land of motorcycle clubs and hiding her identity within the walls of her stepbrother’s club. Then we flash to eight years later. When Kix shows up Piper is no longer a girl but a woman. A sheltered woman even though she grew up in the strong sexual environment that is an MC. I had absolutely no problem believing her fear and anxiety concerning her stalker but absolutely could not believe no one kept tabs on him. Like ever. The author focused on Piper’s budding sexual awareness and Kix’s dramatic fall into love. Our Kix is a romantic, you see, and he shows that side with Piper only. He’s such a keeper. Piper was the more negative of the two, unwilling to leap without looking; a refreshing switch. The story bumped along nicely, but some details were doled out a little heavily and tipped me off on a few things; didn’t affect my enjoyment though. I will definitely be reading the second book with the big old teaser the author ended the book with.

Ms. Carter did an outstanding job with Unbroken, from the first chapter to the last I couldn't put it down. She did an excellent job capturing the guilt a trauma survivor feels and shows hope being born that Piper deserves her own happily ever after with Kix. I can't wait for Wick's story. If you are looking for an enjoyable evening read I highly recommend Unbroken it is worth your time spent. For transparency, I would like to add that I was provided a copy of Unbroken to read for my honest opinion.r

Family is everything
Written by Allison Gill on 1st Nov 2015

Book 1 in the Forgotten Rebels MC series After the first few lines in this book I was not expecting to like it. I don't normally like books that are set when the character is at school, but I have never not finished a book, so I read on. And on, until it was finished. It ended up being a late night for me.I just couldn't put it down. It's not set in a school setting but the story has to be told from there. It is there that Piper first finds out that there is no where for her to hide from an old boyfriend that does not understand the meaning of the word NO. No one can protect her - her mum, step dad, the police or the protection order she has against him. Her step brother is the only one who can keep her safe. Her welcome into the Forgotten Rebels MC gives her the chance to heal and find a kind of peace. Does she really deserve to be happy in life? Everyone thinks so but her. Life is about to test her all over again. Will she continue to fight for the life she wants? You'll just have to read it to see. The only reason this did not get 5 stars, is that every so often(not a lot) there was a silliness that just seemed out of place. Just a little bit of too young for what the character was portraying.

This book is very fast paced.... I gave it 4 stars because I loved the idea and most of the story... That being said I would have liked to see more emotion for certain situations that happened... The fast pace has its good and bad qualities, I usually get bored in books, so this helps it out, but... The bad side is I felt i was a missing the connection, I still really liked it though and will definitely read the next.….

A short fast paced story of family loyalty and revenge
Written by Sue B on 30th Oct 2015

This was a very fast read...one of those books that just keeps on moving and keeps you involved with the story and the characters. I have to say I was at first not sure how I would feel about this story since it is another one of many biker books where a rich guy is stalking a young woman and she is forced to run away to either her father or brother's club for protection...but after getting past that issue, I really appreciated that the characters behaved in a more mature way and kept things real. When Piper reaches out to her step-brother for help, he doesn't throw her into a bad situation nor does she get treated like a club whore (good so far) and when Kix arrives on the scene to merge the clubs, he turns out to be a bigger/better man than how he could have been written. Piper is surprisingly strong and fearless when it comes to Kix and the author didn't milk the whole "poor damaged girl" thing which gets annoying when you've read it too many times. A short novella with a few predictable moments but well written and a pretty entertaining plot that left me wanting more...wish it had been longer with a bit more details. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
