Mafia Brides, 1

Alex Greco hates her husband.

To keep the peace between her crime lord father and the Greco mafia’s boss, she’s forced to marry his son, Roman. He’s cold and has a reputation for hurting those close to him. There is no wedding night, and the first months of their marriage are awful.

Roman doesn’t want a wife, and certainly not an outsider who doesn’t know their ways. Unlike the women he’s used to, Alex thinks for herself and isn’t afraid to tell him no. He plans to prove she isn’t a sweet innocent, and he orders his friends to seduce her to show she’s not worthy of him.

When her life is endangered, it is up to Roman to save her and the peace pact between their families. By his father’s order, he has to make this stubborn woman fall in love with him.

Her husband is not as cold and callous as Alex originally thought. He’s a monster to everyone but her, and she never expected to fall in love with him.

She didn’t count on finding out he was a liar, either. His father told him to make her fall in love with him, but how far was he willing to go?

Excerpt:

Roman was taller, bigger, and it was impossible. That diary was the last one she had written in. She hadn’t taken it to his place because she had worried he’d find it. The last entries were all leading up to their arranged marriage, and of course their wedding, the night before, at least. There was no other entry because she’d been with him, with no way of talking to her diary.

Her towel gave way, and Alex didn’t grab it immediately. The protection she had fell to the floor, around her feet.

She cried out and scrambled to get her towel, only to have Roman reach for it as well. Alex wasn’t entirely sure what happened, but they somehow managed to bump heads, and she ended up on the floor, not covered, and Roman stared at her.

Panic filled her, and she scrambled for the towel and her diary. Roman seemed to still as she got both and pulled away from him.

Within seconds, it became a tug of war as Roman grabbed the diary, and she had no choice but to turn her back and immediately wrap the towel around her.

Roman had never seen her naked.

No man had seen her naked.

Her heart raced.

“Please give me back my diary,” she said, keeping her back to him.

Her face was so hot. She had never been so embarrassed in her life.

“No.” He stepped past her. She tried to grab his shirt, but she had no choice but to keep one hand on her chest.

“Please.”

Roman turned at the door. “You’re my wife, and a Greco never begs. Don’t do it.”

He slammed the bathroom door, and Alex gritted her teeth. She wanted to call her father, to ask him to demand that Roman give her diary back, but that would be involving her father in a pathetic spat.

Roman was just being a pain in the ass. She got it, and kind of understood it, even if she didn’t completely agree with him and his asshole ways.

After stepping into her closet, she opened the drawers and pulled out a pair of shorts and a tank. It was warm, and she wished she could have head-to-toe pajamas, but that would be way too uncomfortable.

Her hair was nearly dry, and stepping out of her closet, she went to her dresser to run a brush through it. Her bed looked so inviting as she stared at it. Did she want to sink into the soft covers or fight with Roman again?

She glanced at the bathroom door and decided he had already taken way too much of her attention. Sticking her tongue out, which was completely childish to do, she stepped over to her bed, pulled back the covers, and slid right inside.

The moment she lay down and stared up at the ceiling, she closed her eyes and just basked in being back home, in her bed, away from Roman … ish. He was in her father’s home, and currently in her shower or reading her diary, but that didn’t change the fact she was finally home.

Roman’s home and apartment were all his. His bachelor pad. His domain. Where another woman had decorated and made it the vision he wanted. She was a stranger in his home and in his world.

She didn’t mind not being close to anyone all her life. Having Liam as a dad guaranteed that people weren’t her friend. She lived with it, dealt with it. It was probably the only part of her life that made it easier to deal with Roman’s world.

The shower stopped, and Alex rolled over so she wasn’t facing him. She had no idea where he was going to sleep.

Growling, she shoved her blankets off and then climbed out of bed. The man was an insufferable bastard, and he pissed her off all the damn time.

She walked back into her closet and grabbed spare blankets and some pillows.

With them in hand, she stepped back into her bedroom at the same time as Roman entered.

“I’ll be sleeping in the bed,” Roman said.

“No, you’re not. That is my bed, and you’re not sleeping in it.”

He raised a brow. “Where you sleep, I sleep.”

“We don’t sleep together at your place, and it’s not happening now.”

Roman chuckled. “You’re a spoiled little princess used to getting your own way.”

“And you’re a brute and a bully used to taking what he wants. You’re not sleeping in my bed. Simple as that.”

In response, Roman eased the towel from around his waist, and Alex gasped, closing her eyes. She didn’t see anything, and staring at her husband’s naked body didn’t appeal to her, not in the slightest.

She heard rustling, and when she opened her eyes, she saw Roman was beneath her blankets on her side of the bed, with her damn diary.

Alex wanted to scream at him. “You’re naked in my bed? Your ass is, like, making an impression.”

“My ass is nice and warm. There is enough room for both of us.”

She glared at him and then moved toward the window where she had a few beanbags from her days of being a child and not wanting to use conventional chairs.

Nudging them together, she made herself a little bed, much like she had when she was a child, and then, somehow found a way to build a bed for herself.

It was so uncomfortable, not like before when she was so young. This wasn’t her bed. It wasn’t comfortable, but it would do.

With the blanket thrown over her, she got comfortable, aware of the noise the bags were making, but eventually, she got comfortable.

The light was still on, and the only sound she heard was the unmistakable sound of the pages turning.

A steamy, quick novella
Written by Eria SB on 5th Mar 2023

Her ex fiancé rejected her, his family was the reason behind her torture, her family and the mafia world considered her a pariah but Giovanni saved her, loved her and protected her. This was a steamy, quick novella (I wish there was more) that I really enjoyed. TW: Death of loved one (off page), abduction and torture (off page) *Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an ARC in exchange for a review.*

Really loved this book, highly recommend
Written by Kazza on 11th Oct 2022

Wow i really enjoyed this book. I loved the storyline and the characters. I loved that the female character was just as strong as the male character. Roman and Alex were great for each other, it just took Roman some time to see it. Plus he was being an idiot at the beginning of this book. I loved how Roman and Alex progressed throughout this book. How they grew as people but also as a couple. Especially as they had their hands full. Highly recommend

Great start to a new series...filled with everything you want from this author

Mafia Monster's Forced Bride is the first book in the new Mafia Brides series. If you have read any books by Sam Crescent before then you know what you are in for and this first book in the series delivers it all....Mafia families, an arranged marriage, a dark, brooding, brutal and possessive alpha H, a smart, beautiful and feisty h, and a story-line that at times is dark and brutal and at others is emotional and passionate. I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Mafia Monster's Forced Bride by Sam Crescent is the First book in the Mafia Brides Series. This is the story of Alex and Roman who are forced to be married. Roman and Alex challenge.
Written by Filipa_al on 23rd Sep 2022

Alex and Roman's wedding is an arrangement that will benefit both families. The way she was raised Alex is not a woman who submits to others, always speaking her mind and adhering to her ideals. Roman, even though he's older, never wanted to, least of all with someone who refuses to take the virginity test. The beginning of the marriage is not easy, the two cannot stand each other. The early days are filled with animosity, he doesn't believe she's innocent and she doesn't want to be a weakling.

Great read
Written by Melissa B on 28th Aug 2022

This was a great read. Most arranged marriages don't start off great, then add the mafia to it and its really bad. I liked that this had children that were in an orphanage and Alex loved them no matter what and wanted them as her own. They worked together and made their marriage work even through the hard times. I'm a new reader to this author s books but look forward to reading many more.

This is a great start to the Mafia Brides series and I can't wait for more! Roman, son of Mafia boss Lucas Greco, has his marriage arranged to Alex, daughter to criminal kingpin Liam Smith. When the Greco family demand proof of her "purity", she refuses to be examined. Alex finds it intrusive and demeaning and Roman thinks she has something to hide. After the wedding, Roman continues with his doubts and acts like a jerk, but he is honoring his vows and doesn't cheat on Alex, even though the marriage has not been consummated. As much as Roman ignores, berates her, even tries to trick her into being unfaithful, Alex just gets on with her life. She is a determined, smart, strong woman who is determined to live her life inspire of her husband. This surprises and intrigues Roman. Can this marriage turn into a love match. The book is full of drama, tension, action, sizzle, steam, and more. I can't wait for more (hopefully Roman's friends). Great read by Sam Crescant

Love this story and the family
Written by RaeWoodland on 28th Aug 2022

The story take the idea of family to another level and it is pure perfection. I love the family they are able to create, it is a bit of a dream of mine as well. The dark side of this story was a lot of action but not as dark as some stories from this author. It is mainly centered on the themes of trust and family

Thrilling page turner!!
Written by Wendy Livingstone on 28th Aug 2022

This is the 1st in a new series, and this is Roman and Alex’s journey. An arranged marriage is forced upon Roman and Alex as an alliance between their two families. These two dislikes and don’t trust each other, and Alex is unlike the women that Roman usually likes, as she is not afraid to stand up for herself. When Alex becomes a target from enemies, Roman is forced to spend more time with her, and realises that she is different from what he thought. This is a well written story which is an enemies / lover’s romance, with lies, betrayal, suspense, intrigue, danger, family, trust, friendships, secrets, and love, which leads to a thrilling and addictive page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Intense!
Written by Kmhall on 19th Aug 2022

Mafia romance at its best. This the kind of story this author is known best for! I loved the idea of the story and the dark intenseness that comes with it. Both main characters were written and developed amazingly. The main female character was a strong character who you couldn't help but love and in a way be in her corner. The main male character had his moments but I think most of the story he was trying to be what was expected of him, because of his position. However, in the end it all works out but its one intense ride on the way to get there, with so many conflicting emotions for you to experience along the way. I really did enjoy this book and I honestly didn't want it to end but I know that it needed to, that they needed to get to their happy ending-ish. The ending makes it totally worth the read!!

Super hot read with loads of excitement
Written by Anne Harris on 18th Aug 2022

Super hot read with loads of excitement Alex was not happy about the arranged marriage to Roman. It was because her father was a crime Lord and Roman‘s father was a mafia boss and together they could stop the wars, they could stop the fighting and the killing of their men. Roman didn’t trust Alex he had asked that she take a virginity test and because she said no he instantly thought she’d already slept around. Therefore he didn’t want to spend any time with him. Even asking his friends to try and bed her. Roman was in for a shock because Alex was so sweet and innocent in everything. She’s got a tender heart But when Roman starts to see this, all hell breaks loose when somebody tries to kill Alex. Can Roman keep her safe will they ever grow to be a happily married couple?? This was an exciting read I’ll be very honest and say I did not like Roman at the beginning of this book but to see the soft side of him as he gets to know Alex and to help her fulfil her dreams was just beautiful. They have true chemistry and the passion between them is out of this world but what really got me was the true tender love that they felt for one another but it didn’t come smoothly. A really good read thoroughly enjoyed this book

Arranged Marriage Enemies to Lovers
Written by Samkat on 18th Aug 2022

Alex and Roman are tasked with joining their families through an arranged marriage, but neither one trusts the other. This marriage is meant to join these two crime syndicate families together and these two feel the pressure. Roman makes some mistakes and sets up Alex for betrayal and has to make amends when he is wrong. They have a lot set against them and warring between each other doesn't get them any happiness. They have to set aside their petty squabbles and find that they actually care for each other deeply. I enjoyed this enemies to lovers, Mafia romance. This is one of my favorite tropes and this book was very enjoyable.

“Roman had never taken the time to look into her eyes before.”
Written by Anij on 18th Aug 2022

Solid mafia romance where the couple are in an arranged marriage and dislike each other. There were a lot of good things including an unusual hero and heroine and his interesting and fun friends. This is in no way a dark romance and while it’s still explicit there are less bedroom scenes than this author’s books usually have. There are even a number of amusing scenes. I laughed at Roman reading her diary like he had a right to and the “lessons” in the basement were hysterical. The story it completely unbelievable but that’s ok, it’s a romance novel not a biography. As usual, the editing is atrocious, but that’s pretty much a given in all of Sam’s books. Probably more 3 1/2 stars but I rounded up because I found it entertaining watching Roman mess up and stumble so much, much to the amusement of his friends! This is first in a series and clearly Roman’s three bff’s will be getting their own stories. I really liked them all, especially Antonio, and will look forward to reading them all.

It's nice to read a story where the heroine doesn't feel like she has to succumb to archaic rules to please the menfolk! This is not the typical mafia story that I read but Alex and Mille drew me in to theirs. They are married in the hopes of uniting their families. It is a good story line that had me connecting with Millie as she earned Alex respect.

Being in an arranged marriage can be hard especially if you are Alex & Roman. Alex is the apple of her daddy's eye and Roman is the heir of Greco family mafia line. As Roman & Alex gets to know each other they find out not all rumors are truth, there are family secrets being hidden from them both. If you don't watch out love will bite you in the butt. A good sexy story of two very unlikely parties coming together to find love and create their own unique family unit.

Roman and Alex
Written by weaveswife on 18th Aug 2022

Wow. There aren't enough words to say how awesome this was. Roman was such a jerk in the beginning, but man did he redeem himself, as did his friends. I love reading about a guy that has never been in love and he doesn't even realize when he falls in love. Lol. Alex was simply amazing. She was the perfect FMC. She is so strong. She is also so special compared to the women Roman is used to. He can't even fathom or consider that she's actually good. It gets to a point where he can't deny that fact. I loved watching these two fall in love. It was so well written. Everything flowed excellently.

Good
Written by Tripti S on 18th Aug 2022

The story of the book was pretty good. Really like both the MC of the book. One thing that needs to be improved is that there was not a lot of explanation given about the Male character i.e., Roman's family. No explanation about his mother, how many siblings he has, about his friends. Other than this the book was good. Alex's loving nature for orphan kids and her determination to adopt all the kids was what appealed to me the most.

This is book one in The Mafia Bride's series and it is Alex and Roman's story. Alex and Roman have an arranged marriage to join the two family's together for business reasons but they don't get on at all but it was great to eventually watch them change and grow and I loved how Alex took no messing from Roman and stood up for herself even when he challenged her. I really enjoyed reading this book as it had great characters and storyline along with danger, betrayal, suspense, action, intrigue and difficult situations that had you turning the pages to see what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them and if they would get a happy ending after all the ups and downs that they went through. I look forward to reading more book's by this author in the future.

Written by Michelle C on 16th Aug 2022

I loved this one! I really enjoyed the fact that the heroine Alex wasn’t the usual mafia bride. She had a backbone and when the hero messed up she actually made him earn her forgiveness. Enemies to lovers romance
Written by Cindy V on 16th Aug 2022

Alex enters into an arranged marriage with Roman to keep the peace between the two crime families. Neither of them want to be married to the other and mostly ignore each other until an attempt is made on Alex's life. Roman saves her and has to protect her and while his father tells him quite crudely to make his reluctant wife fall in love with him, Roman has feelings of his own. He grows to like her and wants to make their marriage real. I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance. Roman was an alphahole who got his friends to try and seduce his wife to discredit her to his father and they believed that Alex was a good woman way before Roman did. Very much a slow burn for Sam Crescent but still with enough spice to keep me interested. I liked that they got to know each other and that it was in no way an insta love and Alex was no door mat.

Dude....this was good! I didn't expect to like it so much but honestly the only complaints I have is a few continuity errors and typos. I absolutely loved his friends trying to teach them how to pretend to be in love. I laughed out loud at those parts. The pure craziness of how clueless those two were. Freaking adorable. When Roman finally realized what love is. Wow. Just wow. Excellent slow burn, age gap, grumpy sunshine arranged marriage...all the stuff.

A very good book.
Written by Pat L on 10th Aug 2022

This book was really a good book. Yes, it had moments where you were like really? But when you get past those you can see that the author really developed these two characters throughout the book. Alexa and Roman are forced to marry to untie two families. Neither care nor like the other one. Roman is really just a character with no emotion so he runs on fear and responds that way. Alexa living by herself for the most part decides she does not need a man or a marriage to complete her. Once Roman finds love for her and you think she is for him another piece comes undone. So instead of running he stays and works at fixing himself hoping she will see. Yes, it has moments of violence and suspense but really it is a love story of two people finding themselves so they can be hopefully a stronger couple if they both can get past their fears. A very good book.

Finally now I know what the hype is all about and it’s totally worth checking this author out. I really enjoyed the writing style and characters development. It definitely keeps you hooked. The premise of the story is an arranged marriage between two mafia families . Alex and Roman are forced to marry to keep the peace. Both of them don’t want to get married and go in unwillingly . The beginning of their marriage is turbulent and not smooth, but eventually things work out for them. I enjoyed the slow burn romance between these two. Overall it was a wonderful read. Can’t wait to read more books by Ms Crecent.

Captivating
Written by RedFlower on 7th Aug 2022

I loved the main characters and it is great to have a storyline where the woman is strong, loving and very astute. Alex and Roman as main characters, ignored each other in the beginning but then things changed... I found it gripping and funny at times. Also I found Alex and her dad's relationship remarkable, they had a solid and devoted relationship. I have to admit that in same parts of the book, I felt teary, which was a plus for me. It was a very good read and I cannot wait to read more great books form this author.

What a book!
Written by Emma D on 7th Aug 2022

Dang!!! What a book! I loved the storyline of Alex and Roman. When their arranged marriage began it looked hopeless. Due to Alex's steadfast personality and immovable morals, this gave Roman a heck of a lot of trouble. He thought she was an anchor around his neck and not worthy to be his wife and doubted the truth of her virginity. Most of the book surrounded their struggle getting to know one another and fall in love. At the same time someone was out to kill Alex. Little did anyone know it was an inside job. Roman also found out about Alex's love for the orphans of a particular orphanage. There was a dark secret there and it really was despicable when it came to light. A great story. A must read. You will not be disappointed. I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. Reasons I enjoyed this book: Action-packed Easy-to-read Entertaining Happily Ever After Page-turner Realistic Steamy Tragic Unpredictable Wonderful characters

Perfect mafia love story
Written by Sara G on 7th Aug 2022

From the first pages, this story is original and pulls you in with its characters. It’s a mafia love story that shows the good and the bad, and that being true to yourself is the most important thing. It’s a little dark and twisted, but perfectly balanced. Great book!

Holy steamy spicy HEA mafia book
Written by Sarah ES on 6th Aug 2022

This book has it all, steam, spice, and a HEA!! Roman is sex on a stick amazing while his bride is purity embodied. This book is fantastic. For a mafia book the world building and characters was done very well. I couldn’t put this book down, and I was able to read this book in 1 day. The twist toward the end, drumroll please… completely blindsided me. Great job Sam Crescent. I wish the rest of the series was available on Kindle Unlimited!!

They start to realize that they kinda like spending time to together and soon things turn in to something much more than just forced marriage. This is another fantastic read from Sam Crescent! This book had it all! I laughed and I cried. There was suspense and romance. If you like slow burn and an alpha read this book. I liked that the Heroine wasn’t typical. She has heart!! She melts the alpha’s heart too… eventually. This story will stay with me for a while. I had all the feels from this book!

Good story line
Written by Peta Benjamin on 6th Aug 2022

I enjoyed this book by Sam Crescent. I'm right into the Mafia genre at the moment and I was very pleased that this book had a good story line. Not over the top voilence and sex, which is quite a change. I found the main characters of Roman and Alex to be very entertaining and loved how strong Alexwas with her "take no crap" attitude. It was also great to see the main male character of Roman be able to see where he made mistakes and take responsibility for them. This was a book that I read straight through, so not too long. If you like a good Mafia romance book then I recommend Mafia Monster's Forced Bride. Thanks to Netgalley and Sam Crescent for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.

Wow!
Written by Kait M on 3rd Aug 2022

I received an ARC for my honest opinion. Alex can't stand her husband and the feeling is mutual. Their marriage is nothing but a business arrangement for their family. The first few months are filled rude exchanges and nothing more - not even a wedding night. Roman never wanted a wife and he's not about to change his mind for someone who won't prove her virginity. He doesn't believe she's actually as innocent as she appears so he has his closest friends try to seduce her to find out her the intentions. When his father demands him to get closer to her and he does, will he ruin the trust and feelings they have built for each other? Wow! I am blown away by how amazing this book was. Alex may be sweet and innocent but she doesn't let people walk all over her - not even her husband. I LOVE the relationship she has with her father and Millie. Roman appears to be a terrible person but trust me he redeems himself and grovels - he knows how badly he messed up and does everything in his power to make it right. I loved their chemistry and their whole story - children included.

What a wonderful story - the story begins two months after an arranged marriage to bring together two families. How the characters grow and develop as they work together to build a relationship while trying to figure out who is causing issues is beautiful.

strong, independent characters
Written by Ga1 on 2nd Aug 2022

Alex is forced to marry Roman. When the story picks up they are already very unhappy. This was a great read. Alex was raised to be strong and independent and is greatly loved by her father. Roman is unused to not having his wife or a woman fawn all over him. Along the way he sets up schemes to uncover who Alex really is not buying her innocent act. When Alex is put in danger, Roman begins to recognize his true feelings for her and will at any cost protect her.

Great story
Written by PHOENIX96 on 2nd Aug 2022

Alex had been married to Roman to form an alliance between her father and the Greco family. Roman is a cold man, he didn't want a wife and is set on proving her innocence is false, she doesnt fit in his world. But when Alex becomes the target of family enemies, Romans father demands he seduce his wife to love him, so they won't be embarrassed by an annulment, but will his act become real? Or will his secret be discovered and shatter any illusion Alex had about their growing relationship? Are other plans at work to destroy the two families? Well written, teasingly steamy, forced marriage, slow burning, action, desires and more!

Excellent beginning to the series
Written by memes on 2nd Aug 2022

Alex and Roman are married through an arranged marriage and neither one of them wants to be married. Alex married Roman because her father asked her to, she loves her father and trusts him. Roman ignores Alex and is sometimes even rude to her. Roman doesn't trust Alex and despite being married they are not intimate the night of their marriage. Fast forward and both of their fathers don't like the way their marriage is appearing to the outside world. Once you get into the book a little more the romance appears. Alex has such a capacity for love and was allowed to grow up to be independent and use her mind. Roman is used to having women fawn all over him and is thrown for a loop when Alex doesn't fawn all over him. There is action and a little violence in the story. There is a little intrigue that runs through almost the majority of the book, its a kind of who's the bad guy kind of intrigue. There's some humor in the book and a lot of cuteness from some kids. Some stuff happens and I wondered if they would end up together in the end. This story is an excellent beginning to the Mafia Brides series.

Enemy's to Lovers
Written by Bookbunny on 2nd Aug 2022

Roman was to marry Alex Smith. She wasn’t what he expected. She was a princess and he certainly didn’t plan to love her. Her being a virgin is a lie. He plans to prove it by having his friends flirt with her. But things don’t turn out as he thought. Alex hated her husband. She didn’t plan to marry. When her father set this up she wasn’t happy. But for the good of the families, she would do what’s right. Her husband didn’t like her. She just needed to keep her distance and keep to herself. No love lost. When an attack came about, now Roman has to protect her. But as they get close and learn more about each other is the heart getting involved? I love this story. I has been in tears from the beginning of the story. Roman was cruel and stubborn. Alex just kept away from him. Made sure she did what is needed as a Mafia wife. She had a feeling his friends flirting was a set up. She was cautious but when things between them turns, you start to think ok this is going to be great. Then she finds out about the plan. OMG I had to keep tissue on hand because when you think it is getting better, BANG something else happens and my heart breaks and I’m in tears. You have to give it to his friend’s Marlo, Cash, and Antonio, they wanted to see these two together. As they said, they just fit.

Written by Shortbec on 2nd Aug 2022

This is almost a mystery book tied in with mafia. So Alex and Roman were made to marriage to bring the 2 families together. But once married these two could not get along mostly on his part as his was bitter about Alex not wanting to go through with the virginity test. But when a mysterious hit is sent out on Alex, Roman steps up to protect her. When things almost Alex dreams almost become a reality things come crashing down when secrets are revealed and the mastermind makes himself know.

Unpredictable!
Written by Keaton W on 2nd Aug 2022

Roman and Alex are forced into a marriage by their powerful fathers to cement an alliance. Roman assumes that she is a greedy slut because that’s what he’s used to from women. Alex hates being around men and just wants to live her life going to college and visiting the kids at the orphanage. Soon after the marriage and alliance, attempts on Alex’s life begin. Roman also tries to resist his wife, trying to convince himself in ways that end up damaging their relationship. I love how this had the feeling of a classic mafia, forced marriage, enemies to lovers, but at the same time, I couldn’t predict ANYTHING that happened (in the best way possible). I read this book in less than 24 hours because I wanted to figure out how every little piece turned out! Just when you think you’ve got all the answers to a question the storyline created, it’ll pop on a new layer

Wow!
Written by RhondaVB on 2nd Aug 2022

Within the first few pages, I was totally prepared to hate Roman. He seemed to be completely disinterested in his wife. Even going so far as to have some of his men try to "seduce" her. She never fell for it though. I loved Alex! She was strong, tough and stubborn. The hate seemed to be mutual between them but as the story progresses, we see a change in their feelings for each other. This story kept me hooked and I loved the fact that there was no OW drama. Sam Crescent knows how to write angsty mafia stories and this is a good one!

Excellent read
Written by Sua on 2nd Aug 2022

Both stuck in an unwanted arranged marriage has both Roman and Alex in hot and cold moments. Roman playing games with Alex because he thinks she’s not innocent and Alex finding ways to get out of a sham marriage because she feels Roman isn’t a genuine person. It takes a truce between these two to figure out if their marriage can really work or fail. A suspenseful read as there’s a target on Alex and a race to protect her from harm.

Can Alex and Roman find their way.
Written by Vibekke on 2nd Aug 2022

Can you fall in love with the spouse you didn't want and was forced to marry? Roman and Alex, the heirs to a mafia family and a crime family is forced into marriage to unite their families. It is not smooth sailing. Preconceptions on what the other person is feeling, their agenda and if the person has lied or not. This is not a instalove but things develop in the space of time. When someone is trying to kill Alex Roman has to fight to keep her safe. And everywhere was their fathers not always helping. With the help of their friends they try to find their way. The story has it all! It has HEA, sweet romance, intrigue and suspense. It made me tear up, giggle, cringe and straight out laugh which made my hubbie look at me and wonder what I was reading. I loved to follow Roman and Alex story. Could not put it down since I couldn't wait to see what they do next. I highly recommend this book.

Written by Mistie Best on 2nd Aug 2022

Roman and Alex made for such an awesome enemies to lovers dynamic! This was a great story with so many levels. I just wanted to grab Roman and shake him so many times. As Alex peeled back his layers, you could start to see how he came to be the way he was, but he was just so infuriating with his quirks. I loved watching him break as the story progressed.

Written by Allison R on 1st Aug 2022

Alex is not the typical mafia bride. She’s not meek and mild mannered and she’s more aware than most about her husband’s violent family dynamics, given her dad, who’s just as powerful as the Grecco mafia, but she still is innocent and sweet in her own right. Roman doesn’t know what to do with his new bride and is doesn’t trust her, but he’s the eldest son of his Capo and dutifully follows orders. Their relationship explodes after some external violence that hits home and forces them together. I love the fact that while gentle and sweet Alexa is quite strong and Roman, while a jerk at times is modern enough to deal with her self perceived “flaws”. This is a slow build relationship even though they’re already married at the start of the book but the heat between the two is combustible and will have you reaching for a fan. This is not a super dark mafia romance as there is definitely some violence but there is enough sweetness to balance it out, especially with the kids. 5 stars

Amazing plot
Written by Romina G on 1st Aug 2022

The plot was amazing, the thing was it was way too slow-burn, It took time getting into the story and there was a lot of deception and no trust at all. The end was sweet and the plot twist was fast and there.

Top 5 favourite mafia romance stories
Written by Lauren K on 1st Aug 2022

This book is definitely in my top 5 favourite mafia romance stories. Anytime there’s an arranged marriage aspect it’s either going to be love at first site or enemies to lovers. And this one was a bit of both, but stubbornness and pride played a bit part of them realizing how much they actually cared for each other. I loved these characters and how much they came to love each other and build a life together. Not to mention the meddling friends with good intentions. 8/10 would recommend.
