Kendra walked her friends out a little disappointed with how the evening had gone. She wasn’t sure if Ali was open to her or just being nice. Normally, she could tell. Women couldn’t hide anything from her.
Alice was different. Well, she could sense the attraction, but in a small town like this, that wasn’t always enough. Lesbians were mostly still in the closet.
“I forgot my purse,” Alice told Kate as she headed back inside.
“Go with her,” Spencer urged. “Ask her out. She’s into you, I could tell by the way she couldn’t take her eyes off you.”
“Spence,” Kendra said, exasperated.
“And don’t be stupid, get her number.” Spencer winked and strolled after her girlfriend.
Spencer was even bolder than the rest of them. She paraded around town with Kate as if they were any other ordinary couple. Insults seemed to roll off her, and Kate seemed oblivious to everyone except Spencer.
They were the only openly lesbian couple in town.
Kendra went back inside and collided with Alice, who was rushing from the room. The momentum knocked her right off her feet and had Alice sprawling on top of her. Their eyes met, and every nerve in her body sparked to life.
Kendra’s breathing quickened, and Alice’s cheeks flushed. Her sapphire blue eyes darkened. Against her chest, Alice’s nipples hardened.
Now, those were signs Kendra understood.
“I’m-I’m sorry,” Alice stammered.
“It’s okay,” Kendra murmured. “I don’t mind having you plastered all over me.”
Alice scrambled to get up, the embarrassment bright in her eyes.
Shit!
Kendra was on her feet before Alice and helped her up. “Are you okay, Ali?” Kendra asked.
“Fine.” She took a step back, tugging her arm free, the look in her eyes that of understated desire.
Okay, she was interested and embarrassed.
“Let me walk you out,” Kendra suggested. “There’s a light out. The guy’s coming to fix it tomorrow.”
“Oh. Thanks,” Alice said quietly. “I should have been watching where I was going.”
“It’s my fault, too, gorgeous,” Kendra drawled. “Forgive me?”
Alice gave her a little smile then. “Kendra, are you trying to charm me?”
“Is it working?” Kendra asked, giving her a teasing grin.
Alice laughed. “A little.”
“I guess now would be the perfect time for me to ask you out then,” Kendra said. “So, how about it?”
I thought this was a great addition to the Cozy Bend series. I really enjoyed reading about Alice and Kendra. I liked Kendra and how she helped Alice’s mother get better. The story was well written and sexy. It’s a quick read and very easy reading. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series and would recommend it to others. I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review.
