She concentrated on finishing when she felt the bed behind her dip down with his weight.

Janessa continued to put lotion on even though she’d already done it trying to stall for time. She heard him sigh.

His arm banded around her waist and pulled her into the middle of the bed, flat on her back, staring up at him. His hand felt hot on her stomach, and she noticed her robe had come undone, and she was nude. He grabbed her hand when she went to pull the blanket up.

“Baby, do you trust me?”

She stared up at him in surprise. “Yes. I trust you more than anyone.”

“Then let me take care of you.”

She sighed and nodded. Her thoughts scattered when he bent and started kissing her. It seemed to go on forever, and her body was starting to ache.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Nick and Janessa’s journey. Nick is an ex-marine, who with his alpha buddies, are seeking a place where they fit in. Janessa is a widow, who is making the best out of her life, and when a friend convinces her to attend a barn dance, she meets Nick, and there is an instant connection between them. This is a well written story which has humor, witty banter, emotions, friendships, communication, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy page turner. Oh yes! The first in a new series that I hope will have lots more books to come. Phew was this hot! A brilliant story, loved it from beginning to end and was honestly gutted when I realised I was on the last page. I love the way Lila writes. Can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Janessa just wanted to feel safe Janessa Lost her husband two years ago and ever since then she had men swarming around her not giving her any peace. When a good friends invite her to Barn dance she wasn’t sure but was glad when she talked her into it. Because this is where she met Nick. He was an ex marine who was coming to the area to live and he saved her from one of these men who had Cornered her. Nick knows immediately that she is a woman for him and he sets out to get his woman. I thoroughly enjoyed this book I liked that Nick knew what she needed and he gave it to her even when she didn’t feel the need. What I mean is she’d wanna do something dangerous he’d say no but he would explain why and then she’d come around. The communication skills were absolutely brilliant and the passion is off the charts I really really enjoyed this read and I’m hoping to read the next book in the series.

This is the 1st book in The Doms of Madison County series featuring the later in life D/S romance between Nick and Janessa. I really enjoyed that the characters in this story were more mature that made them and their situation much more relatable to me. As a former Navy Seal Nick is an alpha male who is protective and sensitive of women's needs he's also possessive when it comes to Janessa. Janessa is a widow who runs her ranch on her own she's independent and stubborn but her son brings Nick to the ranch because he thinks that he would be good for Janessa. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this mature D/S romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

Loved this story so much I can't wait for book 2! A different take on your typical Dom/sub relationship as Jenessa is 45 and a widow of 2 years. Then she meets Nick who at 49 is finally ready to settle down after years in the military. Such a sweet story but still with a hint of spice. Ok more than a hint but it was just right

This books was a short and sweet read. Nick and Janessa meet at a party and hit it off. He’s a veteran that was married once before, and she’s a widow. There’s no real conflict in their relationship except some outside troubles that are resolved externally and do not affect the story. It reads more like a later in life romance than a dom/sub book. I enjoyed it.

Nick was an ultimate alpha male who immediately zoned in on Janessa. He was a bad a$$ protector that was tender, sensitive and knew how to let his woman be who she was meant to be. Janessa was a woman pushed into a role that was not who she really was. Her relationship with Nick allowed her to be feminine, soft and accept Nick’s protection while still being the feisty woman she could be. This book had a bit of drama but didn’t have a lot of the angst and suspense (trust me, it was not missed in this book). The story line stood on its one merits without those “extras”. The author did a good job preparing the reader for a possible series. Janessa had two adult sons that could have a lovely story line. Nick’s ex-marine buddies were developed just enough to make want to see their story lines. So many interesting characters that caught my attention (including the sheriff) but did not overshadow the main characters. I want more books from this author.

This was a great read. It had excitement, steam, and a really good story. I especially loved the side characters and can't wait for them to get their stories as well. I do wish there was a little more drama concerning the bad guy (banker) but that didn't really bring my rating down.

He is a former military man who has moved to this country town with his other DOM buddies and falls instantly in love with her and they have a very tame Dom/sub relationship, this is a very clean story with easy going writing.

Ranch owner and widow Janessa, meets ex military hero, Nick, new in town and looking for a good woman to share his life. The attraction is instant, their chemistry electric - he's a Dom and she needs him in her life. This short story appears to be setting up the introductions to the rest of the series. Though this has very light BDSM content there's all of Nick's ex military buddies and the idea of Nick's ranch to be turned into a BDSM club being floated in this storyline. Hopefully the heat will get turned up as the series progresses and the dream of their club is realised. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

This story was a nice surprice! I loved how the story developed. The maturity of the main characters was relly well incorporated into the story, with no endles back and forth, but two people attracted to each other and ready to make it work. Albeit it really developed in a short period of time, their relationship development was nicely described and you could just have a good time reading the story. They had a good chemistry right from the beginning and there are steamy moents and scenes too, though I would have loved if there were more of them. I'll look up more from this author, because this story made me curious.

Great second chance romance for Nick and Janessa

This was a great second chance romance that brought together Nick and Janessa, a couple in their mid to late 40s. Nick is rather dominant and wants his partner to be submissive in some ways, while allowing her to be her feisty self, in others. This works well for Janessa as she's been the chick in charge for 25 years and needs to feel safe and cherished. They both had some things to work through, though, and this caused a wee bit of relationship angst...and a spanking. Lol! I enjoyed meeting the group of characters that are part of this series opener and look forward to the next guy to find his perfect gal, too :D

This was a delightful story in the Dom genre. We are taken into the life of Nick and Janessa, he comes from the navy and wants to start his Quater-horse ranch in Madison County if it works out. When he bumps into the widow Janessa at an event, the attraction to her is instantaneous. They both have a backpack and have to handle both things alone and with each other. What Janessa doesn't know is that he's a Dom and would like if he reads her right that she'd be a great sub. There is drama, sadness, mourning, kinky role play and lots of hot and steamy moments between them. This is highly recommended, especially if you like stories that take place in the Dom scene.

If you are looking for an actual love story about a Don Sub relationship of a mature man and woman, this is the best book I’ve ever read. Janessa is strong woman who married young for a “sweet” love who ultimately died, and she continued to take care of his farm and the boys. Now, the boys are grown and she is ready for more. In walks the perfect Dom to ”help” the stubborn woman who has always had to do it all…As I have gotten older, I have realized that I can’t do it all (and I don’t want to), so someone who will come in and take over for me; let’s just say this book spoke to every dream I have had and didn’t realize I needed. He exacts control in himself and demands it out of his woman in the perfect balance, and they help each other move forward. Some of the story wasn’t necessarily realistic, but isn’t that why we read? I don’t care. It was fun to read, and it left me with such a wonderful light feeling. I can’t wait for more books in this series!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Janessa meets Nick when she is out friends. He comes to her rescue when soneone is badgering her. This starts up his Dom feelings for her. The attraction is strong for the both of them. Janessa needs a strong man in her life and she can't wait to make Nick hers.

After having issues downloading I was finally able to read this book and I throughly enjoyed reading Nick and Janessa’s story the instant chemistry and sizzling attraction between them was perfectly steamy with lots of heart and sense of family friendship with their circle. When Janessa - widowed for 2 years - decides it is time to rebuild her life, she meets the dominant ex navy hot guy Nick and the attraction is immediate. Nick is everything she never knew she needed. A possessive and loving Dom who decides from the get go that Janessa will be his woman. This book - fairly short - is well crafted, the characters absolutely believable, Nick swoon worthy and the Dom/sub dynamic written for real life. Nick is only one of the 5 alpha guys that moved into town. Sign me up for the rest!

Janessa is a widow with a farm/ranch, 2 just adult sons, and several annoying men who won’t take the hint. Nick is new to town and takes note of the beautiful, feisty and independent woman. They become very close and they are a perfect match. The sexual attraction is like nothing she has ever experienced and she thrives on his dominance. Lila has created a forever relationship between Janessa and Nick with explicitly filthy sex and an equally significant family relationship. Their personalities, hopes for the future, and values mesh deeply. I love Lila books and this one is awesome!!

Storyline and characters were good, but just as the relationship and (mainly because of the limited pages) rushed and Nicks behaviour was over the top and lacking any kind of explanation. Still an ok read with potential to be great, if given more space.

Really enjoyed this book, was disappointed when it ended. The only thing I found hard to believe was how quickly they got together, I would of enjoyed more interactions between Nick and “little Squirrel “ . Overall it’s an easy quick book. Read it in 3 days.

First time reading anything from this author and overall I enjoyed it. It was nice that being older in age they didn't muck around they knew what they wanted and they went for it. Loved the ending and can't wait to read the rest of the guys stories
