Faith Appleton doesn’t like Gabriel Finch.

He's dangerous, scary, and getting involved with him would be the worst thing to do. When he knocks on her door late one night, he has an ultimatum. Her brother, who she is guardian of, is an addict. For drugs, he was willing to sell his sister and their home for anything he could get his hands on. To save her brother, she has to become Gabriel’s toy.

Gabriel is used to getting what he wants. From the moment he first met Faith, he wanted her, but he knew she would never fall for a man like him. He’s cold, hard, and knows only the harshness of life. To get what he wants, he is also willing to lie.

Her brother didn’t come to him offering up his sister. Nigel came to him for help. He wanted to get clean. So Gabriel will give him that, and in return, he is going to have Faith. She thinks it is just for one month. No, Gabriel has other plans. He wants to keep her, and the way to do that, get her pregnant.

Faith hates him. He’s a horrible person. A jerk. Mean. Vile. At least, that was what she first thought. Gabriel is never horrible to her. He is kind, considerate, sweet, charming, but she knows there is a deadly man inside. A man she couldn’t possibly fall in love with. He refused to wear a condom. She should hate him. But … she can’t hate him.

She has fallen in love with a man she had sworn to hate.

Excerpt:

“What’s happened?” she asked.

He’d not spoken a word. She didn’t know if this made her appear weak, but she really didn’t care. She needed him to answer her.

“How long has your brother been addicted to meth?” Gabriel asked.

Faith opened and closed her mouth, startled. She knew Nigel dabbled, and she hated how her thoughts even made it seem like she was okay with him taking drugs. She wasn’t. All she had ever wanted was the best for him, but now, that seemed almost impossible.

“I … no, he … no,” she said, pressing a hand to her stomach, and the other to her lips. What did she say? “Where is he?”

“Why do you want to know?” Gabriel asked.

“What do you mean, why do I want to know? He’s my brother.”

“Are you going to punish him? Smack him on the ass? Ground him?”

“He’s … nearly nineteen years old.” And she’d never smacked her brother.

“Exactly. He knows there’s no firm hand coming.” Gabriel looked around her sitting room.

She hadn’t put away the pictures of her parents, their family. She and Nigel hadn’t taken many in recent years. There was nothing new or exciting around her family home.

She folded her arms across her chest and glared at him. “Do you know where Nigel is?”

“Yes,” Gabriel said.

His blue gaze turned to hers, and Faith felt frozen to the spot. She had blue eyes as well, but hers were not quite as sharp as Gabriel’s. This man had seen and done a lot of bad things.

Nibbling her lip, she waited for him to speak. This was bad. Everything was telling her that this was bad.

“I was at a card game tonight and your brother came in. He was a mess. Sweating, pale, he looked like he hadn’t eaten a decent meal in weeks. He stunk bad, but he was there to beg for money. Telling me he would give me anything I wanted. In fact, he turned his attention to the whole table of men and said he needed a loan.”

Faith couldn’t believe it. Her brother begging for money.

“What did you do?” she asked.

“I asked him what he would give me in return. He said there was this house. He could give us the deeds, and when none of us showed any interest, he said he had a sister who was still a virgin.”

“What?” Faith asked. She had the deeds for the house locked tight in a safe deposit box. When Nigel began to act irrationally, she had made arrangements so he couldn’t steal the deeds and take the house from her. Their parents had paid for the house and left each of them a small trust fund. Faith still had some of hers left, but Nigel had spent through his within weeks. It wasn’t a large amount of money, which is why Faith had always been cautious about spending hers. She’d wanted it to last.

Not only had he offered them the house, he’d offered them … her.

“You can’t be serious?” she asked.

“I’m very serious,” Gabriel said, taking a step toward her.

She refused to back down.

“Did you … refuse?” she asked.

“No.”

What the hell did that even mean?

“Where is he?”

Gabriel was right in front of her now. He made no move to touch her. “Nigel is in a safe place, but he will only remain in that place if you agree to my conditions.”

What was happening? Where was Nigel? What did he mean by safe?

“What conditions?” she asked.

He smiled. “For the next month, you agree to be mine. You don’t argue. You don’t fight. You are mine, and if you think to act dumb, then know, when I mean mine, I mean, you’re mine to fuck, to play with. Your body is my toy and I can use you any way I want.”

“And if I refuse?”

She knew, deep down, refusing wasn’t an option. If she refused, it would mean bad things for Nigel.

He smiled and it wasn’t a kind smile, it was deadly.

“Nigel has been a rather difficult boy, and he owes a lot of people money. If you refuse, it’s simple, I don’t pay his debts. I’ll let them take it out on him. I’m sure a pretty boy like him would earn a good living working the streets.”

Faith looked at him. “I hate you.”

“I don’t care. I told you it would come to this. I warned you. You’ve got until tomorrow to make your decision.”

I really liked this book, who doesn't love a good pretend romance that turns real but that there is a heated tension mixed in. I couldn't help but devour their (not so) forced relationship, knowing that he was in it playing for keeps. I really liked both main characters and I loved that the female stood out of her own but they were even better together... this author really smashes it when it comes to writing raw, intense stories with that much needed dark/grey area needed. This is a book you need to read for yourself just to see how good it is!!

The thin line...
Written by Vibekke on 31st Oct 2023

When Faith finds herself forced to follow Gabriel Finch bidding because of her little brother's doing she is mortified. To save her heart she decides she hates Gabriel, of course she does, doesn't she. He forces her to submit to him for a month and he will save her brother and keep her safe. And she feels save with him and craves his nearness. When Nigel came to him for help Gabriel saw his chance to get close to the woman in his dreams, he knew he was not worthy of the angel but would do anything to keep her close. There is a thin line between love and hate. I loved this book.

The opposite of hate is love. Gabriel has wanted Faith since the first time he saw her. Faith believes that Gabriel is a horrible man. Gabriel lies to Faith to get her. He tells her that her brother sold her to him for drugs. Faith thinks that she will have to be with Gabriel for a month but Gabriel has other plans. Faith's parents died in a car accident when she was just 18. Faith took on the responsibility of raising her younger brother Nigel. Nigel got into trouble with drugs and loans from bad people. Desperate for his next fix he offers up their home for a loan and then his virgin sister Faith. Gabriel had been interested in Faith for a long time and had tried to woo her with anonymous gifts of flowers and chocolates. She always returned the items. The only way Gabriel felt he could get to Faith was through her brother. Gabriel makes a deal with Faith for her to be his plaything for a month. She agrees in order to save her brother. I enjoyed this book very much. Gabriel is a fantastic character and he loves Faith very well. I highly recommend this book.

Faiths brother was in a bad way with addiction. Since losing their parents at 18 she became Nigel’s parent. But at 16 he became a problem. He ran into Gabriel who is not a good person. He begged for Gabriel’s help. Gabriel wanted Faith in return, for a month. In that time he would help angel get clean. Could he claim Faith in that amount of time?

I loved I Hate You. Faith has no choice but to do what Gabriel says to save her brother. She really wants to hate Gabriel but he makes it so hard. He makes her want him so badly but she knows it’s only temporary. Gabriel doesn’t do love but he won’t give up Faith, she’s perfect. What happens when she finds out the truth? This was a great storyline and I loved the characters. She’s the light while he’s the darkness. She’s willing to do anything to save her brother and he’s going to take advantage of that. I would definitely recommend this book.

Faith had been bringing her brother up since he was 11 due to their parents been killed in a car crash. They had the best upbringing, surrounded by love a happy home and then one night Everything changed. Faith always got on well with her brother Nigel but he had gone off the tracks as he got older now, he was into drugs, he was just a wreck and Faith was worried sick about him. She hasn’t seen him for a few days when there is a knock at her door and out side she finds Gabriel Finch. He is your worst nightmare he’s a gangster. Everyone fears him and faith tried to stay under his radar but it seems her brother hasn’t. When Gabriel walked into Faiths home. He could tell she hadn’t changed anything since she had lost her parents at the young of the age of 18. She took on her brother because she didn’t want him to go into care. And Gabriel wanted her. And now he had his in. You see, Gabriel tells her that Nigel was selling her off to pay off his debts claiming she was still a virgin, and Gabriel took him up on that offer paid off all his debts, and now she had to decide whether to spend a month as his toy or something bad would happen to Nigel. And he knew Faith would jump at any opportunity to help Nigel. Not all is what it seems, because the attraction and the chemistry these two have together is off the charts and Gabriel is going to use every single opportunity. He has so faith will stay with him. Faith sees a different side of Gabriel but would it be enough?? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was gutted when it came to an end.

Faith’s brother is addicted to drugs and has been borrowing money from bad people. Luckily for him Gabriel has been looking out for him and paying his debts. Gabriel hasn’t done this out of the goodness of his heart. He is deeply infatuated with Faith. In fact he tells Faith if she agrees to be his “toy” for a month then he will help her brother. Faith agrees but she doesn’t realize Gabriel has other plans for her. And after the month is over that she might still enjoy being his toy. Great story about a guy willing to do anything to get his girl.

He gets what he wants.
Written by Juliet18 on 31st Oct 2023

He gets what he wants. Gabriel uses what Faith loves the most to get Faith to stay by his side. This story was amazingly put together. Gabriel and Faith are sizzling hot together, but the only problem is Faith hates Gabriel with a passion. The saying goes, there is a thin line between love and hate. And this author found that perfect balance. Gabriel's actions prove that he has a soft side, where Faith is concerned. Gabriel is very protective of Faith and that shines throughout the book. I really, really enjoyed reading this book. I cannot wait to read more of Sam Crescent's work.

Thin Hate Line
Written by Beast's Beauty on 31st Oct 2023

Gabriel Finch comes off the pages as yep it is me and she is mine. Faith reminded me so much of myself I wasn't sure if the story was a diary entry or fiction. I love how Sam dealt with addiction...told it would it being over-bearing or insulting to the reader. You could feel every emotion and early on you find that Gabriel is not anything what other see his as but a man who wants love but doesn't think he deserves it or believes he can love...Faith brought it out of him. I love that Gabriel understood human nature and saw Faith no only for who she was but what she was to him that is why he did what he did. By the end he knew his only weakness and strength all was rolled up in Faith...I still don't think she realizes her hold over him but she feels his love and that is really all she will ever need from Gabriel.

She was strong, caring and just trying to keep her head above the water. I loved her loyalty to her brother and felt her pain. Gabriel was over the top possessive and a little obsessed with Faith. I loved his determination and commitment to what he wanted. Their chemistry and spice was through the roof!!!

This is a nice sweet story, where of course the male main character do everything to be with the female main character. She should hate him, but she crossed that line between hate and love.

Written by jessica on 26th Sep 2023

Sam Crescent has a way of making a character like Gabriel, someone who lies about something as horrible as being offered up as payment for drugs and is not really someone you would think of as a generally nice guy into someone that you actually end up rooting for and look for redeeming qualities in him. While at the same time giving us wonderful female leads that with first glance may not seem like much but are a wonderful well developed characters that are prove that you can be kind and strong. Faith is a wonderful character, just trying to take care of her brother and will do whatever it takes to keep him safe. The deal with Gabriel does just that but also provides her with something see was missing that she didn't realize she was. I loved it and will continue to go back to anything Sam Crescent writes.

This was a good book. Gabriel blackmails Faith to be with him. Her brother is addicted to drugs and he uses this as leverage against Faith. She wants to hate him because of how they started but she can’t. Gabriel realizes that he loves Faith. He knows he won’t let her go but he doesn’t know how to tell her. Faith discovers the truth and confronts Gabriel. They finally are honest about their feelings. Gabriel gets a family he never had and Faith gets her man.

Gabriel (H) is powerful, used to getting what he wants, and he’s decided he wants Faith (h). He informs her that her drug addicted brother, Nigel, was trying to sell their family home and Faith’s virginity, and if Faith wants Nigel to be safe, then she’ll become Gabriel’s woman for the next month. Faith is horrified but gives in to Gabriel’s demands, willing to do anything to save Nigel. Things quickly heat up between Gabriel and Faith, but as she spends more time with Gabriel, Faith’s finds it harder and harder to hold on to her hate for Gabriel. Gabriel’s methods are controlling and manipulative, but even though he professes to know nothing about love, his actions are so sweet, caring, and supportive of Faith. Written by coffeesmom on 29th Jul 2023

Gabriel is obsessed with Faith so he uses the fact that her brother is a drug addict to get her. The brother goes to Gabriel to get clean or to sell her for drugs as he tells Faith. Gabriel sees this as his way in. This bad boy definitely knows how to use an opportunity to his advantage. I like how the author not only gives Faith a back story but we also get a very detailed background on how Gabriel became the sexy, bad boy Faith hates that she loves.

Written by Makeen on 29th Jul 2023

Sam Crescent has written another wonderful emotional love story. ‘I Hate You’ is an achingly tender tale of Gabriel’s pursuit of Faith. He’s never had a family or someone to love him: he’s a bad man who does bad things. She’s raised her brother after their parent’s death and has ignored her own hopes and dreams. Gabriel and Faith’s journey starts with a lie and ultimatum, but their attraction and compatibility grows into a deeper relationship. He’s patient, passionate, and thoughtful with her. She’s compassionate, authentic, and mesmerized by him. I really enjoyed the feelings Sam evoked in this couple!

Gabriel and Faith
Written by MJWilson45 on 29th Jul 2023

I thought the story line was good. I wouldn't really call it a bully or dark romance. Gabriel wasn't mean to Faith nor did he bully her. He did use the love that she had for brother to manipulate her. Faith was sweet but lost since her parents died leaving her to raise her brother when she was 18. I actually liked Gabriel even though he was suppose to be dangerous he showed a different side to Faith.

loving at heart
Written by Thisbe on 29th Jul 2023

*spoilers* Gabriel Flinch knew immediately that he wants Faith. He knows that she is not the type of woman who would go for a man like him. When her parents died she was just 18 and took care of her brother Nigel and worked hard to provide for them. Although she did her best Nigel got addicted to drugs and involved with people on the wrong side of the law. He even came close to offer up his sister. Gabriel knows that this is his way to get Faith, knowing she loves her brother and will protect him. He tells her he will keep Nigel save if she becomes his for one month. He already send him to a remote place to detox. Nigel asked him for help, which Gabriel offered to him. Gabriel first seems to live up to his reputation as a monster, when his terms are that Faith becomes his toy. But then he is not mean or harsh. When taking her virginity Gabriel breaks several of his own rules, like kissing and licking. First he wanted Faith for a month, now he takes her bare trying his best to get her pregnant and have a permanent bond. Will they be able to see inside the heart and become family? Of course this in real life is horrible and not romantic at all, but in fiction things are different. Gabriel steps in to help her brother and he is not just tkaing Faith, but caring and protecting her. In his own way he is sweet and more caring than he ever thought. When he cooks her favorite recipe like her mom wrote it down, it is so sweet and caring. He searched her home, which is of course overstepping the boundaries, to get to know her. Learning about his difficult childhood and seeing her loyalty, they seem meant to be. Gabriel claims not to know what love is, but has already deeply fallen for Faith. There are so deep feelings in each of them for each other. How tey care for Nigel and being happy when the other person is happy, that was so deep and touching. I devoured it.

Interesting tale of obsession, loneliness, manipulation and little white lies. Some discussion of past crimes including murder and a secondary character overcoming drug addiction. It was a gritty tale but yet it drew the reader in.

Enemies to lovers
Written by A. Adams on 29th Jul 2023

There's a thin line between love and hate. This relationship definitely starts off with hate. This is a shorter book. It is spicy and steamy. Faith's brother is in trouble. Gabriel is willing to help Faith's brother but at a cost. The cost, to become Gabriel's toy for a month. This is just one small part of Gabriel's real plan. At some point Faith stops hating Gabriel. Can this relationship last after a month when Gabriel misled Faith about so many things? Gabriel is a monster but he has true feelings for Faith.

I Hate You

He’d Do Anything To Claim Her! Gabriel Finch was a bad boy, he was cold and ruthless in business but from the moment he set eyes on Faith, he wanted her with a passion! Her brother had come to him for help and in return, he’d decided to claim Faith for his own! He told her it was only for a month but he’d decided to get her pregnant so he could keep her forever. A hot steamy read with wonderful characters, I love how Gabriel character interacted with Faith and how he would do anything to make her happy. She knew he was ruthless and he’d taken her to bed far quicker than she expected but for some reason, she just could not resist him! The bed sheets and anywhere else were constantly on fire with their passion. A fast paced love story with lots of emotion and a fantastic HEA.

There's a little good in everyone!
Written by Laura S. on 29th Jul 2023

This is a typical Sam Crescent story; our hero, Gabriel, is a bad guy who doesn't want anyone to know that he can do good, and uses coercion and threats to get what he wants. And he wants someone good, Faith, who he thinks would never want him, thus the threats and coercion! The story is gritty, and their interactions are steamy! What will happen when Faith has fulfilled their bargain? Is there a chance they could stay together when their relationship was built on a lie? Sometimes it's a thin line between hate and love!

Great story

When Faiths brother goes to Gabriel for help getting clean Gabriel sees this as his way to getting what he wants, Faith. When Gabriel comes to collect Faith telling her brother has given her to him for his debts, she thinks it's just one month with a man she hates, but Gabriel's nothing like the man she thought, well not to her, but could there ever be something real when it's been built on a lie? Well written steamy fast paced instant heat, forced proximity, deal romance

Blown away
Written by Eve S. on 29th Jul 2023

At first impression Gabriel is a calculated mob boss that ruthlessly obsessed over Faith. Her brother Nigel is reckless and addicted to drugs/alcohol. He turns to Gabriel for help and Gabriel finally has his chance to make Faith his, well got at least 30 days. I greatly enjoyed the interaction s between Faith and Gabriel, they are both much better together.

Faith and Gabriel
Written by Raweso76 on 29th Jul 2023

Gabriel falls for Faith love at first sight. He doesn't believe in love because of his childhood. Faith only cared about her brother and keeping him safe. Gabriel uses that to his advantage and takes Faith for his own. She ends up falling for him and they make a life together.

This was a good book...a little bit of a dark romance. I loved the characters. I loved the storyline. It had moments of spiciness and sweetness. Just a great book.

So good!

I loved this one! Faith was trying to save her brother and got caught in Gabriel's web. The push-pull between these two was so good, but underneath it all, Gabriel was willing to do anything to get the girl.
