Fantastic book
This is a fantastic book to read. Once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down. The characters are well developed and the storyline pulled me in from the start. Highly recommend!
Death Riders MC, 7
An act of savage violence shatters Keres’s life. Her heart and soul demands vengeance. To hunt a monster, she must become a monster.
Ronin is tracking the person who’s been sniping his marks, and is surprised when he finds the beautiful red-head wielding the deadly knife.
Sparks fly between them. Not of love, but of anger. They don’t trust one another, yet can’t seem to deny their attraction.
When the Death Riders are attacked, her sacrifice is demanded. The unsteady foundation she’d been balancing upon crumbles, leaving her to face alone the nightmare that created her.

Excerpt:
“Keres, look at me.” Fingers tilted her chin up until she stared into his light green eyes. “Can you speak to me?”
Speak to him? She couldn’t even take a breath. He cupped her face, leaned close, and then … he started to hum. The sound completely shocked her, not only because his warm breath tickled her ear and fanned across her cheek, but because the musical cadence in his voice hypnotized the dread pulsing through her soul. Slowly, the numbness melted, and her vision came back into sharp focus.
“That’s it,” he murmured, smiling at her. “Welcome back.”
Keres drew a shuddering breath, letting it out slowly. The stiffness in her muscles unclenched. “Y-you sang to me.”
“Not quite,” he murmured. “Long ago I discovered music helps settle my mind when it goes into the darkness.”
It seemed odd to think this gorgeous man had a condition so mundane like panic attacks. “Y-you have anxiety?”
He grinned. “You thought all us hitmen sat around polishing our knives and eating nails?”
“I didn’t realize there was a club.”
He chuckled. “That’s funny in more ways than you know. My name is Ronin.”
She turned that over in her mind. “A samurai without a master. That explains the tattoo. The name fits you.”
“Because I’m wicked deadly?”
“Are you flirting with me?”
“Yes.”
She wanted so badly to flirt back. To giggle and pretend she was an ordinary woman, but she wasn’t and would never be again. The monsters had ripped out her innocence and blackened her soul.
“You should leave,” she mumbled, then cleared her throat. “You need to forget about me.”
This is a fantastic book to read. Once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down. The characters are well developed and the storyline pulled me in from the start. Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed this book--it was so good and unlike some series-this book was good no matter that there was several before--that were wonderful as well. I can't wait to see what the next story brings.
She was horribly attacked and left for dead when she was rescued by a man seeking vengeance of his own. He taught her everything he knew and together they tried to right the wrongs. He was a hired assassin. Paid by contract to carry out vengeance when justice failed. When some of his contracts start turning up dead just before he gets to them he realizes there’s another getting there before him. He is shocked to find out it is a beautiful woman, lady death. They have explosive chemistry, each, finding something in the other that they didn’t know was possible. This is my first time with this author and this series, and it immediately made me go back and purchase the other books of the series. I wasn’t sure what my expectation was gonna be, but I didn’t think I would connect so immediately and strongly to these characters. The author does an excellent job of character development giving you layers, not only who they are now, but also what made them. She also gives you the unconventional ways that these characters connect to each other and bring peace to each other. It is a beautiful brutality. This is a shorter story, at under 200 pages so I I was not expecting to get such a detailed story with so much nuance. The author didn’t waste it. Their chemistry created some very passionate spice. These two were hot and heavy for each other, and a little bit dirty. While this story is a complete standalone, there are characters in the story that I know were in previous stories, and I look forward to reading them. I would suggest you read them in order so that it makes the best story experience.
Afternoon spent reading this book. The story had a good flow and was well written. Lots of action and intrigue for readers. There was steamy chemistry between the couple.
Here's your polished review with minor tweaks for clarity and flow: A traumatized female assassin fueled by rage and out for vengeance? Um, YES PLEASE! Add in several panic attacks and a supportive biracial male assassin, and I’m SOLD. This book isn’t just about vengeance and violence; it’s set against a backdrop of hate, racism, misogyny, and homophobia (what else would you expect from a dark romance?). Yet, somehow, it’s also a cute story where new friendships blossom amidst death and destruction, giving this dark romance an unexpectedly heartwarming twist. It’s definitely on the lighter side of dark romance. The violence isn’t overly graphic, so if gore isn’t your thing, you’re safe here. It’s a fast-paced read, perfect for when you want something gripping but quick. That said, I wouldn’t have minded a slightly longer book with more of Ronin’s backstory—it would’ve added some extra depth. This was my first dive into the Death Riders MC series, and while it works perfectly as a standalone, reading the earlier books would’ve added a layer of depth and extra fun. (Note to self: Go back and start from the beginning!)
I've read several books written by Beth D. Carter; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is the seventh book in the Death Riders MC Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Keres & Ronin.
Keres' life is full of tragedies. First her parents died and then she and her best friend are attacked and only she survived. Her path to revenge leads to another death and she feels she she brings this on those around her. Ronin is an assassin. His paths cross with Keres when he is hired to kill the men that she is hunting. He is very understanding of her and does what he can to keep her safe. She just has to survive in order to find happiness.
Out for revenge, this story is dark and intense and I enjoyed it so much. The characters are intense and well developed. The story flowed well, really have enjoyed this whole series. I know this is the last book, but I hope not.
This is the seventh, and what appears to be the final story in the "Death Riders MC" series. It starts off with triggers and dark elements, so reader beware. It is very captivating and engrossing read that I could not put down until the epic ending. The previous stories in the series tie together with a Supernatural spin to it that comes full circle in the fifth story. This story can be read as a stand alone but does have characters that in prior stories with a little supernatural tossed in. This one is about Ronin and Keres. I absolutely loved this story! The story begins with what Keres and Abigail, her best friend, have endured. One did not make it and the other was rescued by a stranger. Keres becomes a fierce fighter, determined to avenge her friend. Ronin, an assassin and member of the Death Riders, wants to know who keeps picking off his targets. He cannot imagine who is behind the deadly and vengeful way his targets have been killed. When he meets her, he is even more intrigued. This is such a good read. I love every bit of this story and the characters. The story is intriguing with suspense, action, danger, trauma, PTSD, passion, love, revenge, understanding, murder and much more.
I always love me a Beth D Carter story and Keres and Ronin would have to be one if my favourite Death Riders couples. One brutal night sets Keres in a path of destruction avenging the loss of her old self and the death of her best friend. Aided by a man who has lost everything as well, they work together to end those responsible. Enter Death Riders hit man Ronin who finds the broken Keres everything he's ever wanted.
A traumatised women fueled by the desire for revenge. What more could you want in a story. Sorry to see the end of this series (for now) but a great way to end things. No paranormal or physic skills just shear determination to get the revenge that is deserved. Well done. Thanks for the story.
Keres and Ronin’s story has them finding each other when she goes after the people that hurt her and her friend who he is hired to assassinate. But when they finally meet the attraction is hot. But they need to unravel all the secrets and heal to become better couple
This was a good one, full of emotions and feelings and so much that you are completely drawn into the story of Ronin and Keres and keep your attention. The storyline and the characters are well described by the author. They fight together against the enemy both with a different approach but in the end they want to achieve the same and a hea. .
Keres was raped and left for dead with her dead best friend when she was saved and given a second chance. The life she made was simple find and kill the people responsible for her best friend’s death and her mentor’s husband’s death and destroy them. Ronin was tasked with hunting down vile predators but his marks were being murdered before he could touch them. Ronin and Keres met her after her latest mark and was hurt he rescued her and was drawn to the mystery of her. As they form a bond her life is in danger but losing her is a worse fate than death. Ronin will do anything to save her and keep the woman he loves forever. Dark and haunting but also beautiful and sweet it’s a perfect dark romance!!
I’m very sad that this is the last book of the series. (For now.). I adored this series. After a horrible attack where her bestie and she were attacked and only Abigail died, but Keres survived, she wants revenge. It takes a long time for her to heal up, before she starts training with the man who found her, Darby. It was the Deathman who did it. Their list of depravity knows no bounds. They are evil, cruel, etc. Ronin is part of the Death Riders MC and his main job therein is to be an assassin. Someone hired him to deal with the Deathmen. However, someone is cutting in on his kills. he is impressed by the gruesomeness of the act. He was supposed to kill 3 members. Since I know Greek Mythology I know that Keres took that name for a reason. Ronin meets Keres and he is a bit miffed with her for making him refund money. Keres and Ronin are drawn to each other. Darby trained Keres to deal with what happened to them (which made me cry and rant and chew on my nails and need my AC on). Honestly, I was impressed with Keres too. Even tho Keres & Ronin are both vigilantes in their own ways, the amount of evil the Deathmen have done…. Mind boggling that they just couldn’t get caught and dealt with. The author captures Keres’ panic attacks well. I’ve seen my dad deal with panic attacks and hers are described in exactly the same way my dad says since I was little. Keres and Ronin are drawn to each other. In this book, we see a different side to the Death Riders MC. They are much scarier in this book, but to me it felt like they were the Wrath of God. I cried a lot during this book and there are loads of triggers in it. But, to me, it felt like cartharsis. Reading how they handled everything, even the bad stuff, inspired me to look at some of my problems differently and to think more outside of the box. I hope the author returns to the series as it inspired me to think more.
Book seven in the series, I enjoyed the suspense, Ronin and Keres are amazing characters, I really enjoyed the story. a real page turner,,
This was a profound story that drew me in to Keres and Ronin. I connected with their personal backgrounds and how it led them to the lives they became to lead. Although it is a MC setting it was more about Keres and Ronin and how they were drawn to each other over taking out a brutal organization that wreaked havoc on the city as well as on Keres and her best friend. It is well written with colorful characters and an action-packed plot filled with twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages.
Every time a new book of this series is release and I finished it, I want to go back and read all the previous stories. I really enjoy this book, even though this serie is a bit dark, every story is great!
The conclusion of these alpha bikers & their equally strong women is a fast paced exciting read. Robin & Keres most definitely have us enjoying the on the go with action & some dark moments. I enjoyed the sass & the attraction between them. A nice end where everyone has a part to play.
Keres's life is shattered in one night, she loses her bestie and finds someone, Darby, who is willing to aid her vengeance. Keres and Darby are one by one taking out members of the Deathmen, but the catch the eye of the third party. Ronin needs to find out who is taking out his marks, they are costing him money. He is surprised that the person is a woman. Ronin and Keres starts a little slower, she is still dealing with trauma of the assault. Ronin knows she is his, it takes him a little while to let everyone else know. This may be triggering for some due to trauma of assault, violence and aspects of the story.
This book is dark and intense so make sure to pay attention to the trigger warnings. Keres experienced trauma which resulted in her friend's death. She vowed vengeance and trained toward that goal. When she inadvertently began to take out another assassin's (Ronin) targets, he began to look for her. Once found by Ronin, sparks began to fly between them. Thus begginning their love story but Keres doubles down when her mentor is killed and his gym burned to the ground. She knew she had to avenge him also. The Death Riders MC, Ronin's club, took her in but it put them in the crosshairs of her enemy. Keres takes the necessary steps to insure the DRMC are left alone and to complete her quest for vengeance. Ronin follows her and together with the DRMC take out the remaining Deathmen. Ronin and Keres survive and get their HEA. This was an outstanding book and it was refreshing to see a bada** woman that didn't need a man to do her dirty work.
This was a wild read that really went in a different direction than I expected. No psychic skills, just lots of training and a ton of determination. Keres survived an attack by the Deathmen and worked hard on her revenge. Ronin, a Death Riders MC assassin for hire, keeps losing out on jobs because Keres takes care of business before he can... When these two meet, their connection is off-the-charts hot but they both have secrets to unravel while trying to survive. This was such a great read but it's dark and graphic, so beware of the TWs. Sadly, this is the last Death Riders MC book but I know I'll continue to re-read this series for years to come. Can't wait for what's next by this author :D
This book was definitely a page turner and I knew from the very beginning that it would be on the darker side. Keres’ young life was turned upside down when she and her friend were attacked by some very bad men. Thank goodness a good Samarian was there to rescue Keres from sure death. Now was the time for revenge and let me tell you that this woman was extremely smart and deadly. Little did she know that in the background was a hitman going after her targets as well. Ronin might have been a man that could take a life when needed but he had a connection with Keres and looking now to be her protector. The connection between these two was amazing and I loved watching Keres come back into her own person with Ronin’s help. I highly recommend this book for those of us who love their MC books with a strong alpha male and a strong woman who is made whole again.
There is no better book I've read this year yet. There's some triggers in it. But so worth the read. A bad a$$ women who takes revenge on her attackers. Must read
She was willing to die for her vengeance, she already felt like a part of her had died in that alley. He just wanted to know who was taking out his jobs. When he saw her he was just drawn to her. She never thought she would have any feelings for any one ever again after that horrible night. They are willing to do just about anything for each other as well as those they love. The things that they go thru is scary and very sad but together any thing can happen.
Lady Death is the seventh book in the Death Riders MC series. It is an action-packed steamy MC romance with drama, a little suspense, twists and some very heartbreaking moments. The characters continue to draw you into their world. Keres and Ronin are a unique coupling but one that totally works due to their unique skill sets and tragic backgrounds. I could not put the book down!
Best Served Cold Dark daring and intense. Emotions everywhere and layered. A tragic event changes people and she's no different. Her thirst for revenge consumes her. It's what she lives for. The job is his payday all up until his marks are being snapped up. The meet is pure chemistry, a big bad and a lil bad. Let the snarkiness commence. Hmmm anyway they can come together? Will thr need for retribution be too much to over come? Will the brothers be out for blood? Hmmm questions... you need to read for answers. A great mix of dark, passion, want and letting go. Enjoy
Lady Death is book 7 in the Death Riders MC series and is Ronin and Keres dark, intense story. It's gritty and emotional and heartbreaking. Keres suffered severe trauma at the hands of The Deathmen. Now she has to learn to live with that trauma. "Time wasn’t healing all her wounds. The invisible ones were still embedded in her soul." The Deathmen are a thorn in everybody's side it seems. Keres and her friend and savior Darby aren't the only ones after The Deathmen. Ronin has his own score to settle, he just seems to be one step behind and he's going to figure out who's always that step ahead. Lady Death is a fantastic dark read! I couldn't get enough of Ronin and Keres!
Keres lost everything at the hands of the deathmen and vows revenge. Roninn is on the trail of the deathmen too, butbaomeones always one step ahead, and that's Keres, they don't gave a great start when they first meet but soon things changes and feelings develop but will their common goal bring them closer or further apart? Well written engaging, violence, dark themes and more
