Five years I have been held captive by the hunters. Tortured and experimented on. I have lived through things I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy.
All hope has fled, and my wolf has receded so far into my mind that she may never resurface. I have finally given up on ever seeing the outside world again. But the impossible happens and we are rescued.
Now, the Katu pack has taken us in but not everything is as easy as it seems.
Excerpt:
Standing in the middle of a field, I stare at everything around me. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath, filling my lungs before releasing it once more. Nico stares at me but doesn’t say a word, allowing me to enjoy the moment.
Deep within my soul, I feel my wolf stir for the first time in years. Maybe Nico was right and I should just give us both the time we need to heal. She isn’t back all the way but knowing she is still there offers me some comfort.
“What do you think?” Nico asks once we reach the waterfall.
“It’s stunning,” I whisper. “I’ve never seen anything so beautiful.”
The waterfall pours from high upon the cliff until it reaches the small pool beneath. The sound is soothing and the water beckons me. White and yellow water lilies float on the surface making the entire scene seem like something out of a dream.
“Neither have I.”
When I face him, I find that he isn’t looking at the scenery but at me. I blush, heat creeping across my chest and face. No man has ever paid me this much attention. The Hunters didn’t fraternize with the captives, something I’m more grateful for than words can express. At least I never had to worry about being assaulted in that way. We were all beneath them and I can honestly say I have never been so grateful for other people’s prejudices. I remember when I was first taken, praying I wouldn’t be a victim of sexual assault.
Now, I am more grateful than ever. Of all the things wrong with my mind and my body, at least that isn’t part of it. One less hurdle to get over before I can start my new life.
“I really want to ask you to take a swim with me but I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Nico says before looking away from me.
My heart breaks a little but I don’t tell him that.
“I can feel your sadness, Emmaleigh. I don’t need to be mated to you to know what you are feeling,” he says cupping my face. “Don’t for a second think I don’t want to swim with you, spend time with you, or do dirty things to you. I never want to let you out of my sight again. But my wolf is volatile and wants to get to you and I won’t risk losing control.”
“Oh.”
I am shocked by his blatant honesty. He doesn’t hold anything back and seems to always say what he is thinking. It’s refreshing and scary at the same time. Thinking of this male in any kind of sexual situation has my blood heating and my pussy weeping. If I was a stronger woman I would beg him to take me now, but I don’t. Hopefully I will be able to do that someday soon.
“Could we just sit on those rocks with our feet in the water?” I ask, hoping to change the subject and get my mind of all the dirty thoughts I’m having.
“Anything,” he says placing a kiss on the crown of my head.
She has been captured for five years. The pain and torture she’s experienced has her wolf withdrawn. Soo sad. Over an hour read. And . She never thinks she will be free. Hey Nico. He says he smells dragon fruit and something like his mate! What an adventure. But that only started they wild n shifter story. Loved it. A little shift never hurt anybody.
This a short and steamy bite . She has been kept and tortured for years by hunters and one day explosions rocks the compound. Her tormentor tries to kill her before she is rescued but her fated mate shows up and saves her. Will she accept him and heal and move forward. Or is she too broken.
This entertaining Book 7 in the Katu Wolves Book Series has a wonderful story and unique characters. These characters have engaging personalities, detailed histories, and believable interactions. This is a stand-alone book, but it is better if you read them in order. This story has twists, turns, danger, adventure, and a HEA. This is a must read book and series.
I wish this book was longer!! It was very well written as usual, and the characters are fantastic. I love that the author has continued to add on to the world of the Katu wolves. The world building around the wolves as well as the Hunters makes this series that much better by bringing the words to life.
I've read a lot of books written by Jade Marshall; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is the seventh book in the Katu Wolves Series; it can be read as a stand-alone but would be much better if read in order.
Nico and Emmaleigh. Shes been inprisoned for years and still she begs for mercy. The hunters are monsters saying the shifters are monsters and pump their bodies with poison without killing them put to punish and torment. A voice from the other cell says someone will come for us I know it, while shes been there over a year. Emma calls her capturers Man one, two, three and four. He was once part of the Hatcher pack. Their alpha tried to kill the Katu packs alpha and steal his mate but he and others were welcomed into their pack. They are sent on a mission. While at the house of the Hunters the smell takes his breath away. His mate. Man 2 is choking her and all goes black. She wakes and knows shes not in her cell when the door opens and she crouchs in the corner. Nico must give his mate room to acclimate. What if shes broken and wont except him. What if shes a fighter.
This is the seventh story in the "Katu Wolves" series. It can be enjoyed as a stand alone read. However, you may get more out of the series if they are read in order. This is the story of Nico and Emmaleigh. As the story opens you hear the pleas of Emmaleigh that break your heart. There is a possible trigger in this one but the author handles it nicely. Nico and his fellow pack members are closing in on a house one of the hunters kept its victims in. His wolf is on alert and can no longer be contained when they since their mate. Nico is so kind and patient with Emmaleigh. I love how the whole pack is with the three survivors. This is a fairly short and quick read with some steam. I so wanted more but enjoyed their story. It develops nicely with some angst, drama and a bit more. PLEASE tell me the next story is coming and coming quick because this one does end with a WHAT???

Nico sexy as all get out shifter has waited years for his mate coming from a background that isn’t favorable but he found a pack that accepts him just for him and when he goes to help shut down one of the hunters he** hole one sniff his wolf goes crazy because his mate is in there and he is willing to do anything to get her / protect her. Waking up realizing she has a mate he sees past all that is wrong with her, helps her understand she is broken in fact she is super strong also finding out they saved her friends is a boost but can she accept her new normal, is it really her father they found, will she understand she is one of the strongest out there, what happens to her friends, will they save more from the prisons they are locked away in, and can she find a little peace….a little happiness?

This is the story of Emmaleigh and Nico. Emmaleigh has been tortured and held captive for over five years. After all these years of pain, fear and sadness, she wants to give up because she thinks she will never get out of here, she will be rescued and together with her others. And that's the moment she meets Nico and he knows she is his partner. A great book that I definitely recommend to everyone.
Wow, so good! I have read other novels by this author and loved them and this novel did not disappoint. I love a good paranormal fated mate novel and this novel just hit the spot for me. Loved it! I started reading and I could not put it down. From the first chapter I was pulled into this novel and I just needed to know what was coming next even if I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. Emmaleigh had such a hard time, she has been captured and tortured by hunters for the past five years. She has almost given up when she and the others are rescued by the Katu Wolves. I love Nico. I loved how he recognized Emmaleigh right away as his mate. I loved how caring and protective he was of her. Their chemistry was so good! I can't wait to see what this author has coming next.

Nico is trying to help take down the hunters one safe house at a time. That is when he finds his mate. This was a really good book but WTF that ending.

It wasn't hard to feel sorry for Emmaleigh given what she went through, or to feel for Nico who knew that patience was key in this fated mates romance.
Such a great book! I loved it and couldn't put it down! Enjoyed every word and will totally check out more by Marshall
On a rescue mission Nico locates his fated mate. But will she accept him? Is she broken? Emmaleigh has given up on life in the hell hole of a prison she is in. Rescue is unbelievable and a mate too far. Is this too much for Emmerleigh? Can Nico get through to her? A good short read.
Book seven in the series was good. I enjoyed the storyline. I was happy when she got rescues. Nico and Emmaleigh are wonderful characters. this is a must read series. a whole page turner.
This was another great addition to the Katu Wolves series. The character work and story line were well written and kept me entertained.

Nico, is with the Katu Wolves pack, he can smell his mate so close yet so far away down in the basement where it remains dark, he heads off to find his mate, now he has to get to his mate before the humans come back. This is definitely worth reading.
Once I started reading this book, I became hooked to the point where I could set my kindle down until I finished the book. I thought A Rescued Mate to be both suspenseful and a page-turning novella. Even though this is a quick novella story, it does the story justice in the way that the reader can still fully enjoy an amazing shifter, fated mate novella. I absolutely fell in love with Emmaleigh and Nico, they are both amazing characters. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading these kind of fun shifter romance books.

You can read it as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend you read the others in the series as characters from former books make appearances. Emmaleigh has been held captive for five years enduring great torture, but is rescued by the Katu wolves. Though he is aware that they're fated mates, Nico is prepared to give Emmaleigh all the time she needs to heal. Is love and patience enough to heal Emmaleigh?
This is Nico and Emmaleigh's story. They are wolf shifters. It starts with a rescue mission in which Nico and his pack storm a hunters facility to rescue fellow shifters being held captive and they are being experimented/tortured. Once inside Nico realized his fated mate is inside and in danger. Will Nico get to her in time to save her or is the damage already so great that she is broken? Can they shut down the hunters once and for all or is the task too much? Check it out to see. I found this tale quite entertaining.
Nico is a strong and caring wolf. He was not originally from the Katu pack, however having his pack absorbed into the Katu pack is the best thing to happen to him. He will do anything to support his new pack. Emmaleigh has been held captive and tortured for 5 years. She as helped and supported the other captive but she is just about at the end of her desire to keep going. Salvation comes when they are rescued. These are both supportive wolves and it was great reading how they found each other and grow with each other.
I am really enjoying this series, and this book didn't disappoint. And the end...ufff...I really feel all what the heroine was going through. And all the new discoveries. Wow!

Characters were good. FMC suffered a lot of abuse but there was no dwelling or overpowering heaviness. Story focused mainly on her recovery and reintegration with the pack. I really enjoyed the hook at the end setting up the next story.
I don't normally start in the middle of a series, but I love this author, so I read it. I'm addicted now, and will have to get the other books when I can. lol. Emmaleigh has been held my the hunters for five years now and is wishing for death. She is tortured daily by them and can barely hear her wolf now. Rose and Thomas aren't doing well either, but Rose still has hope as she only has been there for a year. Finally, some of the Katu wolves arrive to fight for their freedom. Nico is one of those wolves and he notices Emmaleigh's scent and recognizes her as his mate right away. Things get a bit crazy after that. The book made me giggle, laugh, cry, chew on my nails and put the AC on because Emmaleigh and Nico are hot together. I need to catch up with the other books and I can't wait for the next one.
A quick novella, continuing the Katu Wolves series, it can be read as a standalone, though includes characters from previous books. It follows a new couple, I have only read one of the previous books so far and was still able to make sense of the storyline. A Rescued Mate does introduce a question and the end that I am going to need answers for, so will definitely be reading the next book/s. I really enjoyed this story, Emmaleigh has gone through so much and is not sure whether her wolf will come back to her and doesn't think she is worthy of her newly found mate, Nico who helped rescue her from imprisonment/ experimentation. Nico is great, he is an Alpha who just wants his mate, but recognises the need to be patient and caring and he will do whatever he can to support Emmaleigh's recovery. I am hoping for an eventual story for Thomas who is introduced in this book, the sweet young shifter deserves his happly ever after for sure.
I loved this book and this whole series!!! Jade Marshall is just a chef’s kiss to writing PNR!!! I love how all the books are interconnected but can be read as standalones. I recommend staying from the beginning, you will not be disappointed!!! This books storyline is original and has all the drama, suspense and spice!!! The characters were complex, had heartbreaking backstories and had an instant chemistry. I couldn’t put this book down until the end and I so can’t wait to see what happens next!!! This was a great story and fun to read. The characters were likable except for the buy guys. I can’t wait for the next book. The ending of this one was crazy.

This was really quite the touching story that goes from hard trauma and torture to a wonderful fated mates romance. Emmaleigh has lost all hope and is wishing for death after the years of torture she's experienced at the hands of the hunters. Nico is part of the group attacking the hunter stronghold when he scents his mate. She wouldn't accept mating him until she's able to reconnect with her wolf, which has been missing for years. Thankfully, Nico is not only kind, he's also patient. Their hard earned HEA was wonderful but the author left us with a shocking ending and I cannot wait for the next book! ;D
Nico and others storm an old farmhouse that houses Hunters and three shifters being held captive. He senses his mate and gets Emmaleigh out. Slowly the backstories of Thomas, Rose and Emmaleigh come out and the twists are intriguing. They had fun getting the captured Hunter to talk. Great characters, old and new, with boldness, steam and plenty of sass. Em is definitely a survivor and helps so much. The danger, grief, changes of view, deep feelings and surprises keep the pages turning. The ending comes with an astounding surprise. Please hurry with the next book in the series.
I really adore the author and her writing style is just so real. This story was so very well written that it draws you in and hooks you right at the start. This series just seems to keep getting better and better and I can't wait for the next one.

A Rescued Mate is one of the most engaging entries in Marshall’s Katu Wolves series. Sometimes the short length of these books makes it hard to build up the characters, but that’s not the case here. Emmaleigh has been a victim of the Hunters (the human antagonists to the wolf packs in Marshall’s world), and while rescuing her and others from the compound where they’ve been held, Nico recognizes she’s his mate. What I loved here is that both Emmaleigh and Nico are adrift. His pack has been decimated by Hunters and forced to merge with others, while she’s been tortured to the point that her wolf is in full retreat. But Nico has begun to heal and see a future in his new pack, while Emmaleigh is fully entrenched in her pain and suffering. So Nico has to see if not only he can wait for her, but whether her wolf will ever again emerge. Marshall makes Emmaleigh’s pain palpable, but she also shows her core of strength in her care for others who were trapped with her. Nico has to demonstrate both patience and the ability to nurture if he wants to ensure a future with Emmaleigh. Like all the books in this series, A Rescued Mate is a quick read, but it’s easily one of the most gripping of the Katu Wolves books.
A beautiful moving storyline that may touch issues you don’t like but is portrayed in such a way that it’s needed! Losing all hope and praying for death, mentally and physically damaged after years of captivity, Emmaleigh is reluctant to mate with Nico after being rescued. Nico was all in and so patient that she was determined to fight for their HEA. A wonderful shifter read with an unexpected ending that will make you gasp!
Emmaleigh has been captured by the hunters they are experimenting on her and other shifters that are there she can bearly hear her wolf and wondering when she is going to die and when she is ready to let go she is saved by her mate but Emmaleigh believes that she is too broken to have a mate and that doesn’t matter to Nico he will do whatever he needs to make Emmaleigh feel safe. I loved this story and the characters and I highly recommend this book.
This story continues the story of the Kati Wolves and their fight against the Hunters. This quick read features Nico, a transplant from a pack that no longer exists and Em, a survivor of the Hunter torture. Great read and it ends on a little cliffhanger.
Em was held capitve by the hunters for 5 years and slowly losing her wolf, until the Katu pack saves her with Nico and the helm, having joined the pack after his perished. well written engaing steamy great addition to the series
Emmaleigh and Nico ( Nico from the Hatcher pack) are now in the Katu pack... I enjoyed this story. Evan, in the darkest of places, your fated mate will find you.
You know those stories that keep you engaged and coming back every time you put it down? This is that with a surprise ending that had me wanting more! There is salvation for the lost, healing for the broken, and love to be found. I enjoyed the fact that there were just enough steamy scenes to make me blush but not so much it overwhelmed the story. Worth the read!
I read this on its own, easy to follow and all makes sense but I’m sure it would be much better if you have read the others in the series before it. Emmaleigh is an amazing young women who with a little help can excel and Nico is everything she needs. Well worth a read.
Emmaleigh has been held captive for five years and has been subjected to constant testing and experimentation. Her wolf has been gone for the past three years and Em's only hope is that she will die and the torture will finally end. Unexpectedly, Emmaleigh is rescued from the Hunters by the Katu Wolves. Nico was part of the raid to take down the Hunter testing site and immediately knew his mate was held captive. He saves her but fears the damage from the Hunters will make her reject their mating. This was another great story in the Katu Wolves continuing saga. I look forward to future stories and recommend this author, this story, and this series to anyone who enjoys shifter books.
Although a short read, it’s sweet with plenty of plot and suspense. Well written with good characters and dialogue. An fun read
