Excerpt:

No woman provoked him the way Julianne did. First she outbid Philipe, his dealer, and purchased the amulet Gérard sought. Then, she sold it to him, failing to disclose it was one of the imitations and not the authentic one he needed. Did she really think refunding him would solve the matter? She took a step toward the elevator but he tightened his hold on her, forcing her to remain where she stood.

Fury burned him inside out and the vein in his neck pulsed. “You’d do well in briefing your lawyer.” His voice hardened. “Because if you don’t stay the hell out of my way at auctions I won’t hesitate to sue your ass.”

He wrapped his arm around her waist, crushing her body to his, then closed his mouth on hers, punishing her with his kiss.

“Stop this,” Julianne said, not fighting him.

Gérard slid his hand up her back until he reached her neck. He lifted her off her feet by a few inches, and backed her to the wall. “Do you really want me to stop?” he asked, brushing his lips against hers as he spoke.

“Gérard…”

“Do you want me to stop?” He had no intention of stopping, just quite the opposite.

“N-No,” she whispered.

“You must stop pursuing the same items I want, Jules.” Gérard held her face, and he covered her mouth with his once more. Her lips were soft and warm, waking up every cell in his body. “Do you understand?” He dragged his hands down her front then cupped her breasts, his thumbs rubbing her nipples until the tips poked through her dress’s fabric.

Gérard broke the kiss and brushed his lips along her jaw. “Don’t defy me because you will lose.” He made his way to her earlobe. “It’s a promise,” he whispered. She’d go on a date with another man but he’d ensure she only thought of him, of his words.

“Do you miss me?” he asked, grazing her earlobe with his teeth.

“I-I.”

“Do you miss us, Jules?” His thumb and forefinger squeezed her nipple.

“Y-yes,” she said.

Gérard captured her mouth, his tongue breaking through the barrier of her lips, taking what belonged to him, demanding her surrender, and reminding her she would always be his.

Breaking the kiss, he grabbed her hand and guided her to his hardened cock. “It’s been a long year and I want to be inside you so much it hurts.” He cupped her sex; her heat slipped through the thin fabric of her dress, branding his palm. “Soon, I’m going to make love to you again. Until then,” he traced her lips with the tip of his tongue, “Jules, don’t let another man touch you.”

Gérard pressed his lips to hers, kissing her one more time. Anger and jealousy swirled within him as he walked to the elevator. He stepped in the lift and pressed the button to the lobby. Not looking back at Julianne was one of the hardest things he’d done today. It’d been one fucking year since they broke up. A year since she set out on a quest to give him hell, acquiring from right under his nose the fine art and antiques he sought.

It’d been her way of getting back at him for his betrayal. Picking his battles and putting his energy to good use in other things, he’d allowed her to continue to provoke him to a certain extent—because wooing her back remained in his plans. He gave her time to come to her senses, to let it go, and give their relationship a chance again. And what for? For another fucking idiot to sweet talk her? No way in hell he’d let another man have her, not until he proved to her things between them were far from over.

Beautiful
Written by heidi on 6th Oct 2015

I was gifted a copy of this book via netgalley in exchange for my honest thoughts and a review. Evie Knight is a new author to me so i went in to this book with a clear and opened mind. Colin Hoskins is a world famous classical violinist, but he is tainted by his past. Colin is very angry at life, And still unable to move beyond the betrayal he suffered from his dead fiancé, he is swearing off from ever performing or falling in love again. Know all he wants is to be left well alone, except no one listens to him. Especially this beautiful assistant he can’t fire even though he wants to, he cant get her out of his mind and now his body is burning up to claim her. Ariel Parks is stranded worried and in a strange foreign country, Ariel is a bankrupted heiress and is in desperate need for a job to fund her way home. Know she has one and is an Assistant of sorts to the musician she has found herself fantasising about for a number of years, This sounds like a dream job. Ariel has never imagined that this gorgeous genius would be a recluse. But her real problem is the way every nerve in her body tingles at the mention of his name and the mere sight of him makes her weak. I really enjoyed this book, Colin and his weird ways, i loved his possessiveness and his passion, The characters are very well written and the depth to them are great. I enjoyed Ariel and how she never gave up on Colin even if she caved in a bit to easily but hey all women are different. I found this book hard to put down. Colin did on occasions make me angry at times with his out bursts of jealousy and how he in between treated Ariel like she was at fault when she wasn't. But I loved that when he knew he had stuffed up and made a mistake and he worked hard to get Ariel to forgive him. Ariel yes she is sweet but in no way is she a doormat, i love how she makes sure that Colin knows he did something wrong. 4 Out Of 5 Hearts From Cariad Books

Love conquers all

Ever since I read Ariel's Song by Evie Knight and noticed the sparks between Gerard Laurent and Julianne Hoskins, I've wanted to read their story. I got my wish with her newest release, Gerard's Quest. Boy, these two were way stubborn for their own good. I adored Gerard because despite everything Julianne did to him out of revenge, you could see how much he loved her. Granted, he did her wrong when they were in a relationship and let his desire to obtain an amulet become more important than her feelings. I admit Julianne drove me crazy at times with her schemes and trying to out-maneuver Gerard at every turn. She even got herself in quite a mess and we got to meet an intriguing secondary character, AJ. I really liked how Gerard would not give up on his pursuit of Julianne in hopes of getting another chance with her. I liked how protective he was of her once he realized she's gotten way over her head with what AJ has involved her in concerning the amulet. I enjoyed the foreplay and sexy times but I thought the sex act ended too quickly; I would have liked the sex scenes be stretched out a bit more. I loved the romantic surprise Gerard gave Julianne which made me swoon. Overall, I enjoyed this story and it was nice to see Colin, Ariel and Logan making their appearance in this book. It looks like AJ will be getting his own story next but the story I really want is Logan's.
