“You’re having an unlucky day, Mr. Kenyon.” The doctor hovered at the end of the bed, but even the sight of him wasn’t enough to chase away the throbbing of his head.
“Every day is an unlucky day,” he muttered. “I used to think it was funny.”
“Well, maybe we can keep you safe overnight.” Frowning, Dr. Anderson glanced at the clock.
“Wait, I have work tomorrow.” Unlike a lot of people, Theo loved his job. “I can’t just take a day off.”
“I don’t feel right releasing you.” His health must have been truly concerning, because the doctor had a no-nonsense stare on his sexy face.
He hung his head, fiddling with the IV line. “Okay.”
“What do you do?” Though the ER was probably jammed, Dr. Anderson lingered, hand resting on his foot.
“I’m a manager at the animal shelter.” And it was a great job. Thank God they were a no-kill shelter or he never could have handled it. He loved working with animals and the openhearted people who wanted to adopt them. Nothing made him happier than an animal finding a forever home. “Wasatch County Animal Shelter.”
Nodding, Dr. Anderson squeezed his foot, and even now Theo’s heart sang a song in response. “Well, I’m off. Dr. Hendricks will be taking care of you tonight.”
His eyes fluttered. “You’re off the clock?”
“I just wanted to do a last check on you before going home.” Running his fingers over his lanyard, Dr. Anderson smiled at him, giving him a glimpse at heaven.
At his side Ana was grinning from ear to ear as Dr. Anderson left.
“Don’t. Say. It.” He crossed his arms.
Still wearing that damn smirk, she put her hands behind her head. “Wasn’t gonna.”
As a furmom I couldn't help but relate to Theo's panic when Bacon was taken. Good thing Arty was there to help him.
This story ended faster than I anticipated, but that was okay. It was fun to read. There were parts where I kind of knew what would happen before it did, but I thought that was ok, too, as it made the story more cohesive.
Was it romantic? Yes. Was it titillating? I certainly think so. And at the back is still that worry if Bacon is ok and the strong desire to bring him home.

This was such a fun MM novella, just what I needed read to lift my spirit. Theo seems to have accidents and bad luck stuck him. Through all that he meets Arty, after one of his mishaps. They fall in lust and love and find their hea with their whole gang of sogs and other animals.

This cute story has one thing in it that I love... a dog! But I am also a cat person too! Theo thinks he is very unlucky. And perhaps he is, but that all changes when he meets Dr. Arty in the ER... twice! There is an almost instant draw between the two. It is a little bit predictable, but it's still a cute, quick read that will put you in a good frame of mind! I have read a few of Penelope's books already and like her as a writer.

Meet Cute Kinda?

A sweet novella with enough heat between the two heroes to satisfy. Theo's bad luck was both funny and made him vulnerable. Arty was great. The chemistry between the two worked and there were lots of cute dogs....
Speaking of dogs, that was the part of the story that just didn't click as much for me, the whole dog-napping plot... I'm just not sure it was needed (it ends well, no worries) but it didn't make a ton of sense to me.
Overall a nice love story, a HEA and some great chemistry.

Way too funny! Theo, came out on the wrong side of his dog, Bacon being dognapped. His best friend, Ana took him to the ER where he was taken care of by Dr Arty Anderson. Upon leaving the hospital, Theo was attacked by PETA demonstrators and ended up back in the ER. Theo and Arty embark on a fun journey of getting to know each other, animals and any mishap that can possibly happen. You can't help but feel empathy for Theo. Nice story, nicely done. Totally funny characters. I received Good story!

Very Entertaining

I really enjoyed this. It was somewhat predictable in some areas but not so much that it took away the entertainment value. Theo was really unlucky but he took the hits like a trooper. I could understand why it was hard to trust and why he thought Arty the sexy doctor was too be true. So this is where I go back in forth with my rating...the blatant miscommunication. Simple truths would have solved ALOT of issues up front...and this is where the predictable scenarios come into play. I decided on a higher rating just because the author did a quick save (surprising twist I wasn't counting on) on the romantic storyline that ultimately brought the guys a very satisfying and wonderful HEA. All in all this was a good short but sweet with heat, humorous, with a lil action romance that I would definitely recommend.

It began with Bacon

Yep, it all begins with Bacon. Bacon just happens to be the much-loved basset hound and BFF of Theo. What starts as a routine morning turns into something much different when Bacon is doggienapped and Theo left bloodied. When he goes to the clinic at the insistence of his human BFF, Ana, he meets the most gorgeous doctor, Arty. These two get to know each other while Theo searches for Bacon and Arty is secretly helping his BFF, Kim. There are several things that happen within this short story, so hold on. Theo's thoughts are hilarious and made me laugh more than once. You can say that because this is a short story/novella that things happen fast, but I believe it is because when you know, you know. This is Arty's thoughts too, BTW. So, get this quick read and enjoy the Theo comedy, love between men and their pack of dogs, as well as the love that may or may not survive Arty's secret.

This was such a sexy sweet read! Theo is plagued with terrible luck and manages to have his best friend and dog, Bacon stolen from him. A concussion and a hospital trip layer, he meets hot Dr Arty. I loved these two together.Arty manages to get past Theos defences and they go on a mission to save Bacon.

You can say that because this is a short story\u002fnovella that things happen fast, but I believe it is because when you know, you know. This is Arty's thoughts too, BTW.
