“Finish me,” the Lycan rasped.
Herleif looked around at the cheering crowd as they yelled for the man’s death. In that instance, he wanted to decimate the spectators, wipe them out for finding pleasure in his acts.
Seeing nothing or no one unusual, he kneeled, about to do something he’d never done before. Clasping his hands on either side of the warrior’s head, Herleif met his gaze. “Till Valhalla,” he whispered. Then snapped the man’s neck, giving him a quick death.
Herleif hung his head, letting his hands drop as he took a deep breath. For a brief moment, he tuned out the roar of the crowd and their gleeful delight over another kill, sending up a prayer for the shifter. He wasn’t especially proud that he’d ended the lives of many over the years, and now he grew weary of it all, eager to leave this servitude in two months. Or less.
Gaining his feet, he threw his head back, releasing a bellow that rocked the room. The crowd roared, obviously thrilled with the battle, mistaking Herleif’s grief for pride in his triumph. When he lowered his head, he met the gaze of emerald eyes filled with sorrow. A woman stood among the crowd in partial shadows, but her form was impossible to miss.
He’d never seen her before and briefly wondered who she was. Suddenly her eyes flared with a golden light, startling him with its intensity. But when another light caught Herleif’s attention, he knew what he would see, as he’d seen it every time he ended a life. Looking down upon the man, a luminescent mist began rising from the body. It contained pinpoints of light, like a swarm of fireflies, and when he followed its path, it began to weave through the crowd. Herleif never knew if others ever saw it, or if they didn’t care, because their focus always turned to the next shifters approaching the pit.
With a burst of speed he’d never seen before, the light shot straight for the woman. Herleif jerked, ready to shout a warning, but she simply absorbed the light, appearing unaffected. Then she blinked and tears from her green eyes tracked down her rounded cheeks.
What the hell?
Herleif made a move in her direction, but the sea of bodies swallowed her like a ship lost to a storm.
This is the story of Herleif and Alexia, their story you keep glued to your book. Despite the fact that he is a troll she does not want him to change because she likes his troll form. There is a chemistry and strong attraction. If you like an insta-love then this is a must if you also like shifter stories. Highly recommended!

This is the last in the Monsters of NY series. Herleif is a troll that has been forced to fight to clear his father's debts. He is fighting one night when he sees Alexis, she does something he has not seen before. They are asked to work together to fight a mutual foe. The more time they spend together the deeper the feelings run.
These to fit together like an intricate puzzle. Looking forward to other books by the author.

Claim My Soul is part of the multi-authored Monsters of New York series. Wow, this one was so different from others in the series but I loved it. Herleif is a shapeshifting troll. He turns into a hunky Viking-like god when not a troll. Alexia is a bit of an empath who can help others cross over after death. Herleif works fighting in an underground club to pay off his father's debts. He and Alexia meet and do not hit it off. But they are asked to work together against a mutual evil and feelings shift. Their chemistry was off the charts hot and we got a happy ending after some drama. I love this series!

Great Characters & Awesome Story

Claim My Soul is the sixth book in the Monsters of New York series. There is some continuity in the books with characters and locations, but each is a standalone story. What is great about Claim My Soul is that it hits on both Greek and Norse mythology with the characters and their backgrounds, bringing them into the modern era.
There is alot of action and drama in the book so you will not want to put it down once you begin reading it. The fight scenes are pretty intense as some are to the death, but seem necessary in the backdrop of the supernatural world and the basement of the Gin Room. The romance that grows between Alexia and Herleif is perfect for them both and you quickly know that they are strong together. The book is a quick entertaining read.

Alexus has always been a guide for souls but meeting Herlief changed her world. He saw her in a crowd and was entranced by her but she was more than an attraction. As they struggle to uncover cryptic messages and bizarre situations their bond grows stronger as does their love. A sweet and steamy story with a beautiful HEA

Herleif is a troll fighting in underground supernatural rings. Not entirely something he'd choose to do, but he's repaying debt accrued by his good for nothing father. Alexia is and empath that also guides souls to the afterlife. They must work together as something sinister is happening to supernaturals. Is it also possible that self-loathing and unsure Herleif has found his fated mate in innocent Alexia?

Fighting Together

Okay hang on you won’t put it down until the last page is turned it will keep you on the edge of your seat. Herleif is troll who can’t shift back to his human form stuck in a land forced to fight to pay off debts his father owed, people called him out of his named which was so frustrating and he didn’t particularly like fighting to the death, but it was the rules something isn’t right when the competitor dies and their soul is collected. Alexia is different she took after her mother has the ability to assist with those who have died pass to their next journey in the afterlife she was there visiting with her uncle who leads the SRA while at the fight club she notices something isn’t right especially when the competitor dies and the soul collector who comes. The two of them have the same vision when death comes and this leads them to one another both have their issues, but they also are each other’s strengths. They bring out the best in one another, but will he continue to win, will he pay off a debt that isn’t his own, can they figure out what is going on when the soul collector comes putting a stop to it, will he ever get his human form back, and will they find happiness on their journey?

I was so glad to see Ms. Baird was offering the excellent addition to what I call the Gin Room series, that I was first introduced to by her friend and author Jade Marshall.
This is a fun shared shifter world located in New York with plenty of intrigue as well as romance. I'm hoping both writers continue sharing the stories of the Gin Room. I will certainly continue to follow Ms. Baird as I found her writing very enjoyable and easy to read.

Alexia and Herlief are both a part of this to-the -death fight club. Herlief is a troll who shape shifts and is competing. Alexia is there to usher souls to the afterlife. Together they notice something is wrong within the club. The two begin working as a team to fit this puzzle together. This book that combines Greek and Norse mythology has a great storyline. It’s steamy and action packed. This is a book you don’t want to miss.

This book was awesome as it combined two of my fave mythologies- Norse & Greek. Herleif Aganarsson, is a troll and he can shift into human form. His homeland is in Northern Denmark and his father has been forced to go there with his mother and Herleif has been ‘forced’ to fight in the supernatural fights to pay off his father’s debts. I found people calling him Harry to be annoying, like he did. I have no clue what nickname I would give him, lol. The fights are crazy and a lot of them are to the death, which bothers me. At least they all know what they are getting into. However, there are some mega shockers in the book that freaked me out. Alexia Stavros is visiting with her uncle Nic, who is one of the leaders of the SRA (Shifters Relations Agency). From her mother’s side of the Greek family, she has inherited the power to help people onward after death, much like Charon, the ferryman, or the god Hermes. Each pantheon usually has someone who does this job. For the Norse- it is the Valkyrie, if someone falls in battle. In the book, we find out some scary stuff that is going on in the supernatural underworld- that Lycans (werewolves) are dying… That’s all I’m saying as I don’t want to give things away. I found myself fascinated by Herleif and his powers as well as Alexia’s. I figured out who the bad guy was pretty quickly. The book is suspenseful, romantic, fun, funny, steamy, awesome fight scenes, scary, etc. I can’t wait to see what the next book does.

The fight scenes are pretty intense as some are to the death, but seem necessary in the backdrop of the supernatural world and the basement of the Gin Room. The romance that grows between Alexia and Herleif is perfect for them both and you quickly know that they are strong together. The book is a quick entertaining read. Herleif Aganarsson, is a troll and he can shift into human form. His homeland is in Northern Denmark and his father has been forced to go there with his mother and Herleif has been ‘forced’ to fight in the supernatural fights to pay off his father’s debts. I found people calling him Harry to be annoying, like he did. I have no clue what nickname I would give him, lol. The fights are crazy and a lot of them are to the death, which bothers me. At least they all know what they are getting into. However, there are some mega shockers in the book that freaked me out. Alexia Stavros is visiting with her uncle Nic, who is one of the leaders of the SRA (Shifters Relations Agency). From her mother’s side of the Greek family, she has inherited the power to help people onward after death, much like Charon, the ferryman, or the god Hermes. Each pantheon usually has someone who does this job. For the Norse- it is the Valkyrie, if someone falls in battle. In the book, we find out some scary stuff that is going on in the supernatural underworld- that Lycans (werewolves) are dying… That’s all I’m saying as I don’t want to give things away. I found myself fascinated by Herleif and his powers as well as Alexia’s. I figured out who the bad guy was pretty quickly. The book is suspenseful, romantic, fun, funny, steamy, awesome fight scenes, scary, etc. I can’t wait to see what the next book does.
