Hot Alpha Shifters - another favorite!
Written by Jacintha Topaz on 12th Apr 2018

Since the last ManLove anthology from Evernight [Men in Uniform], I couldn't wait to read the next one. It was through my familiarity with Gale Stanley's work that I even went for the previous read and found some new favorites to read (e.g., James Cox). So of course, when I saw that Stanley and Cox were both included in this anthology, let's say that I had high expectations and every one of them were met. This book is all about alpha shifters who find their mates. So the romantic endings I expected already won me over right there. Every story was fresh and well-told with developed characters packed tight with zero margin for error. In other words, every part of the story forwarded the plot and pulled you right into the character. Once I began the read, only the call of some shut-eye drew me away. I read the rest of the stories as soon as I could the very next day. BULLY BOYS by Nicola Cameron Story takes place in the UK. A numbers man meets an alpha wolf who is defending his territory by an encroaching rival pack. Of course, love is no obstacle--no, not for a man with administrative talents matched with a physically aggressive macho man. A sweet match between a guy in a suit and a guy from the ghetto. THE ALPHA'S ASSASSIN by Doris O'Connor So, this orphan whose occupation as a hired gun has been employed to take down the alpha. His job clashes with his heart when of all people he meets his mate. Both of them are confused because they're not of the same kind. Anyone up for interspecies dating? Edge of my seat - part suspense, part romance, part mystery. DISCARDED PUP by Angelique Voisen An alpha wolf takes the wrap for a crime committed by his beta so he could protect his spineless pack. It's release day, time for retribution. Meanwhile, the beta who has taken charge as the cruel default alpha hasn't deviated from his violent ways. His latest victim? Hmm, could that be the true alpha's mate? The future is bright. YELLOW EYES by Gale Stanley A half-breed has hidden in the shadows of human society far too long. An unexpected death sends him to the other side to explore his other half. None other than an alpha finds him... Heart-tugging story of self-love and acceptance with a big dose of hope for coexistence. DESTINED by L.D. Blakely Betrayed by an ex, Caleb tries to drink his woes away. Only he's quite sure the terror he witnesses right afterward isn't a dream. The only one who can save him is someone whom he doesn't quite trust... Shaky beginnings, sweet ending. TROUBLE by James Cox Kicked out (okay, chased out) of most packs for his philandering ways, Tremarc is the last of his particular species of shifter. He's sleeping around trying to figure things out and lands a one-way ticket to the moon, where he meets an alpha named Lyon and his mate Quinn. Little did the three know what Lyon's dreams had in store for them. Seductive M/M/M fantasy come to life. OUTLAW WOLF by Elizabeth Monvey Dekker is a runaway who chose to do so; he left his mate to protect him and the pack. For six months he'd been successful making a life for himself -- or so he thought -- until his alpha shows up to claim him back. All hell breaks loose when old traditions meet new truths, truths that will set them free. A story of second chances and fresh pathways forward. Overall, another winning collection of short stories from authors that are old and now new favorites. Go ahead and treat yourself GOOD with some BAD alphas. :-)

Bad Alpha Man Love Edition by authors Nicola Cameron, L.D. Blakely, James Cox, Elizabeth Monvey, Doris O’Connor, Angelique Viosen, and Gale Stanley has a little bit of everything in here. The first story is historical, or rather I think it is …never really says but reads like a turn of the century story. Bully Boys by Nicola Cameron, this one is the only one I felt was really well done but did not fit with this anthology. I like there to be something cohesive about my anthologies. All the rest of the stories are contempories. With a similar theme. This one is very well done but not a true reflection of all the other books to come. The characters are strong, and really well done. If not in this anthology I would truly love this first story all on its own. Arthur is an orphan raised by a maiden aunt. He is upper classed. And he has a promising career as a Junior Solicitor. Then he takes a turn down an alley and meets Gunner. He is having a skirmish with a local gang member. He ends up keeping Arthur who is his mate. I liked Gunner, rough around the edges, kind, fair, and pure alpha male. Now the next story I particularly found fascinating is Yellow Eyes by Gale Stanley. She is one of my favorite MM authors , and her story really caught my attention. We have Wyatt, gay alpha of his pack, who really thinks he is worthless and then there is Camden. Camden is shy, kind, takes care of the one person in the world who loves him. His mother. He has always hated his eyes were yellow. That is until he finds out more about himself and meets Wyatt. Together they learn to have confidence and love. I really would love to see this story expanded. Really is beautifully done. All the stories in this anthology have heart, soul, and really great writing. Some feel like snippets from the character’s lives and some will leave you wanting more. Over all this is a great way to meet some maybe new to you writers, and ready some short but amazing stories. Five Shooting Stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of stories. There were plenty of new to me authors and the stories here made me want to explore more of their work. None of these tales disappointed. My only complaint, they were too short.

Howling Hot Shape Shifter Tale
Written by Max Lemberger on 12th Apr 2018

Yellow Eyes-Gayle Stanley: In a post apocalyptic world where humans and werewolves continue to battle, an iconoclastic, gay alpha male shape shifter, Wyat and an orphaned, homeless half breed, Camden follow their animal instincts looking for belonging, commitment acceptance and love. When they finally connect, the author, Gayle Stanley, pours out enough savage M/M sex that you'll be howling at the moon.

Super-hot, larger than life Alphas!
Written by Anari on 12th Apr 2018

Who wouldn’t fall for an alpha shifter? And when these bad boys fall, you can hear the thud across town. The heroes in this collection are larger than life, and every story is a thrilling read. I enjoyed then all, but Yellow Eyes by Gale Stanley is one of my favorites. I’m a sucker for a guy with a gut-wrenching past, and the yellow-eyed half-breed had me teary-eyed. There’s something for everyone in this anthology and despite being short stories, each author created an intriguing world and setting for their characters. Well done!

Bad Alphas - It's 'Were' the Action's At!
Written by Kat on 12th Apr 2018

These seven stories truly run the gamut: from parallel reality where weres live among us in secret, to alternate reality where weres and humans coexist - unpeacefully - in a war torn land, to futuristic worlds where werebears make up some of the colonized moon's population. There remains one constant thread throughout each story: an über hot, gay alpha-were finding his life mate and fighting adversity to take what's his, by right. This was a very enjoyable and spicy-hot collection. Among my favorites were Gale Stanley's 'Yellow Eyes', about a lost, young half-breed finding himself and coming to terms with his were side, and Doris O'Connor's 'The Alpha's Assassin' about two alphas - a bear and a wolf - who fall for each other under the most unlikely conditions.

A Great Collection of Alpha badness and hot males
Written by Daria on 9th Sep 2015

Billy Boys Nicola Cameron I found myself laughing at the play by the oh so uppity little snob, and the hard dog from the other side of the tracks. It just worked for me a lot of fun to read. The Alpha's Assassin Doris O'Connor Wow, yep pretty easy, hot and sexy. When the fates pull, all you can do is follow, it matters what not breed, nor status. If you belong together, its a done da da. (grins). Loved the characters and their personalities. Discarded Pup Angelique Voisen. Revenge is always sweet, as it is usually a driving force. Take something that was that belonged to you enemy. Aw.. The young bitten was sure he thought what he wanted, the big guy..after taking his revenge he takes the pup and has no plans to keep him. Yellow Eyes.. When you a mixed what side to you belong on? Sometimes both sides are as dangerous as one. This lil half breed doesn’t want anything to do with either side his human or wolf nature. The sexy alpha will show him the errors of his thoughts. Destined by L D Blakeley A little old for that twink **it. Awesome line. Loved it. I do love male love, I am however not in the twink thing (smiles). Little human, devestated at catching his man and a DJ going for broke bent over a table. His night will get real busy real fast, The rough and gruff protector, wasn’t out looking, but he didnt have to be. It was already found for him. Trouble by James Cox This was just a cute fun story, like a energizer sex bunny. Poor baby has been to ever clan around, and booted out just for his love of sexing. (laughs) it doesn’t matter that well.. Some are mated and have other men, nope if its to be had, he’s getting is. Now being punished with being booted to a clan in outer space, will he do the same thing and cause trouble throughout the galaxy, or is it time for him to settle down?

Exquisite Reviews
Written by Karla on 30th Aug 2015

I am not a fan of anthologies because usually I feel lost reading them… they are either a novella from a series or not developed properly. With that being said I enjoyed this book, I think having the stories be M/M paranormal helped it move along quicker. Each story provided me with a different type of sub-genres; I think this is a great way to give readers a peak at some amazing writers. I enjoyed all the stories and liked all of the characters. I usually don’t like historical/old world stories but I did enjoy “Bully Boys” by author Nicola Cameron. I won’t give you spoilers but if you enjoy paranormal Manlove books then you will get your money’s worth from this anthology. My favorite story was “The Alpha’s Assassin” by author Doris O’Connor I loved Quinton and Zayden. I am definitely interested in reading more from the featured authors of this book. Discarded Pup by Angelique Voisen makes me want to buy everything she’s ever written; her characters are HOT and sexy. Yellow Eyes by Gale Stanley I enjoyed this story but did find some story flow issues and had to read certain sections again to make sure I understood what the author wanted to tell me as a reader. Destined by L.D. Blakeley this story was great and very well written, looking to read more from this author. Troubles by James Cox this story was hot and let’s face it who doesn’t love a threesome, I know I do. Outlaw Wolf by Elizabeth Monvey this story provided us with many emotions and I was amazed that author Elizabeth Monvey was able to pack the story with so much and in such a small work count. I give this book 4 diamonds for thoroughly entertaining me on my bus ride to New York… Get your copy at Amazon or Evernight Publishing.

The TBR Pile
Written by Laurie P on 25th Aug 2015

If you like your Alphas gruff, growly, snarly and super hot you need to read this anthology. Each story was so different from all the others and yet they all took you into the world of an uber alpha meeting his mate. I loved the variety of settings and shifters. Bully Boys –Nicola Cameron 4/5. This story, set in the past, had a Steampunk vibe to it. Loved that she used Staffordshire Terriers for her shifters. The Alpha’s Assassin – Doris O’Conner 5/5. One of my favorites. A bear shifter assassin’s target is an Alpha wolf, but oh, the wolf is his mate. Let the fun begin. Discarded Pup – Angelique Voisen 4/5. Wronged and jailed, an Alpha seeks revenge on his pack by taking the new alpha’s boy toy. Instead he finds his mate. Yellow Eyes – Gale Stanley 4/5. Alpha Wyat doesn’t want anything to do with humans or half breed, until he meets his half breed mate. Destined – L. D. Blakeley 5/5. This story had it all. There is some horror and some great humor. The human loses a boyfriend and finds a wolf mate instead. The banter between them is great. Trouble – James Cox 5/5. This was a fun ménage story about bear shifters. And a trip to the moon. I loved how the author turned the alpha pair into a trio. Outlaw Wolf – Elizabeth Monvey 5/5. The most emotional of the stories, it started off bittersweet. Dekker is willing to do anything for his Alpha. That including giving him up and going lone wolf. The authors wrote great, imaginative characters and all of the stories had plots that flowed smoothly. All of these authors know how to write smoking hot sex. I thoroughly enjoyed all of these stories.

Amazing!!

**I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review** Oh. My. God! This was one of the greatest anthologies I've ever read. I love MM stories! I love Alpha stories! I love shifters! I love assassins! I love HAWT sex! "Bad Alpha: Manlove Edition" has all of that and so much more! Some of my very favorite authors are included here. In fact, they're ALL some of my favorite authors. Check it out... Nicola Cameron Doris O'Connor L.D. Blakeley Angelique Voisen James Cox Gale Stanley Elizabeth Monvey You just know that it's going to be good! I'm not going to go into the ins and outs of every story. I'll just say that every one of them is just about perfect. I was completely captivated. In fact, I read this whole book in one sitting. Granted, it was a four hour sitting, but I just couldn't put it down. I kept saying to myself, "Just one more, and I'll go to sleep." I never went to sleep :-) All of the characters are vibrant, and all of the stories are exciting. You can guess from the title that they're anything but tender and sweet, and yet...there is something beautiful and romantic about that. I love primal MM love scenes...teeth and tongues clashing, hair being tugged, sweaty bodies grinding. It's funny, actually, because if you'd have told me a year ago that I'd be reading MM almost exclusively, I would have thought you were crazy. I've discovered some really great stuff out there, and as I said before, these particular authors have grabbed, and kept my attention. Treat yourself to this anthology. You won't be sorry, I promise!

It took me a good bit to realize that the story was indeed in ...
Written by InkedRainbowReads on 22nd Aug 2015

Bully Boys by Nicola Cameron - 3.5 stars I felt but line I was thrown into the middle of a story with this one. While we got to know a bit about one main character, we didn't really know much about the history of the shifters. It took me a good bit to realize that the story was indeed in the past, not present. While the plot was actually good, I wish we'd gotten to know more about the pack. Then there was the whole being gay side of things. Had the characters been with other people or had they been gay before each other? At the end of the story I felt like a lot was left unanswered and it could've been expanded out to a much longer story that was much more captivating as we got to learn about such a protective and amazing alpha. The Alpha's Assassin by Doris O'Connor - 4.5 Stars I really enjoyed this story. It was a bit scary at times, but super sexy and amazingly written at the same time. I couldn't get through it fast enough. I wanted to know what was going to happen with Quinton since he was supposed to be the one who took him out. Discarded Pup by Angelique Voisen - 5 Stars I think this was my favorite of the anthology or at least one of them. I loved the danger Cole radiated and the fear we felt from River as we waited to find out what Cole was going to do with him. It was hot, fast and I read it as quick as I could wanting to know how things turned out! Yellow Eyes by Gale Stanley - 4 Stars This was in a different time than the others and there were times where I didn't understand what had happened or that the shifters lived in a different part of the town than the others. However, I did like the beginning as we learned about this big strong man, however, as the book moved on, he turned into more of a weakling. However, other than that it was a good story. Destined by L.D. Blakeley - 5 Stars I found this story to have some funny bits (hello bar scene), but it was all so well written and had me wishing I could have a car to hide under (and yes, I was thinking it was Marick that had done the killing. Great story that I wished was longer! Trouble by James Cox - 5 Stars Oh yes, yes, yes... A male threesome! And some humor thrown in too. I loved the opening scene even if our main character is a bit of a slut (or a lot of one), but I liked the way the other two men wrangled him in and came together as a hot as sin threesome. Very well written that it didn't even seem odd to be off planet. Outlaw Wolf by Elizabeth Monvey - 5 Stars This was probably one of the more painful stories to read for me. It was sad to see that these two men had loved each other but couldn't be together due to prejudice. There was hate and anger that they had to deal with but in the end it was an excellent story that I LOVED the ending of. I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Inked Rainbow Reads.
