Poison Wolves MC, 3

Rocco rejected his mate. With all the trouble in Poison, he just doesn't have time to deal with the reclusive woman. He's not ready to be mated, so the easiest thing for him to do is reject her. Only, the club needed her, as did the pack.

Rose Swift was hurt. She had witnessed what it was like for real mates, but her mate didn’t even want to know her. So, when she’s asked to deal with the mess an insane doctor had created, she intends to steer well away from Rocco. He is not her mate, nor will he ever be. If only it was easier to deny him.

Rocco wants to keep his distance, but the way Rose smells, the way she looks—it’s like she’s a magnet, and he can't resist.

When one of Dr. Milton’s experiments comes crashing into the pack, there is something different about this one. He’s in control, he’s stable, and above all else, he somehow manages to become good friends with Rose. Rocco convinces himself he's only sticking around to protect her, but being around her is exactly what the wolf ordered.

Is there any way that Rose can forgive him? He will not turn his back on her again.

Excerpt:

Rose curled up in the armchair, and the small glow from the lamp cast enough light for her to read. It was dark outside, and she knew it was about time she went to bed. She was exhausted and couldn’t help but wonder if she was going to get a call to come and clean up messes.

Graham was not an unusual case, at least not to her. The guys had been happy with the progress with other humans, and she’d left for the day, only to be called back hours later when it had taken a sudden turn. It was one of the reasons she tried not to get close to anyone. Graham was the first one she had spoken to. He’d looked so calm in that cage, and yet she had known he was trying to keep it together so he wouldn’t lose his shit.

She couldn’t help but feel for him, for all of them.

Rose’s eyes started to close, and only a sudden knock at her door brought her out of her sleep. This had happened a few times, and once again she felt overwhelmed. Had Graham died?

She closed her book, placing it on the coffee table in front of her, bundling up the blanket, and making her way toward the main front door. Pulling it open, she saw Rocco on the front step, but he didn’t look grim. Instead, he carried a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

“Rocco?”

“I’m sorry,” he said.

She opened the door a little wider, and she frowned as she looked at the flowers. They looked wild, as if he had picked them himself, not gone to Chantel, the florist in town.

“What’s going on?”

“The florist was … closed, but what do you expect, it’s late, and I wanted to give you these so I could apologize. I don’t know what flowers you liked, but then I saw the wildflowers growing in your garden, I put two and two together, and you know, figured you might like that.”

“What are you doing?” she asked.

He held out the flowers but she didn’t take them.

Rose needed answers.

“I … I shouldn’t have spoken to you that way today. I’m sorry. I’m just … I’m so fed up with this shit, you know. It’s hard. They all come, and when they find us and we understand what is going on with them, it’s like we’re their miracle cure, only we’re the furthest from that.” He released a breath. “And then we have to see it through until the end, and that’s hard.”

She looked at him and the flowers. Part of her knew she should tell him to get lost, but she didn’t want to in that moment. Instead, she reached out and took them. “Thank you.”

“I have no idea what I’m doing,” Rocco said.

“And?”

“Would you like to go to the Poison Bar?” Rocco asked.

Rose frowned. “Are you asking me out on a date?”

“Yes.”

This time she lowered the flowers, focusing her attention on him. “What is going on?”

“I want us to go out, get a drink, talk.”

“What happened to neither of us telling anyone that we’re, you know, mates?” she asked.

Rocco gripped the back of his neck, and his face scrunched up. “Yeah, I, ugh, I don’t know what to say about that.”

This time Rose was amazed and couldn’t help but laugh. “Wow, so, we both come to the realization that we’re mates and our wolves want to connect, and that means we’re mated. You freak out and tell me in no uncertain terms will you ever settle down with one woman, or one wolf, that I am not enough for you, that you are embarrassed to even be mated to me because I’m a little reclusive for you. To make matters worse, you come to me with all the crap that is going on with this Milton doctor and his little experiment, to clean up your mess, and now you want to go on a date, and your only answer is you don’t know what you’re doing or what to say about it?” Rose was truly amazed.

“Okay, now that you say it like that, it sounds really bad.”

“I say it exactly how it sounds. Wow, you don’t see it, do you?”

“I do see it, and yes, it sounds bad, and there is no way I’m getting away from it, and I totally get that. I’ve not been the best … person in all of this, and I am truly sorry.”

Great story and Author
Written by Jennifer D on 3rd Dec 2024

Reading Rocco and Rose's story had me wanting to strangle Rocco. I wanted to knock sense into him and was happy when Graham stepped in. Watching these two fight each other and the bond along with everything going on around them had me turning pages so fast. I absolutely loved it.

being strong in her own way
Written by Thisbe on 3rd Dec 2024

This story is not only a love story but also contains the evil kinded experiments of a Dr, who infects humans to make them turn into wolves. Rose works as a 'cleaner', which seems to be fround upon by some. When Rocco, who has the task to help those humans, is mated to Rose he rejects her, because she is a recluse and he thinks he does not need a mate. Rose had high hopes when she would find her fated mate. After being rejected it is hard to see him again. When she befriends one of the 'experiments', who is more stable, Rocco can not deny his feelings for Rose forever. Will he be able to open his heart and even when, get a second chance? Rose is not only needed by Rocco but also by the pack. She has such a kind and strong heart.

Rose is is a recluse. She lives in cabin, away from the pack. Rose tends to her garden, and cans her vegetables. Her mate, Rocco rejects her. His words hurt her, and she keeps her distance. Rocco does not care, if he hurts his mate. There is danger in the pack territory. There are hybrid wolf humans, that are dangerous. When they cannot transition, they are killed by the pack. Graham, a wolf hybrid is caught on pack property. He informs the pack, that Dr. Milton has performed experiments on humans. Rose has built a good rapport with Graham. Can Rocco, and Rose help Graham? Will they become mates? I enjoyed reading this book! There is love, passion, and the helping of others.

Wolf shifter hotness!!!
Written by Kimmer555 on 3rd Dec 2024

Sam Crescent really did a great job on book 3 of Poison Wolves MC. Rocco and Rose have great chemistry but also a slow burn! There is tons of drama, deceit, desire, hot chemistry, angst, and all the MC Wolf shifters you can think of! Great writing, great story, the characters are easily relatable, and the spicy spice is hot! A great Book 3 of the series!

Undeniably mated
Written by Ngoziann on 3rd Dec 2024

Rocco didn’t want rose, but his wolf did. Rose and her wolf wanted Rocco, but she tried to ignore her inner wolf, and was succeeding until she was called in to help the pack. Rocco was jealous of how the newcomer and Rose got on. Rose had, had no friends till he came along, and somehow they became good friends. She did her best to help him. Rose, though quiet was strong in mind, Rocco seemed indecisive about Rose. His inner wolf called him to her, but he had verbally and mentally upset set her. How was he to show remorse and apologise for what he’d said. It was steamy in parts. I enjoyed this short book. I saw it an introduction to shifters. This was my first one.

Rocco and Rose
Written by LBing on 3rd Dec 2024

This is a fascinating addition to the series with the human mutant experiments throwing some of the pack into chaos. Rocco and Rose avoid each other after Rocco rejects her, mostly due to her being a recluse and him thinking he needed someone who is a 'joiner' to compliment his role in the pack. Ha! Fate knows best ;) Rose is reclusive as she's from a line of pack cleaners and she literally cleans anything - from after parties to blood and dead bodies... Of course, there's drama between these two, but also strong chemistry. This is a slower burn romance, which well makes sense, but I enjoyed them getting their HEA :D

Great complex story
Written by vickymeowmeow on 3rd Dec 2024

Story was hard to put down. characters are really entertaining and easy to like. Sex is moderately to well described but vanilla and doesn't get in the way of the multiple story lines. I enjoyed the complex nature of the characters and even those of the background characters. I can't wait to see what's next for Graham.

It was a good story
Written by LennaW on 3rd Dec 2024

Best to read in order, this might be a stand alone but I feel like I missed something in the past books that might have made sense in this one, like the ‘evil scientist/vet’. It was a good story but I didn’t follow parts of it since I didn’t read the prior stories. Rose is the pack cleaner, basically a cleaner when there are parties, hired from town’s businesses and the pack even bodies and blood, she’s a generational of a line of cleaners. Rocco is a member of the ‘biker’ club just not sure his position since the club just a pack of wolves. This started out months prior to the rest of the story where he followed a scent and found out it was the place cleaner & the recluse Rose and she is the exact opposite to Rocco and a virgin.

They are back!
Written by Anotherdayinparadise on 3rd Dec 2024

I was wondering if we were going to return to the Poison Wolves and it did not disappoint. The men of the Poison Wolves still are clueless when dealing with their fated mates and Rocco is not different. Storyline flowed good addition to the series.

Short and really good
Written by RhondaVB on 3rd Dec 2024

I was so mad at Rocco for rejecting Rose as his mate, but you know that he will regret this. The story had me hooked and while it's sort of a slow burn, it's so good!!!When someone comes and becomes friends with Rose, Rocco knows he screwed up and wants Rose back, but will she protect her heart from getting hurt by him again or will she finally give in?

Making things right
Written by Bookbunny on 3rd Dec 2024

Rocco didn’t need a mate. They were too busy with the humans mutating. She would only be a distraction, plus she was a recluse. Rose thought finding her mate would be a dream. It turned into a nightmare. His rejection of her stung, but she wasn’t about to let him break her. She may be the “cleaner” of the pack, but she will stay clear of him. It always happens that the rejector has remorse and realizes they screwed up. Rose is a sweetheart and does her job well. Yes, she keeps to herself. Who would want to befriend a “cleaner.” It’s when they stumble upon a human that seems to be able to hold to the mutation when things change. Graham is totally different. I have to say, I rooted for him too. Roses kindness makes him a valuable friend. Rocco isn’t too thrilled though. Why is it that when Rose has an idea to try and save the humans Alpha always rejects it. Draco has his own issues, and you never know what is going on in his head. A lot of the story is really action packed and the turning point will have you grabbing tissue. I was praying with the pack too. Thank goodness Rocco learned about to be a better mate and make things right. Rose is more of a value to the pack then they even realize.

This book is freaking amazing!!!
Written by Andrea R on 3rd Dec 2024

This book was exceptional. The story was so engaging and believe me I am a HUGE sucker for a rejected mate story. This one was a great addition to the Poison series for sure--can't wait for Draco and Alpha's stories!!

Men will be men!!
Written by Laura S. on 3rd Dec 2024

Rocco is only concerned with the present and how things fit in. He isn't thinking about the future or how his actions might impact others. Rose, being somewhat of a recluse, just doesn't fit in with what he thinks he wants or needs at the present, and being rather short-sighted, he lets her know how he feels, which is not very nice at all! I like Rose's response though; she might be a loner, but she is not a pushover by any means! Their give and take throughout the story is rather humorous; she really makes him work for any interaction with her! The story is continued from previous couple's stories; so we already know most of the key players in the story already. This is a very enjoyable story; even better if you already know the background from the previous stories! Enjoy!

The Poison Wolves MC grapples with the aftermath of a deranged scientist’s experiments on humans. These unfortunate individuals, altered beyond repair, find their way into the Poison Wolves' territory—only to face gruesome and unavoidable deaths, despite the pack's efforts to help them. Rocco, a loyal member of the pack, has witnessed several tragic endings and believes it might be more merciful to spare the infected from prolonged suffering. Meanwhile, Rose, the pack's cleaner, inherited her grim responsibilities from her parents and regularly deals with the horrifying aftermath of the infected humans' demise. When Rocco discovers that Rose is his fated mate, his immediate reaction is to reject her, fearing the complications it might bring. This decision leads to a year of avoidance and emotional tension between them. However, their paths cross again when Graham, one of the latest infected humans, recognizes the bond they share. Determined to save Graham from the inevitable fate that has claimed so many others, Rose and Rocco form a fragile alliance and work together to give him a fighting chance. As they spend more time together, Rocco begins to understand the depth of his mistake in pushing Rose away. With danger looming and their connection growing stronger, he is determined to earn her forgiveness and prove himself worthy of being her mate. This book delivers a gripping mix of action, heartbreak, and redemption, keeping readers hooked until the very end. The chemistry between Rose and Rocco, paired with the high stakes of their mission, makes for an unforgettable story that fans of the series will thoroughly enjoy. I really hope Draco gets a story in the near future.

Written by Sua on 3rd Dec 2024

Great story love seeing the aftermath of when Graham rejects Rose and how things are between them throughout the story. Following in roses shoe really kept me going throughout the story between how she felt being rejected and how she felt being with the pack because of what she does for the pack.

Another great Poison Wolves story
Written by Reensburger on 3rd Dec 2024

I love Sam's Poison Wolves MC series and this book was a great addition. We've met Rocco in previous books, he's fun loving and outgoing. However when he realises that his mate is none other than reclusive cleaner Rose, he does the unthinkable. Rejects her. Sure he has a lot going on, what with all Dr Miltons experiments finding them, and then promptly dying, but that's no excuse. Especially as Rose thinks she might an idea to save them. Great read, really enjoyed the story and loved Graham. Can't wait for the next one!

Rose and Rocco
Written by Michelle E on 3rd Dec 2024

Rose is a loner and not part of a pack. Rocco rejects her, and they struggle every time they see each other. Rose helps the pack and forms a friendship working against a common enemy, Dr. Milton, who is trying but failing to turn humans into shifters. While working with the pack, Rocco gets jealous and comes to realize his mistake. The story is a bit of a slow burn, but the character arc and excellent writing make it engaging and suspenseful.

Great story
Written by PHOENIX96 on 3rd Dec 2024

Rocco was tasked with helping the humans that had been infected by Dr Milton to turn into wolves as of yet none had been successful. Rose was a recluse and a cleaner for the pack, called upon to clear up after the failed turns. When Rocco scented Rose was his mate he rejected her, breaking her heart, and suffering each time they had to see each other. When one of Milton's experiments turns up at the pack and seems to be more in control, they find a friendship with Rose, and Roccos not happy and is determined to protect Rose, but can he win her back after realising his mistake or has it been to late? Well written engaging, slow burn, rejected mates, second chances and more a great addition to the series and you'll just love Grahem!

A Definite Yes!
Written by BookHound76 on 3rd Dec 2024

If ever there was a MMC that evoked a primal response in the reader it would be Rocco. I don't care what his reason was for not accepting his mate, but WHO in their right bloody mind looks at their mate and says "Oh Hell No." Rocco this is where you open your mouth, insert foot, and start digging your grave because you deserve all the humble pie you're about to be choking on when you realize your damned mistake! I believe a good book is judged bow how well it makes you feel emotions. A character either makes me loves them or pisses me off. If I feel nothing, then it just wasn't a good read.
