Excerpt:

He was standing, still shirtless, against a tree, wearing that damn smug look of his. “What are you doing here?”

“I heard you stomping around and came to investigate.” Wolf shrugged, then ran his long fingers through his hair. Hansel imagined how it would feel to have those long fingers wrapped around his cock.

For the first time, Hansel realized he was naked and made a desperate grab for his clothes. He thought he’d love being naked in front of Wolf, but not like this. Almost falling over, he pulled his pants up his legs, gritting his teeth, trying not to get too horny. Once he was dressed, he met Wolf’s eyes.

“Do you usually spy on people when they’re bathing?” he asked.

“Only when they moan my name in their sleep.”

“W-what?” Hansel sputtered, wondering how the hell he could have known that. This was more embarrassing than being caught naked. Worst of all was that twinkle in his eye, making him feel like a joke more than ever.

“Never mind.” Wolf waved his words away. “I’m here to see if I can talk you into going back to the village. These two killed my entire family. They won’t have a problem murdering a single man, no matter how big and burly you are.”

“What is with you?” Frustrated, Hansel stomped his foot, all bull with no horns. “I’m not going anywhere until I kill this wolf.”

In two long strides, Wolf crossed the distance between them and pinned him against a tree. He dropped his voice to a whisper. “Or the wolf gets you.”

Hansel swallowed, wishing for the lip-searing kiss of his dreams, but Wolf was already pulling back, stepping out of his way.

“If the wolf gets me, he gets me.” Hansel’s voice was low and husky. “It’s my choice to stay.”

“They’re going to kill you, I hope you know.” It could have been Hansel’s imagination, but he could swear that sadness crept into his voice. “I can only protect you for so long.”

“I don’t need you to protect me.” Before his dick could harden, he pressed a cold hand against his forehead, hoping the chills would seep down into him and keep him from making a tent of his pants. “I have my ax. I’m fine.”

“We’ll see about that.” Wolf spoke with a warning in his tone.

Trying to not let Wolf shake him up, he walked by, heading back to the house. But something large and slimy was swimming around in his belly, and he tightened his grip on the ax for the hundredth time, wondering whose blood would wet the blade. Hopefully not his own.

I Enjoyed It
Written by Nina D on 16th Apr 2023

“Don’t mess with a woodcutter, bltch.” I loved the concept of this book- a retelling/mashup between Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel plus a MM romance and a wolf shifter? Yes please! I loved how this author combined and weaved together the two fairytales. Hansel and Wolf had such great chemistry. I couldn't wait to see how it would turn out. 4 stars.

Fairytale mash up retelling
Written by Laora on 16th Apr 2023

The mash up of both Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel was a good find, and boy did I need to hold my ? reflex at some of the scenes in regards to the witches. Along these scenes I was more than happy to delve into the story of atraction to more between Wolf and Hansel towards their revenge and hea.

Hansel and Wolf
Written by casvec on 16th Apr 2023

Big Bad Wolf is a twist of Hansel and Gretel with the mix of grandma from Little Red, add in steamy heat as Hansel and Wolf connect, and this is a fairy tale like no other. This was an unusual story that I was not expecting.

Disturbingly Twisted Retelling
Written by JennT on 16th Apr 2023

This story is a retelling of Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood, with a MM romance plot line and some pretty dark twists. Hansel is a woodcutter who agrees to help Gretel get rid of the wolf. But things aren’t as they appear - the wolf is Wolf, a shifter, and Gretel and Grammie are mighty suspicious. I liked Hansel, he seemed like a good guy just trying to do the right thing, but smart enough to pivot when needed. A quick read, packed with steam and twisted fairy tale tellings.

2 Fairy-tales in 1
Written by Beast's Beauty on 16th Apr 2023

I have to say that having Red Riding Hood & Hansel and Gretal told as one story was a seriosu suprise. Now that I have read this from the standpoint of Hansel, being the woodsman/woodcutter is a new and very intersting view. Penelop Rivers intertwined two stories i to one that not only explain the grandma and Gretal but also Hansel's involvemenet with the wolf in both stories. I love the switcheroos of who was aligned with who and the magic throughout the separate stories into one. Great and intersting retelling.

Hansel, starts thinking and has many questions. There Hansel has a lot of questions and his spidey senses are tingling. The wolf creates more questions. It appears that everything is not as it seems. Different in a good way
Written by SMK9 on 5th Mar 2023

I was not sure what to expect out of this mashup of fairy tales, but I was pleasantly surprised. It has a touch of Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel and the Big Bad Wolf. It turns out the wolf was not the bad one after all, it is Gretel and her evil grammie! Hansel gets lured to their home in a secluded section of the woods outside of town. He is a woodcutter and they need him to dispatch the wolf that is prowling around their home. When strange events at the house begin to surface, Hansel begins to wonder what he has gotten into and if he should return to his small space in town. Then he comes face to face with Wolf and he begins to understand what is going on, much to his horror. As he and Wolf spend some time together, it becomes clear that they want each other but can a man that turns into a wolf want a human not to mention the two wicked witches they need to dispense of. Grab this quick read and find out what all transpires and how it is handled. You will also get to see if the two men survive and make a HEA with each other.

Could Hansel pull this off?
Written by Anne H on 5th Mar 2023

Could Hansel pull this off? Hansel is a wood cutter and he get stopped by a girl to help him kill a wolf that is scaring her and her granny. He explained he’s not a wolf catcher but of course he will help and walks a little girl back through the forest to where they live. Her name is Gretel and she gives him sweets as a way of thanking him. Then he goes out looking for the wolf. At night they try to give him some more sweets for food but what he wants is the meat that they are eating but they say no. The next day Hansel comes across a man who is just wearing trousers. And he is rugged and beautiful. What Hansel hasn’t told anyone is he’s more attracted to men but he knows that will get him killed. There is just something about this man. He tries to warn him to leave but Hansel says no and Keith looking for the wolf. Will you ever come across the wolf?? And can he trust Gretel and the granny?? Well this book is very much like Hansel and Gretel chucking in Little Red Riding Hood. And I’ve Gotta say I enjoy the book I really enjoyed the chemistry that Hansel had with the gentleman called Wolf. They really did have great chemistry and passion.

4 steamy fairytale stars
Written by Julia A on 5th Mar 2023

Little red riding hood meets Hansel and Gretel meets steamy werewolf (sex). I really liked this little novella. It was intriguing with a bit of twists and turns and a few steamy scenes. And the whole thing was wrapped up in a cute, little bow in the form of an epilogue. Highly recommend! If you're looking for a somewhat steamy M/M wolf shifter retelling of Little red riding hood AND Hansel and Gretel, then you just have to read this.

A Spin on Old Fairytales
Written by DLB2572 on 5th Mar 2023

This is being rounded up from 3.5 for me. It was a decent read that was a new spin on a few fairytale in one story. It wasn't bad in the end.
