Dog Tired Brewery, 1

From negative six degrees to scorching…

As head of distribution for his (and his partners’) hobby turned multi-million dollar Orlando-based brewery business, Rex Bancroft travels all the time. No time for a relationship. Nor does he want one. Just one broken heart and now he plays the field and plays it often. But something about the brunette at the Grand Rapids airport ticket counter has him in a tailspin.

A trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan in February is nothing Florida born and bred Anna Montgomery expects. Career focused, the frigid business trip may assist Anna with the next rung up the corporate ladder, but she longs to get back to the warmer climate ASAP so she can feel her toes again.

Mother Nature has other plans. A snowstorm delays their flight, leaving them stranded in wintry Michigan. Will their time together ignite more than one night?

Excerpt:

She smiled tightly at Anna. A few minutes later, the agent pushed the printed boarding pass and Anna’s ID across the counter. “Safe travels.”

Anna bit her lip. Safe travels. Ha! How about just “travels”?

She needed to be more optimistic. The flight wasn’t cancelled … yet.

Boarding ticket in hand, she’d head to the security line and then her gate, where she’d wait and flip through her Instagram feed until her plane arrived. Turning on her heels, she bumped face first into a wall of solid muscle. A clean, outdoorsy scent swathed her and immediately made her lightheaded. She stared for a moment at a tan quilted vest jacket lying unzipped over a hard chest, exposing planes of chiseled muscle under the navy-blue long sleeve t-shirt that read Dog Tired Brewery in white script. The picture of a dog lying on its side asleep with its tongue hanging out completed the logo—one she recognized, as they made her favorite seasonal stout.

She clutched his t-shirt, trying to keep her balance. His hard abs flexed under her hands. Heat radiated from him and warmed her frozen fingers, which had been numb for the last several hours.

Lifting her head, her breath caught when her gaze fell on an angular jaw, full lips, and beautiful green eyes. He gripped her arms firmly above the elbows to keep her from falling backward. His warmth seeped through the arms of her peacoat.

“Shit! Are you all right?” His deep, rich voice washed over her.

Heat rushed her cheeks and her body churned with a warmth she’d been missing ever since stepping off the plane in Michigan.

“Uh. Yeah! I… I’m fine.” Yikes. Her hands were plastered against his ripped abdomen. She let them slide down. It wasn’t just the impact of running into him that knocked her off balance. He was the most beautiful creature she’d laid eyes on.

“Are you sure?” The intensity of his stare almost melted her into a puddle at his feet. His eyes, irises flecked with gold, narrowed. “You hit me pretty hard.”

“Yes. I’m so sorry. Sorry for running into you.” She gained control over her wavering voice and unsteady legs.

He released her arms and stepped back.

“I should have been watching where I was going.”

His powerful gaze trailed down her without shame and a warmth followed as if he caressed her bare skin. Her cheeks had never been so on fire.

“No need to apologize.” He grinned. “I’d say it’s my lucky day.” His eyes twinkled.

This stranger was flirting with her.

She cleared her throat. It’s not that men didn’t flirt with her. They did. It was a hazard in her line of business. Insurance was a man’s world, for the most part. She shrugged off the flirtatious advances from the men she worked with. Mixing business with pleasure was a no-no. But this guy … she’d mix just about anything with him. If she were that kind of girl.

“If by lucky, you mean this flight is going to leave on time, then you’re fresh out of luck.” She frowned. “The plane is late coming in, and we’re already on a delay, which I fear will be infinite.” She pointed toward the windows that revealed grey clouds ready to burst with a trillion different snowflakes.

“Blasted!” The deep baritone of his voice sent her hormones into overdrive, but his choice of words made her think of Mike Meyers in an Austin Powers movie, and she couldn’t help but giggle. “What’s so funny?” Though he tried to look offended by her laughter, the smirk on his lips told her he was not.

“Nothing.” Bubbles of laughter still escaped her.

“Well, it seems like something is funny since you keep bursting out in fits of giggles, apparently at my expense.” He ran a hand through his dirty blonde, spiky hair, causing it to stand on end even more.

“Fit of giggles. I’m sorry.” She drew her lips into a thin line to prevent her laughter, but she wasn’t successful and a round of snickers erupted.

“Quit apologizing.” A breathtaking smile appeared, showing off beautiful, straight teeth with a slight gap between his two front teeth. “You must be Catholic or something.”

“Recovering Catholic, actually.” She laughed and gave up on tamping down her mirth. This guy made her smile. His voice. His quick wit. His looks. Good God—his looks. If she were going to be stuck in the airport for any length of time, she might have hit the jackpot.

Great Book
Written by Danee on 4th Jul 2023

A wonderful story, a bit about opposites Rex and Anna are that of each other. When they meet at the airport where they are both stranded, the chemistry and attraction is so intense that after a while they decide to spend the night. After that, Rex wants to keep in touch and keep seeing each other, but because they live far apart, Anna thinks it has no chance of success. When things go wrong after a while and she misses out on a promotion, Rex is blamed. Will Anna be able to make up for her mistake of blaming Rex first? This was a great book to read.

I really enjoyed this read about a one-night stand that turns into something more. Rex was so nice, sweet, and forgiving for a reformed play boy. This was a steamy story with a really good plot line. I can't wait for more stories in this series.

Quick Read, Quick Heat
Written by creative.wilson on 4th Jul 2023

Delayed was about two strangers who meet in an airport during a weather delay and decide to have a tryst. They develop feelings for one another and a HEA is around the corner. This is a spicy book and was a very quick read. Since the timeline was so quick, it was a little hard to believe, but if you believe in love at first sight, this book is up your alley. I would recommend it to anyone who likes HEAs, some spice, and a book to read in one sitting.

a quick read but worth it
Written by Slvrdlphn on 4th Jul 2023

I don't know if I am just a fast reader or if the story was short but one thing I am sure of is that I enjoyed every moment I spent devouring the words of this story. Mother Nature intervenes and allows Rex and Anna the opportunity to connect and fall in love. I only wish these things happened more in real life.

Short and sweet start to the series
Written by mibookobsession on 4th Jul 2023

Just one broken heart had Rex Bancroft swear off relationships for good. He's perfected his technique to pick up his latest hookup and is standing in just the right place for the cute brunette to "accidentally" stumble into him at the airport. A winter storm has them both stranded in icy Michigan and a one night stand seems the perfect distraction. Warm blooded Floridian Anna Montgomery doesn't usually do flings, but there's something about this enigmatic stranger that draws her in. And after one night, she's not ready to let him go. I liked this short and sweet novella written about my home state. Grand Rapids has become beer city for its many indie breweries and I enjoyed reading about Rex being the distributor for his brewery he runs with his best friends. I look forward to the other books in the series.

Written by poll on 9th Jun 2023

Short and spicy romance. Anna and Rex meet when their flight is delayed. The insta heat between them forces Anna to go against her moral code and give in to a possible dream of a one night stand. However, that one night becomes more! Great characters and setting. A wishful thinking read for every flight delay you suffer!

One Night too Forever
Written by Nikki R on 9th Jun 2023

Rex meets Anna when they are stranded at an airport. They have crazy chemistry and decide to spend the night together. Their connection is so passionate that Rex wants to continuing seeing each other. Anna has concerns because they live in different cities and they are busy with work. Anna likes to plan every aspect of her life. Rex convinced her that they can make a relationship work and it does. Anna is overlooked for a promotion and she blames Rex. She feel like he distracted her. After they communicate she realizes that she was wrong to blame Rex. Great book about bumping into your perfect person when you least expect it. Sometimes the best things in life are not planned.

Cute & easy read <3
Written by books.tings on 18th May 2023

4/5 stars!! Great novella! Super quick and easy to read with compelling characters and such an adorable meet cute. It's literally like reading my dreams of having an airport romance. Rex has had his heart closed off since his ex but as soon as he sees Anna while stranded in an airport due to the weather, something changes and he just has to know her. Anna is a very work-oriented person and strives on making plans but after getting to know each other, she can't help but wish for more. They're both so instantly captivated by each other, it's adorable and honestly I believe everyone deserves a Rex (he gives golden retriever energy). I will say though that I couldn't give it a 5 because Anna kind of got on my nerves a few times but I still enjoyed this. This is a first for me from this author and I highly recommend if you need a light and fluffy (level 2 spice) palette cleanser!! Thank you for this ARC, this is my honest review <3

This is a great spicy read. It is a short & fast read and although short it delivered the story just like it was a regular novel length. It didn't leave alot to the imagination as the story evolved that is for sure--very good read--can't wait to see where the series goes next.

Good!
Written by JustMe83 on 18th May 2023

Very good! Loved their banter when they meet and that their jabbing. They instantly had amazing chemistry. I so wish she hadn't fought it for as long as she did but of course then there wouldn't have been a book, lol. Very good though!
