In the wake of his brother’s violent death in Naked City, part of Las Vegas, Alejandro Navarro, an undercover ATF agent, wants venganza. Things get ugly, however, after a shot shatters the sliding glass door of his apartment. They hit the road to escape death in a journey that takes them from Vegas into Arizona, then finally to a remote farm in Missouri. Other attempts are made on their lives as along the way their lust turns to love. The pair will make their stand on the farm, well aware the stakes are life and death.

He covered his face with both hands as if he could erase the memory. “They shot me as I knelt beside him, then again. I’d be dead, too, if it wasn’t for the fact an LVPD cruiser drove by on routine patrol. They whooped their sirens and stopped. As if it was now, Alec recalled the heat of the asphalt, the warmth of his blood mingled with his brother’s, Teo’s sightless eyes staring at nothing, and the way his life ebbed. Grief rose within with a wild fury, a force he could no longer deny, and sobs ripped from his soul. As he mourned, something in his soul shifted. After what seemed like forever but couldn’t have been long, he grew aware Maude spoke to him. Her quiet voice soothed him, but it also sparked desire.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I was impressed with the plot and enjoyed reading this book. The characters are strong pulled me in immediately. This is a story about revenge. Throw in the rescue of Maude and this book is perfect. They have an instant connection. Alec does everything he can to keep Maude safe and they go on the run. This is a fast paced read and I read it in one day! I will definitely be reading more from this author.

This is an intriguing story about Alejandro, Maude, murder and high stakes. Alec is an undercover ATF agent who wants venganza, translated to revenge, for his brother's death. When he rescues Maude he feels a pull and connection with her. The feeling is mutual and the attraction undeniable. As the run from the cartel then they find the attraction going. What will happen when they get to the farm? What will be their fate? I enjoyed every bit of this fast paced story. The characters are strong and likable and the plot captivating.

All Alejandro wanted was to get revenge for his brother’s murder but when he stumbles upon Maude he cannot stop himself from saving her. As they go on the run to try and outrun the cartel hunting them. A soul deep connection gives Alejandro a reason to live beyond revenge. Despite all the danger and uncertainty their love blossoms and grows. Plus their chemistry is off the charts and they find steamy ways to pass the time. Loved their well deserved HEA
