Ruin needs to kill a woman.
A beautiful woman with blue eyes and raven hair.
And he has no idea why.

He is the one they call when they need to clean up a mess. He's the bogeyman.
But Callie Lawson is one target he doesn’t think he can handle. Why would a mafia capo want her dead? She's a woman who has nothing and no one—a mundane existence that involves knitting. That's all. He has to find everything out about her. He can't get Callie out of his mind. And he can’t kill her.

Before losing her parents years ago, Callie promised her mother she would try to live her life. For the longest time she avoided it all, but not anymore. When a mysterious man sits with her and asks for her help knitting, Callie is struck by the handsome stranger.

Callie has never fallen in love but when it comes to Ruin, he makes her feel everything. He makes her want to live.
What will happen when the truth comes out? Will Ruin be able to save Callie from the monsters, or will he end up being the one to kill her?

Excerpt:

It didn’t take Ruin long to get the bolts installed. He’d put the screwdrivers in his car and all the equipment he’d needed to get her apartment safe, not that a few bolts would truly protect her, but it was a start. Once he finished, he checked to make sure they all worked, and was happy with it. He stood up, picked up the empty bags, and turned toward her. She had gone and made him a second cup of coffee and she held it for him.

“You didn’t need to do that.”

Ruin took the coffee from her and placed the empty bags in her hands. She left and he followed her to the kitchen. She tossed the bags into a trash bin. He also spotted she had a recycle bin as well.

“You couldn’t install them, and what kind of a gentleman would I be if I left you here at risk?”

She frowned. “I’ve been living here for years and I’ve been fine.”

“Luck runs out, Callie.”

Her lips opened and closed. He wanted them around his cock, sucking him in deep.

“Oh, er, how much do I owe you for the tools?”

He put the coffee on the counter and stepped toward her. She moved back and he got in close so that he stood right in front of her. “How about a kiss?”

“A kiss? You had to kiss for the tools?”

He chuckled. “No, I paid money for the tools, but trust me, I’d be getting a better deal.”

“You would?”

“Yes.”

“How?” she asked.

He reached out and stroked some of the hair behind her ear. “Because I know how good those lips taste and I want another one, Callie.” Ruin cupped her cheek and ran his thumb across her lips. “They are so tempting. They’re designed to be kissed.” He released a little groan. “Didn’t you like our kiss last night?”

He had a feeling she did, judging by how red her cheeks were.

“Yes. I did.”

“So what is wrong with me kissing you?”

“Nothing, but I don’t want you to be out of pocket for the tools.”

“I won’t be. All I want is a kiss.” He leaned in close, giving her a chance to tell him no. He wouldn’t force her. He would never take what she wasn’t willing to give.

Callie’s gaze was on him and he could feel her breath. Sinking his fingers into her hair, he pulled her in close and slammed his lips down on hers. Her lips were like heaven.

Her hands went to his shoulders, gripping him tightly.

With his other hand, he grabbed her ass, pulling her against him, not wanting to let her go. Loving the feel of her next to his body. Why did she have to change out of the negligee? It would have been so easy to strip her naked, to fuck her, to take what he wanted. He couldn’t wait to see her tits, to spread her thighs open, taste her cunt, lick every single inch of her. Ruin wanted to hear her scream his name, beg him not to stop. He wanted so fucking much from her.

Breaking the kiss, he stared into her eyes. They were closed to start with, but she opened them. “Is that so wrong?” he asked. “To have a kiss?”

She shook her head.

“Callie?”

“Yes.”

“I want to touch you.”

“Oh.”

He took hold of her wrist and slid it from his shoulder moving down his chest, and even further still. He paused when her palm was at the top of his jeans.

“And I want you to touch me as well.”

Her teeth sank into her lip, and he saw the nerves playing out across her face. Callie was so open, so expressive. Her cheeks were a deep shade of red. She was a little panicked but he saw the flash of excitement in her eyes.

She wanted this.

He wanted this.

Moving her hand down, he placed her palm flat on his rock-hard cock. She gasped and he cupped her tit in his palm. Her eyes went wide as he stroked his thumb back and forth across her hard nipple. She wasn’t wearing a padded bra. He imagined something lacy, something sexy.

“Do you like that?”

She jerked her head in a yes.

“Good.” Her palm remained still against his cock. “You can move your hand. You can touch me.”

“I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Her virginity turned him on again.

“Then do whatever you like. I’m a big boy, I can handle it.”

“No part of you is a boy,” she said.

This was a great read! Ruin and Callie had a great, interesting, and steamy story. I loved how much Ruin tried to take care of Callie and how innocent she was compared to his dark dealings. The story had me reading until the end and I loved how it ended. It had a little mystery as well, in trying to figure out how Callie got a hit on her. Great read!

Ruined By Love
Written by Champagne77 on 5th Mar 2023

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book. Callie lives a solitary life and has done for the last nine years but that was before she stumbled on to something that she shouldn’t have when she worked for Dante Moretti a feared man within the mafia. After she was fired she has worked hard to blend into the background and stay off everyone’s radar, her only excitement is her knitting club in the park, even when she promised her mum on her death bed that she would live not just exist, so when she meets Ruin she decides to finally let someone in and it isn’t long until she falls for him in a way that she never knew existed. But who is this man that has come to be her everything and is he someone that she can put her trust in or is he her ultimate downfall? Ruin is no ones knight in shining armour, he has spent his life and reputation proving how and why he is such a feared hitman, but the day that Callie’s file arrived in his mail box he was caught in her trap from that moment and he knew that he had to know all there was to know about this woman who had ensnared him with just a photograph. Meeting her was the easy part when he discovered knitting club in the park, the more he learned the more obsessed he became, what could this innocent woman have done to make her a target, placing himself in her life to protect her became his mission but falling in love with her was something that he had no control over. How long can Ruin hide who he truly is and when Callie discovers why he is in her life will she give him another chance or cut him out of her life forever? I am a massive fan of this author each book is super steamy, with an alpha male that rivals most and a heroine that thinks she is weak but so much stronger than she realizes. I did love how Ruin was trying to knit that gave me a giggle thinking of him in my mind’s eye. Recommended 4.5* read.

So he decided to follow her and put cameras in her apartment. As he followed her he became enamored with her. He joined her knitting group to interact with her. As they interacted they became closer and eventually lovers. Ruin was being pressured to take her out since he hadn’t done it yet. This was a good short mafia mystery. There were some steamy moments. Great short story.

Unable to put any kind of precise label on this book. It's intense, it has action, suspense, loyalty, betrayal and even some love..... The characters are so well described and set up, that you almost expect to recognise them on the street. The plot, although seemingly straight forward from the beginning has a couple of interesting twist laterin in the book. Very enjoyable book from an author who's working his way stealthily into my favored list.

Written by Jeanne on 5th Mar 2023

Ruin is a contract killer known as The Bogeyman and his next target is Callie—only he is not targeting her to off her like he is supposed to. He is completely drawn to her from the first photo. She has no clue how to really interact with people, especially men. She lives her life on the outer edges of everything. He kind of bulldozes his way in and won’t let go. Their secrets eventually come out and some individuals need dealt with in his job as The Bogeyman. He is very sweet to her. Cute ending, though there are other forms of birth control than listed! I really liked the story.

No spoilers because you seriously need to read this book for yourself but if you like mafia books with a bad guy who will protect you till the end then this is the book for you.

Followed by Ruin.
Written by LaurenErzsebet on 5th Mar 2023

This story is intense and in ways fairly sad as we examine the lonely life of the main female. Her life only improves when death comes for her without her even realising. Ruin is a hired hitman who never questions his targets until her. He can't understand why she would be on his hit list and her innocence is too obvious which has him investigating rather than pulling his trigger. The more time spent with her means he falls for this sheltered female who he wants to pull from the shadows. The bogeyman now knows real fear. The development of this hardened character is massively important as his heart is melted by the woman at the top of his list. His background is seriously devastating but then so is hers. For nine years she has hidden and only existed until Ruin is determined to show her how to live. My heart broke for both of them and I was amazed at the relief I felt during several parts of this. Sometimes stories can nestle inside us because we can get attached to characters.. This story will have you attached.

When Ruin was sent to kill Callie, he couldn't do it. There was something about her to him. As he spent time with her everything that Dante said about her didn't add up. So, when she went to Aldo with Dante's book it cleared up a lot of things. Ruin and Callie had a big hurdle to climb. Will she put her trust in Ruin now that the truth is out, and will it lead them to a happily ever after? I was on the edge of my seat with this book from start to finish!

Written by Slvrdlphn on 5th Mar 2023

I don't usually like mafia romances because it feels wrong to romanticize something bad but Ruin is mafia adjacent, lol! The story displays Ruin's inability to stop himself from falling for Callie while trying to find out why there is a hit on her. At the same time, it also shows how Callie blossoms under Ruin's love and affection. I loved every moment of their journey!

The mystery of Callie caught Ruin
Written by LBing on 5th Feb 2023

This story started off as a mystery for Ruin as to why he was hired to assassinate Callie. She was beyond sweet and shy and introverted. An innocent. Ruin couldn't get over her photo and started falling for her right away. He needed to solve the mystery of Callie and decide from there what to do... I absolutely love that he joined her outdoor knitting class to gain her trust but, sadly, when his truths came out, she was devastated and dropped him. This became a rough ride but love prevailed and they got their HEA. Good fun!

Steamy read
Written by Conie N on 5th Feb 2023

A quick and steamy read about a hitman falling for his target. This wasn't the most unique premise, but I still enjoyed it. Keep in mind this is a fast-paced story, so everything happened very rapidly. Of course, I wouldn't have minded if it was a tad longer, this way there's more room for character and story development. But if you're looking for a quick read, this is it. ***I would like to thank NetGalley, Sam Crescent (the author), and Evernight Publishing for graciously sending me an ARC to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.**

A hot rollercoaster of emotions
Written by Jane H on 5th Feb 2023

Ruin and Callie, their story was a hot rollercoaster of emotions. He has been sent to kill her, he has been given no reason that her death has been ordered. He follows her, and then starts to engage with her. He does this at her weekly knitting group meeting!! He even tries to learn to knit (I laughed the inclusion of this in the book it really made me smile). Callie isn't experienced at all with men, dating, flirting so she's a bit unsure of what Ruin's end game is. This book has an intelligent female lead and a male lead who knows what he wants. Some angst, lots of passion and some cuteness too (the knitting). No more teasers as it will spoil the anticipation readers should experience. My five star rating is well deserved and I strong encourage you to read this book.

The hitman and his target
Written by GingerLorMel on 5th Feb 2023

Ruin is a cruel and ruthless hitman that crime bosses call when someone needs to be whacked. He’s called the Bogeyman for good reason, as he excels at his job. When he’s hired to take out this beautiful innocent woman, Callie Lawson, he feels compelled to find out more about her first. He’s never questioned getting rid of any his previous targets but he is drawn to Callie. She’s beautiful and radiates innocence. How could she be a threat to the notorious Dante Morelli? She’s just a quiet introverted hard worker that spends her extra time reading or knitting. She’s a loner. Ruin can’t figure out why he’s so drawn to her but he’s going to find out. Sparks fly, and it isn’t long before Ruin makes a romantic move on Callie. She’s so innocent that he takes all of her firsts — and she falls in love with him. Her heart is broken when she realizes Ruin lied about everything. He’s going to have to move mountains to protect Callie and convince her that despite every lie, he truly cares for her. Callie was a super sweet heroine. She was really just so innocent despite her intelligence level. I definitely rolled my eyes a few times at how naive she was, but I adore stories where the bad boy gets the good girl. I’m so glad the author made Ruin grovel over a period of time and prove himself. The steam was fabulous and their chemistry was so good! Tropes: Contemporary romance, mafia romance, hitman, instalove, age gap, virgin heroine, pregnancy, happily-ever-after Heat: 3/5

RUIN AND CALLIE
Written by Gkp2460 on 5th Feb 2023

Callie Lawson found herself on the bad side of Dante Morelli, Capo for the Giordano Mafia. That also means that she's the target of Ruin "The Bogeyman" when Dante sends him after her. Finding that she's nothing like Dante says she is, Ruin digs a little deeper, thankfully. Things aren't always what they seem. This is a fast paced story with plenty of action and chaos. It's a great one sitting read.

who knew kitting could lead to romance
Written by memes on 5th Feb 2023

Callie and Ruin meet when he approaches her in a park during a knitting group. Ruin attempts to get closer to Callie by working the knitting angle, which I found hilarious. Ruin does some pretty sneaky and shady stuff to try to get closer to Callie. Despite Ruin's behavior there are some pretty funny parts in the story. There is some violence and action to the story but nothing to dark or over the top. I liked that Ruin knew something was off and went the extra mile to find out what was really going on. I was also surprised by Callie and the "gumption" she showed toward the end of the story.

The Bogeyman's Woman
Written by Barb K on 5th Feb 2023

Ruin is known as The Bogeyman. He is an assassin and does most of his work for the mob. A capo hires him to kill a woman. Callie has no family, no friends, and works a boring job. Her only hobby is knitting. She thinks she's plain and she stays in the background. While knitting in the park she meets Ruin. Ruin can't figure out why the capo wants her dead but one look and he has no intention of killing her. Callie can't believe this sexy man is interested in her but when she finds out the real reason they meet, she is devastated. Will she forgive him and live happily ever after? Short book. A killer and a lonely woman. I thought there needed to be more about why the capo wanted her dead and what she was doing. That might not make sense but I don't want to give anything away. * Received from Netgalley and voluntarily reviewed it *

Ruin is a dangerous man known in some dark parts of the criminal world as the Bogeyman. He is the man called in to make messes vanish. He is not a cleaner he is a killer. A capo has called him in directly to remove Cassie Lawson. Ruin studied his target and wondered how she had annoyed the capo to this extent. He began to feel something was off. I felt that Ruin came across well as did the other characters and I really enjoyed the story as it unfolded.

Definitely a recommended read!
Written by Angela F on 5th Feb 2023

I've fallen in love with Sam Crescent's writing! The Bogeyman's Woman is no exception. Ruin is a complex protagonist. He starts off as unemotional and detached from everyone around him, focused on the brutal jobs he has to do. I love that the change in him is gradual and that while there is an instant attraction to Callie, it's not instalove. I'm not against instalove, but this allowed their relationship to unfold a bit more slowly and that I got to enjoy the story for that much longer! Callie is sweet and innocent at twenty-nine, and while Ruin sweeps her off her feet, she's also strong enough to stand her ground against him once she discovers the truth about him, A great story with some seriously steamy scenes peppered throughout! Definitely a recommended read!

What happens when a killer falls in love?
Written by Laura S. on 5th Feb 2023

Ruin is a killer for hire. Callie was his next hit. Ruin doesn't question the whys of the assignment, however, once look at her picture, and the questions start. Why her? What did she do to earn a kill contract out on her? This is an unlikely romance, but entertaining and well told to keep you turning the pages to the end!

I loved these characters! Ruin is a hit man for hire and supposed to killing Callie but instead falls in love with her. The dynamic of these two is wonderful and Callie starts to fall for Ruin, not knowing he is supposed to be ending her life. I love the development of this story and of course the fact that it was NOT a slow burn. Great story Sam!!!

Definitely pick this up
Written by Tara K on 5th Feb 2023

I really enjoyed this, Ruin and Callie were great, Ruin is complex, emotionally detached to start, we get a gradual change which I loved to read, Callie is sweet and innocent, despite being 29, but still holds her own with Ruin. Wonderful story with great steam. Definitely pick this up Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for an honest opinion

Definitely not what I expected. Hit man in a knitting circle? Ha! There are some really funny moments, a bit of suspense, incredible steam, and even a bit of heart wrenching. Ruin turns out to be pretty amazing. Callie is a lucky girl.

Loved this story! Was totally not expecting this story the way it was written. Not many characters in the story, just the two of them mostly. Find out the reason for Ruin’s name and his past was heart breaking. Callie hasn’t had an easy life either. But how did she end up with the Boogeyman’s attention, Ruin plans to find out!

Ruin and Callie
Written by A. Adams on 5th Feb 2023

This is a mafia romance. Ruin is a hitman known as the Bogeyman. Ruin kills without feeling anything until Callie. Ruin was supposed to kill Callie Lawson but once he saw her picture he needed to know more. Ruin starts following Callie to her knitting group and infiltrates her life. Until Callie finds out the truth about who Ruin really is. It's too late then. Callie fell for Ruin hard. This book is not very long.

His life and his love.
Written by Redfaeryrose on 5th Feb 2023

Ruin found his ruin. That was funny but it's true. He was ruined for good because he fell for the woman he was supposed to remove from this world. I liked the story and I sympathize with the MC, I feel sorry for the life he had but he survived and he grew strong but not in the way we would find acceptable. But the one thing I loved about him is despite the life he lead, he loved and protected his family.

Saving the bogeyman
Written by Bookbunny on 12th Jan 2023

What happens when a man like Ruin is contracted to kill a woman? For one, he wants to know her. Why does the Capo want her dead? Callie Lawson keeps to herself. Knits little things for children and babies even dogs. She has a kind heart. What would be the reason to eliminate her? Callie was an invisible woman, but what was the reason for Dante Morelli wanting her dead? Ruin does find out but he was in no rush. Callie had captured his heart and he didn’t even expect that. Now he was protecting her and would remove anyone trying to take her from him. You have to love a bad guy turning good. Yeah, Ruin still is a killer but he does have a conscious. Although keeping it from Callie is costly. She is a sweetheart. I know some will see her as a push over but she is a woman that works hard and causes no problems. She just was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They are a great couple.

The Bogeyman's Woman
Written by mysticbaby1991 on 12th Jan 2023

Man Sam is coming out swinging when it comes to book for the new year. She's not playing any games! Callie Lawson lives her life slowly fading away. After losing her parents 9 years prior she's never made another connection to a person and in many cases if asked about her people would say "Callie who?" So what is it that she could've done to warrant a capo to send the Bogeyman to kill her? This is what Ruin has to figure out. But to do so he must break all his rules and actualy get to know his mark. However, things backfire when he gets to know Callie and becomes even more confused on what this sweet woman has done and why he's suddenly feeling very protective of her. When all the secrets Ruin's kept hidden from Callie come out will she be able to forgive him? Or has Ruin overestimated Callie's forgiving nature? I absolutely loved Callie and Ruin. Both of these characters live in the shadows in their own way. While Callie's living like this of her own doing, it's necessary for Ruin and his business to be in the shadows.

Review of The Bogeyman's Woman by Sam Crescent
Written by The Dragon Den Book Blog on 12th Jan 2023

Things get deadly hot in this erotic romance and things get wonderfully complicated! Ruin was supposed to kill her. A woman with no family, no friends, no coworkers who would have cared if she didn't turn up to work, not even a nosy neighbour to stick his nose into her business. A woman who was completely invisible to the world even if she was sitting right next to them. It should have been a simple job. Now he's sitting next to her...on a park bench...in her knitting club. The dark haired, blue-eyed beauty had captured him. He was falling for her kind heart, her beauty...and craving her curves. Callie was not a woman who seized the moment. It was rare for her to even try and be social willingly. It scares her when suddenly the tall, built, tattooed hunk in her knitting class was talking to her. Not only that. Asking her out on a date? He makes her crave for more. She's twenty-nine and a virgin. She's not experienced in the field of flirting, but it's clear Ruin wants her and she's quite happy to fall for him. However, the contractor is pushing for her death. Callie knows some. Has stolen something. Has crossed a line. Now she was in danger. Ruin had to save her...even if her finding out the truth would have her hate him forever. A wonderfully delicious creation yet again by Sam Crescent. I really enjoyed Callie's character, as she was truly almost invisible. Not just a girl who shut herself away and thought she was not seen by anyone. She really was just in the bakground unnoticed by many. Ruin's backstory was sad and fantastic, building to his grown character and the new roles he takes. Plus I could totally see him kill a man with knitting needles. Just for shticks and giggles.

It was a very sweet! Ruin was contracted to murder Callie but once he started following her, he realized he couldn't do it and had started a relationship with her. A nice hot and quick romance
Written by Allison R on 12th Jan 2023

Ruin is a “problem solver” ( aka hit man) for the mafia. A man so feared by others that he achieved the nickname the “Bogeyman,” however his newest target has him stumped. Callie seems to leave a boring and solitary life so why would she be up for “termination?” Ruin is also amazed by the fact that her picture alone seems to have upended his normal routine, and after meeting her, well let’s say he doesn’t want their time to end, which is a total turnaround from his normal . I’ll admit Ruin was not who I was expecting based on his moniker. I mean he was learning how to knit to meet up with Callie, and while he justified it by saying he was learning her patterns, Ruin seems to care for Callie right off the bat. Yes he’s quite the alpha male but he does have a soft side too. But fear not, this is no weak man, and Callie for all her shy and retiring ways is strong all on her own. Those of you who have read other books by this author will not be disappointed by the steamy hot romance with the two leads, I just wish it was a little longer. Still a nice hot and quick romance with strong alpha male vibes, tender moments, humor (did you not hear me say he was trying to learn to knit?), and in my opinion a great epilogue. 4.5 stars . I voluntarily read and reviewed an arc copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I love this authors books pulls you in to the story from page one. they call him the Bogeyman he is an asasin to hire and his own boss some would love him to fully work for them in the mafia world. Dante has a job for Ruin he wants him to kill Callie Lawson but what he does not understand is why she a loner but a very beautiful woman so he gets close to her but he knows that something is not right why kill her so while he is enjoying her company he digs deeper not going to say anymore but so recommend this authors books
