The Winged Assassin Series, 1

Madeline has lived a tough life, but nothing prepared her for being kidnapped and thrust into the unknown dimension of OneWorld where she is tortured by a white-eyed monster. Dominion, the Immortal black-winged assassin of the OneCreator, rescues her. As their paths intertwine, Madeline grapples with newfound powers and her unexpected evolution while Dom comes to terms with his guilt from an event in his past. Theirs is a tale of twists and turns, doubt, forbidden love, forgiveness, and conflict that threatens the existence of OneWorld.

Be Warned: BDSM, blood play

Excerpt:

Madeline dragged a fork through her potatoes, eventually shoving a bite into her mouth. When she finished chewing, she broke off a piece of crisp bacon and popped it in, licking her lips. “I was thinking about going home, but when you came into the kitchen, I realized how much help you need around here. You probably don’t pay enough attention to yourself. Like eating regularly. Your laundry. Cleaning house. I could organize stuff. Take care of your place.” She winked again. “And you.”

She tilted her chin, a strand of hair feathering across her cheek as she slipped him an irresistible smile. He followed the sweep of her tongue across her lower lip again.

Damn. Things were taking a definite turn toward strange.

Finished, Dom pushed his plate away. He gripped the handle of his coffee mug, taking a sip. Good. Brewed just right. He cleared his throat, searching for something to say. Conversation wasn’t part of his skill set.

Madeline scooted closer, thigh to thigh, a hand caressing his shoulder, floating down to clasp his bicep. “Don’t you like having me here? I could be very convenient to have around.”

When her breast brushed his arm, his heart pounded against his ribs. She was coming on to him.

Dom escaped her grip and moved out of boob range. “Be careful, little female.”

As she leaned close, her whispery breath puffed across his ear. “I’m not so little.”

“Uh-huh.” He swallowed hard. What the hell was she doing? She’d gone from scared to distrusting to cautious acceptance. Now this? Was this typical human behavior?

She inched nearer again, heat radiating off her body. He never turned down an offer from a female, and this one was cooking more than breakfast. But Dom was cautious. He didn’t like not knowing the game.

Madeline tilted into his chest and crushed her lips to his.

To hell with caution.

Not about to allow her to control the situation, Dom yanked her onto his lap, her legs straddling him. He took over, forcing her mouth open and caressing her tongue with his. As she melted against him, his cock got with the game.

Excellent

Another tremendous story. The foundation of excellent world building began with The Blood Coven series, and it continues with the Winged Assassins. Maddy showed tenacity and strength, and Dom showed patience and growth - even after many millennia of existence. Loved the passion. Very much looking forward to more in the series.

First off, this was a highly entertaining and well-written story and my first book I've read written by T. M. Smith. This is not the first series written by the author so I definitely have some catching up. This new series start, seemed interconnected, or a possible spinoff of her Firebrand series, as we were introduced to side characters, but was so nicely descriptive in the world building and the character additions, that I never felt I was missing anything vital. It did not hinder my reading enjoyment of DSoG as the plot flowed quite nicely. It was only when we were introduced to side characters, such as Indie and Ohngel, that I felt I had possibly missed a prior story, but I never felt the need to stop reading DSoG. This was a wonderful page turner with some brooding winged warrior assassins, four to be exact abd known as the Feard, who begin by doing their job day in and day out for millennium busting heads and doling out punishment to the Scourge, until a kidnapped human, Madeline from St. Louis, a.k.a Maddy, is dropped into their lap. A human in the Purgatory realm known as Angor in OneWorld is highly suspicious as well as against the law of the big bad OneCreator and must be dealt with immediately by our black winged assassins. Our MMC, Dominion, a.k.a Dom, or as everyone including Maddy likes to refer to as "O bossy one," finds and rescues Maddy first. He only wants to get her back to Earth ASAP to uncomplicate his miserable life, but her mystery is complicated by the who, how's, and why of her kidnapping as well as Dom's inability to let Maddy go. This book ticked off many of my favorite tropes and plenty of spice, but does end in a bit of a cliffhanger. Overall, I will definitely be waiting for book two in this series as well as checking out the author's Firebrand series as mentioned above.

Dark Shadow of Guilt
Written by DebG on 22nd Apr 2025

This is book one of the winged Assassins of Angor. It starts with Madeline, a human librarian being kidnapped and taken to Angor by a Mind rat called Praevus. There he keeps her prisoner and attempts to mess with her mind and make her a sycophant. While he wasn't completely successful he did manage to place some triggers that would pop up later. She manages to escape and is rescued by Dom a winged assassin known as a Feard. That is where the story gets interesting. There is a hunt on for Praevus, and an underlying plot with unknown perpetrators. Add to that the underlying sexual tension between the two main characters and an as yet hidden part of Madeline that make her more than human and you have the makings of quite an interesting tale. I recommend you check it out.

Dark but Good Story
Written by JeniT on 22nd Apr 2025

Madeline is a librarian who’s ordered world ends abruptly when she is kidnapped to another realm by Praveus a creepy white eyed monster and escapes to be rescued by a winged hero/assassin Dominion. This story has twists and turns and whole host of surprises. This has ties to the Firebrand world but it’s definitely a whole new world to explore. You get a HEA for these characters but this is one awesome kickoff to a whole new series! I’m super excited to see what comes next and to who…I have some characters I hope we get to see more of! Loved it!! ?

Awesome read
Written by Laura Ann on 22nd Apr 2025

Although, I’ve missed a few books in between here and the last 1 I read, this was absolutely mind glowingly awesome! OMG. Learning about Angor, and the OneWorld and everyone/everything was just wow. Madeline is kidnapped from Earth and brought to Angor, where she is mind tortured by a Mind Rat, Praevus. The book is scary as well as inspiring. Learning about Maddie as she grew up with her sisters Fia & Darya was inspiring and heartbreaking. Learning about the Immortal and the break down into Scourges, etc. wow. Ohngel and Indy are hilarious and romantic and sweet together. Dominion, is another winged assassin of the OneCreator or OC, like Ohngel, Ely (Elysian) & Remi (Remiel). They can seriously fight. Like wow. I’d love to see a movie, tv show or manga cartoon version of this. I love Remi of the other guys as he talks movies and tv shows- quoting them a lot, which made me laugh. Dominion is a grumpy Alpha but he does grow on ya. I soooo needed the AC on for the hotness factor of the guys. Maddie goes through so much, it made me tear up a few times and cry a few times. What Praevus does to Maddie lasts much longer and freaks me out. EEEEK. The fight scenes are awesome and the book could go from sweet and cute and fun to freaky in an instant. Things do not go as planned and goes total mayhem. Something is seriously wrong with the OC and OneWorld. I’m totally in love with the wolver, Freki. He is cute, hilarious and I’d want to be with him all the time if he was real. lol. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Lovely start to a new series
Written by Smillican on 19th Apr 2025

Book one in the new Winged Assassin series, Dark Shadow of Guilt is a dark paranormal romance set in Angor, in OneWorld dimension. Following the abrupt abduction of Madeleine by a Scourge named Praevus, and a winged assassin for the OneCreator, Dominion. The story was well crafted and held my attention throughout. The characters deep emotions were explored nicely, and the world was described in a way that didn’t overtake the plot. Quite the balance.

Excellent Read!

Dark Shadow of Guilt is book one of the author’s new Winged Assassin paranormal series that takes the reader on quite an exciting journey with it’s MFC librarian Madeline who leaving work for the day bumps into a man on the street while walking home and next thing she knows wakes up tied to a wall in the Scath realm. The strange white eyed monster who has her calls himself Praevus as she learns later and his perverse mind rat gift is to be able to enter another’s mind. But Madeline has survived a past that has made her mind shields strong which doesn’t make it easy for the monster to ravage hers, though he does leave something behind that will effect future events. MMC Dominion is an assassin for the One Creator and after a snitch lets him and is fellow assassins know about the human now in their realm they go hunting to find her. Luckily Dominion finds Madeline first after she was able to escape Praevus and their adventure together begins, as they try to determine why she was kidnapped, and if Praevus was working alone. Loved this newest story that is set amongst the world of the Firebrands and was filled with twists and turns, humor to lighten moments, surprises, action, spice, intrigue, danger, well crafted characters, and excellent world building. Looking forward to what comes next!

An Exciting New Series! What a great start to the series! Things are not always what they seem, so many secrets, actions, an endless cat and mouse chase to find answers as the mysteries unfold and take you deeper and deeper in this twisted first book of the series which will keep you on the edge of your seats. A great build up to the world they are in, the characters are amazing, some surprises with some witty and sizzling moments between Madeline and Dom until they get to their HEA with an ending that will leave you needing more answers as you eagerly await the next in the series. I am a fan of this author and she never fails to please with her storylines!
