Law and Love, 1

Lucky Cane is a hotshot criminal defense attorney coming off a big win when her ex Caroline Woodland asks her for help. Lucky’s reluctant to be anywhere near the closeted lesbian she fell in love with during their brief fling, but something about Caroline won’t let her walk away.

Caroline knows Lucky is a threat to her safe way of life. Getting too close to her will tear her world apart, but Caroline is a social worker and she knows Lucky is the only person who can help an orphaned teenage-girl accused of murdering her mother.

Lucky is all set to pass the case off to avoid contact with Caroline. However, Lucky quickly realizes the teenager holds the answers to more than just one murder, but can she keep the girl alive and prevent Caroline from breaking her heart again?

Be Warned: f/f sex, sex toys

Excerpt:

In the spacious sunny yellow kitchen, Caroline found the scent of coffee wasn’t just the remains of last night. A fresh pot, along with a plate of scones and a bowl of fresh fruit salad waited for her. She helped herself to the salad and coffee, wondering where Lucky was.

“Good morning.” Lucky entered the kitchen and leaned against the edge of the breakfast bar where Caroline was eating. Caroline met her gaze, finding tired brown eyes.

Her chest warmed and butterflies fluttered in her stomach.

“You didn’t sleep much,” she said.

“No, but you seemed to have rested well,” Lucky said with a little smile. “That’s a good thing. You and Gail both looked tuckered.”

“Emotionally drained,” Caroline corrected and speared a blueberry and held the fork out to Lucky. “Have you eaten at least?”

Lucky leaned in and closed her lips over the fork. The full, well-shaped mouth that made her wet.

She tore her gaze away to rest on Lucky’s brown stare. Lucky’s gaze darkened and Caroline shivered.

“I had a scone. You should try one. They’re really good. The bakery is fantastic.”

Caroline picked up a strawberry slice and held it out to Lucky and Lucky took it, nipping her finger lightly.

“The berries are nice and sweet, aren’t they?” Caroline asked as she leaned toward Lucky. Her skin fairly pulsed and her nipples hardened.

“Yes.” Lucky didn’t draw back and Caroline kissed her. Lucky moaned and she reached up to cup Lucky’s nape.

The sweetness of the berries burst onto her tongue, melding with the kiss as their tongues tangled. Lazily, Lucky tasted her and Caroline pushed her fingers into Lucky’s hair to clench in the softness.

Lucky broke the kiss and Caroline’s eyes fluttered open to meet the hungry stare.

“So are you,” Lucky said breathlessly.

“Give me a chance,” Caroline said in a pleading tone. “I can’t go back to my life the way it was after those two months with you. I know what it feels like for the first time to really be in love.”

“Cari.” Lucky cupped her face and pressed a kiss to Caroline’s lips before straightening.

Fear flashed in Lucky’s gaze before it slipped away.

Caroline’s stomach tightened in anger with herself for hurting this handsome woman who’d done nothing but let her in and treat her with respect.

“I mean it. I don’t know if we can make this work, but I want to try,” Caroline whispered. The ache inside her chest was like a gaping whole without Lucky.

“And how long before you tell your family that?”

“Not long. A few weeks. I promise, Lucky. Nothing is more important to me than being with you.”

Lucky sighed, her expression guarded. “Let’s play it by ear. No promises from either of us.”

“I won’t disappoint you, I promise,” Caroline said, reaching out and capturing Lucky’s hand.

“Don’t lead me on just because you’re lonely,” Lucky said quietly. “I’d rather know you’re using me for sex. Then, I can either enjoy the moment or let it pass.”

“Some people search a lifetime for a fraction of what we had before,” Caroline murmured. “Letting you go now, knowing you’re my knight would be insane. So, don’t be afraid to fall for me again, because I’m not going anywhere.”

Emotions flitted across Lucky’s face before the mask of neutrality settled. “We have to get going,” Lucky said. “Or you’ll have to wait until I get back.”

“What time is it?”

“It’s a quarter to eight. I need to run to the office.”

“I’ll go now,” she said looking forward to the ride alone in Lucky’s company. “I need to get home and change and go to the office myself.”

The ending
Written by K.H. on 9th Nov 2019

Great book, good read, however, the ending left me with some questions. There can definitely be a sequel if the author chooses to do so. These characters are well developed, the storyline is realistic. You will not be disappointed reading this mystery romance novel.

Romance and a mystery
Written by AZ Reader on 9th Nov 2019

I love a law story that's done right. There's a whole lot of drama going on in this quick read and I didn't want to reading. You have Caroline that's being locked in the closet by family obligations and sore of murders that need to be solved. Lucky and her team come to the rescue. You also have Caroline and Lucky and their in again off again relationship. The chemistry is off the charts. Caroline had to figure out if she's going to live for herself out for her family. Lucky has to learn to trust that Caroline won't break her heart again. Definitely recommend!

I couldn't put it down
Written by RNP Pride on 9th Nov 2019

This book is awesome! It's a romance mixed with suspense, intrigue, angst and some hot love scenes. I don't normally go for suspense novels but I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. It pulled me in right from the start. I fell in love with the characters and the story had me on the edge of my seat. There were twists that I never saw coming. I don't usually gush over a book like this but I really enjoyed this one. I didn't want it to end. I have never read any books by this author but I will definitely be looking into her other books. I highly recommend this book. I received the book in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting story with lots of intrigue.
Written by Ro Fetterman on 9th Nov 2019

This is a book that weaves two stories into a very good book. Firstly we have a strong and hot love story between Lucky and Caroline. Lucky is a successful attorney who appears cold as ice. She is an out and proud lesbian who is trying to get over a failed relationship with Caroline. Caroline is a social worker who tries to live up to her homophobic mother's wishes to control Caroline's life, including forcing her to marry a man. Caroline does everything she can do to keep this man away because privately she knows she is in love with Lucky. With Caroline 's mother doing every manipulating and threatening move to get her to follow her mother's grand plan, how can she and Lucky ever proceed with a relationship? The second story line involves a Gail, a teen accused of killing her mother. Caroline is her social worker and asked Lucky to defend her. As this story developed there are so many twists and turns in attempting to defend Gail it was hard to put the book down until the end because it was so well written and the intrigue keep building. This is the first book I read from this author and I don't think it will be my last. Give it a try, it really is a good book.

Serenity Snow rock this one as usual

I loved this book. I love everything that Serenity Snow writes, and the connection between the two Main characters is very hot. She explores coming out and living your own truth even if it means defying your family for the one that you love.

What an interesting story. I really enjoyed the parts of the book that were a mystery. Loved the twist in the characters and making me guess at who the bad guy was. Getting ready for Caroline’s next adventure
