Unexpected Victories, 2

Eva Gardner rose from humble beginnings to become an internationally ranked powerlifter and a member of the World Winter Games’ first four-woman bobsled team. Nothing’s going to get in her way, especially not a beautiful, insufferable distraction.

Tallulah Bellemont was born to privilege but came just short of making sports history at the World Winter Games. When she is summoned to replace an injured member of the four-woman bobsled team, she is determined to embrace the opportunity and ignore the glares of her sexiest, surliest teammate.

Days on top of each other in a cramped bobsled and a tiny room bring tensions between Eva and Tallulah to a head, and explode in sexual chemistry hot enough to melt the snow. But when the team’s eligibility is called into question, they must fight to stay in the Games…and for each other.

Be Warned: f/f sex

Excerpt:

“I know,” Tallulah said, stepping closer. “Ever since college, you’ve hated me for reasons I never understood but couldn’t control. You’ve always said it was because of that competition, that accident, but whatever grudge you had clearly started before that and is still going strong. Everything I’ve ever worn, said, and done gets under your skin, and you’d insist the sky was orange if I said it was blue. Am I forgetting anything?”

“No.” Eva’s eyes blazed as she backed away, but her pale lips looked pouty and more appealing than they had any right to.

Tallulah took another step toward her. “But there’s one thing that doesn’t add up. If you really hated me, wouldn’t it stand to reason that I’d be so far beneath your notice that you’d refuse to acknowledge me? Wouldn’t you do everything in your power to pretend I didn’t exist?” That was, after all, Victoria’s modus operandi whenever her children or grandchildren had disappointed her.

“That’s not exactly easy,” Eva snapped. She backed away further until she was against the wall.

“Yes, these close quarters don’t help, but you’d figure it out if you put your mind to it. Just like you figure out how to do everything you want, whether that’s going to a top college, winning an international tournament, or making a historic bobsled team.” She couldn’t keep the admiration out of her voice.

“But I digress. Not only are you paying attention, but you’re going out of your way to call me out on things nobody else notices.” The more she spoke, and the closer she stepped, the more thoughts occurred to her. “Which tells me that you’re looking for things to get under your skin, and you’re watching me pretty closely to find them.”

“What are you talking about?” Eva’s words were challenging, but her face told a different story. Her expression looked open, almost inviting.

“It makes me wonder whether you hate me or there’s something else at work here.” Feeling reckless, Tallulah closed the space between them by pressing her mouth against Eva’s.
