Kyson
I knew my consort would be difficult to persuade even before the Oracle showed me the path I needed to take to find her. Such is the power my fiery Scarlet wields, and she doesn’t even know it.
The yearning I feel every time I catch her scent goes beyond mere lust. I need to consume her. I need to be consumed by her. And I’ll rip apart any man or vampire who tries to get in my way.
If only it were so simple.
Excerpt:
I watch him stalk closer to me. He doesn’t move like any man I have ever seen. His steps are confident but there is a predatory confidence to everything he does.
“I know you hate being locked in this room,” he continues. “But the moment I open that door you’re going to run. I know you dream of me and have since before we ever met.”
“Kyson,” I whisper as he leans over me, forcing me against the headboard.
“Don’t worry, Scarlet.” His hand cups my cheek. “I won’t let any harm come to you.”
“What do you want from me?” I ask softly. “I don’t understand why I am here.”
“You’re here because you belong to me, just as I belong to you.” His words crash through my mind and only serve to confuse me even more. “As for what I want? I want you. To hear you moan my name while I touch you, to hold you while you sleep, to share a meal with you.”
“You can’t be serious?” I try to glare but I know there isn’t any heat behind it. With him this close, touching me, putting off that ridiculously wonderful smell. My hormones are doing all the thinking and my previous anger has left me.
“I am.” He smiles. “I can smell your sex, see your nipples through the fabric of your gown. I know you want me. But I want more than just sex, Red. If that’s all I wanted from you I could have simply taken it.”
I balk at his words. Is he serious? I’ve never been afraid that Kyson would hurt me. I don’t know why but I have always felt safe around him even though I know that seems crazy. Maybe I’m wrong about him? Should I be scared?
“I won’t take anything from you that you don’t freely offer,” he replies to my unanswered question.
“And if I never offer?” I ask, trying to see how far I can push him.
“Then I will wait.”
He pushes away from me and heads back toward the door. I watch him stride away and a sense of hopelessness and despair crashes over me. I don’t want him to leave. The realization hits me like a ton of bricks and I feel like I could cry. Instead, I screw my eyes shut tightly to keep my emotions locked inside.
“Look at me,” Kyson demands, his hand tilting up my chin.
How the hell did he get back to me so fast? I didn’t even hear him. It takes a moment for me to be sure he won’t be able to read what I just felt before I look at him.
“I lied. And I never want to lie to you or keep things hidden. There is one thing I will take without your permission.”
His lips cover mine and I am lost to him.
This Book 1 in The Thanatos Coven Book Series has an intriguing story and well-constructed world with interesting characters. These characters have unique personalities, detailed histories, and believable interactions. This is a good start to a new series. This story has kinapping, drama, twists, turns, danger, adventure, and a HEA. This is a must read book.
Captive Consort by Jade Marshall and Rose Wulf Kyson has been looking for his mate a long time each having dreams of the other. Scarlet will be enthralled by him yet will always be free spirited. You’ll enjoy the their chemistry these characters share. A great story for sure.
Captive Consort is the first book in the Thanatos Coven series. The story has an easy flow and entertaining characters that keep you turning the pages. It is an easy-to-read page-turner with drama, steamy romance, a great cast of engaging characters, and some paranormal action.
I absolutely adored this book! This book is definitely one of those books that will live rent free in my head for the rest of my life! I will definitely be recommending this book to all my dark romance bookie friends ?
Kyson and Scarlett. She wakes and doesnt know where she is or how she got there. A man enters her room she doesnt know him but she does know him. Shes had visions of him. He says shes his consort. The oracle said so. Hes also a vampire and a consort is a mate. Shes so stubborn and fiesty. Shes attracted it has to stockholm syndrome. Great Great read. So much steam and angst and rage and dis I say steam. Loved it.
This was my first time reading a book by this author and will definitely be looking forward to their other works in the future. Waking up in an unknown location and suddenly being told that you are the consort of some stranger is not how most women fantasize about their day. Though, in reality, this is not some stranger but the man that has haunted her dreams for the majority of her life and sparked a desire within her that cant be matched.

Captive Consort Book 1 of Thanatos Coven Jade Marshall I really enjoyed this story. I found it well written. The characters had life, chemistry and substance. Great read.
This is a short read. This is Kyson and Scarlet’s story. The Oracle says she is his, but will Scarlet accept that? She has had a rough life, and knows herself, at least most of the time. Follow their drama along with some action on the coven.
Ah! Loved this one!! I want to see more pretty pretty please!! I couldn't tell at the end if we were going to get a story from the "bad guy side or not but I will be very intrigued if we do. I can't wait to get more from THIS coven though!!
I've read a lot of books written by Jade Marshall; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is the first book in the Thanatos Coven Series; it is a stand-alone short story. The story is about Scarlet & Kyson.
This is the first book I have read from Jade Marshall and it was better than I thought it would be. I am actually looking forward to the next book in the series.
Reading this new series, I really had no idea what was going on. The authors did a terrific job of weaving the story while establishing the setting and introducing the characters. I quickly was able to grasp what was going on, and I was hooked, line and sinker! I ended up loving the characters along with the story, and I can’t wait for the next book!
Very good book, I can't wait to read more from these Authors. I'm hoping they write more books together.
Captive Consort (Book 1 of Thanatos Coven) by Jade Marshall is a paranormal vampire romance novella. This was a very fast paced novella about vampire mates. Kyson finds out who his mate (consort) is after looking for her. Once he finds her as expected convincing the beautiful human named Scarlett isn’t easy. This is a quick, spicy, fun read to enjoy. I hope to catch another read like this from Jade Marshall.
This is a sorta sweet romantic captivity story. Kyson and Scarlett don’t take a long time to give in to their mate bond. It’s quick moving and has some action and adventure. I love how strong Scarlett is with her determination to protect her mate as he wants to protect her. I’m excited to see where this story goes with the next book!
A new short fast-paced book by Jade Marshall and Rose Wulf. Scarlet, a human, wakes up in a cage after being taken by her mate Kyson, a vampire. Despite being thrown into Kyson's world, Scarlet adapts quickly and still holds her ground. Due to the nature of their bond, Kyson's attraction to Scarlet is strong from the very beginning which only assists to help develop their relationship. The novella could have gone on a bit longer to thoroughly explain some aspects but otherwise a good read.
Scarlet has been kidnapped & wakes up to be told she is Kyson's consort. She is rightly upset & angry but then falls for him quite quickly. Think that part needed longer to develop to be more believable. In summary this is a short vampire story with more to come in series.
This is a dark romance novella involving vampires and humans that has drama, action, suspense and steamy moments! Scarlet is kept by Kyson as she is his consort (kind of like soul mate but a forever bond), however, she is unaware of this so Kyson has to convince her to stay and that they are made for each other. Scarlet is brave and strong and Kyson is dominant and protective. The two of them are great together. The overall story is that the humans are trying to get rid of the vampires as they think they are not good so there has been a long battle between the two. I enjoyed reading this!
A quick, steamy read, set in an interesting new world with vampires, their human fated consorts and human (but with special abilities) vampire hunters. I loved the Vampires house pet / Guardian and I hope she features more heavily in more books. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this story. I wanted more! The story is a paranormal read with a vampire, human and the hunters. The story is about Scarlet and Kyson. Scarlet wakes up in a room. She is feisty and not happy. When Hyson comes to the room he does not like her response and retracts trying to teach her a lesson. This begins a push and pull between these two where he underestimates her and she is determined. He is also determined, fierce and very protective. The story is exciting, intriguing, interesting with suspense, action, danger, passion, romance and good twists.
Story moves quickly. Characters are warm and intriguing it's easy to get attached to them. Sex is spicy moderately describe but there are a couple sentences that get explicit and still remIn vanilla with no kink. I was most impressed with the FMC as she was no shy retiring helpless Maiden but had a true warrior spirit. Will definitely read the next book in the series.

In this delightful, well paced pnr novella vampire,Kyson, and human, Scarlet, are forced together by a destiny that turns to true love. Here we have two likeable, strong characters coming to terms with fate. Head strong, alpha Kyson learning his woman is no pushover, Scarlet realising her previous life had been a lie. Together they become a formidable force. There's bundles of chemistry between the couple and enough spice to keep you reading, though the plot is pretty predictable. Great lazy afternoon read.
I couldn't put it down. Wow amazing story with wonderful characters. Scarlett and Kyson are good together. He's a vampire and she is human. This is the first in the series, I'm looking forward to more in this series,
Scarlet is Kyson's consort. They're destined for one another and luckily, it doesn't take Scarlet long to realize that Kyson is hers. Kyson and his coven have been at war against a specific group of jagters and there's quite a showdown in this book. I love Scarlet's independence and feistiness. Can't wait to see what lies ahead for future books in the series.
I know they are fated, but it didn't feel like there was enough foundation to build a true forever on that quickly. It felt like some heavy Stockholm rather than a natural flow into being mates. That said, it was a decent read that moved quickly. I hope in the coming tales for a bit broader of a picture to allow for a smoother flow when new mates are brought to the consort suite.
This feels like a quick story that moves fast. While the pace is quick, I would recommend this book to anyone that looks for fated mates in a novella style story. I love the vampire alpha male romance with a desire that was only for her. That connection alone made this dark spicy romance fun to read.

This is Book One in the Thantos Coven series and is the story of Scarlett, a human, and Kyson, a vampire, who are fated mates. When Scarlett wakes up in an unfamiliar bedroom, she is shocked to learn she is locked in and the man she has been dreaming of most of her life, is the one not allowing her to leave. She also learns that he is a vampire and is claiming she is his fated consort. This quick read has action and steam. You are introduced to vampire hunters and several interesting members of the coven. I am hoping some of my favorites are going to get their own story. This plot moves quickly, and Scarlett proves she is more than capable of being his consort.
If you like hot and steamy, you’re gonna love this book it was a definite page Turner I must The story just draws you in and the characters were so intriguing. I would definitely recommend this book.
Scarlet and Kyson are quite the duo in this book! This is book 1 of the Thanatos Coven and what a way to start the series! This is a great read filled with angst, desire, lust, deceit, and spice! Can't go wrong with those! This book was intriguing and kept me interest! Can't wait to read book 2

Captive Consort is a great start to a new series by Marshall and Wulf. They help you out right away with a glossary of terms and concepts for their vampire/vampire hunter world. This is a fated-mates romance, as the vampires dream of their consorts for decades. With the help of their Oracle, know when to bring them to their coven. And that’s exactly what happens to Scarlet, who awakens to find herself in Kyros’ coven as he works to convince her to become his mate. I liked the way Scarlet was able to take charge of her life despite being bought by a vampire, and how she too had dreamed of Kyros. Scarlet had an ability to adapt that was admirable. I also loved how completely devoted to her Kyros was. In this world, vampires are willing to do anything to keep their mates content—it’s a bit of a compromise for having to give up being in the daylight world and more. The antagonists were interesting in Captive Consort, with hints of deeper levels and animosities among them. I would have liked more time spent on how these hunters were able to compromise coven security relatively easily, and more about what happened with the other coven that didn’t make it. Captive Consort is a fun and easy read and an engrossing start to this series.
Vampire stories run the gamut of good to cheesy. This story however is beyond good. The characters are amazingly diverse and their world is so vibrant you can’t help but be drawn in. Scarlett and Kyson are so good together that you can’t help but feel their connection. Can’t wait for more from this world.
This is a fast read. It is well-written and keeps your interest. The characters are strong, There is a lot of chemistry between the two main characters. They both are willful and are perfect for each other.
This is Kyson, a vampire and Scarlet a human female's story. After an oracle tell Kyson, Scarlet is to be his fated mate,"consort" he "kidnaps" her and she wakes up is the locked consort room. Can he convince her their fate is meant to be? The Jagters(vampire hunters) also make their presence known during this crucial phase in their relationship which only complicates things. Can he win her over all while defending their home and his mate? Check out this interesting tale to find out.
I liked this story about how Scarlet is captured by Kyson and is told that she is his mate. I wish there was more character development and explanation on how they are feeling and why. It is a good read but, this would have made it better. This is a good 4 star story.
This story had it all! Spice, intrigue, conflict and HEA with a dash of "what's this around the corner" ending. I was pleasantly surprised with this story and will be keeping a close eye out, hoping for more of this story!
Good world building and an interesting plot that flows well. Well written with intriguing characters and plenty of steamy scenes. A really good read
I really liked this book. Kidnapping, sweetness, seduction, and action is a recipe for success. The way that Scarlet was acquired is very sad, but once she realizes the opportunity in front of her and the possibility for happiness if she accepts Kyson she doesn’t hold back. The way that Kyson speaks to Scarlett, and the fact that he doesn’t give up shows Scarlett his inner strength. Once they come together, they both have something to fight for and prove to be a ruthless pair that love each other.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I absolutely love forced mate and forever partners. It was definitely very interesting to read. The plot involved vampires and the need to reproduce for the coven of vampires. I’m not going to share very much because I don’t want to spill the beans, but please read this so worth it. Thank you for the opportunity to review it.
This book intrigued me as the plot seemed to build on an atypical vampire world where the human does not turn into a vampire to be his mate. The world building was good, but I wanted more from the side characters. For a 106 page book it seemed to pack a lot of drama, world building, found family, spice and plot. Scarlet is living with her parents who don't like her and they pay Kyson to take her. Scarlet wakes up in a strange room to find Kyson and she is afraid of her situation and Kyson does not appreciate her sarcasm and insolate attitude after he tries to explain why she is there. He tells her she can wait two days to see him again and adjust her attitude. Scarlet has seen Kyson in her dreams for months and feels like she knows him but is still confused, angry and scared of her situation, she wants to leave. Kyson is a vampire that has been dreaming about her before she was born for over 150 years and he is anxious to claim her, however he wants to do things right to gain her trust and pathway to her wanting to be with him as his mate for eternity. As a human she will quit aging once claimed/bitten. There is plenty of suspense from a superhuman vampire predator called the Jagters that create an element of danger. Overall, I enjoyed the story and new world Jade Marshall created and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Loved this one between fated mates human Scarlet and Vampire Kyson. Kyson was able to patiently let Scarlet come to terms with her new life. There was something so romantic about his dreaming about her since even before she was born. Great chemistry together, and I love that she was not feeble and a damsel in distress. She was just as passionate about her mate and saving him and her newfound family from the Jagsters. I enjoyed the epilogue, too, and am looking forward to reading Xander and Aziel's feud next.
A Spicy Romantic Read Kyson had waited a lifetime for his consort, now he had to keep her safe and explain to her what she meant to him but Scarlet didn’t know of their world. Scarlet although human wasn’t the damsel in distress type of person and Kyson would soon learn of her strengths. Their bond was growing stronger and soon with her agreement a claiming would occur. A hot action packed paranormal read starting of this series with a bang!
A quick but good introduction to the Thanatos Coven. Scarlet is taken by the man who has filled her dreams. Kyson must convince her that she is his consort. The push/pull between them had sparks flying. Loved the characters, and how Scarlet committed was a force to be reckoned with. An enjoyable vampire read.
Kyson and Scarlett are fated, but he'll habe a hard time convince her she's to be his consort, when she's I his guildd cage. Well written steamy fast paced romance
