Randi and Brionna, 1
The question has been popped and the engagement ring slipped on Brionna’s finger, but Randi’s youngest daughter is livid when she finds out Randi intends to marry a woman young enough to be Randi’s daughter.
Furious and determined to put a stop to a wedding that should never happen, Milina comes up with a plan, but she’s not the only one planning. Randi’s co-worker is still determined to get his hands on Randi’s proposal for the college’s law school, and he’s not above using Milina to get what he wants.
However, Milina and Stewart’s plans collide and spiral out of control putting Brionna in a dangerous position that could end in Brionna’s death and Milina in jail for murder.

Milina’s brown eyes went pale with shock that turned to disgust. “How could you do something like that? She’s beneath you.”
“Stewart is beneath me. The only reason he is interested in you is because he’s a pathetic loser who’s looking for someone to do the job he wants for him,” Randi told her. “Stay away from him.”
“You can’t tell me who to see, not now. Not while you’ve got a child half your age—who is barely old enough to be my big sister—living with us.” She pushed past Randi. “I can’t wait until I can move out.”
“You don’t have to wait,” Randi told her. “You can leave anytime you want as long as you don’t mind getting a job or living in your car.” However, Milina wouldn’t be doing either.
She’d raised her children with all the comforts she could afford and never skimped on anything important, including a comfortable home and an allowance.
“Get out of the way, you bitch!”
“Hey, now,” Brionna said.
“Your father might have cheated on your mother, but at least he did it with a grown up.”
“Your mother isn’t cheating on anyone,” Brionna retorted. “You’re her daughter not her lover.”
“As if. You ruined everything, Brionna Morley. You should have kept your ass away from my mother.”
“Sweetheart, there is no shame in my game, but you need to get a grip on yourself,” Brionna replied patiently.
“No, you do! My mother is too old for you, so leave her alone so she can have a real life.”
“For the first time in my life, I am having a real life,” Randi said quietly. “I suggest you go easy on the driving around because I’m not going to give you gas money every time you want to go out.”
“Maybe I’ll just get it from Stewart.”
“Go ahead,” Randi told her. “But he’ll expect something more than your body in return, and you can’t deliver that. So, tell him he’s never going to get the rest of my proposal. I deleted it after I didn’t get the job, which means he’s going to have to grow a brain if he intends to run that law school.”
Milina pushed past Brionna and stalked from the house.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that,” Randi said, going to Brionna and taking her hand. Anger filled Brionna’s gaze and Randi knew how she felt.
“No. It’s fine. I don’t expect her to want to be BFFs with me or anything,” she said. “A little more respect would be nice since I’m not disrespecting her at every turn.”
Randi agreed wholeheartedly. Brionna was acting with more restraint than Randi would have at her age.
“What’s going on with her today?” Brionna asked curiously.
“I caught her in my office trying to steal from me,” Randi muttered.
“Oh, honey.” Brionna drew her into a hug and kissed her. “Was it your proposal?”
“Exactly. You were at the party, you know what Stewart is up against, and apparently he does, too.”
“He can’t be that stupid,” Brionna murmured, frowning. “He has to have one original idea he can use.”
“Even if he does, it won’t be enough,” Randi said. “One idea might get them noticed, but it won’t make students choose it over the other choices.”
“With your ideas, do you think he could pull the investors back?”
