Her words are the thing that finally push me over the edge and have the last vestiges of my decency disintegrating. The darkness I have felt seeping into me finally takes hold and I no longer have control of my body. Lifting one of her legs I push her juicy thigh over my hip before thrusting my erection against her sex. A tiny noise escapes her throat.
“You want honesty? I haven’t wanted another woman since I saw you that first day at the diner.” I rub myself against her. “I dream of these thick thighs spread for me and every morning I jerk my cock in the shower to thoughts of these lush tits. I hate that you call yourself fat. I don’t see you that way, I see a sexy ass woman that can handle a real man.”
I can’t believe I am saying all these things to her. I have lost all control.
“If I scare her, so be it,” a dark voice filters into my mind. “I don’t care anymore and neither should you. She should be afraid of us. I am on the precipice of losing my goddamned mind and just taking her, whether she wants us or not.”
Fear and confusion swirl and lodge in my gut. None of this makes any damn sense and I’m afraid of myself right now, to be honest.
Lowering her leg, I allow her a little room to breathe as I run my index finger along her cleavage. Yes, I want to touch her but this is different. I’m not controlling my movements.
“I don’t want you, Sage. I crave you, more than my next fucking breath. I want to pin you to the ground and rip this pretty dress from your body, I want to fuck you until you cry and then I want to pump you full of my seed and get you pregnant so you can never leave me. That’s what I want.”
My darkest secrets are laid bare for her. The voice sounds like mine but the words aren’t spoken by me. Bewilderment strangles me as I try to figure out what the fuck is going on.
I’m not expecting the slap that connects with my cheek. I’m also not expecting it to ignite a fire in my soul that won’t be put out. The darkness inside me pulses with every beat of my heart, growing stronger, fully overtaking me.
“You need to run now, little girl,” I hear myself say, darkness dripping from every word. “Run fast and run far because if I catch you in these woods tonight, I will fuck your pretty little cunt raw.”

Hot Halloween
Well written, fast paced novella. Please be aware of the triggers the author warns about, may not be for some. Burke is a deputy who shows up at a diner everyday to see Sage. Sage is a curvy woman who is a waitress there, single and crushing on Burke. As she serves him his coffee, she asks him if he would like to go to a Halloween party with her. Once there , both decide that it's not their scene so they leave to go elsewhere to enjoy the night. They go to an Halloween festival for families and yet they head into the woods. Other people are around them yet he dares her to run and he would find her, which he does. Has lots of hot scenes, with a little mystery , some twists and surprises involved. Both get their happily ever after which she repeats the following Halloween. Would recommend to some.

Sage and Burke
The first story in the Ashburne Chronicles, a short steamy dark Halloween story. Sage and Burke go out for a date on Halloween, he gets possessed and things take a turn for a dark, steamy night. There is drama, possession, a ghost, twists, turns and at the end romance. I found their story to be well worth reading.

Great read
The book starts out all sweet and unrequited love between the Deputy Burke and Sage Willis the waitress that he is obsessed with since he met her. Sage is chubby and people make fun of her and I like her viewpoint regarding happiness and eating what she wants. She has had a crush on Burke since they met and since it is Halloween, she asks him to join her for a party she was invited to. However, having been born and raised in Ashburne for five gens, Burke knows the legends. Well they bit him, and he changes a bit. I like that they get together, I dislike what the legend did, but I understand it. Plus, it Skeeved me and freaked me out. However, since everything does work out because they talk, I’m happy with the ending. I think the legend should’ve been more explained earlier in the book, instead of a quick glossing over. That’s why it didn’t hit my awesome read radar. But, I do want to know more about the town and the people and the legend. Plus, about the earlier instances.

Absolutely wonderful!
I just love this author and her stories always keep me wanting for more and once again this one didn't disappoint. Characters were great and so was this story. I was truly hooked from the very start.

What did I just read?!? Hello Jade Marshall, you just checked all my boxes off on my favorite tropes for this hauntingly written book!!! It has scorching hot spice and maybe a possession. I couldn’t stop turning the pages to see what Burke was going to do next!!! If you like a fat burn Halloween romance you need to read this book!!! Sage was a firecracker and I loved her fight. Burke was the good ol boy with a possessive and maybe a little obsessive streak. I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author!!! Happy Reading!!

Burke and Sage. Hes a Deputy and shes a waitress at the diner where he goes for coffee every morning just to see her. She invites him to a halloween party and they end up at the woods for a scavenger hunt. Thats where his possession takes place. Great ghost story. Loved it has lots of action and passion. Great entertainment.

Sage and Burke
This is a quick seasonal read. Burke is the local sheriff and is attracted to Sage, the local diner waitress. She asks him to take her to a Halloween party and he readily agrees. Their town has all kinds of stories about possession. Burke becomes possessed and tells Sage to run. He then hunts her down and engages in some rough sexy times. There is dubious consent at first so if that is not your thing this book might not be for you. Otherwise, it was an over-the-top steamy read.

The right kind of pumpkin spice
Sage has had a crush on deputy sheriff Burke since she came to town, but a man like that wouldn't be interested in a big girl like her, would he? Meanwhile Burke has listed over Sage and when she gets the courage to invite him to a Hallowee party, well, he finds himself overcome with more than lust. Really enjoyed this book, love, paranormal and loads of spice.

couldn’t put it down
I couldn’t put this book down, i have never read a book so fast. i’m looking forward for more books. If you are looking for some romance and smut grab this book. Wow I have never been so drawn to the characters and i never for seen the ending of the book be like it was but I highly recommend picking up this book, it will be added to my bookshelf as soon as it gets release

Hooked right from the start!
This book had me hooked right from the start!! I giggled quite a lot at the stalkers behavior (the little inner dialogue) and I thought it was awesome that the fmc is plus size. Perfect read for Halloween season!plenty of twisted spice and haunting encounters

This was super hot! New in town waitress (Sage) and town deputy (Burke) both have crushes on each other. The night of Halloween, Sage asks if Burke will come to a halloween party with her. Burke is super hot and seems like a great guy...until he's not.... Their night in the woods could definitely be described as noncon. But Sage is confused about why she enjoyed being chased and then taken. HEA too.

This short story is definitely that of a dark romance that’s NSFW with a bit of a spooky BDSM vibe. The chemistry between Burke and Sage is quite steamy. While the story moves pretty quick, it is easy to follow and not too OTT. Burke is very much your alpha male who falls first and hard. A fun quick read to get you in the Halloween spirit!

Whew! What a Story!
For some reason this book really called to me. Can’t exactly say why, but I just HAD to read it. Sooo glad I did. It took me on a wild journey of hard rough super hot excitement! I loved how the characters didn’t know they wanted it until it was forced on them…can I get my husband to read this book? *grin*

Fast read - short story
This was a quick short story. There isn’t much room in the story for character development as it is a short story. So be warned, you won’t get much background about characters. All in all, a nice spicy story with an unconventional kind of a hook up.
