As the activity outside resumed, she crept over to Sid. He was silent now. If he stayed that way, maybe they’d be okay until dusk.
But just as she drew near, Sid thrashed again in his sleep. He whispered a name, “Malory.” Then he opened his mouth to yell it louder.
Ria clapped her hand over his mouth. Sid’s eyes flew open. She felt the scrape of impossibly sharp teeth against the palm of her hand.
Wetness shocked her. She glanced down to see a drop of blood hit the bottom of the container. Sid’s eyes widened further. Then his tongue flicked out to lick the blood from her palm.
A shudder of pleasure rippled through her. How could one brush of his tongue on her palm send a bolt of desire straight to her core? She wanted to pull her hand away, but she was afraid of doing anything that might draw the attention of anyone outside. She was also terrified of doing something that might inflame Sid’s desire for her blood.
